Starbound never should have happened.
Claim to fame was drawing laughable sprite art for Terraria

I feel ashamed that the dynamic lighting was one of the selling points for me. I wish i'd refunded this back when I had a chance.
bump
as OP, it was for me too
i was sold with the water physics vid and the ost.
Update WHEN?
Red you fucking hack, where's Terraria 2?
>Thorium dead
>Calamity worse than ever
>1.3.6 never
>Otherworld NEVER EVER
Terraria's in a right state right now lads
Least iit's still a good game as it is I guess
after terraria 1.3.6
Didn't thorium got an update recently?
Its last update was last year.
What's up with calamity? Still the same shitty oneshotting bosses?
It's just gotten more and more worthless feature bloat with each update
The pre-hardmode and early hardmode bosses/enemies and revengeance mode remain to this game the only completely positive additions it adds, and how long ago were they introduced?
I wish starbound was at least somewhat enjoyable. Terraria is one of my top 3 games and starbound was like another spore, but I want something decent to pass the time.
remember when you needed to collect 200 stars for max mana
As fucked as Starbound is, with mods it's pretty fucking cozy. I don't really see why both games can't exist. They offer pretty different experiences at this point. Albeit, when Starbound essentially was a terraria clone it was worse in most ways.
Just know Starbound has its market. I enjoy it a lot more than terraria despite terraria clearly having more content. It just plays better to me.
Fargo's got an update recently which included a lot of Thorium stuff.
I like it a lot, wish it was on switch, never use my craptop
I enjoyed Starbound for a bit but updates somehow made the game worse and worse, besides maybe the ship upgrades. Now every race plays the same story and the dungeons and what not are just linear levels that, once you beat one, you've seen it all.
heh
>tfw Terraria Otherworld was cancelled
>tfw Terraria 2 will never come out
>tfw Terraria 1 doesn't get any worthwhile development anymore
Fuck Red.
Terraria Otherworld was gonna be Starbound 2
again, starbound was never on kickstarter you stupid retard. Always you fucking dipshits keep spouting this
Starbound is fun with fracken universe desu
You mean build a wood platform across the sky 2000 blocks long and run across it at night? Yeah.
I sold a TF2 hat for a Starbound key.
Honestly, I kind of wish I kept the hat.
This, cancelling Otherworld was a huge mistake. Sure the devs might've been inept fucks, but the core design was excellent.
>despite being a sprite artist, Starbound's characters somehow look worse than Terraria's
That's a lie. And let's face it, lighting is very good in SB. Shame about how SB turned out. But that's what you get from "all >artists no coders" team.
>tfw 600 hours in starbound
>check their site
>nothing since trannycord """""""""""update""""""""""""
It's unstable, laggy, almost no content. Yet here I am, just building my fancy bunker.
>magma ocean planet
>make a shaft to the bottom and start building
>dig a bit deeper
>a fucking icy biome
One of the main reasons starbound is absolute garbage is how retarded planet generation is. There is literally no point in digging deep because all the good shit is on the surface and one can get to it with no effort. And throwable gnomes aren't worth it.
Waste of resources desu. A tower defense game? who wants that? better to spend that time developing Terraria 2
>not just torrenting starbound after buying terraria
Nice story-based "sandbox" meme game
Take a screenshot? I backed this forever ago and never dived in like I did with terraria, would loved to see something planned and fleshed out in game.
Terraria in space? How could I resist. Thankfully I learned my lesson on backing shit and it only cost me $15 instead of more.
It's not like 50% of the latest Terraria content wasn't tower/wave defense. All the seasonal events are basically that, the celestial pillars as well, and the Dungeon Defenders crossover even has summonable turrets.
At least Otherworld offered RPG mechanics, looked better, and focused on the wave defending as a core mechanic (meaning it would probably be more fleshed out and integrated into the rest of the game).
Maybe it should have. I think it forced Terraria to do some more updates, and I still wish we'd get some way to plant 2x2 or 3x3 blocks at once.
>ost
Did they ever actually put it into the game? I remember playing through the 1.0 update and there was still a carpel tunnel's worth of unused songs. Which is a real shame.
They set up a page that looked a lot like a kickstarter page and it was pretty intentional.
the human sprites have no soul in starbound, pleb
terraria SHITS on them
Terraria’s sprites are literally classic FF sprites user
Still love it tho
I just started playing Terarria again, seriously perhaps for the first time, on expert. Getting two shotted by basic bitch zombies or ganked by fast enemies that come out of the ground wasn't quite what I had it mind, but I'm sure when I get better gear the consistant challenge will be appreciated.
I just want to build a small adventuring town and relax while killing monsters and exploring. Asshole Helper NPC moved into my first building, a Blacksmith store I was hoping an actual store NPC would use. Any way to kill him or get him to move into a cuckshed?
You can designate rooms for npcs. Just click on the house icon right on top of your equipment slots iirc
Great, thanks user. That's a big help. I'll build him a wooden shack or something. Mining is still too slow at the moment to waste stone or bricks on him or even myself. I need a foundation for an econemy and traders, who I'm hoping I'll be able to sell excess gear/potions to for resources to reduce busywork.
The Guide is nice to have in your own house since he has all the crafting recipes, imo
you can turn dirt into mud if you're in some water, and then spend 1 mud and 1 stone to get a mudstone brick instead of 2 stone for a gray brick
>kickstarter bux
How did this misconception get widespread? Chucklefuck didn't have a Kickstarter, they instead had pre-orders backed with the storefront handled by Humble Bundle, along with a milestone system which was how we got the Novakids and some shitty tiering for forumwhores. Still doesn't change that Starbound is hot garbage, though.
mandela effect
either way cuckn'fuck games was accepting money for thin promises and a lighting system
