When insomniac fell for the brown shooter meme

Attached: Resistance_Fall_of_Man.jpg (256x299, 95K)

Attached: maxresdefault-3.jpg (1280x720, 121K)

they did it super well. that trilogy was well above the standards for campaign at the time

It was fun for a playthrough with my brother. 2 was a shithole and I never played 3.

I really want to play this series because the third one is supposedly good and I'm a sucker for portable spin-offs, but I was shocked that they weren't released digitally.

Attached: 5GpQtSufcszqlfq-K0FIaQHAv7oQYHZihle_uFgbT7M.jpg (320x240, 19K)

3 had highs and lows, but the entire campaign was coop, and there was a mechanic that upgraded the weapon you used the most, no spending items or currency on it, just use it and it gets better with time.

it was the only game shown off in early PS3 demos that was actually completely honest about its graphics. Overused brown and bloom palette aside, it was a legitimately impressive graphical showcase for the time.

Not even all this FromSoftware shilling made people care about pic related but I must admit that I'm a curious.

Attached: Enchantarm.jpg (284x350, 25K)

This game was alright

Attached: 270532b.jpg (191x220, 22K)

Attached: projectslypheed.jpg (640x903, 585K)

Man, that had awful cutscenes and story. The gameplay was pretty rocking, though.

Attached: Star_Ocean_5.png (250x310, 175K)

I really want to play this game someday, alongside Folklore. Man, Game Repulic had some potential, at least I'm comfortable knowing that Yoshiki Okamoto is filthy rich because of Monster Strike.
Wasn't this game a Star Ocean knock-off?

>Wasn't this game a Star Ocean knock-off?

It was an anime space shooter.

folklore is kino

This and The Last Hope port only got my hopes up for a re-release of a collection of PSP remakes and I'm still here waiting.

Attached: 407831.jpg (500x486, 31K)

Its because it wasn't Till the End of Time
That game was the tits

I'm shocked how easily people have forgotten the dark age of jrpgs on PS3. It's shocking how much kusoge we got. I'm curious to play some of them.

Attached: TimeAndEternity.jpg (256x295, 50K)

Blue Dragon

god i remember back in 06 when journalists wouldn't stop sucking this and gears of war's dick the whole year. it really was the beginning of the end.

I like when game titles can be easily mistaken for porno titles

Wasnt this game really bad, atleast it tried to do something new i guess

Attached: large.jpg (215x300, 28K)

mfw I will definitely play the shit out of this game and Lost Odyssey when I eventually get a xone.

Attached: 1498783939387.png (502x502, 141K)

I will always remember dat ass.

Is Time and Eternity wasn't bad enough for you, I remember you of pic related.

Attached: Cross_Edge_USA.jpg (294x340, 33K)

I collect cheap, awful ps2 games. Play most of them. I've learned to think of "bad" ideas or design as endearing when it's not rage inducing

Attached: 1148339-summoner.jpg (424x600, 44K)

Oh man, that was my first JRPG for the PS3. Lucky me. At least it had Etna and some decent fanservice.

Resistance 3 is great though. Takes what worked from 1 and 2. Incredible environments (best on PS3), great writing, tight combat, good shit.

Back before Volition was known as the Red Faction/Saints Row factory.

Summoner was great, at least on the PC. The sequel just sucked.

This was given away for "free" from PS+ years ago, so I've still got it. I want to play it literally just for her ass. Is it worth it?

Obligatory
youtu.be/WWtpAzbEnc8

I'm sad that I will never play through pic related because of absurd prices and no digital release. Maybe one day I'll try the japanese version.

Attached: Ar_tonelico_Qoga.jpg (220x255, 22K)

I'll post a handful of my favorites.

Attached: 220px-Warriors_of_Might_and_Magic_Coverart.png (220x312, 160K)

Attached: 220px-Dark_Angel_-_Vampire_Apocalypse_Coverart.png (220x314, 130K)

It was the worst Ar Tonelico game, but still pretty fun and with a great soundtrack. Cocona was and still is cute.

Attached: midclub.jpg (225x225, 12K)

i mean its short and fun enough
id say its worth it for the music and the setting

I know Sony added all these older and forgotten games to PS Now to pad out the list but it's pretty fun to browse through them anyways

Attached: images.jpg (319x158, 7K)

I tried to get into it, I really did.

