Just a few hours left until the release of Grim Dawn's expansion.
Are you excited?
Just a few hours left until the release of Grim Dawn's expansion
I gotta say... not really.
>finished slapping together an ultimate vitality build
>FG will make it outdated
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you Crate
no
any waifu romance?
Yes, I haven't played it in months.
A little but not that much.
Well the Ashes of Malmouth screen character is now officially in the game if nothing else.
eeeeh sure
i want mythos milkies
A little. Will definately play through it a few more times with the GF. We're stuck in a hotel for the next few days, pretty bummed about it but its whatever. I wish the game blew up like D2 and had a bustling community.
I refunded Outward yesterday since I didn't like it, so I'll probably buy this instead.
i want gf too pls
Is this expansion going to make it so Warden isn't the only class that can solo hardcore all the way through? If not, no buy.
new class Oathkeeper combined with soldier will probably do it
No. I was really waiting for it a few months ago when I had an itch for another ARPG but since then I played more than enough Path of Exile. It's going to take a few months until I feel like playing another ARPG.
Gotta follow Bysmiel then
Get into an MMO and find one. I stumbled upon mine and got lucky though so thats all the advice i can give.
depends
some people turned their back cause the waiting was too long and the moved on to other games
autists(in a good way) that surrounded the game will prolly play and enjoy
desu the developer should drop it and focus on making more accesible and polished Grim Dawn 2 or a new IP while keeping it at least half as nuanced
Weren't they making some city builder based on GD?
So many good games lately. I just want to be a NEET again.
Unironic question: did you like ELEX?
>more accesible
I'm a total arpg casual and I found Grim Dawn very easy to play. How would they make it even more accessible? I don't want it to become Diablo 3.
I grinded hard in the base game for a while to build up a good character before just giving up, the lack of any larger online system kinda kills it for me. I'm not sure I can build up the interest to go back in for an expansion.
i found it pretty accessible too but judging by the lack of interest in the game it wasn't accessible/ or marketed enough.
Also, by accessibility I mean not only simplifying the mechanics but general polish when it comes to interface/looks etc.
I think a better system for communicating to the grimdawn community ingame would help the game alot. Thats what Zero K does.
The tooltips could really use some work. I would really like to see how my converted damage would look like on the skill themselves instead of the just the totals on the character sheet. Trying to calculate damage of devotions comes to mind. A better character selection screen would be nice too.
Though I have a feeling that these things aren't really that big when it comes to attracting modern gamers.
Who /shaman+oathkeeper 2h eye of reckoning/ here?
I've heard grim dawn is way easier than titan quest. is this true? Titan Quest difficulty being non-existent until legendary is the worst thing about the game
Normal is easy. Elite is too if you have played ARPGs before. Ultimate can be hard until you have lots of gear stashed as you might struggle to keep your build together and maintain resistances.
is word of pain getting nerfed or is it going to remain the single easiest, safest and fastest way to hit 100
Depends on how much you cripple yourself with a shitbuild. Go something like demo+occ and you'll have yourself a bumpy as fuck road to run all the way to endgame
>can finally spin2win
can't wait, whirlwind builds are my favorite thing to do in these games
>grimtools.com
ignore the sword, it's just something i might angle for while levelling
what do you lads reckon
How much of a fucking moron am I for going Occ/Inq dual guns with Witchfire, Possession and Sigil? I thought it sounded good but I started getting slaughtered in Malmouth. Should I convert to Dreeg and go melee or Bysmael and pets?
>demo+occ
>shitbuild
>stupid amount of RR from curse + mines
>decent defenses
>can either burninate the whole world with demonic molotovs or shoot shit up with firestrike
What did you mean by this?
Shaman? No. Occultist EoR 2h chaos Sentinel here
until the instant you get hit once by a skelly giant, blast shield procs, then you get hit again and die like a bitch unless you waste an hour kiting
get one of the ugdenbog guns with acid conversion plus the putrid necklace MI from act 1 and go full acid+pierce, without any conversion your damage is divvied up between phys, pierce, elemental, chaos and vit. that's a hard sell
inquis has good tankiness though and inq+occ combo has 2 self heals, there's no reason it shouldn't work if you focus your damage a bit tighter
also get stun resist so those charging flesh golems can't fuck you up so easily, there's 15% on empty throne devotion if you have nothing else
Why not go 1H+shield at that point? Might as well take advantage of the oathkeeper passives
Spoonfeed me a good build
Forcewave is good if you're looking for something braindead and strong
>literally sunder from poe
hmmmm something else please?
