I just started playing this, I'm about 10 hours in and I need to understand why it had so much hype.

>combat is shallow to the point of trivial
>"clever" combat amounts to bombing camps or sneak attack QTEs
>entire game is running around collecting items to fill lists of collected items
>shrine "puzzles" are infantile
>every "boss" can be cheesed
>majority of the map is empty
>every sidequest is a fetch quest

I'm trying to be engaged by this game, but I just don't give a shit about anything I'm seeing or doing on the screen.

Then stop playing it wtf. Why do people do this? if a game is boring stop playing it and move to the next one lol.

>game is hyped
>be bored playing it
>ask hyped players why they're so hype on it because maybe I missed something
Wow, what an unthinkable action.

Game's really good. Sorry it didn't click.

It's more about the cinematic experience. Challenge is toxic and problematic, so Zelda instead opted for the "comfy" route. Games shouldn't be too videogamey or they might not help you unwind after a day of work.

Wtf how braindead do you have to be to not understand that different people like different games. I don't force myself to ladder grind in hearthstone because autistically sucking meta dick and banging my head against a 55% winrate isn't fun for me but it's blatantly obvious people like shit like that.

It's baby's first Elder Scrolls. You're not going to get any solid answers here because the fanboys hate anyone criticizing this game. So much so that they autistically post the same picture over and over again like it means anything.

The cope must be real.

I'm not turning to LoZ for peak challenge, but I'm struggling to find meaningful things to accomplish in this game. This title opted for an aimless open world, but without a more challenging struggle to survive, it's just dull and you can feel how aimless it is.

It's seems you value structure when it comes to gameplay as opposed to more free form gameplay, it that's the case then it's not really a surprise you won't dig the game. That's fine and all, just realize that you don't have to feel like everyone else and feel secure that you have an opinion on something.

Incredible how you guys can't get ovrr this game.
More than 2 years have passed. Jesus.

>structure
I value engagement. The game is harsh enough on the player that simply surviving your exploration as you stumble upon objectives is its own reward. That's what's lacking with this style of open world game.

> without a more challenging struggle to survive
Apparently Nintendo doesn't thought highly of their players and lower the difficulty drastically. If you want real "survival" you have to play it in DLC-exclusive hard mode.
> but muh hard mode is too hard and is not fun
Yes, and apparently they were right.

I've completed the game. On pc I should say, so my opinion is not that of someone who paid for the experience. I kinda liked the game. Combat is pretty easy, all the divine beasts are pretty easy, last fight is trivial at best. But I just enjoyed unlocking the memories, learning the story and lore, completing every side quest like an autist... I also like the technical aspects of the game, the graphics and how tight everything is. Well designed. Solid 7/10

2017 was a different time. Yes, the game aged poorly. So what. Doesn't mean it wasn't important for the history of videogames.

What you find engaging isn't necessarily going to be the same as what other folks like. Again, it's like your opinion man.

>game is 2 years old
>aged poorly

games dont go from good to bad in 2 years. the game is hardly even aged

Its an openworld sandbox that offers various methods of approaching combat and often rewards creativity and exploration.

If you don't like the sound of this, then it isn't for you.

It's overrated. What more is there to say? There's a decent base for a game but it needs to be drastically refined/built on. If you're not liking the game at 10 hours you probably won't like it more at 20 hours, the game frontloads its content and the mechanical progression might as well be nonexistent. If you've gotten off the Plateau, fought a lynel, done a couple shrines and korok seeds, and completed one of the divine beasts, you've basically experienced everything the game has to offer. The vast majority of the content is boilerplate filler.

There are plenty of sidequest, secrets and challenges to complete as well, the game isn't thay linear.

The hype is all in the physics engine and mechanical harmony. It's one of those games where you have to make your own fun because playing it at a base level is kind of boring. Personally I didn't like it very much either but at least I see a skeleton of a great game with it. I just wish it had stronger meat and potatoes design instead of just existing to be broken as hard as possible.

I mean I picked up Witcher 3 a couple years ago and was bored to tears. I just assumed 'this isn't for me' and moved on. But when someone doesn't like BOTW it's time to write a fucking essay apparently, since there seems to be a new thread about it every day.

Sony Niggers need to be gassed

And as I said, the vast majority of that content is boilerplate. The game doesn't suddenly throw a bunch of curveballs at you 20 hours in (and you can play the game for theoretically 70+ hours). There's only a few exceptions like Eventide, which exposes just how poorly the core mechanics mesh with the inventory system (the game has to force scarcity on you for the mechanics to actually function properly).

For people like OP, if they're not liking the game at 10 hours, the game is not going to "click" if they play for another 10 hours. They understand the game, they just don't like what it has to offer.

he is not realy playing the game you see
he is making a bait thread on Yea Forums to gatter (you)'s like its a form of currency or reddit cool sings

Cope more drone

Why are you retards still talking about this game? It’s a fun time waster and a solid 8/10 now fuck off and stop making this thread daily

>B-b-but Sony!
Pathetic incel

It's a shallow game for people who don't play video games. User metacritic score is always accurate if you want the real score of an overhyped game.