It's similar to Alan Wake as in it's clear a lot of thought went into them both but the actual gameplay will put you to sleep.

We can only hope that someday pic related and the prequel comes to Steam.
It's shocking how many PS3 games would be greatly improved from a PC release with a few tweaks. The recent Atelier release on steam being good examples.

is this a nostalgia thread? I remember playing it when I was 12

youtu.be/BIXsaabAcbg

it felt extremely generic, like literally every aspect of it has been done a million times elsewhere to the point it's not even worth playing. just like hollow knight.

YES, my dad and I did a replay recently. Didn't realize how short it actually was though when I was a kid

Still pretty much the best open world mayhem game I've played. What I wouldn't give for a PC port with zero fog.

Attached: 220px-Crimson_Tears_Coverart.png (220x313, 148K)

It just needed more gunfights. Using your powers to fuck around with the Russians was easily the best part of the game.

I never played these but I still remember the edgy live action commercial with the I'M A MERCENARY jingle, quick rundown on what makes the first game good?

open world mayhem game, it was the first game to do the far cry styled hunting around an open world for important targets and being able to call in vehicle and weapon drops on the fly. killing members of the north korean govt and working with allies actually had effects on the open world as well, say if you did missions for the chinese they would start taking more ground and fucking up the americans and russians in the region or vice versa.

2 was the best game in the series easily. Nice shit taste retard.

My god I love that game, just the right amount of fun and camp, and that music!

Well I'm spent, have a good thread

Attached: Mischief_Makers.jpg (376x265, 28K)

One day Sandlot will make a sequel to it after years of milking EDF. Even if they need to tie it into EDF in some manner for brand recognition.

I even bought it as a kid. Loved it to hell even though I didn't speak a word of English and had no understanding of the plot whatsoever.

Switch port when?

Better gameplay than the V section in DMC V.

El Shaddai

I always see Star Ocean games on sale on the psn store, that said, which are worth playing for someone that likes JRPG and is not picky unless it is something about cute little girls?

I played the Dreamcast version. It was pretty alright. That hub theme is 10/10

This was offered with GWG back in December, many seemed to appreciate it and want the sequel to be BC

Oh no you didn't

This game looks and feels super fucking cheap, beyond shovelware. It's like it was made by two krauts on a weekend. Was this a tie-in to something?

I loved the first game. It still tried to be somewhat serious, but had some decently funny stuff buried in it. Then the sequel was just full of crappy comedy and you got shot in the ass lol

I think about it now and then, wondering how big publishers have strayed so far from the path of making worthwhile games. EA has always been an awful company but there was a time where they would still regularly release weird shit like that. Now they release nothing but bland AAA trash, same for Activision.

Hatsworth is to me, emblematic of what big budget Western publishers have lost over the past 10 years. I suppose they're trying to recapture it with their indie publishing labels but it's not the same. Giving money to some talented amateurs to try their hand at full on development is not the same thing as funding a professional product that isn't bland trash.

Can't wait for people to think it's some lost gem come its re-release this year, despite it being a rather middling game with repetitive combat at best.

Anachronox as well. The two Western attempts at FF7, both pretty good.

Get on my level.

Attached: mindjak.jpg (256x316, 24K)

I had rented the game as a kid and liked it back in 1997 or so. A few years later in the early 2000s I went on a trip to Mexico and found a little video game shop/rental store. They had a used copy/rental of the Japanese version of the game on sale for maybe $10, give or take. Came in the box with manual. I bought it as a curiosity. When I'm leaving I decide to open the box and look over the manual and I noticed they used some kind of tool to burn off and melt off some of the plastic on the back of the cartridge shell. It worked just fine when I tried it at home.

Least they're both on Steam and run no problem on Win10. Septerra Core did not age well, at all. Especially if you hate waiting on attack animations to go off given everyone spends a year to jump into melee range before backing off.

Anachronox is such a weird hodge-podge means of doing JRPG in Unreal engine while having third-person exploration/conversations. You can tell the engine wasn't really meant to handle it.

It can. It is.

