I think characters like Suija, Yunfei, or Shizu who spend a lot of time in the air were doomed to be DLC at best from the very start. Considering they want to introduce a lot of new players to the franchise they probably didn't want to include a bunch of characters who break the "most of the game is grounded" rule.

Footsies game is kinda like tekken in matchups where neither character has safe pressure while "combos" are even shorter and simpler than SC.

to none you retardo, tekken and SC are 3D so its mostly about poking and understanding the space, frames, properties of things, etc , DBFZ is ultra high paced mixup, oki and combo simulator that rewards playing like a coked up monkey, SamSho is really slow and methodical, you deal tons of damage and need to be patient when playing, definitely not a game for everyone, but if you like it you'll love it

I mean, it's not similar at all to any of those. First of all it's 2.5D so it's already nothing like Tekken and SC, and attacks matter way more in Samurai Shodown than they do in FighterZ. You're not going to be pulling off insane, three man air combos that end with the earth exploding in SS. You will, however, stab someone in the gut and have them bleed out for 75% of their remaining health with a well timed super.

haven't played much CvS2 but you could choose how many characters you had iirc, so 1 character vs 3 would mean the solo one would be stronger, also akuma tends to have little health in any fightan and K groove gives you damage boots when charged, that attack Haohmaru did probably is a strong one too

It's nothing like any of the games you listed. Just download a genesis emulator and samurai shodown rom. It has the base idea (even if ss2 was the game that mastered and made a high mark in technical game design that still holds up today and bests SF2)

When compared to SSVS, 2 is more simpler. 2 still had high damage but you had access to 3 slashes and 3 kicks instead of just 3 slashes and 1 kick in 5s. You also had SF2 style throws.
Seeing the gameplay footage of SS7,it seems to have mechanics closer to 5s but sans Neverland mechanics. You still have balance breaker throws and Issen but you need rage burst for instead of neverland for it, like it was in IV

Old SS used to have a lot of slow down (not hitstop) when you hit an opponent with certain moves. I think in some cases it was just the hardware struggling to keep the game running smoothly and not visual flair to make it look more intense.

Strong slashes do a lot of damages but the other normals are usually pretty low damage, even if we ignore 5sp and it's stamina gauge.

Seeing crazy parry shit happens more often in 3rd strike than one hit kills in SS. Parrying an entire super is something that can happen with the entire cast, one-hit killing in SS is only relegated to very specific matchups under very specific circumstances.
Things I already hate:
1. they prioritized yoshitora's over-the-moon ass over seiger for -any- reason.
2. charlotte's iconic costume is either an alt or not present.
3. GALFORD HAS HANZO'S STANCE.
4. Haohmaru's stance makes him look like an arbitrarily cranky hunch-backed lout.
5. Animal support partners don't sound off on cue. For example, "Arigato, Mamahaha!" should be followed by Mamahaha responding with an affirming caw, but the lack of the bird making any sound just makes Mamahah seem as if the bird has no responding personality... and that's far from the case with either of the characters with partners. except for rere. we don't talk about rera. least of all, not on Yea Forums.

Oh man I fucking wish. I love The Last Blade and she's my main. I know the chances of us ever getting another one are basically zilch, so having the cast as guest characters would be amazing.
But you often do see big damage in SamSho when a character is in rage, however you don't often see someone parry a whole super with a pixel of health left and then combo into their own. Almost like both clips aren't the norm and getting all upset about it is really dumb.
But one can happen at any match, while high damage and 1-hit kills are certainly not the same. Otherwise we don't have to be as specific as "not just some cool ass parrying but also while you have only a magic pixel of life left and against a full super"
I noticed there are a lot of sounds missing, they'll probably add them in the full game, remember the thing they showed was a demo

The other post already explained quite well why that's a way better example of the skill ceiling and potential of the game. It's something that can happen universally for every character as long as the player is good enough at parrying.

Parring and entire super is still more frequent than one hit kills in SS, and you have some very good reads and comebacks after parries in 3ds often. That evo moment is something that represents the skill ceiling of what makes 3rd strike unique, a 1hit kill in Samurai Shodown is something that's not only very specific for a few matches but doesn't represent the skill ceiling so it's a terrible comparison.

