You had to have played it at the time unfortunately.
suck this
unzips cock
I really want to play it correctly but my crippled ass brainlet brain can't read the text without skipping over words and shit
Lol just started playing it and having a blast. I tried before but never went further than the dwemer puzzle box. Now I really enjoy it, I'm planning to join the house Telvanni and I play a dunmer nightblade.
Not like you have more options.
Sorry if it doesn't tells you exactly where to go with huge objective marks.
Also, was one of the easygoing games back then, some other you would need to draw a map, with actual pencil and paper, to navigate through immensely huge dungeons
I feel sorry - unironically, not passively-aggresively, but in a friendly way - for people that can't into Morrowind. I acknowledge issues that people have with this game (lack of feedback animations in combat, for instance), but you guys are missing out. Few games have attention to detail at the level of Morrowind.
>attention to detail
>road signs are unreadable garbage that you have to sniff to read
what did he mean by this
I wonder if there's a mod that replace the road signs textures to make them readable.
Written in Daedric ofc.
Morrowind does have a huge attention to detail, but so does every other bgs game.
so the core game doesn't actually have much attention to detail. Are you going to post that one guy who has a robe with a word on it? lmao
Chitin armor is so sexy.
I don't need to reply to your bait.
Maybe attention to detail isn't the right phrase, but it's got a really unique setting and plot. Gives you the feeling that you can do anything from the start too, none of that long ass scripted start shit in Skyrim and Oblivion.
DraQ is a true connoisseur, nowadays the forum is overrun by consolefags and idiots who don't care about anything but politics.
There's still some cool threads. I only lurk but I see some interesting stuff from time to time.
Is there some sort of dump post where I can download TES concept art and design documents? I only have a few I got from these threads.
I wanted to reply to Maybe on UESP ? I only got stuff from Yea Forums threads too.
Just get cozy, turn off the twitch streams and multiple monitors, turn up thensound, amd get your ass immersed. Or else

Here you go.
love you guys, thanks
Morrowind makes Yea Forums look like literal NPCs
>"Morrowind is a good game!"
>"Why?"
>"Because it has a good story."
>"What about the gameplay?"
>"uh.......ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Back to Ribbit!"
Is it true the guy took amphetamines to write the lore in morrowind? The best shit i've ever read
Gameplay is fine. You wouldn't complain about rolling dices in a turn based RPG ? If you think of Morrowind like one everything in the gameplay start making sense. It's exactly that, a turn based rpg that just happened to have it's turns removed.
I am thoroughly enjoying my battlemage playthrough. And I had a few hundred hours in oblivion and over a thousand in skyrim. I missed the older rpg style and went back for it
>Gameplay is fine.
lol
It's from another time, when RPG games were directly influenced by diceroll tabletops such as d&d
Can somebody help me decipher Todds handwriting for quick readings
Explain your problems with it, then ?
Are there any mods that will allow me to enjoy the story but fix the shit graphics / gameplay?
No you suck.
No.
Mad cuz bad
it was bad then too
No feedback, floaty combat, floaty animations, infodump NPCs, stamina system sucks ass.
That's what I thought.
lol that's not why it's bad, nice try kid
no one's missing anything.
Wow, all the drawbacks of a PnP dice system without any of the positives!
no it doesn't.
ugly
nothing unique about it, and iit has no more freedom han any other mediocre "open" world game
reminder to try out multiplayer
cringe
why would you want to subject yourself to that trash?
Stop pretending you were even alive when this game came out, underage.
lol this guy took drugs! that makes his generic and derivative writing good!
>its a turn based rpg
>but not really
gameplay is shit just like the armor design
which is why it's garbage
game's still shit :)
>YEAH WELL THE GAME IS KIND OF SHITTY OK BUT THE LORE IS NICE
Keep proving me right, MORONwindfags
played it in high school on the original xbox fagboy
>No feedback, floaty combat, stamina system sucks ass.
