mobile VR is neat but the performance isn't there

Ahem

looks perfectly fine considering its running on a mobile processor at 72hz

PSVR is already barely passable when you actually use it, I can only imagine how bad mobile VR is.

I can get Odyssey+ or a Rift at the same price. Which one should I go for?

vive

bold prediction but I think the current VR trend will gradually subside over the next few years before game developers become more familiar with the platform and the games start to improve. but eventually it will really surge because the good games on it just don't compare to the non-VR alternatives. take RE7

Wait for Rift S, Windows Mixed Reality headsets only have front facing camera tracking and aren‘t worth it

Since the rift S is more of a side-grade then a upgrade, pc vr is dead

>Sex? No thanks, Stacy. I'd rather watch JAV on my PSVR with DMM. Now, where's my tenga...

I most popular games in PCVR atleast aren't all that graphically impressive. Beat Saber, Pavlov, etc.

there is definitely some stuff the Quest won't be capable of though
youtube.com/watch?v=MG3XdSrZYzo

>Skyrim VR is still the only decent VR open world adventure game
>spend days modding it
>it crashes incessantly and is almost unplayable
>can't go back to vanilla because it pales in comparison
>cant quit because there are no alternatives
This is a curse.

Skyrim isn't any better due to VR, if anything it makes combat even worse.
Only bow shooting is passable and otherwise there is no worthwhile VR interaction to speak of.

It's not about pretty, it's about smooth. I'm fine with the games looking like X360 games graphically, hell, Wipeout Omega (literally a PS3 game) in VR would probably be the best VR title around if it wasn't locked into PSVR's shitty headset with trash screens and meh refresh rate.

I skipped the regular Skyrim back when it was new, so the VR verson was my first time playing. When it's working, the immersion in VR is mind blowing. Even if it played better, I couldn't imagine ever going back to the regular version of the game. I have played regular skyrim for 20 minutes or so and it just doesn't compare, in my view. Again, immersion is my priority, not playability.

Despite PSVR potentially allowing for 120 frames with reprojection, most are actually running at 60.
The Quest will run at 72 hertz which should be a slight improvement. I've seen many people who used the Oculus Go say that 60 is noticeably unsmooth, while apps that run at 72hz are much easier on the eyes.

We will have to see, but it's a good thing Oculus seems to be strictly moderating their store for the Quest and only allowing games running at a consistent 72.

haha aren't you just epic OP?

>HTC is dying
Why though?

>>HTC is dying
This actually true? Got a Vive for a good deal around late 2017, but most of my time spent on it has been in VRchat (a passed on phase here, but I did make some really cool friends in it)
And while I'm not remotely surprised by Valve "not doing anything", wished they'd update the steam room some more.
Haven't touched my VR in over 6 months though due to having moved a bunch of furniture around, and have to move everything back to use it again and I'm fucking lazy.

Attached: 0.jpg (480x360, 46K)

I lost interest in Skyrim VR because I played the original and got bored of it. I knew what I was getting into and modding cannot keep my attention that much.
Someday I'll reinstall it and focus on archery because magic was really underwhelming and a pain in the ass just to select different spells.
I skipped FO4 and had a blast with FO4VR. Discovering things in VR is very exciting.
You are lucky to discover Skyrim for the first time in VR.

>4.2 million sales for the VR headset only is a good number

Attached: confused Vergil.jpg (778x813, 362K)

God damnit you kids, what is this new fangled form of shitposting?

HTC's profit is like 0.01% of it's revenue...and that was in 2016. They are probably in the red now. They just keep making vaporware announcements when oculus despite heading down a road of shit has actual working products that are launching soon.

Opinion on the Vive knuckle controllers? I think they look to work fairly well

>Oculus Quest will sell widely more units than Rift S

Yeah, let's see about that. The basics for what I would want still aren't in place.

>is PC VR finished

All optional game peripherals for PC have been dead on arrival for thirty years. Not just the expensive ones, but those especially.

Since 1992, the ONE new input/output method it has grown viable to demand from players is a scrollwheel on the mouse.

All other development has been in processing power, memory, storage space, and internet speed.

He didn't say it was a good number.
It just happens to be the best number that anyone has achieved so far.

They improved on rather crucial areas like ease of use and pricing.

I'd say that was a good bid on how to bring in a larger user base, compared to only focusing on stronger tech.

It's still abismal considering everything. It's barely a twentieth of the sold PS4 consoles, meaning the market share for PSVR is still abysmal to say the least. Why Sony chose to kill the Vita but support this is beyond me.

Attached: nosmiles.jpg (280x330, 58K)

4k Monitors with memesync have been doing fine... and so have mechanical backlit RGB oled keyboards and the same with ridiculous gaming mice.

Your thesis btfo dead in the water.

People burn money to make their shitty pointless lives seem meaningful; the only thing holding back VR is the social optics of using it. It's only a matter of time before it passes the new technology phase and becomes cool enough for normies to adopt it's use.

