Where does this rank among all time great remakes? I remember really enjoying it and the fucking OST is DYNAMITE

Bionic Commando Rearmed
At the very top
it's one of the best remakes, it's odd because the other one was made by the same devs and it sucked ass
Huh, so Hitler is Bison in the remake? Pretty cool.
I played 2 about 30 minutes, but then uninstalled and never went back.
Maybe I should give it another go someday.
BCR2 wasn't developed by GRIN
I was talking about the arm wife one but okay
Post that song from the OST. You know the one.
No, Bison AND Hitler are in the remake
I just remember the online demo being far better than the actual game
No shit? I never played it, that's pretty snazzy.
I love the Bionic Commando series, and Rearmed is my favorite game in it. It's honestly my favorite Capcom game, which should say a lot.
For the record, the character that looks like Bison was in the original NES version of the game. In fact, he predates Bison.
I thought that was what they remade Hitler to look like, though?
Nah, pic related was what Hitler looked like in Rearmed.
They had to give him an oxygen mask to obstruct his facial features just enough to get by German censors for the version released there, but made it so you can still clearly see his mustache through it if you bother looking at it for more than a second.
Plus, given that he was basically a revived corpse at that point, it works out anyway.
I meant in the original NES game.
I personally think that the gameplay mechanics in BC09 were spot on. The swinging felt satisfying and its transition into a 3D space was handled as perfectly as it could have been.
I didn't even mind how linear the game was, which I've seen as a common complaint lobbied against the game. It felt like a 2D Bionic Commando that just happened to be in 3D, if that makes any sense, and I was fine with that much. I do think that the way they handled out of bound spaces could have been handled better, though, since the radiation wasn't the best solution I feel and wasn't always clear on where it was.
The multiplayer was pretty fun too. It only had simple modes like death match, team death match and capture the flag, but playing those, especially CTF, in a game with swinging really opened the door to a lot of unique things you wouldn't normally see from those types of modes elsewhere.
The story was garbage though, no doubt about that. It was full of so much wasted potential, didn't really go anywhere, and was full of mindbogglingly dumb plot twists that trampled over every character in the series and the lore itself for seemingly no good reason.
Nah, Hitler and Kilit were still different characters even in the Japanese version.
Hitler still kills Kilit in his reveal scene when he gets out of the tube he was in.

Might be the best one I ever played. The NES game is amazing to but Rearmed might be the only remake I could put above the original.
I also didn't like how they handled boss battles in BC09 either. There were only three, four technically. The first one was against an attack helicoptor, and was easily the best of them all. You fought on a skyscraper's roof under construction, with plenty of steel girders to swing and zip from. It utilized the swinging mechanics of the game to the fullest, making for a game of cat and mouse as you swing about dodging the coptor's attacks while launching your own at it. Plus, the helicoptor being the same model you fought Hitler in at the end of Rearmed was a nice touch, I thought.
Then you fight a giant robotic worm that comes out of a parking lot. The fight itself isn't bad, but it also doesn't take advantage of the bionic arm much. The environment is completely flat, meaning all you can really do is zip out of the way of its attacks. The fight felt like it was meant to emphasize the gun play more than anything else and put more focus on zipping rather than swinging.
Then the next fight is against the guy propped up as the main antagonist of the whole game. The arena you fight in is just a tiny helipad and the fight itself plays out like an overglorified sumo match. You just dodge his highly telegraphed attacks and then zip kick him off the edge. That's it. It was made worse by the fact that this fight takes place on his giant mobile walking fortress that you had just fought your way through, meaning there's an entire base for you to have fought against him in. Given that the guy was a bionic himself, you could have had a much larger arena with him swinging and jumping after you. It was all right there, they didn't even have to make anything new for it.
Then the final "boss" after that was just a quick time event.
