Dark Souls is the best game ever made.

Dark Souls came out in 2011. Spawned an entire genre, dozens of games copied some of its mechanics (usually badly, but hey), influenced the industry forever.

Fallout New Vegas came out in 2010. "Why isn't this RPG like New Vegas" ever since.

Binding of Isaac - 2011 again, you can shit on the game, but it arguably created an even bigger fad that DS.

DMC5 is GOTY but it's not groundbreaking. Its appeal was that it pulled from all the earlier games and refined the old formula in a modern engine.

I think this game is really different, maybe it could've been revolutionary if not for bad timing. It came out just when guitar games were dead and everybody was burnt out of them.

I wonder what could've happened if Activision and EA didn't killed that genre with oversaturation, I think it could've even brought up a new era of music making to be honest, now its just a niche game with a small but supportive community.