The rest doesn't affect gameplay. Stamina system sucks yes, can't deny that but the problem disappear as you gain levels. The feedback is only a problem for arrows but if you use enchanted arrows the problem is solved. For the floaty combat, true. I think the game is better using magic.
What positive are missing ?
Yeah it's a weird idea but that's the way it was for those old games. It's like the last one to do that probably.
Yes.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
What if I like the game but I never played it back then ? I was only playing RTS at the time, zero nostalgia.
> Gameplay is fine
Have you ever played any game other than Morrowind?
I am wondering if such a shit opinion comes from ignorance or a tumor.
Yes. I'm not saying that it's good, just that it isn't so bad you can't play. The game is still good even with it.
No he copy pasted the Hindu faith into TES.
He is an alcoholic not a drug addict.
When he lost the adult supervision the quality of his work cratered.
i played it when it came out and it was shit
stop pretending you're over 18, kid
I would say you were lying.
Every thread that nostalgia is brought up there is always the bog standard "I just started this for the first time and it was amazing."
>floaty combat, floaty animations
You have absolutely no idea what the word floaty means do you?
What a wonder, people can have different tastes.
I don't think there is a single game that only nostalgiafags can enjoy.
Also I wasn't even playing video games yet when it came out, I started a bit later.
He means floaty compared to Monster Hunter maybe.
You have the stamina of an obese asthmatic chain smoker at the start.
Your initial walking seed is glacial.
If you use auto run you stop constantly to refill the stamina bar.
Good luck if you get into a fight at low stam.
Who thought this was a good idea?
Based
Yes people with shitty taste exist.
I think the chances someone with shitty taste who just started Morrowind happens to be in every thread nostalgia is brought up is not very likely.
I am no mathematician but I think those are long odds.
The MQ was top tier in so many ways.
From pacing to content.
So you are wrong on that part.
You are correct about every other aspect though.
>at the start
It's an RPG faggot, you start as a shitty prisoners who just spent years in the imperial prisons. You're nothing. But once you start leveling up everything you said is gone. And it isn't even long before you start being super powerful. That's actually a big flaw of the game, not being challenging.
Morrowind is super famous, lot's of people try it for the first time all the time. And since a lot of people even now are liking it maybe it isn't a bad game ? What makes you hate it so much, re you a Daggerfallfag ?
bad taste
Most people don't sprint everywhere.
wrong
it's floaty, you have brain damage?
> Down the line it doesn't suck.
I'll take your word for it.
That juice isn't worth the squeeze.
sure, you can have my taste, or you can have wrong taste.
False
it was boring derivative trash
>kid
You sound like an insufferable faggot when you say this.
false
You get punished if you do so I can see why.
I do, I just wait 1 hour for my stamina to refill when I'm about to start a combat.
So everything you don't like is bad and wrong ? I think I already understood that.
stay mad kid
that's righr faggot, correct your preferences or die
I don't think not correcting them will make me die more than any other living creature.
lol shut up gayboy
The MQ was outstanding.
You dealt with a provincial matter so faffing about made sense.
The MQ in the latter two games had some disconnect with picking flowers while the world was ending.
Granted it would be difficult to go back to a smaller scale MQ after two world ending threats.
Yeah, I agree.
It was my first game in that style and boy was it shit. Beautiful and incredibly sounding shit, though.
I've grown to respect Morrowind for all the little things it had, but I always hated (and still hate) the disaster of a gameplay it had.
I remember dropping it after a few days and starting Arx Fatalis only to be shocked how awesome games could actually get.
Straighter than you, faggot.
>hit enemy
>it doesn't hit
cute feet
Arx Fatalis is got tier.
>trying to make a ninja character
>all vanilla throwing weapons suck major ass
how good is 'AoE arrows' plugin?
>not unique
Really? Where did you see this before?
How do you unzip your cock?
Dunno but you can choose an option to be able to enchant arrows and other projectiles in Morrowind Code Patch.
I remember turning it off because I thought they were too powerful, despite being an official plugin.
