Me to user. The last time I enjoyed a fpsbefore destiny 1 was fucking MW2. I can't believe what a shitshow D2 turned out to be.

I stopped playing D2 a month after it came out, started playing a bit ago after forsaken came out and it got alot better. They definitely fucked up hard though, its a shame they took their time just making up for it.

The best thing about D3 is that redditors won't be able to blame Activision when it's a disaster. The things that make D2 suck have nothing to do with business or monitization, it's 100% horrible design choices.

The soundtrack was fucking incredible. I loved just talking to my friends while in orbit late at night.

I hate everyone that bitched about the story in the first game. One of the few things I really liked about the first Destiny was the grimoire. Getting those vague fragments of story and worldbuilding reminded me of Marathon. The only shitty thing was the grimoire wasn't actually in the damn game.

But everyone bitched so for D2 they just removed the grimoire entirely and added a bunch of cutscenes and quippy characters. And somehow they made the story itself even worse.

Rumors are that Bungie is stepping up the RPG side of the game for Destiny 3. My hopes are if Destiny 2 was a hard knee jerk to the casual audience, I hope Bungie has a hard knee jerk to the more hardcore. But lets see if Bungie releases another wet rag of a game and takes a year to make it decent, they are 2 for 2 in that regard.

I think the Leviathan is a cool setting, a retardedly huge ship that can have all sorts of different biomes in it. I like Eater of Worlds a lot but I only did Spire of Stars once because you practically had to be max level to do it.

I play on PC and yes, plenty of people still play, matchmaking doesn't take longer than a few seconds to fill up any game mode.
If you don't have friends, you can use the various lfg sites or the official app to find a team for any content where there is no built in matchmaking.

The morons conflated codex lore with game story, and ranted like fucking idiots, which got the grimoire stripped.

Quickplay yeah. You see people decked out in ultra sweaty loadouts to roflstomp people there since comp is too sweaty for them.

I just play whenever Mayhem is on as those loadouts doesn't mean shit when everyone gets 7-8 supers in a game.

To be fair, a lot of things that was horseshit in D2 was a result of trying to address things people whined about like little children.

Not really. Pvp was left off kinda shit because it had a heavier focus on abilities. Hunter Nighstalkers can (and still) dominate the meta, leaving no real other room for fun

Kabr is Atheon, or some reasonable facsimile thereof. The Vault of Glass is a place where the Vex are literally trying to write themselves into the very fabric of reality, by infecting and overwriting everything else. Kabr and his fireteam went in to try to shut it down because Kabr was an expert on the Vex, and the rest of his fireteam went in because they were the only ones who could stand too be around him. At a certain point it became obvious that they were trapped in the Vault and it was only a matter of time (no pun intended) before the Vex found them. One of the members of the fireteam killed themself so that they wouldn't be absorbed, Kabr had a different idea. He chose to fashion armor and weapons from the fallen Vex, to try and hide and learn from them. Except this only served to speed the process along. Eventually, Kabr had a choice, either die and let all his knowledge be lost forever, or embrace the Vex and become one with them. Knowing that the Vex would eventually eat all.of existence, he poured what Light he had into the Sig is, a weapon capable of shielding Guardians from the heavy ravages of the Vault's power. (Kabr was a Bubble Titan)

Eventually, having been absorbed by the Vault, his power helped the Vault grow into the huge powerhouse it is when we arrive. Atheon, Time's Conflux is the single point where all timelines converge upon, and Atheon is Kabr, having long since lost his humanity and being used as the last line of defense. But deep down inside him, his old memories remain, and this is why he continuously rages against the Vex by leaving a weapon that you can use to defeat him.

This is why the Mythoclast is "curiously shaped for human hands". He gives it to you when you defeat him so that Guardians will have the power to keep this from happening again.

The Bungie that made Halo does not exist any more. A lot of those people are gone now. Think of it like how the cells in your body are all replaced after seven years. You're still you, but you're not the same version of you. I don't expect anything special to come from Bungie again. I think the people that believe Activision were responsible for making Destiny 1 and 2 what they were are either naive or just a little too optimistic. That being said, I'll still give Destiny 3 a look but don't expect anything amazing.

Forsaken was a great expansion though, I'll give them that.