KoF has it's own continuity. In AoF and FF's continuity Geese Howard is dead but in SNK he appears often.
KoF has it's own timeframe, AoF happened years before FF and Geese is dead in the "original" timeline, but the character that ties LB and AoF together is Eiji and he appeared in KoF too

AoF/FF are separate universes in that universe Geese and Krauser are dead and in the ground and the AoF characters are about a decade older than the FF characters. Savage Reign and Kizuna encounter are also in the same universe, but further off into the future. KoF is it's own thing. Initially one of the reasons it was made was so that Terry and Ryo could fight each other without having to worry about age differences. Then they just decided to throw in characters from other games, like the Ikaris and team Psycho soldier, as a celebration to of their older games. Throw in a fresh new OC donut steel known as Kyo Kusanagi and KoF was born going on to later on become it's own thing where the aforementioned villains are still alive and kicking.

That's more inline with a Touch of Death combo than a 1 hit kill. 4, 5sp and the newest handle damage very differently for the most part so that's like saying a ToD in ST is a good representation of how the SF series plays like in general. For every match in old SS that ends in a second you have a dozen of matches that are way slower and with lots of low damage pokes, a lot in SS1 and 2 even end in time overs.

Not really, that a webm that actually shows how these games tend to play can have the slow and methodical moments, the high damage or both while still being more accurate than that webm at showing how this game works. How many times between rounds and matches did you remember seeing kuroko celebrate you getting a high score for fastest round? It was programmed To do that because THAT WAS THE POINT, TO ACCENTUATE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN WIN IN LITERAL SECONDS WITH VERY FEW ATTACKS EVER LANDING WITH ALMOST NO RHYME/REASON/PLAN. and it's far more consistent with the earlier games than the later ones.

Just seeing your post but none of those are one hit kills. You have very high damage in SS when you hit with a strong slash or very specific moves but all of these are very different to a one hit kill. Even in older SS you needed to nail more than one move if the match ended quickly.

You have matches that last for very long or end in time outs quite often, even more often I'd say than the matches that end in seconds. The game is designed to have high as fuck damage but this also means the players are going to be way more careful because of this.

I'm not basing it on only that poster. There's also another one saying that it's like Bushido Blade in 3d. It's safe to assume there are more who think this is a game in where you die by a couple of hits instead of a slower paced one in which there is high damage but also a lot of moments in which only low damaging pokes will hit the opponent for multiple seconds.

The Issen game seems to be tied to the Rage Explosion, unlike that from VSP which runs on a different meter that was convertible from your rage bar.

Samsho has had too many different control schemes throughout the games.
A person who dislikes high damage might end up liking the game because big damage isn't always frequent and you have a lot of ways to evade and parry offensive approaches. You can't really simplify different types of players that much unless the player actually sees more of the game.

In V Sp at least, you could only do Issen from State of Nothingness (the time slow) the rage explosion gave you access to the instant kill. Both the State of Nothingness and rage explosion erase your meter when used, so you can never use both in the same match.
mind you, high damage in general in SS is regardless of supers.
In SS1, Haohmaru's heavy slash and Hanzo's izuna drop were pure insanity.. and most people's heavy slash in general is terrifying.

Both are similar, but 3's ABC is to charge your rage bar, while in 4, it's Rage Explosion.

You can't really tell if they'll like it or not. As I said you're simplifying something that's extremely volatile too much and any type of player could make any conclusion if we see the subject with such a narrow view.

I meant the new cinematic one. To avoid confusion, let's just parse all the other special moves they have.
First is the WFT, or what's most commonly referred to as the super. Uses Rage and you can use it so long as you're in Rage or when it hits.
Then there's the Issen. Usable in Rage Explosion, deals massive damage in one strike. Not sure how the damage scales. Either depends on your missing health or how much Rage you have.
And then there's the flashy cinematic thing that they do which doesn't seem to be tied to any meter. Can only be used once like Issen, HOWEVER, you don't have to be in Rage when you do it. This is probably their replacement to Zetsumei Ougi or their fatalities.

Hell, look at at around the 0:00:26 mark and look at how two Genjuro Hard Slashes decimate Jubei's life bar.
In 5sp the buttons are two slashes, a kick, and a movement button for rolls/hops etc. Heavy slashes were a two button input like in 2.

What, because it was recently re-released? That's still a later game, though and it plays like wiping your ass with sandpaper just to accept the compromises needed when the franchise adopted even more ideas that were antithetical to the precedents set by 1 and 2. All the later games have safer options that faggots can hide behind to take less risks... which is probably why the one user keeps obsessing over one-hits being a rarity when I specified plain as day that three or two hits to end it in a short span of time were a common threat in earlier games and that later games scaled it all to hell.