STICKY FINGAZ
The vanilla throwing weapons are not bad actually in terms of DPS, the only problem is there's not any restocking vendors for the highest tier ones so it's easy to run out. The AoE Arrows free DLC is good if only because it puts a shop in Vivec with restocking ones up to glass (I think), and the enchantments on all their ammo and shit are strong.
Note that thrown weapons count as both the weapon and the projectile, which means their true damage is actually double what you see on their tooltip. You can throw them much faster than it takes to fire a bow or crossbow, and they free up a hand for a shield.
When you get to Tribunal you'll have a regenerating source of ridiculously OP darts you can loot from the robots that do like 200 damage per hit.
>Diceroll combat
OH NO NO NO
It's okay just boring for half of it.
...there's nothing there.
>on the original xbox
see, that's the issue
This game has an incredible pleb/casual filter.
>muh chosen hero
gay and bland
nah ur gay
my game where you're the chosen hero of prophecy, so basically any game
Yes.
nah the issue is it's a dumb game for babies
it filters out people with good taste
Considering this comment is coming from you on Yea Forums, it means literally nothing.
I knew. I fucking knew the moment I heard this game was going free that this board would be bombarded by tasteless zoomers who can't comprehend a game that has actual stats and no giant arrow telling them where to go.
god I miss video games that created a completely new world. He's right: nothing is real in RPGs any more. Witcher 3 did this way too much and it pissed me off.
I love how in any game that zoomers refuse to learn the game mechanics, they call it "bad" and "clunky", when in reality they are lazy ADHD shitters that can't stop to learn anything new
Yes, and Morrowind thoroughly dissects and examines what it means to be the prophesied hero, instead of just using at as an excuse for your role like most other games.
Imagine judging an entire game based on the quality of textures used on its road signs
Nah, willing yourself into becoming the prophesied hero is pretty cool, as is all the lore surrounding Nerevar and the Tribunal.
Yr'oue a pobraly dylseixc of pciec siht.
>good story
nope it's good because of the rpg systems
This
I played it a bunch as a kid. Thought it was pretty cool. I learned about game mods on Morrowind and never looked back
The part where the wizard falls out of the sky and has scrolls of icarian flight on him was imho the most memorable part. That and the fact that Vivec was literally half dark elf and an immortal god king, and he was just a character living in the town.
It was a pretty cool RPG for its time. a lot more open ended than most rpg's of the time. In my eyes it was the first great open world rpg
What it's free ? God damn, that explain all the retarded sudden hate.
Never played Witcher 3, can you explain ? I'm curious.
It's unironically the best elder scrolls
Not even true. I played it after I played Skyrim and I enjoyed it immensely.
the biggest thing for me is that 99% of NPCs are basically like GTA NPCs. They spawn randomly and walk around the world doing nothing instead of living in it. Even the named characters don't follow schedules (go to work, go home) 99% of buildings have nothing going on in them and most settlements, again, are completely empty. It's not like TES or Gothic where it feels "lived-in." I prefer RPGs to be like TES or Gothic where the worlds are small as fuck and don't try to convince you that it's as large as real life.
when you have the former, everything you're doing in the game is immersive as fuck because you have a sense of interaction with every location and person in the game. When you're making an open world like the latter (GTA-like) then the gamification because extremely apparent. When you have a thousand NPCs with no personality or sense of place, there might as well be none. There are a thousand NPCs on screen, but I can't do anything with them or to them. When the game world is sterile, even though it *looks* real, the interactive elements pop forward and you can see them so clearly it doesn't feel like you're in a new world anymore. Instead of feeling like there are an infinite amount of things to do in the world, it just becomes extremely apparent that all you can do are the things the game as scripted our for you
>I can clear these bandit camps
>I can talk to these 3 NPCs and perform their quests
>I can see the next part of the main story
>I can hunt this monster
etc etc.
Witcher 3 does this style of open world better than any other game, but I still think it's worse than TES or Gothic. Having most of your NPCs be named, having them all have a home and a job, having each community have a specific purpose and culture in the world is so much more fun and meaningful in an RPG than these sandbox games attempting to pass of as realistic.
