Most people don't give a shit about gay fish. I truly do wonder why Pillars 2 flopped so hard. It seems like the type of game Reddit would eat up. They loved the first one and love OS2. Maybe superbunnyhop was right in saying the game doesn't cater to any specific crowd enough to make an impact anywhere. I still find it odd though.
more like pillars of feminity II: basedfire
I think the main reason is that OS2 is extremely fun to play. The same can't be said for pillars
Funnily enough, gay fish and gay furry are the best companions in that game. Didn't take them initially (because of shit like in OP), but decided to give game another go and Tekehus conflict with his duty, lineage and culture is actually really enjoyable.
It's because the game isn't fun. It ticks all the right boxes: the writing, the style of game, the atmosphere, in theory it should all come together to make a good RPG. But actually playing it is boring at best and annoying at worst. If it's not fun, what's the point?
Both Divinity and PoE were btfo by Pathfinder Kingmaker, which proven a game of Baldurs Gate quality still can be made in modern age.
PoE was shit all around and Divinity was shit rpg, with only redeeming quality being combat system. Thankfully, we were shown RPGs still can be goood.
>Both Divinity and PoE were btfo by Pathfinder Kingmaker,
POE sure, but DIVOS2? No.
>Both Divinity and PoE were btfo by Pathfinder Kingmaker
I just looked at the reviews and sales for all 3 games and that's objectively false. Are you actually using your own personal taste for what "btfo"''d what now?
>caring about sale numbers
OS2 is successful game, no question. Its just shit rpg game.
>they loved the first one
No. Everyone bought the first one, but very few people loved it. It was going to be the resurgence of baldur's gate isometric type games. But it turned out to be mostly shit, which is why no one bought tyranny or the sequel
You have absolutely no say in anything if you are not an rpg fan and did not play either games. Go back to playing Smash on switch.
The best recent rpg was ATOM RPG, and it probably got 3/10 reviews and 1000 players.
Actually 3000 and I plan on buying it on sale.
I would rather have had Tyranny 2 then POE2 but it got BTFO'd even harder.
Mostly because i think Tyranny had a kinda neat concept even with its flaws.
so yes, you are using your own personal taste for what btfo's up something else, meaning I can put your opinion directly in the trash
Tyranny's tumblr cover art was awful
OS2 is the best RPG released in years faggot
Definitely, i think the in-game portraits are okay enough though.
I didn't even realize the Archons were on the cover for way too long because i was so distracted by how ugly it was.
Console faggots need not to apply. OS2 is not an RPG
People on Reddit still now speak very fondly of pillars 1. My comment wasn't speculation.
>OS2
>Console faggotry
>It isn't an RPG
You have brain problems
just stay on reddit and stop coming here you stupid faggot
How is this game? its like $8 on GoG.
who is this gay fish?
I go where I want. Can't imagine the level of faggot that actually thinks any of these websites are better than the other. It's all shit.
Don't you have to preorder the new Switch? What are you doing here in a thread about genre you obviously arent qualified to make judgment?
>RWTP vs CHAD real turn based
Jeez I wonder why one is dead!
Maybe because it has shit gameplay?
A couple people on reddit being fond of the game is not a trend. The vast majority of people thought it was boring and uninspired. And unlike the DnD isometric games it didn't have decades of established lore and fun games to lean on.
Who is the majority here? The game did very well by every objective measure.
>I'm a blatant reddit faggot and don't care who knows
just fucking leave holy shit
I kickstarted the first game and was disappointed by it. Game still had a lot of patches to go even after release so I didn't bother with the second game.
Pillars 2 didn’t do as well because Pillars 1 only did well due to timing. Pillars 1 just made zoomers realize they don’t care for crpgs so they didn’t buy the 2nd.
Fucking hate how you cant be truly evil in tyranny. You can only be as a good guy or an asshole.
>Liking a PC RPG makes me a consolefag
Oh, you are trolling.
Os2 sucks, story is stupid, every character act smug/cuntish for no reason, builds are very shallow “build damage” and you can kill anything with a really heavy box.
I think it's the setting that killed PoE2.
Seriously, fuck pirates and fuck boats.
Tyranny is a neat concept but it's gameplay is awful
Yet the combat is some of the best the genre has to offer and the maps are very well designed. You are a brainlet for thinking "Hurr durr I don't like the writing" = Console.
But Pillars 2 now has a pretty good turn-based mode.
Pilliars 1 sold because it had all the makings of a good game but turned out to be incredibly boring. Most people didnt fall for the mistake again.
the fact that they are made by lazy gay fishes is the problem with obsidian
for like 30 years those faggots barely ever managed to release finished product
>alt-right won
The combat isn’t good though it’s brainless shit.
Builds weren't shallow. I don't like the divinity series at all and the writing was bad enough to make me stop playing OS2 but the battle map design and the builds were the only redeeming qualities.
>Builds weren’t shallow
Put all points in main attack stat and skill until max, then put points in crit chance. Not very deep.
To be fair the game doesn't force you to minmax like that.
more like: put all points in attack then a couple points in necromancy which gives you life steal based on damage, then put a point in another skill that does more damage the lower your health is, so you can intentionally take damage until you're low health for one mega-move that 1 shots people and gives you full health.
That's an example of my maincharacters build that I found, but there's tons of creative combinations you can find. I'm not defending OS2 as a game at all but if you can't give credit where its due then your opinion can't be taken seriously.
>Now
There you go!
Also Baldur gaymeme is worse than Fo1-2 and Archadnum from both gameplay and story perspective.
>Put all points in attack stat
>Then I take lifesteal as a secondary stat instead of crit chance!
Truly the embodiment of build diversity.
>it's brainless
No it's not. Lol, you are a faggot. I bet you played it on easy mode.
