Just started Dark Souls 1, how the fuck do you deal with these googly eyed motherfuckers?

you kill them

iirc I pressed R1

Stab, bludgeon or magic them to death. Without dying.

Easily? Any power weapon will stun lock and crush em and high dex is too quick for em. These dudes aren’t even an issue unless you are Gravelording

Seduce them

I usually hit them

Those aren't really it's eyes. The real eyes are tiny and above the mouth

hit them until they're dead

>what is running without fighting?

Hit them with a stick and they died. Try that

I played through Dark Souls 1 recently (finally finished it this time, I only finished DeS and Bloodborne before). Straight after that I did 2 and found it super easy.

Now I'm playing 3 and I'm really lose on what direction to go. There's always like 3 routes. I'm struggling much more with mod enemies. The first boss was an absolute joke. It has the same problem as DS2 I think where the bosses are too easy.

the trick is positioning, they literally have only curse mist to attack.

Just rush them and move out of the clouds ASAP, there's literally no challenge to them other than your fear of being cursed.

git gud

What's up with those, why are people always talking about them as if they were the deadliest shit the game has to offer? In 600 hrs of DaS I think I died to those like 3 times total. Just don't stand in the mist wtf how hard it is.

idk what gravelording is but I died twice to them after falling in that murderpit from the depths and now I'm afraid to try again
it's so fucking retarded that you have to grind 6k souls for every time they kill you

>Now I'm playing 3 and I'm really lose on what direction to go.
Strange considering the game is pretty much a straight path branching thrice.

Attached: 1522074943360.png (434x501, 330K)

I never died to those. But then again, I got lucky and got a BKS early in my first playthrough.

This was not an invitation to fucking blog.

Pull your dick and fuck their eye socket it usually works

>complains that the tutorial boss is too easy
ayy lmao

>eyed

those aren't their eyes

You have to run in and hit them as fast as possible. They won't have time to recover.

Well the trouble is I'm wasting my time not wanting to commit to any one path and then finding the others are just dead ends. It's laid out like a spider's web. Very annoying design. Plus there's a few odd places with no clear way to reach them, and it isn't obvious what I should be doing.

I saw the Onion Knight and he said about the ballistas or whatever are firing shots into the Undead town, so I'm doing that route with the Harpy things now to try to stop them, but feel like I'm going the wrong way.

Yeah, its annoying for sure, but New Londo Ruins is a much harder area near the beginning and ghosts are much more BS than Basalisk.

Gravelording = Gravelord Online Clan that requires the item you get from farming Basalisks (Evil Eye) to engage in online combat. So You have to fight a LOT of these dudes, and after you understand the game running back to the Priest + 6000 Souls ain't

If you want to help the onion play with the elevators a bit, figure out that there's 3 elevators total to bring you up in the tower, you need to go up not down. That is entirely optional. The road of sacrifices will guide you to the next destination after that.

OK thanks, I'm going to bed now but I'll look into it tomorrow. I'm still at the bonfire directly after the elevators.

like seriously wait until the Ghosts are around to get mad at the game. Can float through walls to avoid collision + mobs off screen + can only be damaged momentarily with a time based item+ can float and attack over pits.

okay user, but what's your stat build

Trying to piece together undead, hollowing and humanity. What actually happens when you reverse hollowing at a bonfire and turn human? Just died and lost my humanity, but when I picked up my souls again I regained my soft humanity points but I'm still undead.

I've read that having your soft humanity counter filled with at least 1 humanity point increases item drop rates significantly, but do I still benefit from this if I'm not in human form?

Attached: theFuckIsThisShit.png (429x410, 11K)

To be fair, you can easily dodge their curse attack, just dodge and run, and when they come just spam r1 and roll away from the fog.

Run up to it and press R1 until it’s dead

I was complaining about Ghosts, the Curse Fog is only a problem when you HAVE to farm Basalisk's.

