How far did you get as a child?

>Only dedicated healer gets deathpacito-ed
>If you don’t know any good Materia combinations spread your ass and get ready for the pounding in the late-game
>Late game Materia that you have to spend hours grinding out to master before you fight Sephiroth even though your other Materia is maxed.
>Final Cavern is full of enemies that have 1-hit kill moves
>Even more hours of grinding and researching Materia combinations to fight the weapons scattered across the world.
>Hidden ways to find all the materia and secret armor/accessory pieces that you NEED to be effective against the weapons.
>No ribbon, you’re fucked
>Hours upon hours of chocobo breeding and research to get knights of the round.
>Your only help were friends at school because mom didn’t let you buy the strategy guide.

How far did you get as a child?

I played the game when I was 12 and beat it. Didn't really find it that hard, though I didn't beat Ruby Weapon on my first playthrough, and I only beat Emerald because for some reason when I used Cloud's Finishing Touch limit break on him, he froze for the rest of the battle.

Final battles weren't hard.

I only stopped because my original copy was scratched (fucking PS1 discs) and always froze during the drop into Midgar FMV at the end of disc 2.
Got a new one about three years later and beat it, wasn't that tough.

I got up to the sub but then the PC version kept on crashing

I got to the northern crater and quit because I liked the game so much I never wanted it to be over.

For a kid who was used to playing platformers and action games, it was a way different kind of game and I didn't really understand most of it, the thought of "finishing" a JRPG didn't even cross my mind, I treated it more like an endless playground where you could do things.

I would play till I got to Sleepless City Treno and then just chill around, play some cards and sometimes just grind monsters around the city just for fun only to go back to play some cards again, maybe hunt for some treasures and play chocobo hot'n'cold, that's all I needed to have fun with the game and I never wound up finishing it till it got released on Steam like 20 years later.

Wait, that's actually FF9, but whatever, I'm sure same would've applied to FF7.

Beat it for the first time when I was 17 in 1997

I finished it.
But i got stuck many times.
Reno, that robot at the end of the highway, dyne, demon wall, schizo, and that reno robot at the underwater reactor.

Pretty much everyone was a mage with fire, ice, lightning and cure.

As a child I got to the part where sephiroth is killing the robed guys. Grandma saw and thought it was a satanic game about killing priests so she took it away.

Beat it blind when I was 13 with zero problems

based grandma

The game itself wasn't too hard for me. I'd say getting trine early is the most powerful skill you can have for a huge chunk of the game.
Final Fantasy games are not difficult, just unfair (that's what the challenge is based off, mostly). Even low tier enemies can make you lose complete control of your party (unless you have ribbon like you say) and wipe them all out just because while you're forced to watch.

I think it quickly became my favourite game. First open world game I played with such epic dimensions story-wise. No other game has ever got me so hooked up with wanting to know more of the sotry or explore the game. I miss that feeling a lot.

Beat it at 11.

I didn't play this game until January of this year
just barely beat the first miniboss (?) and then died to a random encounter
19 btw

Got Yuffie, fapped alot, then beat the game. Good times.

>Died to the Robot Scorpion counter at the start
>Stopped playing
>Disc 1 ended up getting scratched somehow

Played through it for the first time a year or two ago.

It's not a hard game. Not by any stretch of the imagination. What is this meme? The game hands you materia like it's candy.

The big challenges I remember people talking about were the Weapon bosses and that was about it.
Maybe finding the secret shit on your own too, but still.

i got this game when it was new, i was younger than 10 years old, i think, i got to where you fight Barrets friend Dyne and got my black ass torn in half because I never used Barret and didnt know what the fuck I was doing in a 1 on 1 fight, came back to it when I was in highchool and beat it pretty easily though

My 1337 Boss Strategy from 1998:
Haste-All
Wall-All
Regen-All
Use Limit Breaks & Summons
Only spergout I remember having was against this absolute unit.

I don't play final fagasy games.

Did anyone else think the "W" materia like "W-Item" or "W-Summon" stood for "with"

Based retarded Zoom Zoom

I remember my friend having a hard time with Carry Armor, so I made sure I had Bolt 3 by that point.
Also trying to actually fight the Midgar Zolem when you first reach it, stupid thing to do but still.

Seriously kys yourself. I was born in 2000. I'm not a zoomer.

1997 and up is zoomer, soz
i turn 20 in september

I hated it as a kid. Even when it was new the graphics were trash and the OST sucked.
IX and X were better.

I'm pretty sure I didn't beat all/any superbosses or get KotR, and I definitely didn't learn all limit breaks, but I didn't have any trouble beating it as a child. It's not a difficult game unless you go for completion, which is still more tedious than hard.

This is some next level fake retard posing

>switch Version has speed up button and a button that refills health during combat
Perfect....

>zoomer struggles with easy game
Imagine my shock.

So do the PS4 and smartphone and Steam versions

Get beta, trine or aqualung early. Top it with big guard and the game becomes a joke.

@456093695
>the OST sucked
No, you don't deserve a (You). Go to your room and think about what you did. You should be very ashamed of yourself.

You easily win this game by just spamming attack and using cure when you get hurt. Even with no grinding.

The game is a joke.

sounds like modern FFs kept up with that trend

and this one allows for healing at 0 HP using basic items