That game was total shit, why anyone liked it is beyond me. Cringy MC in a highly generic TPS with a terrible gimmick that you could just spam over and over again. The story was forgettable and pointless too. This game had zero redeeming features.

Now this had some good shit in it. The weapons were awesome and I liked the story and characters. Sadly it was a bit of a grind, felt like a single player MMO. I wish we could get a sequel that trimmed the fat and added some more depth.

Because what the picture doesn't show you is that she only dates chads that don't even play video games because they think they're boring.

It unironically started off so well, until you realize that it was bending over backwards to STAY generic nepshit. All the missed opportunities with character interactions, all the lack of Sherman until the remastered edition, all the lack of pretty much any real reasoning behind actions after a third into the game.

Fuck I hate how I can play it and feel the same way I feel about FFXV.

This was really great though.

Perusing this thread forces me to wonder what the fuck happened to video games. What happened that the only things we're allowed to have these days are MOBAs/BRs, """souls-like""" games and first-person shooters? What happened to diversity in gameplay and settings?

Man, I loved Fist of Mars. The main theme was pretty kickass for a GBA game.

Andy Serkis and that fox guy in this were hilarious

Perhaps not forgotten, but never discussed despite being an amazing jrpg in the generation where as we've already said here, has very few. It was even taken off steam so you can't really get it anymore

This game is way better than the shovelware-tier cover would have you believe

Attached: 44235_front.jpg (640x908, 93K)

whoooaaa that is a fucking buried blast from the past

>because of absurd prices and no digital release
It is expensive now? I got it for like $10 back then.

Ive spent more time than I want to admit with this game and yeah its terrible. The stealth is like tenshin but then shit, you have a run that starts you out slow and makes you run faster over time. Which usually kicks in when you dont want to and you just run straight into enemies that wreck you. The game stuns you if you get hit and its easy to get stunlocked that way. The platforming also is jank. The game has a lot of effort put in, and i have no idea how hte designers didnt spend time on fixing these obvious issues

No joke I loved this game. First Bungie game too, played it a ton on my PC before I had even heard of Halo.

Fun game, the banter is top tier. Nothing better than fiona and the female merc bantering about how she isnt a whore, she just works for money

Gimmicky combat system aside, this shit was pretty much an SRW clone (not really a clone though, since it was developed by Banpresto)

>Gimmicky combat system aside

Oh, I'd completely forgotten about that. You could evade literally every attack by just moving the cursor in a circle.

My favorite thing to do was ice enemies with the shotgun and then blow them to pieces with normal bullets. I also loved the spinning death wheel. Those old hags used to scare the living fuck out of me making me blind and shit. And I never figured out exactly what triggered the death eye super mode. The bosses are fantastic and the rag doll physics can be tear inducingly hilarious.

Primal was great. Would pay big money to have a real remaster like Ratchet & Clank of this. It had different qorlds, and in every world you'd look completely different and have different skills.

1 and 2 were kino, 3 was kinda weird in a bad way.

Option 2: They're dead

Convince me to play this.

Literally every girl I knew into games back in the day fucking loved DoA. I dunno why but you give a 13-16 year old the chance to play as a slut with giant tits and they jump at the chance.

Fishnet.

I actually loved this game. Good post.

Worst taste ITT. Fucking abysmal.

>Option 1: They got a life and moved on from the internet.
Some people get a new internet life instead. They delete all accounts and create new identity for themselves. Sometimes they go full normie tier, and sometimes people delete their facebooks accounts in order to become full on degenerate furries.

>people delete their facebooks accounts in order to become full on degenerate furries.
Can confirm.

So many PS3 exclusives feel forgotten and its only been one fucking gen damn.

This game was actually pretty decent.

yeah, the game was good

Its good though ain't it? At least that is what I heard.

It's comparable to turok 3. It's ok but not great.

classic

I have actually been curious about this for a while, how is it?

Played this and the sequel Bonecraft. The sex was pretty boring outside a few key scenarios, but it wasn't all bad. Also very easy to edit the in game values so you can have everything unlocked from the start.

Its because I fucked up and grinded like an imbecile in what was my personal dorf fort of JRPGs.

Grinding isn't an issue if you played the pc version.