Just because oathkeeper has shield skills and passive doesn't mean you need to use one. Also grimtools.com
You can stack up to almost 40k flat damage in grimtools on a Wrath of Tenebris sentinel. 54k with all procs active
rune of hagarrad is good if you want to blow things up with icicle mines
inquisitor + shaman
press word of pain to kill everything short of bosses
press wind devil to instantly shred 70% elemental resist off bosses with rhowan's crown so word of pain kills them too. also put lightning box on them if you're feeling really fancy
press word of renewal to go fast and heal
no items required, but that one wendigo medal that soups up word of pain will do you good when you get to the swamp and that's not hard to get
Pet Cabalist
DK
Warder
Soldier based build in general is good but boring
Will Trozan Ice Shards Druid stay viable? I love this build
Here
Well that does look interesting, care to post full build? Is there anything else you're using to convert the fire/lightning to chaos or just not bothering on them?
Literally glacial cascade mines from PoE, but slower :^)
oh yeah also that one yeti offhand which pumps up wind devil is good and easy to get and handy for levelling
Then go for retaliation you faggotron, or can you think up a viable thorns/reflect build from POE? :~)
Did they really have to release it so short after Synthesis.
I'm all action RPG'd up.
Everything in this game is going to be slower than PoE. PoE is retardedly fast.
grimtools.com
Rings convert some fire to chaos, helm converts some flat vit from Second Rites.
Never heard of this game? How's the gameplay?
Like a more active cookie clicker
crack soon?
So with the Oathkeeper coming out I'm pretty much forced to make a shield build.
How does blocking work exactly? Does it only block attacks? Does it block weapon based abilities or spells? Does the game even differentiate between the two?
grimdawn.com
And:
Shields are the definitive defensive option for the off-hand. When you are struck by an attack with a shield equipped, you will have a chance to block some of the damage (shields can block any damage type). When this occurs, you will be unable to block again until the shield’s Block Recovery time has expired. This cooldown can be reduced through various skills and equipment.
Some abilities can use the shield when striking, rather than your weapon. In this case, the % Weapon Damage component of the ability will use the shield’s damage rather than your main-hand.
from grimdawn.com
>GD twitch page is pretty much dead
>no grim dawn general on /vg/ this time around either
:(
not really. Grim dawn is way too fucking easy a game for it to hold my interest.
That's what I was worried about. I would buy it but I don't want another kid mode difficulty loot collecting simulator like titan quest.
is this like diablo 2?
Seems pretty shit then. Surely physical damage isn't the biggest problem in the game.
Been looking through the Oathkeeper mastery. Seems to be a lot of x% of retaliation damage added to attacks. Which is nice because ranged attackers fucked retaliation build since they didnt take damage. Might take a look at that then.
Play hardcore fucking dumb casul
There's mods that make the game more difficult though
>Surely physical damage isn't the biggest problem in the game.
B
It is, it's one of the biggest source of burst damage you can get, especially if you get debuffed with -phys res. Shield builds are the ones that have made it furthest in the new Shattering Realm mode
Ya I'm pretty excited, I recently picked up Ashes of M on-sale and started a new Inquisitor character. Only thing is, I had the bright idea too delete all my other characters 3 level 60-80s. So I haven't really played it until this last weekend and having fun again, they really improved the performance over time. Just wish I had friends that played it.
Yikes.
You and your girlfriend must look like gargoyles
>Shield builds are the ones that have made it furthest in the new Shattering Realm mode
Wait when did all of this happen? Was there a beta or something?
what the fuck do you think I'm doing, you nigger?
There's a whole plethora of playtesters that have been playing the game for like half a year user. Many of them are active in the forums
>the lack of any larger online system kinda kills it for me
That's the thing which makes Grim Dawn the ideal choice for many people though, the games with larger online systems are ALL "online only" meaning you must be connected too their servers and can have your access taken away from the game / your characters at any time for anything in the EULA / ToS. GD gives you the freedom to play offline / online co-op, without ANY of the bullshit of "online only" RPG's like waiting around for servers to get online, or relying on other players / trading for gear. Some of us just like primarily single-player games, developers just see too much $$ in "games as a service" model and push out poor quality "multiplayer" like Diablo 3 at launch.
When does it release on gog? So I can pirate it without a crack
Still can't decide what class to pair with the new one. Obviously going sword and shield, but I I'm torn between demo or arcanist.
Probably tomorrow or even a day after. Gog are slow
>tfw veteran is somehow the hardest difficulty
Elite is barely harder than vet and ultimate is a cakewalk because by that point you're likely pretty well geared
challenge yourself and go necro
What are you using as a default attack replacer?
I've been disappointed with every diablo 2 spiritual successor. Is this one actually good?
>oh boy I can't wait to autistically grind for loot
all loot games are just escapism at its peak. So long as you acknowledge that you are clearly running away from a problem you can play them but no one mentally healthy with a low number of stessors can enjoy these games
Is there a reason to wait for it to come out if you aren't starting as Oathkeeper?
I'm assuming the content is available after Malmouth so might aswell start going through the game.