I think you have to be human for drop rates to affect you.
To become human, you have to reverse hollowing, which will cost one humanity point. This also enables online play and invasions.

wow you are very very new. they actually don't do any damage they can only kill you with their curse gas, and if you died to them it means you are cursed and you only have half your health. you need to remedy that because there is a difficult area right after the depths.

No I meam the first boss. The frog looking fella.

I'm at about 18 str, dex and end. I never bothered to level anything else in 1 or 2 since estus isn't going to heal more than my full health bar anyway.

soft humanity (the counter) affects item drop up to 10. it also boosts your defense up to 99. all this works in undead form as well
going to human form just means you can summon, be invaded and not look like beef jerky

>18
Might be 16 come to think of it, not too sure.

>no points in vit
user...

You cant summon npcs either, drop rates suck, and you can't kindle bonfires, which gives your estus a huge boost.

What ghosts in the depths? I never farmed basilisks. What do they give? Rats are the things that give you humanities.

Then what is it?

Not him, but i think that boss is meant to be easy as fuck. The next one is easy too. After that you'll get rekt again.

I've not found armour to be that big of a deal and don't currently see any reason to level it because I dont' really have any to use. Dodging is 10x easier this time and I like to shield/dodge.

I'm surprised you could even die to them 3 times. But I guess even the most unlikely circumstances happen during 600 hours of gameplay.

By the way, is there any way to exchange items for souls? I got a fuckton of useless shit like this mask that dropped from the catacombs boss in my inventory.

Attached: a36ta36ed.png (977x761, 1.28M)

Basilisks drop Evil Eye which is required for the Grave Lord Covenant part of the online. You would only farm them along with Humanity if you wanted to do that part of the online PVP. (how is the Switch online anyway? I beat O+S and stoppped right when it could get fun at launch)

There are no Ghosts in the Depths, but you've always had access to the New Londo Ruins which is where the Ghost enemies are. Something amazing can be obtained in New Londo but I'd say just go there after you've progressed into the earlier game some more.

ghosts can also be attacked by certain items.

the first time i played dark souls i tried going through new londo ruins way too early and one of the ghosts dropped a cursed sword that they could be attacked with.

you can also attack ghosts while cursed.

Frampt can eat them for you.

>mask of the father
>useless

Cool, thanks anons! Got some more questions now that the thread is up anyway:

>How do I leave messages for other players, and are there any tangible benefits for doing so outside of helping them out?

>I've gotten some drops like giant ember and shit that I've given to the Blacksmith in the Undead Parish. He mentioned something about being able to make a new weapon with it, but there is no new item in his inventory and the option "Weapon Ascension" doesn't do anything

>I just went from the depths into Blightown, any tips for a first timer?

Attached: AinsleyApproval.jpg (398x500, 44K)

Oh yeah, me and a bud did a sub lvl20 run and I used Ghost Blade because its awesome (but the biggest pain to farm) Obviously Ghosts CAN be attacked, but only behind one timed condition or the aforementioned (Jagged)Ghost Blade. I've never done NLR early, but I know it can be done.

Ghost Blade + Painting guard Armor forever.

The fuck is this thing.
Where do I find it?
What's good about it? Looks like shit and has half the stats of my elite knight helm.

Attached: a3532q5.jpg (853x1280, 74K)

>where the bosses are too easy.
Oh boi, are you in for a treat

Blighttown. Armour IS important, if only for Poison/Bleed/Curse and Elemental Resist. Find good poison resist and buy Purple Moss from the Sewer Saleslady + farm it off the Tree People. From there... its very vertical, so you CAN find items/paths from falling but you can also die. Enemies are placed to annoy, with Toxic(!) Peashooter enemies hidden in the darkness. You can do nothing about Toxic(!) but heal and run back to bonfire.

Just be steady, once you make it to the bottom follow the wall towards north (roughly) and try to find a bonfire.

Please do it this way, a firsttimer HAS to beat Blighttown on their own the proper way.