>Yeah, let's see about that. The basics for what I would want still aren't in place.
elaborate

>sony sold 4.2 million PSVR headsets
The important part user. It shows that even if the technology/quality increase has to be slower, because they are having to sell cheaper, when even with like five 'full' games people are interested and will adopt. I got my PSVR at Christmas. Sure, when playing Skyrim I feel like I'm a mage/stealth-archer who has sight issues due to the downscaled textures and blur/pixels, but tailor made shit like Arkham VR, London Hesit, and Star Trek look amazing.

Get me a PS4 (or PS5?) VR fantasy MMO and I'll probably forget to eat and sleep.

Attached: #.gif (540x540, 2.45M)

How long do you think I'll have to wait until Valve releases their Headset+Knuckless?
I'm waiting for them before diving in. Don't wanna buy anything now only to find out I can't play whatever H-L VR they put out to go along with their hardware.

Sure, it's a complete joke, and the people that do own PSVR apparently aren't even super likely to purchase any of the software that works with it.

Concerning Vita though, those two aren't really related in such a way.
Vita had been kept alive for a long time despite not being good business, so it had to go.

PSVR might not be good business, but it's important to give off the idea as a mediatech giant that you're investing where the future might be, and that you come off to users as willing to support your products for at least a reasonable period of time.

Vita was a PSP2. Will there be a PSVR2? Maybe, maybe not.

There wasn't a Buzz 2, or a proper Move 2. They all have a bit in common with their ancestor EyeToy though, so while PSVR might be left to die soon, it's rise again in some form or other. And Sony will eventually have a handheld system again.

The second we get something to the scale of GTA or WoW/FFXIV where you can actually 'be' in the game is the day VR takes off and never loses ground again. People have wanted that shit since gamign started. Especially since it will soon be the only escape from the dystopia the world is going to become.

>4k Monitors with memesync have been doing fine... and so have mechanical backlit RGB oled keyboards and the same with ridiculous gaming mice.
>Your thesis btfo dead in the water.

No, it isn't.
Neither of those are required for playing any game at all.

Whereas proper VR games are likely to require a VR set. And it's going to be a while before you can expect people to have something like that.

>400$

Proper pupil tracking and hand tracking.

Until those are in place, I don't care.

More like they lose more money again.

But they're laying important groundwork for cultivating a market that someone else can run away with, so credit where credit is due.

>Skyrim isn't any better due to VR
I disagree to an incredible degree. I played plenty of the standard game at release, got my moneys worth, but it has always been my least favorite TES game. I think the land of Skyrim is dull, I don't especially enjoy snowy climates or find notvikings all that fun, and even the scenery felt drab and less distinct than previous titles.

But the first time I made the climb to Bleak Falls Barrow I was hood. Noticing the inclines were a lot steeper looking when 'you' are climbing them. The size and scale of what had been boring ruins, looming over me as the snow blew past, was amazing. Seeing a 7 foot Nord zombie swing an axe at me, eyes glowing blue. Walking through spider webs.

My curse is I'm on PSVR and so I can't go explore Aether Suite, nude mod, or play FO4VR.

>/virtual reality/
Nigga /vg/ wasn't created for nothing

VR is integrated into current gen game engines and will probably be in all future ones too. I mean it already has windows 10 integration since microsoft is also pushing it. Pretty much any normal game developed on big name engines will have VR as an optional addon.

Thesis washed up and rotting on a tropical beach.

Re7 sold me on the psvr. I loved it.

I have approximately 250 plugins and over 400 mods activated total

>vr fags are redditards
Who would have thought?

Search for conflicts.
It may not be apparent, but try deactivating groups of mods to see which griuo the culprit mod is in,

We are not talking about the same thing, user.

And that's okay.

If you're just talking about whether games that can be played with regular KBM will also support the current level of specialty VR gear available to PC users, then of course. There will be plenty of that.

But VR as a centerpiece design aspect isn't particularly likely to be a big thing on PC for quite a long time.Games will be designed for regular screens and regular controls at the outset, and the VR functionality will be an additional afterthrought utilized by the developers that have the time and means to include it.

What you're calling a thesis is not a thesis. I'm pointing out the actuality of the situation PC game developers are in, where the input/output you can expect a PC end-user to have available is a keyboard, and a mouse with three buttons and scroll functionality for input, and one 2d color monitor and stereo sound for output. Nothing more. If playing your base game demands more physical equipment than that, people will complain and your sales will suffer.

i havent been following the pc vr scene
will the new device not require a pc?
how powerfull will it be? better than psvr?

I think the joke is that nobody goes to /vg/ unless they they are looking to have a bad time, user, but please, advertise that other meme site whenever you can.

Ask Mark.

Yeah, I know. It's just a pain in the ass to troubleshoot with so many mods. I have a feeling that it's the result of all my mods expanding settlements and adding clutter and NPCs. Maybe I installed one too many and the game just couldn't handle it anymore. It sucks, since I sure do like them. As you said though, I just have to go down the list until I find the problem.

Playing VR in 30 FPS ... is that ... acceptable? Or are they gonna make a dedicated console for it, which I'm okay with. Make some sort of VR Booth thing that costs enough to run VR games at high quality and high fps ... but that would likely raise the price, which would leat to it selling less, which would lead to less games and so on. So it seems the only way to get more VR, is to cut corners in order to cut prices in order to sell them to more people who won't save up to buy a over 1000$ dollar product, for gaming.