I'm going to describe to you my build in OS2 and I challenge you to come up with a more in depth build from another crpg. I don't even like OS2 but your criticism is blind;
I have 1 skill that attaches to an enemy and gives them 50% of all damage I take (it doesn't reduce the damage I take) I have a taunt skill, I have a skill that does damage based on how low my health is, and I have passive life steal. I go into a battle and I use the damage transfer skill on the strongest character, I then taunt everyone else and take damage until I'm low health (which damages the boss because of damage transfer) and then I use the skill that does more damage based on how low my health is, which will do mega damage and give me full health from my life style. None of this was a pre-made build and I found it because you can put skills anywhere you want and are not tied to a class.
I've played dozens of classic crpgs and I've never found one that you could make custom in-depth builds like this, I challenge you to name me a game and a more indepth build you can make
That’s literally just necromancy+warfare. I bet you dipped into polymorph for flight too like a real rebel.
amazing how cringy and deluded OS2 console faggots can be
it's necromancy+warfare with every single level designed to work around those abilities instead of the countless other ways you could allocate points between the two. It's just an example of the combo's you can find compared to other crpg's where you choose a class and there's no build variety outside of that. Again, name a crpg with more indepth builds
I don't even like OS2 you stupid faggot, I'm showing that "shallow build depth" is a bad criticism since it's the only redeeming quality. Name a crpg with more build depth
Any proper tabletop based CRGP. Please stop making joke of yourself if you never played an rpg and Divitinity is your first one
Autism
Name a crpg with more build depth, I'm actually waiting
At some point I was like IT'S FINALLY OVER on the ship.
Then I realize I arrive at a huge fucking island and I uninstalled.
Baldurs'Gate, Pathfinder Kingmaker, Pillars of Elementary Evil, Pool of Radiance 2: Ruins of Mithdrannor, Might and Magic, Wizardy 8 etc etc
Writing took a huge nosedive in PoE2. And it seems to me they saw Larian's success and tried emulating it, focusing less on their writing. PoE definitely wasn't a milestone in that respect either, but it was decent at setting a mood.
>every single one is "choose your class at the start then level up along your class tree"
objectively less depth
Thanks for confirming you never played a real RPG in your life.
I've been playing crpgs since the original baldurs gate, and I think divinity OS and OS2 are probably the worse I've ever played. We're talking about 1 very specific criticism, build depth, and you're proving your an autist who can't criticize anything properly and thinks I don't like game = everything about the game bad.
>other crpg's where you choose a class and there's no build variety outside of that
Different user here, but have you never played a crpg with multiclassing?
I have, and there's less depth compared to one with no classing at all and just free points to put in whichever skills you like.
>multi-classing
>Feats
>Sub classes/specializations
>Generally limited options can be selected per level within the class
>Lack of respec means different builds peak at different times
But yeah it’s not deep because the game doesn’t explicitly tell you you can low-life tank.
There is no "build depth". Divinity does not have a proper RPG system at all. Instead it has an ARPG system like Diablo, where the "build depth" and "abilities" you pick are just pretty much equivalent of spells you can pick out of hundreds in other CRPGs, LIMITING your build instead of giving you freedom.
Its not FREEDOM if you shoehorn your build with selection of level up abilities and LIMIT your options. Let alone, in normal, specially tabletop based rpg you can spend HOURS just on character generation, let alone the depth of party management in games like MnM or Wizardy.
DnD and like based games offer IMMENSE more combat, combination and party options than streamlined and casualized shit like Divinity. The Pathfinder Kingmaker alone completely btfo's it in its options.
because it had to go up against this bad boy
Lol, you never even played the game, it's so fucking obvious. You don't pick abilities you retard.
Having the most possible options is LITERALLY the DEFININTION of depth. You don't have to talk up other games to me or tell me OS2 because I DON'T LIKE DIVINITY. This argument is because some one said divinity has "no build depth" which is objectively false and now you're trying to shoehorn other arguments into it
>D-Divinity isn't as deep as a pen and paper RPG so it's casual!
Hurr durr Hurr durr
Still more concurrent players than anything put out by Quantic Dream.
hey look everyone obsidian pasta poster is back!
Except you DONT have the most possible option. You have no argument. How is having 100 spells more than 300 in Kingmaker?
because in Kingmaker 1 character doesn't have access into all 300 spells. In Divinity you have access to the whole pool and can build a custom class within those. The argument doesn't even need to prove that divinity has ~the most~ build depth either it's only against retards saying it has no build depth
People who think Putin is a strong leader are fucking retarded. Russia's economy is in shambles and their infrastructure is a massive joke and instead of spending money on fixing up Russia's infrastructure to help their economy recover Putin and his Oligarch pals would rather spend it on shitty military pet projects or that processor that's a massive joke compared to what China and the west has going for it. People who consider themselves Russian patriots and praise Putin are fucking shams, a real patriot wants to improve their country, not have a bunch of leaders piss money on shit that they think makes them look big and strong to the outside world.
Pillars 2 felt absolutely nothing like Pillars 1. Atmosphere. Setting. I hated the first game initially and then ended up loving it.
Even the very same characters that returned had changed personalities. Pacing sucked. Systems that were almost entirely pointless.
Why did Obsidiots kick out fenstermaker?
But those are classes in os2. Warfare+necro is no different than fighter/rouge other than the freedom to pick whatever skills you want to use.
user are you okay? You know you can buy skill books to get skills, and with the memory stat, you have slots that allow you to pick and choose what skills you want at any time right?
Divinity OS 2 has 250 spells you faggot and they are more varied.
Number of options isn’t the same as depth, in the end divinity has very little actual depth because the entire game is a dps race especially on harder difficulties where you can’t fuck around as much.
>Doesn't have a proper RPG system
>has stats and levels just like any other RPG
>B-But you also buy skills so somehow that changes things
Lol, retard
>Number of options isn’t the same as depth
okay I'm out. You can have the last word, later retard-kun
The core market for crpgs is just not that big. The sales numbers would have been seen as a big hit in their former heyday.
