A lot of pro gamers will have different careers in 10 years, and those like zero who don't have degrees will likely be forced into entry level positions if they don't make enough money while they can live comfortably or go back to school. Also anytime a smash streamer goes out for a tournament they always lose fucktons of subs. Imagine flying out to a tournament with the pressure to win and losing a couple grand even if you win because Smash prize pots are like 10k for first place.

The Smash community feels too Esports gentrified now. Not like it used to be when I was still attending.

Multiple factors:
-Rage isn't as strong anymore.
-Offensive play is actually a viable option now.
-Games are 3 stock instead of 2.
He mained a character that benefited heavily from all three of those things. Diddiy Kong being unable to deal with huge amounts of pressure, combined with the fact that he now struggles even more with kills during rage, COMBINED with the fact that he can't just troll out easy two stocks from said rage were all factors on why he's fucking trash now.
Lots of smash 4 players are being really salty about how they can't play like defensive little babies anymore.

Zero was never skilled. All he did was play the two most broken characters and use them exclusively to victory. And because they were good for so long, he could completely focus on solidifying his neutral game and matchup knowledge, while other top players who didn't main these characters actually had to take time to learn their character. By the time his characters were nerfed, he was already so far ahead of everyone on game knowledge that it didn't matter and no one could catch up.

TL;DR he got really far ahead of the competition due to abusing horrible game balance, not skill.

Ganondorf was tournament "viable" in early Smash 4 as well. Because of his recent surge in popularity, everyone is going to learn his gimmicks and he's going to get dumpstered. Just like early Ultimate was dominated by K. Rool, Chrom, and Ness until everyone learned how to counterplay them. Now even Ike and Palutena aren't showing as many results because people learned the matchups.

People just aren't used to Ganondorf's immense range in this game. He's more or less as powerful as he was in Smash 4, since he lost the best up-smash in the game, and his unchallengable aerial flame choke for a better f-smash, ~5 frames of lag off of all of his moves, and slight damage buffs. If he still had his old up-smash, I'd argue he'd have a decent bit of staying power and would be a respectable mid tier.

But I'm only 1/3rd of the way through mapping out his flame-choke tech chase confirms. Maybe I'll change my mind when I'm finished with it.

And the ones that have a gimmick are very hard to use, like Peach or Snake

Ganon’s greatest strength at this point in the meta is that he forces you to respect his normals when properly spaced. So he’s blowing up more aggro players who rely on OOS punishes by forcing trades. It’s hard to tell if he’ll truly fall off once parrying becomes consistent because it’s always terrifying to drop shield against him. He’ll remain a solid counterpick against the high tiers. But basically gets completely invalidated by the top tiers. I’m curious as to how far late nair confirms will progress. Might be a more solid option for mid-percents than grounded spike or dash attack.

You can't out space or time out people as easy because now people have a fighting chance to get back on stage. Leffen is my fav but I know he's no ultimate god, but he understand his faults and what can the community do better at playing the game. I believe Zero and Leffen are on a similar stance that players need more aggression off stage if they want matches to stay fun and on a faster pace than intended. I still dislike Zero but his youtube and stream career ain't so bad.
