The last 20% of the game really needed some better means of fast travel, you spend so much fuckijg time walking if you want the radiance fight and still need 700 essence but already unlocked the end, it's just tedious

God Seeker is made for the crazy people who mastered all the combat in the base game and first couple DLCs so well that they needed the most difficult challenges possible thrown at them.

I don't enjoy the combat in hollow knight that much. Maybe it has to do with me playing on keyboard, maybe not.
Something isn't clicking and I don't have fun because I don't feel like I'm getting better, it feels like I'm just adapting to the patterns of the current enemy then forgetting them.
The directional inputs will fuck up periodically and I'll dash the wrong way or slash sideways instead of down. This sounds minor but at this point I should have burned it to muscle memory and I have not which annoys me.
I'd rather move on to something that syncs with me better. The feeling when you're melded with the controls and don't think about them is what makes me want play games past completion and I'm not getting it here.
Maybe I'm getting old and slow, donno.

Make sure it's USB though. I hear the X360's wired controller is good, but I can't confirm. The last controller I used was a Gravis Gamepad for One Must Fall.
Well worth though. Trying to do the HCF motion is much easier on a gamepad than on your keyboard when you can't use numpad for movement and have to use arrow keys (yuck).

No point in using numpad for HK because the diagonals don't do anything. Personally I use keyboard for HK because keyboard is far superior when going from Slash one one frame to Dash on the next. The grip you need to do that on a controller is bullshit.
Keyboards are worse at the HCF motion but Hollow Knight does not use that motion, or any diagonals for that matter.

Literally just remap your controls on a controller.

Huh, you can access Pantheon 4 and 5 without having fought White Defender. Destroying the game without killing a single dreamer is possible. If you combine that with the Fragile Flower ending, you're practically getting a total good end, Hornet gets to meet her mom, Quirrel and Monomon can be together doing whatever it is they do and Lurien gets to stalk everyone in the city happily ever after.

Yes, during normal playthrough you can take the occasional hit, but then you can also just facetank her without pogo.