>Divinity original sin 2
>94% liked
>Kingmaker
>69% liked
Lol
You are a retard. As another user said you have 250 spells and you have more options since any character can choose from any of them.
Again, you obviously never played an actual CRPG. Is OS2 your first one?
You have access to the stuff you need and want, you can double and tripple class, you can have a whole party of custom characters to begin with. Divinity does not offer absolutely nothing better that did not exist since Nox times.
Shallow casualized game is shallow. Grim Dawn is not suddenly a best existing RPG because you can build trillion useless builds. Try playing Wizardy or M&M to see what REAL meaningful variety and trillion playthroughs looks like.
First checked. Second I never said "not a proper rpg" that's the other guys, and lastly, the post I replied to said that you don't pick skills, and that is 100% false to anyone who play a minute of the game.
only 3 per skill are actually useful
It’s not, it’s like saying Botw has hundreds of weapons so it’s combat must be deep. Technically true that is has lots of weapons but they all do the same thing in practice
Did hear that on CNN?
Lol, no
How can people say DOS 2 has a good character building system? Sure you can do damage... but that's it. So many things are at odds with the player because of the awful armor system and the dumbed down AP system. At least in DOS your characters felt like they were building to something, in DOS2 you either put points in your main magic school or warfare. When all 3 of your defensive options are meaningless because zerging the enemy is the best choice 100% of the time and more than half of all builds just pump warfare, you've made a really bad system
>You can do damage
>Or create smoke as cover
>Or turn invisible
>Or use abilities in non combat situations
>Or take control of enemy characters
>Or give yourself mobile abilities that allow you to use the map better
>or put lava in front of you to prevent an enemy from advancing
>or teleport an enemy into lava to kill them
>or use elements to together to make yourself immune to specific effects
Just admit divinity was too hard for your low IQ nigger brain.
So, like every other CRPG but streamlined down to few options to use for console faggots?
divinity was pretty fun though
>Link myself to an enemy
>Make it so I can't die for a few turns
>Spend rest of AP to run up and hug the enemy
>Summon a blob of flesh
>Also have it hug the both of us
>Have it explode
>Deals massive damage to the enemy
>Deals massive damage to me
>Which is then reflected to the enemy
>Like every RPG
Really? Every RPG let's me create smoke by combining water and fire in order to make cover to protect me from ranged attacks?
Also how is it streamlined you double digit IQ monkey?
>my brain is incapable of reading tyranny correctly on the first try and instead always see tranny
You did this to me with your shitposting,Yea Forums.
Take responsibility.
>Enemy makes it so when it takes damage I can take damage
>Make it so when I take damage he takes damage
>Be tanky fuck
>Start running around in lava
They should have made Tranny 2, at least that one had some cool things you could do
im still in the source temple in dos 1 , but already got dos 2 ready to install, hope its gun be gud too
Go back to writing your shitty futa fanfiction that nobody wants to read, OP.
It's because kingmaker was heavily bugged on release.
VTMB had this problem too, troika went bankrupt, but game is cult classic now and even got a sequel.
>sales
Call of duty and fifa are best games ever then.
hmm.
evrytime they used taht native language (like agracima) i felt like someone was skinning my brain.
but in general i dont support californian companies bcs of the multiracial agenda.
>Recent reviews
>69% liked this game
Kek
Theres couple that allow element combinations, but most allow you to just fucking make a cloud to begin with.
In Kingmaker i can invis myself, sneak to enemy, cast aoe snare, summon monsters to attack snared enemies, polimorph myself and cast a snare immunity so i could move in it, cast element immunity and procide to cast aoe cloud kill while sneak attacking enemies in my dragon form while reflecting incomming damage, having mirror images of myself and singing a bard song while makign corpses of the killed enemies rise up and join me.
>you can pick out of hundreds in other CRPGs
Ah yes, the hundreds of spells you'll never use because they're trash and outclassed in every way by another spells of the same level
Yeah but they both suffer from obnoxious amateur writing.
Who the fuck decided to *type everything like this and make snarky remarks* is a blithering idiot. DOS1 had a problem with an amateur writer trying to hard to make everything funny, but at least it was a semblance of writing, DOS2 is just a weird decision that's neither saving time or helps role-playing.
>but most allow you to just fucking make a cloud to begin with.
See, less depth.
You can do the exact same shit in divinity. Now I know you didn't play it retard.
once again, you expose yourself as person who never played a real rpg
because only shallow game like OS is filled with useless spells solely designed to make damage, as its the only thing game is about. In actual rpgs, most of the spells are unique and used since they all provide speicific unique effects. There pretty much is no "useless" spells, since most of them do not simply "do x damage" but do very specific things useful in specific situations/builds and combinations.
Yeah, nice reviews such as
>Necesitan una traduccion al español
I noticed long ago that people prefer polished shit rather than rough gems.
>because only shallow game like OS is filled with useless spells
Explain any dnd/pathfinder based game
>See, less depth.
Yeah. Its not like whole OS element combination thing is just class gimmic of 1 of dozens classes and specializations in proper rpg systems, and alone there are alone dozens types of clouds and effects to chose from.
Or casuals
>Almost no healtpots drop, and healing is crap for the first levels...you keep being dragged into fights with the whole team at 1-5 hp and strenght damage. SERIOUSLY THE BALANCE AT THE BEGINNING!!!!! Could the clerics get a few new heals AFTER EACH FIGHT ????? Could be be able to COOK in the dungeons so we can rest ?????
Or shilling obsidiots
>Honestly, it's not terrible. But it's not good. Just buy Pillars of Eternity instead.
>I-It's because it's buggy
>I-I mean it's because some of them speak spanish
>a real rpg
Oh yes, no imaginary games allowed!