You need to buy an Orange Guidance Soapstone from the undead merchant at the Undead Burg to leave messages

You need a weapon that's been upgraded to +5 for Weapon Ascension

Bring blooming poison moss, watch your step

Those aren't it's eyes

get the orange soapstone iirc, its sold by the merchant in undead burg.

you have to upgrade your weapons to what it's current max is then could ascended to get new buff. just google weapon ascension for the guide its easier than explaining it.

blight town is fun.

frampt shows up in firelink once you ring the two bells of awakening.

>whats good about mask of the father
giantdad.

there's also 2 versions of the artorias sword, one version can hit ghosts. again ghosts can be attacked by any weapon without transient curse if you are just cursed ;)

Let him play how he wants.
Just keep playing, you can't miss him if unless you do parts of the game out of order, and you won't know how during you first time.

You only need 3k if you buy it from Oswald

i'm not saying he has to use it, just that it isn't worthless

Frampt will appear eventually. You won't miss him.
The Mask of the Father increases your max equip load, so you can wear heavier armor and weapons without fatrolling. It's best to hold on to it, hell I'd hold on to any armor I don't have dupes of.

wait,, I didn't know you could attack them if you were cursed. Thanks friend! I think my first playthrough I used the Bad Artorias Sword to do NLR but this would make doing Death Hand stuff easier I see.

The Pinwheel masks are always a worthwhile tradeoff because of their passive bonuses. Mask of the Father gives you more equipload.

Attached: basilisk.jpg (1620x1080, 303K)

I'd still make the claim they are the hardest regular enemy in the game due to collision and transient nature, plus floating over pits.

read the transient curse
>Limb of the victim of a curse. Temporary curse allows engagement with ghosts.
The only way to fight back against ghosts, who are cursed beings, is to become cursed oneself.
The safest method, however dreadful, is to cut off an arm of the dead.

Fair. Thought you wanted him to do some faggy meta build on a first run.
I'm sorry for making assumptions.

How in the FUCK do you even let this things hit you? I did not get touched by these ugly ass creatures once.

The parts of the Depths with Basilisks are optional. You can get through the entire game without seeing one.

yeah masks are good but they aren't for everyone. you basically trade helmet slot for a ring.

First time they can get you if you don't realize what's happening. Any other time you really have to fuck up, since you wont forget your first cursing.

Also
>Basilisks
>Ugly
Pick one

what are these orange faux eyes made of? I want to fuck the faux irisses.

Just beat then. They have shitty poise so as long as you keep beating then, they won't spit the cloud.

Attached: 137072166157.png (622x674, 231K)

Hit them

Don't stand in the cloud of gas they breathe.

Probably just transparent collagen.

so I /CAN/ fuck it? irisses are holes and collagen feels good enough.

I don't think they have irises, and it is just a dark spot underneath showing though. You have to make your own hole.

well, they're dummy targets as far I know so i'd better tie some nails to my dick as they won't feel their decoys getting hit?

Is there any point to actually staying human?
I know you can summon NPCs to help you out with bosses but they've all been really easy so far so I haven't needed it.
I just save my humanity up in case I run into a tough area later on and need to kindle a bonfire.

Attached: q23t32q.png (1009x739, 1.26M)

They might have some nerve endings in the fakes, but you can probably be sure it hurts a lot less than jamming it in their real eyes at least.

If you see their bellies expand run the fuck away. Other than that, you got get up in their face and kill them before they can shoot their smoke.

yeah just hold onto your humanity.

There are NPC invasions that give you unique items, but it is hard to know where and when to trigger them.
Otherwise being human when not doing coop is just begging for a twink to fuck you up

Yeah but what are those things then?

If you aren't interested in PVP there's not much of a reason to go human besides kindling, summoning, and NPC invasions. So just save it.

Good stuff lads, kek

You don't stand in their braps. They don't directly attack you so just run behind them and give them a good fisting.

Do you have to go through them to get to a bonfire?
I tried avoiding them and ran straight into the vagina monster at the end.
