Path of Exile is out today on PS4.
Should I play it or is it a huge timesink with microtransactions?
Path of Exile is out today on PS4
don't play it, the community has already gone to shit
Its updates ruined it. It is legit worse than diablo 3 now.
Yes, PoE is basically the definition of a timesink, however I got a few hundred hours out of it. It's certainly the best ARPG game out right now.
If you aren't playing on PC don't bother.
How does trading work on consoles?
It's a timesink and the way the skill system works you eventually sink all your resources into powering up one skill which becomes really boring. It's good for one playthrough but that's about it.
Wasn't this the game where wizards put all their points into strength and fighters all into intelligence?
they are overcrowding it with content and take too long to rebalance things........ its still good tho
some items reward you for stacking int/str/dex, regardless of your "class".
>I have never played a Diablo game/clone
I don't understand why people who don't like the genre come into these threads.
It's not worse than D3 but it has been steadily shifting into being more and more like D3. These days your build is considered shit if you don't clear the screen with one hit.
No, that was pillars of Eternity with its bizarre stat system.
Though Path of Exile has niche options for that if you want, with things like Iron Will for mages and Hand of Wisdom and Action for warriors.
This was meant for my bad.
>No, that was pillars of Eternity with its bizarre stat system
Oh well, thanks and excuse my confusion.
I've played every diablo game plus Titan Quest and Grim Dawn and all of them are better than PoE. Yes, even D3.
Why do you think that?
Because while the others may not have the infinite content of Path of Exile (which is its best selling point, I'll admit), their combat is way, way more fun. Gotta have fun playing if you're going to spend 100s of hours grinding.
Sounds like you like slow-paced games, which is fine. Path of Exile used to be quite slow. Nowadays it's a ADHD festival.
Diablo 3's engine is amazing I will give you that but TQ is just as much of a stiff piece of shit as PoE.
My advice:
Start in SSF. Trade completely ruins progression.
Avoid /poeg/.
PC version is definitely preferable. PoE is a diablo-clone so it's by definition a timesink, although the lore is pretty good if you stay only for the main game.
Microtransactions are cosmetic + stash tabs. You can definitely play endgame (at least on PC) with the basic 4 tabs by occasionally booting up another client window and trading shit to your 2nd account.
Try it out for yourself, don't listen to us.
I am so done with running 10 acts for every single new character. I wish they could just let vets start with Zana at lv65-ish.
I'd like an option to run endless ledge or something to level.
>start SSF
>never progress because shit you need doesn't drop after 200 hours
Nice advice faggot.
>grind endlessly
>new patch out
>your build is obsollete
>grind again
oh and there are chinese gold farmers everywhere
>Start in SSF. Trade completely ruins progression.
>Avoid /poeg/.
poeg is great place honestly, very friendly anons.
Play it for my redhead gf - Zana.
You can target farm most things. There are however fewer builds that have an easy time running through the game SSF.
>have to restart the game when the ladder resets
Are these threads literally full off underage retards who never played Diablo 2?
who said anything about ladder you blind bonobo?
Slayer as the poster boy?
What kind of sick joke is this
New patch usually means new league. They very, very rarely nerf braindead shit mid-league.
>he doesn't finish the campaign at 65
>bitches about it taking too long
???
What is this supposed to mean? Are you retarded?
No it isn't. Even if the current Synthesis league mechanic isn't stellar this game is worlds beyond fucking Diablo 3 you casual clown.
Just stop asking about it on Yea Forums, people here are clueless as fuck. This thread is an embarrassment.
>unironically using 'fun' as an argument on Yea Forums
Not even him but do you have brain problems? How did you come to that conclusion from his post?
You don't pick builds that use very rare build enabling uniques in SSF. And if you do, it is something you can target farm via div cards without needing the item.
I remember the Slayer looking way cooler than that picture
I love path of exile. I'm at 500 hours and i'd definitely recommend it.
However it's not other ARPGs such as diablo 3 or grim dawn, it's more similar to diablo 2 where you build your character around 1 skill then you spam that until you reroll.
There's a lot of fun to be had by having tons of different tools available and using combinations of skills rather than blowing up one to oneshot everything. In Diablo 3 you run around, vacuum enemies and use 2-3 skills to clear the pack since it's cooldown reliant. Path of Exile is the complete opposite.
The absolute best thing about PoE is the absurd amount of content GGG is creating which makes it easier to get back into the game.