>n-no it's because they're casual and obsidiots
>having a single ability to do something is more depth than using a combination of abilities to get different results
Retard. Also nice job replying to the rest. You are a fucking idiot. Goodnight.
Who are you quoting?
...
Keep playing casual and console shit. its obviously the heights of the level you can achieve. Just stay out of RPG threads.
Keep thinking your prebuff and autoattack game have depth
>y-you're wrong i totally bother with all those those useless worse options
>because only shallow game like OS is filled with useless spells solely designed to make damage
the entire gimick of OS is environmental spells. You can create fog to block sight, water to douse flame, oil to enhance flame, lightening to electrocute water. The entire gimmick of the game is environmental combinations how the hell can you say "every spell is just do more damage"
t. one of thousands who did not pass the spiders in a cave in chapter 1 of Kingmaker
>Defends Kingmaker
>Calls OS2 casual
There are reviews related to bugs too in march
>Read up on how many bugs there are before you buy. I can't progress at all after putting 10 hours in.
>implying obsidian bias is not real
People still treat them like someone special while studio is basically bioware level now
>Poor gamedesign, poor optimization, and nice graphics and design = Pathfinder Kingmaker
>All people who compare "this" creature to masterpiece like Baldurs gate, nwn 1-2, and pillars of eternity = you really need a doctor
>Broken balance, broken game, true hardcore for people who like (or love) to hurt self
Typical mashohistic type of rpg - we buff mobs to the and not give small options how to exp, choose class and more
I thought you had finally suicided yourself, so fucking piece of human waste OP
Fuckign autistic subhuman trash

>Kiddinity-Kun is still at it again
LMAO
The problem is that the setting is fucking shit. PoE1 was boring for the exact same reason, but it keeps your attention enough to finish it because it loosely emulates better games. PoE2 is a complete miss because nobody asked for pirates, fishmen are a trash race concept, their culture is boring and uninspired as is the niggers larping as italians. Nothing in the setting makes sense, is fun or “clicks”. It feels bland and forced. Also 90% of companions are fucking boring
REMINDER
OP is a well know daggot. He latched on Deadfire after getting ridiculed for shitting oN Witcher for 2 years.
If you see OP, remind him that he's a useless faggot and he should kill himself ASAP.
If it was a bird or lizard person I would have bought it already. Fish people suck balls, but they ain't sucking mine.
>games i dont like have no depth
>mechanics in games i dont like are just gimmicks

ask me how i know you're american
Pls link your fanfiction.net account
OP is always a faggot, but you are more evident one for defending such a crap game as PoE2
Shhh, faggot nigger. Nobody care about your shitty opinions. Go back to rebbit you mentally deficient trash nigger
haha wow user you sound so cool and hilarious, do you maybe want to meet up after school?
OS2 is litterally Fortnite tier rpg loved by US niggers because of how casual it is.
Fucktard OP, why do you suck so much nigger cock?
Do you enjoy the taste ? Do they remind your dad nigger cock before he slapped your fat whale mom and fled away from your retarded faggot tard nigger ass?
Was I trying to be funny? I would seriously fuck a bird or lizard.
>Or create smoke as cover
>Or turn invisible
So smoke as cover and invisibility are there because actual defensive options are awful due to the awful armor system
>Or use abilities in non combat situations
Almost every western RPG lets you use abilities out of combat for a variety of things, that's not special. Its also not part of the combat sucks argument here
>Or take control of enemy characters
You charm them and the ai controls them, to do damage
>Or give yourself mobile abilities that allow you to use the map better
This is because the AP system is terrible and lorian knew this at some point in development. To make up for the fact that in combat movement is bad unless you pump scoundrel and the pawn, which means you can't pump warfare and is therefore bad, they gave the player multiple teleports that are all the same shit. At least in the beta phoenix dive gave fire immunity
>or put lava in front of you to prevent an enemy from advancing
>or teleport an enemy into lava to kill them
"Do damage"
>or use elements to together to make yourself immune to specific effects
This was fun in the first game. Because of the mentioned awful armor system elements are now always at odds with each other and having mixed mages in a party is bad. Also schools no longer teach diverse elementals to summon and its all lumped in your incarnate. All other summons are pretty much filler
Even the changes (like torturer) to the definitive edition were not enough to make up for these glaring issues. At least magic is viable now and its not 4 characters all pumping warfare every time. Just admit you play on easy because your little master race brain cannot think critically, gets easily amused by flashy lights and cannot handle real depth
I played a prob of the first pillars game. But it seriously got too boring for me to continue. And the plot wasnt that engaging.
Its just not very fun.
oh there he is
Yes it's me OP. I suck fat nigger cocks.
>the game doesn't cater to any specific crowd enough to make an impact anywhere
that's what happens when you want to cater to everybody. some devs don't understand you have to pick your fucking audience. you're makingg a baldurlike rpg? don't puch fucking gay romance and "muh pronouns", mmodern politic/enviromental/social issues, because 99% of your potential fanbase doesn't care about that. they want to play wizards and warriors and go on an adventure, not explore anuses.
except for path of exile, i suppose.
What is with Yea Forumss recent hateboner for Obsidian?
A lie, theres no fat nigger cocks in Obsidian dev team. Just fat female landwhales and white trannies.
>he gets THIS upset about fortnite tier games
that means you're 14 faggot, not only that but if i had to argue against fortnite it would be easy as hell, whereas you arguing against OS2 still hasn't worked and there was more than 1 person wondering what the fuck you're talking about
It barley had any new content expect the story. It was literally poe1 just polished with a new story.
They did not make a good game since NV? Also, conflict with Avelone and studio being completely sjw and tranny infested now.
No, I don't watch CNN. Fuck CNN.