>No Man's Sky Free VR update

Time to buy a copy before retailers bumps the price of the game.

I've found traditional controls VR games far more fun than vive wagglers anyway, so that situation doesn't bother me at all.

Can you put custom Beat Saber songs on it? Beat Saber is only good because of Beat Saver.

they are going to have to make games that look like absolute shit or port PC games one by one reducing the amount of triangles of each asset back to the PS1 era

Most likely not cause it's a locked down system

Quest is 72hz and the games look decent

uploadvr.com/dead-and-buried-rift-quest/

PSVR runs at 60fps

it has 50% discount on Steam till April 1st. Grab it while you can

Doesn't bother me either.
Current level VR tech would be a waste of time for developers to center their experences around anyway.

Are there any good communities on VR?

The only place I lurk on occasion is /r/Vive and I feel dirty doing so.

r/oculus isn't terrible and unlike r/vive allows for news on other HMDs

>Games will be designed regular controls
oh pretty please?
fuck all that standing and teleporting trash

>4k Monitors with memesync have been doing fine
TV have, not monitors. the panels makers can afford the loss

VR was fun for an hour.

dude just use vortex and loot and maybe trim the fat a little. It shouldn't crash often if you aren't a retard about it

If I have the need of buying a vr set, which one would you recommend me?

i fucking hate reddit but VR news is so sparse i feel like new info only pops in r/vive rather than here or any where else. not this guy, but is their a discord or some place i can go to get semi-accurate news updates on VR stuff?

>vortex

>vortex
>not using MO2

I wouldn't recommend it with so many disruptive technologies just around the corner, but if I personally had to buy something right now, I'd get a Rift S.

I dunno about that considering how many russians/koreans/japs play VRChat. It's actually hard to find english speaking people with all these foreigners running around.

>so many
like which ones ???

Unironically the Quest

It will get popular game ports like Beat Saber and whatever Oculus fund developers to put on it, is completely wireless has an OLED screen as high resolution as the Vive Pro, for only 400$
Watching porn on it will be great because no wires and high res, and thats what most people end up using VR for anyway

Attached: hhhhhhhhmhmmm.png (301x461, 124K)

>runs on phone hardware
>no major VR titles or ports
it's a good choice if you can't afford a PC or travel a lot, otherwise wouldn't bother

Vr is still small, but has grown in monthly users steadily over the last year. The oculus go shipped over a million units as a very basic 3dof headset, i think the quwst might break lifetime sales of 5 million. Vr might take off this year, we will have to see.

Rift S is a good choice. Pretty much the best tracking (not counting Rift or Vive which are gettting outdated), best controllers, Oculus ecosystem is solid, Steam support.
Releasing within weeks

Htc sales have been sluggish. Im not happy about it but its true.

KNUCKLES FUCKING WHEN

lmao no
I already have a headset with better resolution than what Oculus has shown, their halfdome project won't be sitting around
We know Valve has a headset in the works which devs have been using under NDA
Oculus has talked multiple times about the importance of eye tracking allowing for foveated rendering (the eye actually has awful fidelity on things it isn't looking at, your brain just does an amazing job of hiding that) which would cut down on the PC requirements of high resolution VR, rendering ~20 times less pixels
Anyone who has tried old Tobii eye tracking tech knows it's doable
Right now headsets are not sufficiently legible for a full range of experiences, or comfy shitposting

They are shooting themselves in a foot with high pricing. $1200 for Vive Pro setup, original Vive $499, new Vive Focus Plus announced to be $799, despite it's the same as Rift S..

I'd say I month before Star Citizen

I know the dev posts here you cheeky cunt

Some stripped down version, yes, but it won't have Elite Dangerous, Lone Echo, Contractors/Onward/Pavlov or countless other games of that calibre, aswell as new big upcoming releases(Asgards Wrath, Defector, Stormland, Lone Echo2).
Also no major ports like No Mans Sky, Forest, Skyrim/Fallout4, Subnautica, Borderlands etc..
People constantly bitching about small VR games library, well it will be much smaller on Quest. At least for now

It's not going to die, at least Valve won't. As for Rift, trust Faceberg to fuck anything up. They JUST started with the wireless headset ad-on, and rigth now it's way overpriced. Within a year or so, that will be all the way down. How can you NOT enjoy taking..a pill or pot or whatever your thing is, and being able to lay on your bed, and visit any fuckign corner of the world? Want to go tour the Parthenon? Takes a few seconds. Vatican City? Pompeii? Tokyo?
If you don't get a major hard-on just by doing it, there's something truly fucking wrong with you. Imagine what our ancestors would have given a few hundred years ago to have this kind of tool at their disposal. It's a literal "crystal ball" right out of a fantasy tale that lets you see anywhere in the world.
and as the satellites get better, you'lll beable to..lie in your bed, with a wireless headset, and "tour" Hyde Park in real time. You can always tell the niggers and sub-100 IQs based on who doesn't get excited at the prospect of...reading "the Iliad" and t"he Odyssey" and following the paths of the Journeys in real time. Forge tthe fucking Games, it's worth he shekels for that type of thing alone.

