>OutRUN
>you drive car
fuck sega

not real racing

any good?

It's "Outrun"
Just because you can add "-like" to a game doesn't make it a fucking thing

Outrun-likesque

Because it is not that good. Racing checkpoints is shit.

One of the reasons why this kind of arcade is dead

youtube.com/watch?v=0lZ2g3BLgkI&t=17m11s
how so?

boring af

They dont sell enough for the time wasted to make a game.
Shame because Outrun 2 and 2006 were pretty good

I don't see how Outrun is good (any of them). You play them for a few minutes, finish them, never go back (no reason to)

fucking faggots I swear, it's not outrunlike it's outrunlite. It's only an outrunlike if its turns are based

spoken like a true David Cage apologist.

Face it, the game has value for a single run and that's it. It's the kind of game that "oh, ok, this exist", it's fun for a moment and you gain nothing for going back to it. Video game history wouldn't miss this entire franchise, this is how little value those games have

What Outrun games are generally considered best?

They're all the same. For the original game you should play the arcade version (source ported to PC is the best version). After this play anything, doesn't matter

>what is, enjoy a fucking game
>what is, replay a short game or arcade mode often
>what is, getting better at a game
>thinking you can beat a game like this in a first run

Right, you play a game, throw it away, never get back to it and go into the next game.

Good points but
>there is no enjoyment possible after some minutes because the game is boring/repetitive
>no reason to replay it in any other mode, it's the same thing over and over again
>no point in "getting better" at a game that takes zero skill to play (all of them)
>yes

2006

recommend me a good outrunvania game

Don'tplayOutrunia it's the best one. You get the skill to get away from this bad game and don't waste your time with it

faggot, outrun was groundbreaking at the time. it made sega a lot of money. you clearly don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about but you're running your mouth anyway like you're waiting for a dick to fall in.

>"oh, ok, this exist"
you just summed up your whole life lmao

You could say the same about Quake.
>hu, I finished it!

>>no point in "getting better" at a game that takes zero skill to play (all of them)
never played Slipstream or Outrun 2, as we can see.

So "made a lot of money" = important? You sure I'm the one that don't know what I'm talking about?

You're talking about one of the most influential multiplayer fps experiences of all time? Oh yeah, that surely applies.
I've played all the Outrun games, fuck Slipstream if it's anything similar to those games

>You're talking about one of the most influential retro racing experiences of all time? Oh yeah, that surely applies.

Who mentioned daytona usa?

Rogue fags are the worst most obnoxious people of any group. All they do is gate keep their genre.

>RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEEEEEEEEEEEEEER

faggot

because nowadays it's one of two choices: or purely arcade burnout-style racing, or absolute autism simracing
ironically GT does nicely at both, specially the outrun-style Rally de la Sierra in 6
not the same kind of racing.
also RRT4>Rage Racer>other Ridge Racers

ACTHUALLY
Slipstream is a mix of Outrun and Ridge Racer (drift mechanics and slipstream mechanics)

I don't know if anyone know but there is an outrun source port like thing called cannonball.
I also don't really like outrun all that much now, I played the genesis version a lot as kid but it actually sucks and arcade version I really want to play but its almost unplayable on emulators with normal controls. controls are kinda weird probably because the game is meant to be played on analog controls.
I am more of an overtop/driftout kind of guy.
also does anyone know the name of the game on sega megadrive which was like outrun but you could shoot from your car

Are we gonna post some Outrun clips or fucking what?

Fire & Forget?

youtube.com/watch?v=T85U62lLRAI

fire and forget 2 does look like how I remember but its on Sega master system and we only had mega drive as kid

thats the one. good catch user

Because the industry realized how great it was and decided that good racing games are not allowed

or maybe the era of designing a game around draining the player of coins ended

>ended
???

defeatist

>PC gaming

>I suck
I know, get better at OutRun

Huh?

>two choices
You forgot rally chads.
