I don't think it looks bad actually. The one issue I do have with it is why is there no running? SOR3 had it and SOR fan remake seems to blow this game away and it was done for free by fans of the games. Besides that it looks fine to me mostly. Just needs to have more than Axle and Blaze as well.

looks cool as hell, day one buy just on principle. i'm always hungry for new beat'em ups, and i wanted a new SOR game since i was like 5. juggle combos look cool, and i saw a wall bounce, so that should add some variety to the gameplay. i hope its 3 or 4 player, but i wouldn't be surprised if its only 2 - as long as they allow couch co-op i'll be satisfied.
this is one of the few times i'll probably love the game even if its shit, just because of childhood bias and favoritism

Shiva is not gamebreaking, his back defense is pretty lame. He is only great if you play with another person, so you won't get surrounded.

I'm not with you on that, at least not when it comes to the way Savaged Regime does, mainly because I don't think Capcom utilized either the SNES or the Genesis capabilities very well during the 16 bit era. Great compositions, mind, but mediocre use of the hardware in arranging it in most cases, unlike how they usually did with similar arcade hardware.

Here's the problem with the visuals: It betrays a gameplay-style that is intimately linked to sprite art. The characters are high-resolution, traditionally drawn cartoons that use the same walking animation for moving side-to-side on the xy-plane as they do forward and backward. It's like the was no communication between the art team and the game designers.

We should be lucky we're even getting anything out of them from old IPs to be honest. And this doesn't look too bad. Dare I dream for shining force 4?