>which would cut down on the PC requirements of high resolution VR, rendering ~20 times less pixels
Fucking poorfags have to ruin shit for everyone. And what pisses me off more than anything, the ones who bitch they can't afford "x" you'll often in the same fucking fucking thread hear them talking about ordering pizza pizza or picking up burger king. That's it, pay the Jew to make you fat, rather than learn to live on bulk tyson chicken, brown rice, and todasco and be able to come home and TOUR THE FUCING WORLD FROM YOUR BED in exchange for not getting fuckign fat on the poison ZOG puts into the food.
By far my biggest problem with the Vive is that it's made lie SHIT and fucking breaks. already brike one, and they don't want to hear about it, and this despite having a padded case for the fucker and pitting everything away.
My Rift and my Samsung VR, have no cases for either of them and have had zero problems with. They're just made a lot fucking better. The Vive, esp the Pro version, the entire front section has a tendency to come off after a time, like they aren't using enough glue to fucking secure it or they didn't size the front part correctly and so it doesn't fit as it's meant it to.

It's not even just poorfags though, 1080ti level GPUs can't run a high enough resolution for the VR that could be made. It's such a massive waste to be rendering the entire screen constantly.

>Unironically the Quest
Depending on waht you want to use it for, the Samsung VR that runs off the newmodels 9what are they 10-- something?) are fine. Quite quite glad I dumped ALL my apple shit after they were donating to the ADL and taking part in censorship. When I first began using apple, they were in the verge of being bankrupt and not for bugmen.
But it was a combo of the commericals they were runnning during the World Cup , the ADL money, and their part incensorship that got me to move to Samsung, which has an amazing OLED screen for cheaper than the bugman apple phone.
VR is not going to be a "money maker" until normies can use it, but consider that Telsa, Twitter, among money others have yet to turn a profit, and yet they are worth billions and billions. Why? As soonas the normies figure it out, they (at leastthink) they'll get their shekels back.
Irony in all this is tht as an older millenialfag, the thinking was always "well, once the younger ones come along who grew up with computers, they'll be better coders, they'll have an intuitive feel for tech, we won't have to worry about making shit that easy to use..."
And, of course, not only are the younger millenals/Z not better, they are fucking WORSE! Whether is is a function of more of them being 56ers or jus tthe girls being instagram thots who never go outside that application and fucking fat, greasy, Z males NEVER having a tech problem they have to fix themselves, I don't know, but it's certainly fucling ironic that the chinks will end up leading the future development of the net.
what's that saying? "White men invent and forget; yellow men steal and remember, negroes do neither."

>1080ti level GPUs can't run a high enough resolution for the VR that could be made
Mate, the 2080ti, the cheaper ones are now $1,200. I' challenge ANY motherfucker on here to completely cut out fast food and soda from their diet for 3 months-- I mean COMPLETELY, and to live, as I described, on bulk drown rice and tyson chicken from costoco, and see if you can't come up with $1,200 or so fo a 2080ti.

>only 4.2M
>win

and MAYBE you cut a few other things, like kikeflix for3-4 months. Do people eeven know that on librevox on Jewtube, ALL the fucking classics that are over ~100 years old, you can listen to completely free? You can listen to..Tacitus, Plutarch, ""war and Peace," all of Dosevsky's works, EVERYTHING you've always said you wanted to lean but never did. Do you give up..buting games, give up kikeflix, and other superflous shit (inclusing diet I've described) for 3-4 months, and watch how quickly your fucking blanace accumulates that $1,200-$1,350 you need for the 2080ti. And what's more, you'll appreicate it a lot more and take care of it since you actually sacrificed for it.

Vr is bad for sightseeing experiences. The fov & resolution is too low, not to mention the screen door effect on most headsets.
Its impossible to not be aware that you've got a screen strapped to your face.

Add to that the entire absence of physical feedback and you've got a system normies will never buy in to.

Vr will never be successful until somebody invents a brain interface that can literally put you into the matrix, or at least stimulate lucid dreams

I thought most psvr games were 90hz?

These literally carbon-copy obviously-botted Facebook shill threads are the only VR threads that can last on nu-Yea Forums.

Odyssey+ at the $300 sale price remains the best value in VR.

Rift S is a fucking mess. Everything about it was designed to make it cheaper (to produce), not better, and then they kept it $400 anyway because they don't want to cannibalize Quest sales. Single panel with fixed IPD, same render resolution as the original Rift (their reported per-eye resolution is straight-up false advertising, they're just dividing the single panels overall resolution, ignoring the loss for the gap between the eyes and lens mask/warp).

HTC has been slowly dying for a decade or more. The Vive (which was really Valves baby, that Valve dropped in their lap as an emergency expediency) was their first big profitable endeavor in many years. They're more 'all in on VR' than anyone. It's all they've got. Unfortunately they're morons and/or already doomed regardless of anything else. Their prices and customer service are both jokes. They're now announcing new HMDs for the sake of it, fracturing and cannibalizing their own product pool without seemingly any concern.

Inside-out CV tracking is SHIT and will always be SHIT (as the sole solution). There will always be massive occlusion problems. The future is in hybrid-standalone units / standalone as a very basic mode of operation for all HMDs, which are intended to connect to external compute and tracking for real VR.

