yes Jack Frost or other SMT characters would be a better fit, I still stand by that the SMT V protag would be a great move but they're just not as popular and recognisable as Joker since Persona has overtaken SMT.

it has all manner of content that links Persona 5 as part of the Megami Tensei series. This involves demons and locations that have been part of the series for many years. Persona is a cannon offshoot of the official timeline that includes other Megami Tensei games including Devil Summoner and the first Shin Megami Tensei. Earlier Persona games did say Shin Megami Tensei on the box to let fans know the games had some similar components they stopped doing that at Persona 4 Golden as they no longer felt the need as the Persona name sold so well that it didn't need it.

The bad part was the lack of gameplay, but he isn't the first Smash reveal that skipped that.

I would say Isabelle was the most underwhelming one for Smash Ultimate so far, (really drawn out) even with the gameplay shown, but that's okay because BASED NOOK saved the day at the end.

Joker wasn't even the worst reveal of Ultimate. That would be a tie between Incineroar and Isabelle. Incineroar for stupidly being held off as the final reveal for the base roster, and Isabelle for being so dragged out, boring, and not even trying to be surprising.

But even then Corrin trumps them both handily. The only first party DLC slot was wasted on a series people were already growing sick of seeing in Smash, and it was given to a character that nobody knew about outside of Japan yet. Imagine having one character in a franchise crossover actually being a major impetus for causing franchise fatigue for their home series.

Incineroar wasn't that bad in presentation regardless of how you feel about the character and the fact it was the "final" non-echo Newcomer, short and action packed with Ken thrown in as a bonus and a implied asskicking by other characters at the end, and that direct had worse issues then the the character reveals, like general priority on what to show and not, people argued for like 2 days what was and wasn't in some people were even unsure if Spirits had the World Map or if it was just a conceptual imagining due how Sakurai had worded what he said before the video that showed it off and what "Cutscenes" entailed.

They absolutely pissed on the momentum of this game. Smash 4 had the grace of the WiiU having literally fucking nothing else to look forward to in order to keep attention during the six month period between Mewtwo's and Lucas' reveals. Ultimate now has to compete for attention with Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Luigi's Mansion, Bayonetta 3, Daemon X Machina, and that one recently revealed Platinum Games title.

If they didn't have Joker ready yet or the next fighter to reveal yet, the fucking least they could've done to maintain interest was actually talk about the additional modes coming in 3.0.0. But they didn't, they just told people who waited eagerly to entirely fuck off for a couple more months.