Tech, he didnt lose it because of KoA.
He lost it because he bought another studio and tried to make an MMO.
Granted, the game didnt break even, but it came damn close. Close enough where investors wouldnt really care because it was a new IP and it sold like 1.2m units, which is fantastic for that timeframe and for a new IP.

If he hadnt tried to make an MMO larger than WoW's scale on an unproven MMO dev that he bought for full price AND the governor didnt 100% fuck his plans over less than 2 days before they would have been saved, he would still be perfectly fine.

>the teaser ending for Dark Alliance III
RIP Black Isle Studios, hopefully we get a sequel some day that isn't a shitty open-world cash-in

Kero Blaster.

A game Daisuke Amaya made after Cave Story, which unfortunately will forever overshadow it. It's a really fun run-and-gun game with weird weapons, enemies, and boss fights. It even got a free additional campaign called Zangyou Mode a few months after it launched. It's a real shame that people pass it off as low effort pixel shit.

Released on PSP around the same time as the original Rune Factory, Innocent Life was dubbed as a 'Futuristic Harvest Moon'. Worst game in the series, the fun to be had is inversely proportional to time spent on it. It gets ridiculously padded and progressing in crafting is a fucking drag, not to mention the post-game event which requires maximum friendship with every fucking single NPC.

This was my first experience of games that have awful gameplay but get shilled because of cute anime girls.

The first Izuna was bad, but the sequel is actually awesome.

It has full co-op, which was a lot of fun.

So is this game actually about luring top level executives away from their cushy jobs to work at your corporation?

I rented this game once just because it was one of the few games that would let you earn pants for your avatar on 360.

Attached: 514ZM27XZYL._SY445_.jpg (321x445, 39K)

It also didn't help that Konami kept trying to sabotage the game but cutting it's budget constantly. Murayama left the game before it finished development because of Konami's bullshit and left the industry for years after that.

MC3 aged okay but still wasn't nearly as great as I remembered

Only major issue with the game was the enemy turns taking forever. It suffered due to a lot of clashing ideas. It was a steampunk game about Abe Lincoln making a team of American Literary characters to fight Lovecraft monsters in the style of a comic book. It had no idea what it wanted to be. Still enjoyed it and wish it did better.

Loved this as a kid, too bad sequel turned out to be garbage. I think you can say the same about every game itt lol.

IIRC Uematsu only did the opening theme, and even that was rearranged by Narita the same way everything he wrote for Before Meteor was.

It's very bad. Not as bad as the Neptunia games but still pretty fucking shit, I'll tell you what. The only good thing is the transformation music.

>there's a version with dismemberment

Man i used to date a girl like that back when i was 16, absolute excelent taste in vidya.
I swear i finished more games in those 2 years we dated than i finished alone
sometimes i feel like i fucked up big time by letting her go, never dated anyone after her.

I got all three of these for a tenner, tried to play them in order, but the first one was so boring and brown that I couldn't do it.

Shame too, because it had some fun ideas. The alien guns were really satisfying, particularly their base AR.

wasnt this throughly mediocre?

>unlock the framerate in the .ini file
>playing fine until I reached a city much later in the game
>game starts spazzing out during a cutscene and starts looping endlessly and you can't skip it
>have to redo the whole level again at 30fps to progress
Going from 100+fps to 30 on my 144Hz monitor fucking hurt me.
Still a decent gears of war clone, except to get the true ending you aren't supposed to drink that silver liquid shit.

Come on Sony, just fund a new one.

I downloaded this after beating Xenogears because the graphics seemed kinda similar and a Mitsuda soundtrack.
Is it even worth playing?

Been meaning to play this forever. The setting and scale are cool but the gameplay seems pretty much like drawn out rock paper scissors.

Never played this too much but I have great memories of playing Dark Alliance 2 with a friend when I was younger. I'd kill for another game like it, or at least a port with added online.

Short but sweet. Glad I finally bought it and got around to playing it.

I know. The demo they developed for VR before they made it into a full game was even titled The Getaway: London Heist or something like that.

I loved all the ideas that game had, the execution led a lot to be desired but the beast aspect was fun. I especially loved the idea that main attack was on L1 because the left hand really isn't doing much most of the time aside from piloting the character.