Valve (knuckles this year 99%, HMD this year or next?), Qualcomm (explicit hybrid-standalone focus), Pimax (controllers and base stations full package ship-on-order by end of year), Varjo (most promising display tech), Xtal (consumer version announcement this year), POSSIBLY HTC if they manage to fix their idiocy, are where the future of VR lies. Facebook is OUT of PC VR and entirely focused on their VR-Console platform.

Attached: 6yke2mi.jpg (4032x1960, 848K)

It's curious that icrosoft never put one out just to "test the waters," but they are known for having great ideas and totally fucking them up. for example, when the game Ryse came out a LONGG fuckig time ago, they had an idea that, since you were the general, you could give orders orally as you were fighting and call for your archers to target X or for your calvary to come in and target Y. It was really fucking cool and made you feel "involved" with the game on an entirely different level.
But, of course, the Ms users were TOO FUCKING STUPID to figure out how to properly use it, and I don't think they've tried it again. I assume the reason the Ps VR has done well is bc it's fucking easy to set up, since most retards can't take in the concept of setting up a NVIDIA account, changing the settings, whateer the fuck else you had to do to get the Vive to work. Example, I didn't want to hammer holes in my wall so I bought the two fucking tall poles, but the senors atop them, and pointed the m them at one another perpendicularly. Issue solved. But consider how many retards, esp underage retards, could not gifue that out when mommy and daddy told them "no holes is the fucking wall" and so just went with the PS.
And BTW, selling 4 million of fucking ANYTHING, esp anew technology like that, i a MAJOR fucking success. It's the equivalent to a movie making over a billion dollars.

>2080ti

I'm waiting for Knuckles to go with my Pimax but I don't think Oculus is out of PCVR entirely.
They're just worried by how only enthusiasts can get into VR right now so want to make it a thing with cheap tech first. Can't blame them when you look at things like phone gaming adoption.

>Vr is bad for sightseeing experiences. The fov & resolution is too low, not to mention the screen door effect on most headsets.
>Its impossible to not be aware that you've got a screen strapped to your face.
Don't agree at all. Have you actually tried a Vive Pro? After 3 minutes, you completely forget the screen is even there and get completely sucked into it. Also, if you're, like me, a fucking lawyer who neve rgot to do his history doctorate bc the good schools you got into were so full of commies and Jews (usually one and the same) and kangz types (and this was the fucking medieval and renaissance history dept an an Ivy league school), I just couldn't do it. Decided I'd rather go to a top la school where at least i'd get to travel a fucking shitton and see things that interest me on my off time when traveling for business.
So..for example the other day was reading the book "A Adiststant Mirror" about 13th century France that focuses on the the last male heir of the Coucy family. The pictures on the net were not tht great, so i could immediately bring it up on my vive, and take a VR tour of their property (most of the fuckign tower was destroyed by retreating Germans in WW 1, who didn't want artillery spotters to be able to track them) and it was amazing.
Throughout the book, when the Jewess mentioned a location, a good go to VR, tour the area referenced, and really get a feel for...in many cases the high ground, where the battle took place, etc..
History fags can do the same for WW 2. In fact, it's the primary reason I sepnt as much as I did on a PC, and I can't say I regret it at all. If you're reading a book about ww 2 or really ANYTHING to do with Euro history (ex:, you're listening to podcast about the "reconquista" and want to see up close the cliffs that the Pssniash climbed during the knight to take out the big muslim fortress in the area.. you can do it).
i would have fucking KILLED to have had this available to me as a UG.

I didn't want to say anything but you go on some massive tangential rants, are you on speed or something?

Your enthusiasm is cute but outside of your personal anecdote the results speak for themselves. Normies don't give a shit about VR, and it's not about the price. People drop over a grand on a new phone every couple of years

>You can't travel the world by proxy by looking at pictures of it faggot
Of course you can, you dumb fucking cunt. Can you..stuff your fat face and get laid? No. Is there any substitute for takign a bot tour of the galapagos years ago, and the main bull seal on the island of Isabella goes to te only landing jetty on te island and decides you are NOT landing there, and you need to wait 1.5 hours until the cunt decides to move? Is there a substitute for snorkeling with seals and hammerhead sharks on the main lava beach in the galapagos, going back to ship, meeting a drunk German travel agent, taking her back to your cabin and eating her out, getting a BJ and then pound ing her? No.
BUT, having said all that fucko, IS VR a substitute for... wanting t get an idea of the layout of where the Battle of the Somme took place, and being able to do so in less than 2 minutes? YES, and it's an amazingly effective tool for such things. As well as for...the Seige of Malta and many, many other historical events.

They don't have PC VR dev staff any more, they fired everyone when reabsorbing Oculus to Facebook. Which is why Rift S now has to be commissioned from Lenovo. Rift S is just Oculus-branded WMR, and it is the last thing they'll ever do in PC-VR (barring some major unforeseen developments, which are always possible). They failed to grab hegemony with the Rift, due to Valve/HTC stiff competition, so they are leaving to the more anti-competitive console model.