>he doesnt know
for the past 2 years atleast, BLIND outrage has become fine because the 15-18 year old redditors just think Yea Forums is where you go to be epic and hate on stuff with MEMES :D
I go out of my way for the blackest juiciest cock i can find. The i come to Yea Forums to make shitty thread like this one to assuage my autistic need for attention and find my next black cock that i will pleasure until i'm sticky whit negro seed.
Yes, I OP is a total faggot.
unable to perform critical thinking on your own?
>i had to argue against fortnite it would be easy as hell
Not really, Fortnite is actually a good game at what it tries to be. OS2 is just "rpg" packaged for niggers who never played one.
It's mostly that one really autistic shitposter, think Xv-kun/Michael-tier
Me, OP, the gigantic faggot subhuman, keep making these thread because i'm such a massive faggot nigger.
I'm easy to recognise because i use the same fucking image everytime and my lust for nigger cock can't be satiated. If you see one of my shitposting thread please doN,t report them because i autistically think people care about my love for niggercock and my autistic hateboner for RPG
I haven't been involved in the discussion at all and I just want to point out you got btfo by everyone you were arguing with
>Not really, Fortnite is actually a good game at what it tries to be.
>third person camera, randomized loot and a barebones build system
>no other mechanics
not to mention "what it tried to be" is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the battle royal that everyone is playing now
remember fortnite is an actual game and not just battle royal, you underage cunt
So i take it as Yes.
Pathfinder is the real successor to BG2 in the sense that it's for people who primarily want D&D in computer game form, and don't really care about a good story or about having fun.
Fortine tries to be the most casual and kids appealing game and its succeeds. Regardless of game mechanics (which is a reason why i don't play it), its extremely well done and superbly maintained and updated - which is a reason why the game that does nothing so special, keeps growing instead of being pushed out by competition.
I wish my favorite games had that care from devs and rate of interesting updates.
>>discussion about video game mechanics
>Regardless of game mechanics (which is a reason why i don't play it), its extremely well done
>hey did not make a good game since NV
Stick of Truth, PoE, PoE 2. Regardless they have put Tim Cain back in the director chair so that is promising
>conflict with Avelone
He said She said bullshit. Avelone is a great writer, but I don't believe Fergus is burning the company to the ground just cause some disgruntled ex employee said so, dude has been their since black isle, so why is it only a problem now?
>studio being completely sjw and tranny infested now.
Ah yes, noted Transgendered SJWs, Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky, Chris Jones, Josh Sawyer, and Chris Parker.
Except pathfinder story is thousand times better than PoE/Tiranny one and is direct adaptation of existing PnP module, including most of quests - exactly what RPG people actually wanted, instead of "creative writing" and "imaginative creative worlds" or wanna be "creators" of OS or PoE. Your argument about "fun" makes even less sense - the game holding for hundreds of hours is amazingly fun, or one woudnt play it.
Now with its success, more Pathfinder pen and paper modules will be adapted into CRPGs and thats million times better than "original" concepts amateur devs hiring tranny writers could do.
>Josh "I literally scream at people about lgbt issueé Sawyer
>not sjw
yeah, but I have been seeing it in Outerworlds threads as well.
I dont play "insert specific genre". Does it mean its game mechanics are bad?
I dont like 3rd person shooters with hitscan guns and preffer fast paced arena deathmatch or team objective based fps. Does not mean Fortnite is shit. (CoD and BF are objectively cancer and shit though)
yeah, NV was SJW as fuck bro. Uggh and Don't even get me started on Icewind Dale. Fucking pozzed af my dude.
Did addition of turn-based combat actually change anyone's mind about PoE2, though?
>NV
>No decent hetero romances with the only attractive women in the game
>Not an SJW game
but fortnite actually is shit, so i dont know what your point is or why you're making it
blobbers simply aren't appealing to modern rpg audiences, though. their idea of "RPG" is basically baldur's gate wannabes.
Today, I will remind them. All of these are made by the same OP

>PoE, PoE 2.
No. Just no. PoE2 is just trash, and PoE while filling a niche for starving rpg fans had shitty writing and plain uninteresting setting and as latest with release of D:OS and Kingmaker later was completely exposed as kickstarter scam as actual amount of content it offers is miniscule in comparison to actual games.
While there was no better game, one could argue PoE1 was at least taking Icewind Dale niche - but latest after Kingmaker, it simply stands absolutely no comparison and reveals itself as disappointment it was (people hoped for more BG. PoE failed, Kingmaker succeeded at delivering exactly that)
But fortnite game mechanics ARE bad despite your personal preference, like user just said
Yep, it's the same autist.
No, the story is still a pile of garbage.
>PoE2
>features sailing, naval map and half-assed shop combat
>entire "age of sail" and piracy themes are just window dressing for a typical fantasy RPG
I hate that shit. Make a goddamn pirate RPG if you're supposedly dedicated to its themes.
reminder this autistic oldfag is like 50% of the reason Yea Forums still contains some video game discussion, despite his opinion on things
I can't tell if this post is meant to be satirical or not. If NV is SJW, then by god I love SJW games. Also
>tries to counter actual examples of his games with twitter posts
This is just sad.
>Most people don't give a shit about gay fish. I truly do wonder why Pillars 2 flopped so hard
Boats, Pirates and Islands are fucking boring, also they choosed Pallegina to return but left behind Durance
I don't pay attention to names/personalities in vidya. Who is this guy so I can avoid everything he ever contributes to
Lots of things can entertain a person for hours without being "amazingly fun." Directly adapting a PnP game to a computer game was flawed when Bioware did it, and it's flawed now, because the rules are made for PnP not for a RTwP video game. So it's a game that doesn't quite appeal to PnP players nor to video game players. That's why the people who really like it are fringe weirdos who enjoy savescumming.
t.op
I find it very hilarious that while he creates 99% of the Epic threads and will do Epic threads about every single piece of news about Epic, I'm yet to see a single one of The Outer Worlds.