Speaking of which. What's a good Soldier leveling skill. Going Warlord retaliation, but I'm guessing retaliation sucks ass early on.
>all games are just escapism at its peak
ftfy user ;)
What's wrong with occasionally enjoying mindless autistic number-crunching while listening to podcasts and other junk?
New content is available after you defeat warden krieg, the act 1 boss
they've said the content is not post vanilla or malmouth this time, you can go there in act 1 or 2 I think
Yes, that type of game
>make it easier and more accessible
please no
I hope GD 2 is more vibrant and colorful like titan quest.
How do I make OP summoner?
Someone please tell me the whirlwind spell works with pistols please
No
pick occultist, pick shaman, collect gear with +pet damage
skeletons are a meme, lategame they die to a fucking sneeze and resummoning them is a chore
Eh...kinda.
Im kinda burnt out in it. Its been the game I play when i dont know what else to play for a while. The last expansion was kind of a drag. I think it was the boring music mostly.
fug :D
>Wolcen beta starts tomorrow
>looking forward to that fucking mess
If it comes together it will be good
Is Ashes of Malmouth worth it? I held off on it for now because it's kinda expensive.
Synthesis smokes cock so far except for the unleash support though
Is it really that bad? I was looking into it a bit but I couldn't find much about it
Path of Exile is actually good, Grim Dawn is mediocre.
I wouldn't count on it, so far devs have proven themselves completely incompetent. Better off looking forward to Last Epoch instead
Yes its pretty good and meaty expac.
The league mechanic is garbage, but the new skills are great. Having a ton of fun with kamehameha.
Path of Exile seems way too spreadsheet build autism for me
2nd mastery for Oathkeeper?
Thinking about going shields since I've never tried them.
Not played for a few updates and now im too scared to see how badly its been nerfed
This game advertises itself on actually having a story and choices that matter
Does it really?
Depends. Soldier and Demo seem good for a standard sword and shield build, lots of oathkeeper skills seem to be phys and fire. I guess inq or arcanist would work well too.
Then there's also nightblade or occultist for a poison based build. Oathkeeper has those green skills (I forget what they're called) that can turn the fire damage they have to poison instead.
It's nothing to write home about, but it's still worlds better than D3
That's like complementing a book by saying the writing is better than my immortal
>choices matter
None that I remember.
>having a story
The story is pretty decent, but the expansion isn't as good story-wise.
What's your favourite build you've made? Mine is a blade arc witchblade. Especially since the latest patch buffed blade arc.
no.
the animations of this game are trash.
You doing blade arc spam? I like my blade arc witchblade too. Don't really have a favorite since i have almost 60 builds i rotate playing
Yeah blade arc is my default weapon attack. Eldrich gaze adds weapon damage to it and converts 100% of its physical damage to chaos. Combined with obsidian Juggernaut it's a wrecking ball.
Oh neat, mines physical damage. I'm using mythical leviathan and doing those big dick crits instead
>want to try Oathkeeper
>can't resist doing Warlock Chaos Ray again
Very.
Can't wait to be off from work.
I'll probably cruise through Elite just to get an idea of the difficulty and not die on Ultimate, then I'll beat the thing and start over with some Oathkeeper build.
I like doing builds based around things that aren't supposed to be default attack replacers. When FG hits I'm just going to do a standard sword and board build though. Will probably pick demo for flame touched, vindictive flame and blast shield and then put the rest in oathkeeper for all the new shit.
I've soloed HC with every single build I made and not a single one has soldier in it.
I don't get the point of this game's, why do people like to play this endless grindfest?
It has great lore but not so great of a story.
Most choices are based on facion mostly, with again more lore implications than actual events happening in the story.
Grenado/cannister purifier
Probably the most basic bitch build I made but it happens to be the most fun one to play.
I have a similar build but sorcerer instead. Star pact gives you extra cooldown reduction on top of ulzuin's chosen procs. By end game you're pretty much throwing bombs 24/7.
I have a DW ranged Deceiver that can farm Lokarr. Slow crucible times though. I use a mostly converted to chaos Kalastor instead of SoC.
Who are these girls?
Need to know what to save them as in my Laughing Girls collection
Lin and her sister from Legend of Korra
>play GD
>fiddle around and end up playing an AAR build
>get bored of GD and play PoE
>fiddle around and end up playing a Scorching Ray build
There is something extremely satisfying about firing a beam of fire at niggers.
Yeah sorcerer was my first grenado build.
With star pact now, you can probably make a great cold grenado build using the rimetongue set.
Don't forget the death ray from diablo 3. Yeah I know, diablo 3, but I had a lot of fun playing wizard.
Shieldbreaker seems like a very solid option.
I particularly like using AAR as a target designator for Meteor Shower.
Diablo 3 is a legit fun game. It's just kind of shallow and the story is insulting.
