Saves costs on asset development while still allowing some form of visual identity. Tight pixel art costs a lot of money and effort. It's not cheap. Nor easy to actually implement.

I have no fucking clue what is up with all these people being excited for Wrath. Of all the upcoming retro-style shooters, it literally looks the worst. Which is not to say that it MUST suck (Dusk looked like crap too, and turned out great), but there is nothing about Wrath that would actually give anyone a reason to be already excited.

As for the remaster of Blood, GDX is fine. Nightdive is garbage. Half of their """remasters""" are shit the community already released for free.