You forgot to include his absolute shit futa fanfiction.
im actively arguing with op right now about his fortnite addiction sorry
I don't understand why you spend so much time trying to force arguments. CRPG threads were fairly civil until you dedicated thousands of hours to shitposting them to oblivion.
What went wrong?
Pillars of Eternity is quite possibly one of the most boring RPGs I've ever played in my life
>PoE while filling a niche for starving rpg fans had shitty writing and plain uninteresting setting
That's funny, that is how I would describe Kingmaker AND D:OS
>was completely exposed as kickstarter scam as actual amount of content it offers is miniscule in comparison to actual games.
Their orignal asking was fair. the main reason hugely succesful kickstarters fail is scope creep. It is not their fault people threw money at them, and trying to make more use of that money would ruin it. I don't think it is the greatest game I ever played. The main narratifve in particular is a bit weak. It is the best game in it's genre since DA:O, Divinity is complete ass IMO, and kingmaker was okay, maybe on par.
I awake from my slumber to see the sights of Obsidiots dreaming, because you'd have to be asleep to think shit like pic related is good writing
>oesn't quite appeal to PnP players nor to video game players
Please dont try to speak for "players"
It obviously does appeal and thats why peple enjoy and praise it. If you like streamlined shitty games, Sword Coast Legends might be more your alley.
People bought it because there has been a drought of RPGs and really good stories in general. I'm relieved to hear other people thought it was boring, I've tried playing it but can never make it past the first few hours. It's a slog of dull lore and old school combat. It does a few things well but not well enough to carry the game
I stand by what I said 100 percent. Lots of people say it's shit, so there goes your argument.
>you're not good enough to handle it
I'm sure I've played lots of games that you can't beat the first level, that's not the point, and you're a predictable idiot for going there but I shouldn't be surprised since you're confirming all of my assumptions about fans of the game.
>That's funny, that is how I would describe Kingmaker AND D:OS
>It is the best game in it's genre since DA:O
My condolences for you. This can't be cured.
true. Good taste this good can not be ruined. Not even by hours of shitposting from here.
Tell me why PoE2 is trash without using buzzwords. I can agree that the base game story is pretty mediocre (I was absolutely disappointed with that fucking ending), with some sidequests and expansions being better, but I have hard time calling the game trash when it offers a good setting to explore in that has varied areas and lore, multiclassing combinations up the wazoo on par with Pathfinder, generally better combat than the first Pillars, an in-depth AI customization that Pathfinder wishes it had, among other things. I guess the factions could be better but they serve a decent enough role in the whole story. The cringe inducing NPCs like the female pirate leader don't really help either but you can always fuck her up by siding with the black pirate anyways.
Thanks for confirming for being a brainlet. As said - do not speak for "players". You do not represent anyone, but the retarded minority that wants "press F to" games and spoonfeed everything.
It's just POE wasn't good enough for anyone to ask for a sequel (it bombed atrociously) but also Age of Tranny was a clusterfuck of terrible writing and terribly PRESENTED writing. Every third word hyperlinked to another paragraph full of hyperlinks jesus fucking christ by the time you read through all the footnotes you forget what you were originally reading about ahhhhhhhhhhh. The tutorial also fluffed you up to sounding like a real cool dude and then >struggle to defeat a single random NPC
>Thanks for confirming for being a brainlet
It absolutely blows my mind that DA:O is considered a good game now. It got ripped apart back near it's release and Yea Forums made fun of it all the god damn time.
>it bombed atrociously
It didn't
Why'd you reply to the dude who insulted you instead of the dude who said no?
Can't really get into it maybe too much a sape, but Cleve is a national treasure
POE autist spammer disagrees, didn't his daily dose of copy paste mention POE2 only sold like 20k copies or something
It awakes zero interest to play it from the first minute you launch it and it remains so for hours as you try to force yourself through this boring generic mess.
I believe, soon neural networks will be able to automatically compile better RPG than creative staff at Obsidian can
Your English is breaking down a little bit, do you want to take a breather and maybe come back with some arguments?
A lot of the best games get this treatment user.
>Bombed atrociously
>Still sold over a million copies
I guess os1 was a massive bomb because it also sold only a million copies.
I don't remember DA:O being ripped, it offered cinematic story and was quite hyped, introduced different playable character backgrounds before only present in Temple of the Elementary Evil, and while having meh combat system was quite well done. At date of its release it litterally had no competition.
Writing and characters were memed to death, but the game itself was fine. Now DA2 and Inquisition got indeed destroyed for good reasons.
Couple things.
1) 1.2 millions sales on steam alone for a game that was crowdfunded is hardly a flop.
2) It is not a competition, your ability to profit off a game is not impacted by another game also being profitable, they are both flops because fortnight did better I guess.
3) to be fair, DoS is probably more popular with Steam types, while I imagine most of the PoE audience was grabbing it from GoG or other DRM free sources
>Steam types
What did he mean by this?
That doesn't explain the massive dip for POE2, losing 75% of players while DIVOS2 sold 1:1 with the first game and sold even more than the first
>I imagine most of the PoE audience was grabbing it from GoG or other DRM free sources
Even as someone that loved PoE1, PoE2 is trash outside of the gameplay.
>Polynesian setting for the sake of being different
mostly speaking in terms of pillars 1:
>bad, boring clusterfuck of a combat with too many dudes to micromanage in pseudo real time
>uninteresting story that is slow to go anywhere
>none of the companion characters were really that interesting in the first 5 hours or so
that's about it. pillars 2 looked like more of the same to me. the combat wasn't fun enough to carry the story, and the story wasn't interesting enough to carry the combat.
