It's literally impossible to be a serios speedrunner and not be autistic. Only a true autist can possibly enjoy doing the same thing over and over for months or even years to perfect it.

Unironically speedrunning attracts people on the spectrum. It's an exceedingly repetitive task that rewards knowledge of the game system in a way that allows you to control it to a certain degree with a very clearly definable sense of progress (the time at the end).
It's a hobby that actively rewards the little things (typically) abnormal in an autistic person's mind.

Coupled with a variety of reasons to like it so that multiple thought processes can feel like they are acting "in service" of something greater. Whether that be the notion of competitiveness, aforementioned easily definable sense of self-improvement, or a conceptual "goal" of cooperatively refining the notion of "beating the game" into the most efficient format possible.
Honestly, the hobby of speedrunning plays on the same ideas that the zachtronics games like Opus Magnum do.
