That is not how things work IRL. It's incredibly difficult to pierce plate armor with anything other than a warhammer or similar weapon. If the spike hits a boob and gets deflected towards the crease area it has already lost the majority of it's kinetic energy, so it has no real chance of piercing.

unrealistic architecture, women can be more empowered than they really were, there are still elements of fantasy like magic dragons and whatnot but they arent everyday things, in some cases most people havent even seen anything extraordinary their whole lives, in some there might still be like trolls and orcs running around fairly often but that tiptoeing on high fantasy.
medieval is, well, medieval. kingdom come deliverance. or mountain blade, even though its fictional setting its very grounded with none fantasy. best example of low fantasy is golden age berserk. almost no magic and shit, only an occasional demon or such and everyone shits their pants because how could those things exist. fantasy is in the world but its very subtle. past golden age it turns into full-on fantasy though with demons everywhere, magic and all that.

Shields did not, in fact, guard very well against Blunt weapons in combat, its why you didn't just whip one out against people with morning stars in medieval combat, because it would still break your arm with its force. For a lot of people, high fantasy means floating cities, resurrection magic, airships, time travel, praying to god creates actually creates miracles and houses are illuminated by permanently glowing crystals or infinite burning torches. I'm not saying you're wrong, LotR is historically associated with high fantasy, but personally I would call it neutral fantasy, neither particularly high nor low. The bar for "high fantasy" has been raised high. Today's high fantasy settings are almost indistinguishable from living in a video game or pen-and-paper rpg.

Redundancy. Covenant weaponry used superheated plasma that melts through any surface extremely quickly. One grazing shot on flesh will cost you the limb it's part of. Since she's super strong it's just sensible to have extremely thick armor at her center of mass to mitigate enemy weapons fire eating all the way through to her skin.
