Tropico 4 was great too but 5 just sucked and killed the series

Tropico 3 Steam Edition was the peak of the series.
Tropico 4 should have never existed.
Tropico 5 rolled back a lot of the bullshit from 4, but never hit Tropico 3 levels of fun.

what are you talking about? 4 was better and 5 killed it.

tropico 6 looks like absolute ass

post your jams

What do you think went wrong with 5? I felt something was off but never could put that into words

There is no 5. Only 3,4, and 4.5.

What happened to 6? Wasn't that supposed to come out last year? We were finally getting bridges.

4 was soulless. Tropico 3 ran better and had more to do with all of the expansions. The final Tropico 4 Steam Edition felt too empty and lifeless. The only thing I liked was the enormous residential highrises.

why is it so charming?

What do you mean Soulless?

>not posting the absolute best

its impressive how this game only has like 8 songs but you never get tired of them

according to steam it will be released in like 3 days
but its best to ignore 6 since they introduced waaaay more le random funni XD stuff like stealing the statue of liberty and eifel tower with the help of pirates using old pirate ships

just need commieblocks and uneducated policeofficers then its done

good taste user

>"I will bring DIVERSITY to tropico!!!"

wait
is that true???

>This
>Soulless
4 was great. Was it basically 3-2? Yeah, but it doesn't detract from the fact that it's a solid game

4 was when it was getting too cartoony and silly desu

>Also says in trailer that El Presidente will "Make Tropico Great Again"
Tropico's always played both sides of the spectrum

While I agree the series is getting a bit too cartoony (like the monument stealing mechanic in 6), it was still charming in 4. All of your advisors have memorable designs and voices, and I can still remember them to this day, despite not having played it in years.

The same problem all Tropico games have - it's shallow as fuck and nothing that they added really makes the game play any differently from 3/4. It's also easy as pie and there's really no point in oppressing anyone you can make so much money you can just run all the popularity boosting laws and edicts without having to even try.

Yeah, the monument stealing thing is pretty meh, but everything else looks solid. From what I saw, the game plays more like 4 and 3 instead 5, and the islands actually have some diversity now instead of just being boring flat lands with unbuildable-on flat mountains

I loved 3 but skipped both 4 (seemed to bring very little new to the table) and 5 (more innovative but generally considered a step-back at release) so far.

Which one should I play until Tropico 6 GOTY (a/k/a Tropico 6) comes out?

play 3 for 2 more days because 6 is releasing soon

The joke being that Tropico is still a shithole in every sense of the word.

>Era system was a neat idea, but poorly implemented; None felt unique, and you could speed through each fairly quick
>Portraits and Advisors had all the soul sucked out of them
>Citizens felt less personal and more like numbers
>Buildings no longer had modes that they could operate in
>Era system sacrificed the 1960s Banana Republic Vibe from the previous games
>Buildings only placeable in Grid System, removing uniqueness to areas
>Farms and mines felt more industrial and precise
>Relations with superpowers piss-easy to maintain, you'll never have to worry about getting blockaded or invaded
>El Presidente Dynasty was a meh mechanic since you can just stick with the same guy from the 1800s to the 2000s
>Manager System was tedious to organize
>Radio replaces Sunny and Penultimo with some loud whore
Did I miss anything?

What about Console Release?

>playing a rts on console