>it awakes zero interest
How though? You have a big ass statue who had just committed mass murder to most of your followers that live in Caed Nua, and depending on your stance on gods at the end of POE1, you would have enough reasons to pursue the statue across an entirely new continent. If you didn't play the first game, then it's pretty reasonable that you wouldn't find yourself feeling too invested with the story I guess.
A lot of people shat on DA:0 for having cooldown combat that was often compared to MMOs of the time, a collect the 4 macguffins pacing, for being really easy on nightmare and having little balance.
>If you didn't play the first game, then it's pretty reasonable that you wouldn't find yourself feeling too invested with the story I guess.
motherfucker i bet barely anyone finished that game, even the people who bought it, which is already a small number
self explanatory.
What number are you looking at though? the broken Steamspy API?
The hardcore old CRPG fanbase is largely on GoG yeah, it has more of the games they play already, and they probably value DRM free more than "not having game on steam"
>bad, boring clusterfuck of a combat with too many dudes to micromanage in pseudo real time
This, RTwPfags forget that people only tolerated older RTwP games because you could auto through most of it.
Here, a better RPG than Obsidian could ever create
It was like the poster boy for "babby's first rpg".
>MUH BALANCE
What about the roleplaying? Goddamn I hate Icewind Dalefags
The same numbers in the OP image
God I wish I was Neanderthal or Bog enough to understand this 200IQ game
I just like rpgs, so I like them all.
I fucking hate initial character creation though. So many options and I want to play them all.
Gog is fucking nothing my dude
There's a big difference between MUH BALANCE and specific classes being able to solo the game on the hardest difficulty with little thought or input from the player.
Deadfire felt like a Marvel movie. It had so much hamfisted silly humor in coupled with weird tonal shifts all the time. It really felt like it was made for the modern audience.
>meet pirates in Nekataka
>they are fucking brutal and running the slave trade in the city's depths
>meet pirates at their base later
>all of them are lol so randum XD yo ho yo ho drink rum
Unless its Arcane Mage, none in DA:O can. The combat is quite challenging at times requiring micromanagement. You are mistaking it with PoE on Path of the Damned.
Too bad Deadfire failed at that too.
>game at version 4.0
>Sawyer nerfed mid-tier classes to the ground making them low tier
>but won't touch the more game-breaking stuff
DAMNIT SAWYER, NERF MONK ALREADY, ALL MY FAVOURITES GOT NERFED AND THEY WERE ONLY LIKE HALF AS STRONG AS MONK
>cooldown combat
what does this mean when said in a derogative way? combat that is based around using abilities whenever they're off cooldown in like a rotation?
i'm actually asking because i'm making an rpg with turn based combat
>The data was extrapolated from the Achievement percentage data provided by Steam's API
>date was under 3 months from release
One is a crew doing a job under a ruthless captain hidden under the nose of the capital and thus, the other is in a extremely fortified pirate island/cantina/bordello. Obviously there are difference because they are in different situations.
Don't combine cooldowns with turn-based combat, it's a really boring combination. Having a resource like MP is better instead.
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 did it in an interesting way. In FFTA 1, everyone would throw out their strongest spells and win immediately, so in 2 everyone starts with 0mp and it increases each turn.
Delvers Row was run by the pirate old guard while the pirates at the fort were the younger pirate zoomers who are lacking in tact and grace.
an MMO rotation like WoW can be a thing in the game yeah, but he just means skills have CDs like in WoW. CDs pause with the game. It is not a particularly bad thing, I think he simply meant there is cooldown combat and he doesnt like it cause it is in WoW and that is popular or whatever. I cant think of that many RTwP games that have it.
Quality meme, exquisite!
DA:O is RTwP not turn based.
So what numbers are you two using again? The fucking site doesn't even have deadfire in the list of games to begin with.
>Obsidian put all that effort into the character creator
>in a game with preset companions so you only use it for the protagonist unless you want to Icewind Dale things up
Amusingly enough, I enjoyed the game way more with custom companions. A full party of multiclassed characters is incredibly fun for all the goofy combos.
>"I am fucking invincible" says Paladin after receiving Fighter subclass
user look at the spoiler of the person I was replying to.
>Fighter
Try Chanter, MUCH more invincible. Some dude kills the megabosses solo with it, which is mindboggling because it causes me trouble with a maxed out party
Just copy the currently best existing turn based rpg
You have to open up the file you stupid mongoloid - it doesn't list every game on the site
BUT WHAT IF IT SPOILS THE GAME FOR ME user! Aeris Dies
>The fucking site doesn't even have deadfire in the list of games to begin with.
user Steam has thousands of games, that's only a sample. The download link for the full list is on page 1,
arstechnica.com
Assuming I like PoE and PoE 2, as well as the orignal Planescape Torment. Will I like Tides of Numera? It got shitposted to death here, but I can never tell if that was legit shitposting to death, or just the usual hate.
i originally had no cooldowns whatsoever, but then i decided that i kinda have to tie down some of the power of an ability to a cooldown to make them competitive with passive abilities (since you can freely choose 5 from either kind). that said, most abilities are still on a very short cooldown (1-2 turns) or no cooldown at all. the main limiting factor is mana.
but yeah i'm aware of the cooldown piano playstyle that MMORPGs have pushed and i deliberately want to avoid it.
Oh boy, I've ran that too. Both are insane for different reasons. Paladin/ Chanter is a super team-based tank+healer. Paladin/ Fighter on the other hand isn't much of a team player but literally impossible to kill. By combining Shieldbearer and Unbroken, you have so much armor and so much fortitude and more that it's too hard to damage the character.
>B-but Nintendo...
Pathetic my dude
A one month time frame. Really? That's your numbers?
That is not SJW thing.
Almost every Obsidian game blueballs you from attractive straight female romance options.
It was like that in KOTOR2 and all of NWN2.
Initial sales usually make up the majority, and long-term sales are usually on heavy discount.
