Was he robbed?

Was he robbed?
>Had an amazing grand return with Origins and Legends
>Good, long relationship with Nintendo (including exclusive content for their respective versions of Legends)
>Had 3 trophies from his series in Smash Wii U
And he didn't even make it in as an assist trophy

No

Legends was originally gonna be an exclusive. Ubisoft went back on that promise so I believe Nintendo barred Rayman from Smash.

We owe nothing to Rayman in the video game industry, it's just a series of good platformers. It hasn't contributed into shaping the video game landscape or creating tropes.

This
Ubisoft should be glad they even gave them trophies/spirits

If we go with that logic then why are Bayonetta and Joker in the game

Japanese privilege

Nintendo probably don't even care about that anymore considering they've let Ubisoft use their golden boy in a crossover with the Rabbids of all things

Joker’s the most recent and successful protagonists from the SMT series, one of the best JRPG franchises of all time. He deserves to get in (although I’m a dumb boomer and would’ve preferred Jack Frost). Bayonetta is whatever though.

>Legends was gonna be exclusive but they held it back specifically to port it to other consoles
>Ubisoft then proceeded to hold finished games hostage from the Wii U
That's why he's never going to be in.

Joker is technically part of SMT which us a big deal (Pokemon owes its existence to it) and Nintendo has vested interest in Bayo

Bayo is practically first party now. Nintendo's funded the last two games exclusively

>muh patterns
if ubisoft and nintendo made a mario + rabbids game, what makes you think nintendo is only gona put japanese stuff in smash?

>He deserves to get in
No he doesn't. He doesn't have enough to do with Nintendo.

Thats a funny looking rabbid
isnt that that guy from that rabbids game?

I was only joking, but to be honest, Japan is a pretty big factor against Rayman. Both Legends & Origins couldn't sell more than 20 000 copies in Japan, and those are the best selling titles of the franchise in Japan. Mario & Rabbids may have sold actually decently over there, but Rayman's nowhere to be found on that game.

I doubt Nintendo gives a shit now cause Mario+Rabbids, until recently, Nintendo was incredibly conservative about lending their IPs to other people and Ubisoft's Mario+Rabbids was one of the first big major crossover games with a non Japanese company.

Unless your name is Pikachu, Sakurai will never put in a mascot character over the protagonist (unless they are the same character like Pac-Man). We got Cloud instead of Black Mage, Joker instead of Black Frost, it looks like we'll get Erdrick over Slime, etc.

Neither did Cloud

Cloud shouldn't be in the game either.

ya made a pretty good point right there

Cloud represent Final Fantasy which does have history. It's a weird situation where Square's stinginess seems to mean they could only use the bare minimum of assets, and the most popular and most demanded game in the series was never featured on a Nintendo platform until recently. I'm sure if they were more cooperative we would have seen a broader representation on Final Fantasy.

Bayonetta got in because she won the ballot, not because of gaming history credentials.
