What are your final thoughts on the nintendo wii u game console?

It had potential, but calling it a Wii was a mistake

it was a really good console but its marketing was really garbage

I could have burned $200 for the same level of enjoyment

It had some good games, the E-Shop was decent, folders where neat, tv remote functionality was nice

Worst Nintendo console since GameCube. Devoid of soul in favor of gimmicky, shit

But they even ruined that. Virtual consoles are a nice idea, but Super Mario 64 is not worth $10 on any day of the week.

With obvious shit out of the way, I think its demise is really due to Nintendo's issue as a whole these days with relying on its own IPs to sell consoles. AA devs don't really exist anymore so now can't have another console like the Wii with a huge library of games to take advantage of the console's gimmick. That time is over and even though a lot of third-party Wii games were trash, the console still has a better library than the Wii U and Switch combined. Instead, you just have indieshit that's available on every system and some ports. Also, the Wii U never had a strong launch title like the Wii and Switch did.

I like it and I think it has quite an underrated library. Especially in JRPGs front, why the fuck wouldn't Nintendo port (uncensored) Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Xenoblade Chronicles X is beyond any reason.

I am also totally ok with tablet's range, I wouldn't feel secure with carrying Switch, I am generally figgety when it comes to having tech outside my house bigger than my pocket (that's why I don't buy phones with particularly big screens, 5 inches is more than enough to satisfy anyone)

Piece of shit that I regret getting. Not that the Switch is much better, but at least it has games. The only games I enjoyed on Wii U were W101 and Bayo 2.

Bad console. Will have a terrible legacy since all it's good games are getting ported to the switch. No one will have a reason to play it. The tablet will make emulation a fucking bitch too.

I got my money's worth with XBX and Splatoon alone, and played a few other things too. It's a crummy bit of hardware, but whatever.

Ive never owned one, I never played one either but from a spectator's point of view Ninty really screwed the pooch with this one, The fact that it was just called Wii U made it seem like and add-on for the Wii and not a new console not only that but half the fucking console is the controller which you NEED to have in order for it to even boot up a game, switch is a step in the right direction I feel but it could use some refining

It still has the best and most exclusives of the 8th gen. Which is pretty fuckin sad.