This game was fun solo and fun with friends, I'm actually mad that no one wants to do anything more with the series because it seemed to have some legs to.
I was legit excited about the sequel rumors during the PS4 launch that all but fizzled out.
Conniving sorceress Lucy Lawless seemed a waste.

Holy shit a free pager.

A thoroughly mediocre game with some really awesome, over the top qtes. I'd like to see a sequel or remake with more refined gameplay.

Attached: header.jpg (460x215, 26K)

Its actually a fairly awesome game. It use to have a really active online, unfortunately I only found this out when it was mostly dead, and today it's 100% dead along with all other DS online. Still fun single player and would recommend if you like PSO.

Sacred 2 is a shit.

Attached: 51RJWHHZEGL[1].jpg (352x500, 50K)

Didn't THQ Nordic buy the fights to this fairly recently?

I never understood why anyone would take the evil magic water because you can kite enemies pretty easily with the girl and if you played co-op the guy's whole purpose in life was to make sure the enemy stayed in one spot so you could snipe them easily.

>Sacred 2 is a shit.
But it's almost the same as the first one user.
You surely meant 3.

Got this when it came out, bought Xbox Live just for it, turns out my internet couldn't handle online. Worst day ever. Oddly enough, it couldn't handle Halo 2 online either, but Gears of War was okay. I don't miss the days of shit internet.

It really is fascinating. Microsoft actually tried to get into the Japanese market, but muh grorious nippon onry mentality completely fucked it. It's a shame too considering a lot of them were really fucking good titles. I'll always commend them for trying even though it didn't work out.

It's not worth getting for the singleplayer because the AI cheats on the highest difficulty, and it's too easy on anything lower.
Only get it if you have friends to play with who care about games.

Also, it's definitively $100 USD on Ebay; a far cry from its price 8-9 years ago but it's a really good game with nothing quite like it except Sonic Shuffle.

Remake without tank controls when?

It had the exact same combat from Koudelka (Shadow Hearts prequel...or Shadow Hearts was a sequel to koudelka, u get the point). But with pokemon system added.

You could use the main characters for combat or the Arms (robots that you collect). Even a few of them were easter eggs from other games, like Otogi.

>tfw remembering them rushing 3's ending and then ending it with a half-assed not-cliffhanger when they just needed one more game to tie the loose ends and end the war properly
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I've watched a walkthrough of this on YouTube and holy shit about that's exactly how you shouldn't make a rhythm game.
Up Up Down Down , repeat ad nauseum.

I was really surprised to see a MJ cameo though especially since Sega cut all wires with him after allegations back in Sonic 3 days.

No, but there is a fan translation.

i like the warriors better but this is up there for sure
so many characters with different play style

this
Blue Dragon was kino
my favorite turn based game by far

I've beaten it,there isnt a single reedeiming quality about it.
The only cool thing about its the crafting monster mechanic like Megaten, too bad its absolutely pointless because its always better to just have the human party members.
Not to mention that because of the way turns work in the game its literally more optimal and faster to auto battle than to manually control the party,so its a bad game that plays itself.

Never ever boys

why did people even like queers of war? it was shit

Better flight controls than Trashthem.

Man The Warriors is great
bodyslamming some mooks on top of train carriage is fucking kino

Bulletstorm
Overlord 1 and 2
Sudeki
Ghost Rider for PS2

Darkwatch and singularity for sure. Primal's PS2 demo disc version was fun as well.

Oh hey, I remember being hyped about it but not being able to play it, and then I couldn't remember the name. Was wondering how would it work, but then heard that it was "Escort Mission: The Game", which diminished my hype.

Why is his 1911 empty?

Because he was using it, that's what the knife is for

Does anyone still play the Brothers in Arms games these days? Inarguably the last good games Gearbox ever did, even if HH was easy as fuck to solo

Knew a dude who swore by that game. He was also kind of weird, but he did lend me Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo Reach. Pretty nice dude, just a bit weird.

Why not holster your gun then?

>Not even all this FromSoftware shilling made people care

Before DeS became super popular, FromSoftware was always that strange developer that made games with a cult fanbase.

I was going to post this
I loved this game as a kid

I was going to post this too
Genuinely surprised anyone else knows of this game

Remember when Criterion made an FPS game for some reason?