And yet, you did, didn't you? If you don't like me, or the way I write, if it bothers you, here's an ICREDIBLY novel solution for you: FILTER ME. Now, while it will break my heart and I will cry for a few days (*sniff*) I'll get over, you will get off it, and everyone will be happy. Deal? Oh ok just an /x/ schizo then

>Universal rule of consumer electronics: if you look like a retard while using it, your product will be a flop
Don't buy it. That only holds true for trash like "google glass," since you were mean to use it in public. The only person who would EVER possibly see me using my VT shit is my GF or my Mexican maid, and either are free to leave anytime they want if they don't like how I look while I'm using VR in my own home.

>cosmos

Oh is that just HTC?
I assumed it was a collaboration

>ust an /x/ schizo then
Hmmm. Translation: "This fucker isn't insultd at all by my bullshit, he likes VR, and he has a pretty decent of the tech and a very good knowledge of histroy so..I know, I know how to rile him up! call him an /x/ shizo, even though nothing he has said has a fucking thing to do with /x/, and his knowledge is far superior to tht I have accumulated on R__ (insert bugman board here).
As aleady mentioned fucko, you are in THE WRONG PLACE. This place has survived, just recent, blowback from a fucking mass murder of 50 (and yes, this board got it too). So..yeah, I'v heard much better, and it doesn't work.

If you are good with electrical wiring, I'll seriously send you an Vive pro that isn't working for $300 if you pay posage, obviously inclusing the "wands" and all the cables. The fucking thign is not "broken" in the sense of being actually "not repairable," I just didn't have time to fuck with HTC, I was flush with bitcoin, and just wanted one in working order, so put it to the side and just ordered a new one. If you are serious, I'll send you a pics of it and whatever. I' 95% sure a wire came undone, which is why it just needs someone with a knowledge of electrical wring and it's prob a 5 min job for such a person.

That's what a dev would say.

Oh Gee, now my face is really red, my life is ruined. Some cunt on an anonymous board on Yea Forums-- on a board without even consistent IDs-- claims to think I'm crazy. Well, there goes my life! It's also strange how the people often accused by the normie trash on here of being "crazy" tend to have the most shekels. since my kind actually do our research, take risks, and reap the rewards. What are you doing?
And that...it's not even anime, but the thing you have savest marks you our as playing for the pink team. Anyway, you bore me now. Hve a nice life. Try not to get AIDs. I know what they say, "it's treatable and more of a lifestyle now," but PLEASE don't waste taxes in a Western nation on your gay plague. Thanks! all the best,

But the Switch looks awful from a design stand point.

pirate it

HTC and Valve have been split for a while. The partnership was purely emergency expediency for Valve, to prevent Facebook taking over entirely and/or make sure people understood that their vision of VR (originally seated, forward-facing tracking only, with only a X360 gamepad for input) was low-hanging bullshit not actually representative of what was possible. Valve literally got the news about Facebook Oculus buyout at the same time as everyone else, opened the phonebook to see which electronics companies with strong manufacturing bases had their offices nearby, and picked the least offensive option. There's a 'Pirates of Silicon Valley'/'The Social Network' movie inevitably in the future, about how Gen 1 VR played out. Real human drama shit.

Only because Sony has spent the most advertising their stuff and makreting towards their large console fanbase. I am almost certain Sony is hemorrhaging money from this venture.

I won't buy VR until I get sandbox anime fantasy game I can just run around in with a waifu.

How much longer?

Not just PC VR. VR is already finished because it is a meme gimmick fad that is already over.

VR is growing steadily and has applications beyond games (military, business, architecture, training and more) you are retarded kiddo

Cringe you guys are latching onto this idea, very desperate!

you're filtered asshole. whatever bullshit you're spouting, no one cares, the thread is about VR. Talk about VR or fuck off.

>kiddo
you realize the second you use that word or any of its derivatives, you identify yourself as not being from here and EVERY oldfag filter you? Just so you know...

>over 60 percent of people in the developed world wear or need glasses
>not a single manufacturer thought about making their headsets compatible with people who wear glasses
>people end up scratching their glasses or vr lenses and hurting their faces while using vr and glasses
This and the price is the only thing keeping me from supporting vr.

>VR is already finished because it is a meme gimmick
You're either totally nuts or pissed that you don't have the shekels for it, since you are spending your shekels on the wrong fucking things. When you use it right, it is fucking AMAZING and you come out after an hour feeling like you've been in another dimension. It will never, ever go away.
Let's say you like...IDK, say you aren't a really autistic history fag, and like the documentaries from Bettany Hughes from when she was young and before she became a whale. Do you not think there are hundreds of thousands of people who would pay for that experience?
They have a REALLY COOL thing in Malta where they show you the Island's history, you wear VR, and at fidfferent points in the presentation they spray a light mist on the audience, they have the chairs programmed to sort of gently shake as they tell the story of ithe island's geologicaly history. ad NOW, we hae fucking SMELLS that could be worked into it.
So fucking imagine a chair that shakes, a fucking thing connected to your main Pc that can mist you and give off SMELLS depending on what part of the mission you're in, and you are going to tell me there won't be a market for that? Nigger, please...