"the genre" in this case, is one where even Fire Emblem is better, and has nothing to do with PoE.
This is mainly true because of a marketing push, something games like PoE don't have. I do think it suffered the banner saga problem though
So I guess Os2 had lost 75% of its user base between the first month it was out, and the three years that os1 has been out.
Enjoyed both games, but haven't finished POE2 yet cause my PC is shit, and i have to wait until may to proper upgrade.
Sad to realize that CRPG reneissance already ended, i guess its started back in 2015 and ended in 2018, doubt we will see game like OS2 and POE1-2 soon enough.
I've played and enjoyed both pillars and Dos 1 and 2. Is Deadfire a decent game?
this is a bait post, isnt it?
Its Pirates of the Carribean THE GAME, don't expect same atmosphere as POE1
How so my man?
> i guess its started back in 2015 and ended in 2018
Just recently Pathfinder Kingmaker was released, that easily trumps everything made during "renessanse" aside maybe Wastelands 2, and after it Atom RPG which is essentially first proper Fallout type game since Fallout 2. Theres still plenty of RPGs in development too.
Yes.
He said PoE 2, not AC4
>Just recently Pathfinder Kingmaker was released, that easily trumps everything made during
Now thats a real bait.
I unironically dropped the game when this gay literally locked me out of every other romance in the game cause I let him down gently, which , apparently, still flagged me as being on his fucking romance path.
Fuck these cucks
>atom RPG
Now we are talking bait.
Games with big D&D style parties like this live or die by how good the companions are. His inexperienced chosen one stuff was pretty interesting but the constant "WANNA FUCK LUL" crap was incredibly outrageous.
Also mfw there are random sex events when you're out on sea and the crewmember involved is random too. I had like a 80 year old dude fucking my character because I didn't understand wtf the scene was leading up to
Didn't realize that was a thing. I was romancing Xoti and still got prompts from Maia.
This is thread for RPG lovers, unrelated kids please go back to your Fortnite sessions.
Also, speaking of games to be released in 2019
Wastelands 3
Disco Elysium
Greedfall
Werewolf: The Apocalypse:
ENCASED
Stoneshard
Druidstone
etc.
Can you kill your companions and crew?
>arguing about which cRPG is better
Im just fucking grateful we're getting cRPGs again instead of the clusterfuck of action adventure games that called themselves RPGs for over a decade because they had a meaningless skill tree
>Im just fucking grateful we're getting cRPGs again instead of the clusterfuck of action adventure games that called themselves RPGs for over a decade because they had a meaningless skill tree
Witcher series?
Though I'd call The Witcher games Telltale games with bad combat.
No, its Two Worlds with one world.
>Just recently Pathfinder Kingmaker was released, that easily trumps everything
this thread has taught me to add kingmaker shill on my list of opinions to discard
>Werewolf: The Apocalypse
I was a bit disappointed to find out that you play as an established character with a backstory rather than making your own.
filter the word "rpg" too, or better yet - filter yourself out of rpg related threads
>you're not le true fan like me
no one gives a shit about your opinion you stupid faggot. Why are you acting like you have some kind of clout over what video games you like
Nah, there were other weightier reasons.
If you're on a romance path with one person you can still get prompts with other people but when it gets to a certain point they will go "I don't want to piss off this other person..." and you will be permanently locked out of their romance. Even if you dump the person you're with.
>you don't have shit taste, guess you must like fortnite!
POE2 was fine. The writing was nowhere near as bad as I expected from the screenshots that surfaced after release and you were given a good degree of freedom to do whatever you wanted in terms of interacting with NPCs. The combat was nice and had a meaty feel to it, but the magic felt a little shallow.
The ship combat sections got old fast, though. There was never a ship-fight where I didn't just ignore the cannonfire and just charge the enemy ship, board them, and kill the crew.
I had very low expectations after Tranny but POE 2 was a solid 6.5-7/10.
I am sorry, victim of common core, but having a shitty opinion is not human right. If you say something retarded, people will point at it and call you a retard.
>tips fedora
i am not guilty of donating to Obsidian on kickstarter so have no regrets on calling their shit shit
It's unfortunate for you that you can't load a save state to a point in this thread where you weren't an insufferable faggot.
They added some magran's challenges that make ship shit combat more difficult and make boarding riskier.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
Thats a good thing you dumbo
Why is Yea Forums so lukewarm on Divinity Original Sin 2? You can't even get replies if you make a thread about it.
Dos has gay lizards though
Listen to some interviews from Obsidian, POE literally saved the company and they thought it would be a sustainable model going forward (hence POE2 being on Fig, etc).
I think the real answer was mentioned here- a lot of boomers bought POE1 as a throwback to relive their old BG/IWD years and realized you can’t go home again. They don’t like it as much as they used to. So they didn’t bother with POE2.
Plenty of heterosexuality, though. It even lets you rescue damsels. Despite having some gay stuff, the game never feels like it's preaching at you.
>realized you can’t go home again.
Kingmaker exists.
Not living up to BG nostalgia is simply because PoE is shit.
It's because Obsidian games are shit. Shit story telling, shit design and shitty bugs. I really don't get how they survived this long.
it's not shit but it's not good either
Please explain what makes Kingmaker so good, because everyone else considers it an ugly, buggy, tedious mess.
Can you start using a trip please?
That is some atrocious grammar.
>Obsidian still buthurt they actually aquired Pathfinder license in 2016, but were too lazy and got BTFO by Paizo and based slav devs in 2018, completely ruining their reputation as rpg makers
>one has fun combat and multiplayer
>other has shit combat and no multiplayer
HHHHHMMMMMMMM
I wish I could muster enough strength to finish PoE (only Act3 and beyond plus Llengrath left). Although I haven't touched it in months, I invested too much time to eventually abandon it. Maybe once Deadfire: Definite Edition drops.