>That one /k/ user who made a 30 minute video ripping apart the guns in this game
Was a good video desu

Bad AI and basically went down the Saints Row road where they increased the goofiness by 1000. The first one is an overall better game. Also the PS2 port is garbage.

I remeber it had awesome customization.

Closest Hellsing game I can think of

was developed not far from me, hard to forget about this game. DarkSect0r was a really neat concept.

Why not just post the video you are talking about? Would make discussion on a board meant for discussion a lot easier and would help it not water down further into meme spouting. Thank you.

Sooooo much fun
God of war before God of War, shame its super short.

Because I don't remember what it was called

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

What do you want me to do user? Type into YouTube
"The problem with black's guns"
You know how many lists that will get me put on after this Christchurch shit?

To be fair, you have to know about a game before it can be forgotten. Nobody knows about this one.

Gubbimint is your friend, user.

I know about it and own it, it runs like sub 20fps on ps3, gonna wait when I can run it properly on emulator.

Yeah this game is pretty good actually. People should check out Mini Ninjas as well

Sony pushed it pretty hard as their alternative to RE4. But then Capcom ported RE4 to PS2 and everyone forgot it. It was pretty good though.

This game WAS actual shit and the story was some of the worst.

one of the best mediocre games I ever played

shame the servers are kill
really wanted to play this with my brother

What was his name?

Remember Untold Legends?

shit now I want to play it again

That's a boner inducing midriff

Wasn't this game also a ps3 launch title?

played this one recently, I like how you can summon gretchens ultimate attack when there are no enemies around. Also, the game is pretty infamous for it's brutal QTEs.

I've actually been craving a game with this style gameplay for a bit. It's CLOSE to being a diablo-like game, but there's that certain blandness that really sets it apart as its own thing.

it was but as a separate unrelated game

What about this one? Haven't completed it, got to the part when jeanne's friend became the armlet bearer.
Actually, I've got a lot of games from this thread in my physical collection.

Still have this installed on Steam, I loved it.

no one forgot ssx

I bought this for Eliza Dushku. What a bad game.

the ultimate Quake 3 mod for boomers

The input contextual combat in this game was such a brilliant idea, it baffles me that I've never seen anything similar.

This sounds like it has the same sound effects as Dark Stone

This game wasn't perfect by a long shot, but goddamn was it crazy to actually be in a match with 200 other people. I miss this shit so much

Attached: MAG.jpg (208x242, 13K)

That was a fun game, I remember beating it and still played a bit more afterward

Found the fucking shitter. Bet you could'nt even Kung Fu flip. Bet you hid in party chat and didn't come out between rounds to talk shit. Bet you could'nt even weapon slide. Did you even have a clan on Gamebattles? Shut your fucking mouth.

the game could have been good if it had online multiplayer instead of adhoc multiplayer.

Forget it, it wasn't made by Ascaron, and it was utter shit

I remember playing a repack of this when it originally came out on the Dreamcast, to fit it on a CD-R most of the cutscenes had been taken out in their entirety. I had no clue what was going on with the plot and the game would always crash right before the last stage.

Resistance wasn't too bad, it was more original than most shooters at the time.

EA did ;_;

What ever happened to EAbig? I forgot about them but they put out some good games back in the day.

When square tried making a beat em up

Attached: Bouncerbox.jpg (220x312, 29K)

That was one of the first games I remember playing on ps2, it was actually pretty fun. Rented that shit from red octane which was like Gamefly before gamefly existed.

gtf outta here. I love EDF but 5 is objectively the best. ever since 2017 they pretty much stay the same but add new shit. like a good sequel ought to

better game than cave story was.

Try Industrial Spy: Operation Espionage on the Dreamcast.

Is this game worth playing? Looking at videos it looks pretty interesting.

nah

I'm STILL MAD
I thought that fucking piece of shit was a sequel

Attached: 60251-seek-and-destroy-amiga-cd32-front-cover.jpg (800x707, 98K)

this was a fun game, flawed but fun

it's just anime boobs punchout

you mean EA Vancouver
their last game was a Medal of Honor game back in 2007, they were supposed to release a Star Wars title but it got cancelled by EA. Now EA Big doesn't exist, they shuffled the developers to make FIFA and stuff now.