Attached: smells-for-VR.png (2874x1414, 1.2M)

PC VR will never take off.
>need a $1000+ to even run the games
>need another $600+ minimum for a headset
>market is flooded with shitty early access garbage by indie devs, hard to optimize games
>tons of technical and troubleshooting issues, doesn't work out of the box

VR needs to be on a closed environment, standardized platform (like a console) with 1st party support to take off. PSVR developers can actually optimize their games further because they know exactly what hardware setup they'll be working with exclusively (a PS4 console and a standardized PSVR headset). They can fine tune their game around the PS4 and PSVR's specific technology and controls, they don't have to deal with making their game playable on the 6+ different PC VR headsets on the market, all with varying controls and hardware specifications.

A VR platform also needs 1st party support. Sony has put mid-tier developers to work on VR exclusives to up the marketspace of the platform. Even if some of their games don't sell that well, the 1st party support automatically makes it a more attractive platform for 3rd parties because Sony's 1st party support entails a larger userbase.

shinobi project 'waifu game' has some actually pretty impressive features including pulling her along by the hand. I just tried looking and can't find the link again, but someone will probably post the webm.

>This and the price
And these retards can't put in fucking contacts? ~ 12 years ago EVERYONE used to put in contacts save for right before bed, since it was seen as a weakness. Now the gang of Jews at vice have manged to turn it into a fashion statement. If you have bad eyesight, maybe you need to be weeded out of the gene pool any way.
But fuckig take a look a tthe article above, and imagine a relatively cheap device hooked up to your PC that can, while you are in VR:
-lightly mist you
-provide different smells matching your environment
- a different tool, but a chair that costs a few hundred dollars and can rock, go forward a bit, raise flightly, change angles, all coordinated with your RV experience.
I've fucking bought stocks in 2 BR compnaies, and I'm far from only one. Sad to say, the chinks or Koreans will probably beat us to it thanks to the isane racial, gender, and the rest of the laws here. Ehile her ein ZOG people are arguing about XIR and XE, the chiks are zooming right along. They'll fucking be arguing over "their pronouns" while they are in the missile shelter waiting for the chink nuke to hit...

You only look like a retard using the motion controllers, playing HOTAS flight sims makes you look like a fighter pilot.

The rule is "If the customer thinks they look dumb using it, they won't use it."

Which is why VR breaks that rule: You need someone else to record you to make you look dumb, and no one using VR seriously has normie friends to ridicule them for how dumb they look in VR.

>PC VR will never take off.
>>need a $1000+ to even run the games

You're thinking like a fucking boomer. With inflation factored in, a $1000 computer is really no more than the PS 1 or 2 was when it first came out
>need another $600+ minimum for a headset

I cane assure you, they had data scientists check the market to see what it could handle. Again, think about inflation. Do you know how much "duckhunt" and the first "nintendo gun" cost when they came out?" Hoe about "Starflight?" when you consider inflation, it's pretty fuckig amazing that EVERY game isn't over $100 now, eso with all the fucking diversity, gender equality, and the rest of the horseshit they are forced to deal with. Thus why the best studios are in Asia and Eastern europe, where they don't have such shit.

I've been a fucking believer in VR since day 1. Eso now that Samsung has one that can hook right into your phone. As much as i love US civil war history, I would have killed with my bear hands to have a not only a samsung phone, but a fucking VR Set at my disposal in that miserable old car while everyone stayed quiet and read. I was stick with an old CD player and shitty, American Airline headphones I Stole when I was 6.
As the US turns into more and more of a fucking dystopian nightmare, you can bet your ass more and more Whites will be reaching for opiates, VR, or both. It takes you away from your present nightmare.
And for NYC area commuters who ride private busses and don't need to worry about niggers robbing them, that is how they'll be watching their movies and Tv shows on the way home, men and women, old and young....

this just shows you know nothing..
Vive has plenty of space inside of headset and is go-to hmd for people with glasses
Rift S reportedly is the same
And there's custom lenses you can order

>but muh screen on face meme

Attached: woah.png (990x1143, 942K)

>You need someone else to record you to make you look dumb, and no one using VR seriously has normie friends to ridicule them for how dumb they look in VR.
I don't even think the "if you look dumb" will apply here. Ever commuted from NYC to comnnecicut for almost 2 hours with a secretary wh o has just chaned out of her heels, gotten on for an amost 2 hour bus ride, and wants to watch wharever lemming TV show she watches?
She's on a private bus with other Whites so so fear of niggers jacking her purse or phone. She's tired and miserable from slavingf or a kike all day. If you really think such a woman cares how she looks on the bus with a 3D headset on, you haven't met enough people making that commute....

Not yet but oculus won't be the future for it

I'm looking forward to it, having tried out a Quest I think that it's exactly what the VR world needs: a cheap, accessible headset that is "good enough" to handle a lot of what you can throw at it. I appreciate that enthusiasts want the newest and best all the time, but VR just isn't sustainable if you don't make it available and affordable to most of the population. The quest is, to me, a market necessity. There needs to be something like it, a cheap, all-in-one solution with actual game capacity (sorry Go) and that can leave the room you set it up in and not require a total teardown/setup process. Rift was okay in that regard, but quest is far better, and I think it will be the one that really sells VR. Enthusiast hardware will always have a place, but if we only ever focus on enthusiasts then we'll just keep on getting super-expensive headsets that require top of the line graphics cards, and it will be 2016 VR memes all over again.

Robo Recall sequel fucking when? Still my favorite game in VR outside of sim stuff.

this is what you look like when you play on your vr

Attached: 1509840558636.webm (400x224, 2.58M)

Very, very soon-- at least in places where the commute is safe and esp on planes-- people will be using 3D headsets to watch their TV trash they watch. On the fuckign Samsung VR, it has a menu where, with the reote, you can cycle through the TV shows and movies in your library. And you feel fucking TOTALLY in a cocoon and fuck the outside world.
If you think people will care, look at the videos of fucking fights just in the UK on fights on carriers like Ryan Air, where some kike stuffs the lennings in tighter than animals on the way to slaughter, and eventually some can't take it and explode and start punching.
If you are somewhat normal (not in the sense of "normie") and have to...go to a feneral and get stuck on a sflight with pakis and chav savages, I'd be putting on that fucking samsung VR faster than you can count to 3, regardless of how I look to others. They're all vermin anyway.

>tried out a Quest
My Rift still works perfecttly, the fucking probem with the Vive is that they put all the imprtant wiring up in the front with NO fucking protection. and yes, I bought a $150 shekel case for it, and am very careful with it, but they really fucked it up as far as durability. Until hey fix that, despite how good the picture might be, I'd tel others to fucking avoid it.

lay of the blow buddy

They're already doing that in VR, teleporting is ancient history at this point, just kept in for the sickies as a legacy inclusion, or for PSVR since that retarded move controller doesn't even have a joystick or d-pad on it.

You guys sound like you haven't played a VR game much at all, or at least not in the last 1-2 years. Especially that "vive wagglan" comment, which if it means the same as wii wagglan, was never true, beyond some past game's shitty melee weapon implementations.

Did you reply to the wrong poster or something? I don't see how what you posted has anything to do with what I posted.

OVER 300 VR MISSIONS

Attached: mgs2 raiden.png (1181x789, 433K)

I mentioned vive wagglers to specify which motion controllers I was using. There's a lot of problems with them - they don't really feel right in any game which uses them to represent guns or swords, the grip buttons are really awkward and the trackpad just doesn't feel as good for movement as a thumbstick.

>teleporting is ancient history at this point
yet i am still stuck with this piece of shit

Valve are lazy NIGGERS
It ends this year at least

Attached: Boneworks release.png (640x478, 89K)

Oh well then yeah, I totally feel that. I had a Vive, got it December 2016 and sold it six months later. Total shit controllers, don't know what they were thinking. I bought a rift late last year and have loved using the far-superior controllers. Won't touch a valve HMD or related product again until they fix their shit, knuckles seem like a step in the right direction, I'm just still very hesitant because FUCKING TOUCHPADS are bullshit.

When's vorpX going to patch in support for AC7?

knuckles has sticks

Attached: valve-knuckles-dv-1.jpg (1902x1070, 283K)

>partially concede that trackpads are a meme by adding a stick
>padlet still goes in the middle
Fucking Valve

Can you reach those with human thumbs? The placement looks kind of awkward.

I think that the padlet makes a lot of sense.
It can take the function of a few extra buttons, and also let you do gesture shit that actually makes some sense in VR.
For example, when using guns you could use it as a fire selector by sweeping up and down, would be way more intuitive and functional than having to cycle through with button presses.

>VR just isn't sustainable if you don't make it available and affordable to most of the population. The quest is, to me, a market necessity.
This has always been the console apologist meme and it's always been bullshit. There is no reason for platforms to be closed, and they ultimately benefit no one but the owner. The Quest absolutely could support connection to PC over its USB3.0 port or an added VirtualLink port, at the same or similar price point (and such a PC/standalone hybrid is the inevitable future of VR). But Facebook explicitly does not want their customers to have any software purchasing options but their own store. That's what it's all always been about, for them.

>"good enough" to handle a lot of what you can throw at it
Quest is going to be a big disappointment for many people who are falling for this hype. Inside-out CV tracking is not a real solution, the Quest on-board compute is not powerful enough for anything but very simple, low-spec games.

Is a $400 all-in-one more accessible than a $400-600 HMD plus a $1200-2000 gaming PC? Of course. But you get what you fucking pay for, and worse - supporting these shitbag anticompetitive companies retreat to their closed platforms is what directly helps prevent the open platforms prices from ever dropping. If Facebook had no choice but to stay in PC-VR they'd continue working on ways to expand access there (eg. reducing GPU demand in software).

But, again, that's not really what it's about, for them.

Attached: thirtythree.png (1216x647, 300K)

i hated it at first, but i think it might work because it is compact, clickable, and you can do the usual binding, so i see it as just 3 fancy buttons, and trackpads are better for UI stuff

not sure if this was their mentality though

looks fucking weird, i am afraid that i will have to bend my thumb too outwards, not sure though, looks fine on videos

I just mean it would have been nice to have the stick there right next to the buttons
But instead the pad serves as a flyover state for my thumb

the sticks are essentially in the same position as on the Oculus Touch. It looks weird but it's just fine.
