This man single handedly saved videogames
DMC
dante finally has a happy family!
Decent so far. Man I really hope those overwach guys make some good stuff. Lady deserves it she's so fucking hot in this game
Where's the joke
Rika is the sexiest.
>5 Nero
>3 Vergil
>1 Dante
why tho
How do I get better at style switching. I'm able to do and style well with all of the styles but I can never get it into my head to ever mix it up between them. I feel like I can either focus on switching weapons, switching guns, or royal guarding and not all at the same time.
Itsuno looks like he just ate the fruit.
I feel like the Vergil fight is the best place in the game to practice. He's punishing but also makes his attacks incredibly obvious and you have the ability to really use your entire arsenal against him.
3 Vergil is Kino design.
Force yourself to switch styles and weapons even if it's sub optimal. Switching will gradually feel more natural and you'll begin to see which situations you should use each style in as you use them more.
Two threads again reee
Reminder to read DMC1 novel, DMC3 manga, and DMC5 prequel novel.
>two threads
So? This isn't /vg/ and this isn't a general.
It's bothersome.
I'm not good and still learning but I've been using Styles for just one or two of their utilities and getting away with S ranks on most missions.
I mainly use Trickster to approach enemies or avoid attacks I'm not sure how to Royal Guard yet. Once I'm close I'll switch to swordmaster for combos and maybe mix in one or two Gunslinger attacks with E&I and/or the shotgun while in the air. If the enemy is telegraphing an attack or I can see an enemy around me preparing an attack I'll switch to Royalguard but keep attacking until I can Royal Block. As for weapons I'm mainly cycling around them during all of this and seeing what works. I'm by far the worst with Faust and Kalina though.
Then go to /vg/.
>"Lady never did this!"
>Dante took both of Lady's Kalina Anns to Hell and they're having more fun with him
Why must Lady suffer like this?
you cannot argue this
No u
I've found my self using Trickster way less in 5 than I did in other games. Maybe it's because Royal Guard just clicked with me now, but I always find myself just using that instead.
Why does Vergil act so vulgar when he isn't weighed down by his desire for power? That or like a fruit cake.
>fighting demons has to be made sexual
>"I'll be gentle."
>corset
>crimson cloud sounds like stripper's theme song
>that dramatic snap
>that dance taunt
I didn't mention the poetry. Literally why is he like this? In S4 he wraps up in a cloak like he wants to be invisible. In dmc3 he's so reserved he has no personality. So this is completely new characterization. No wonder Dante would recognize Urizen as his brother and not V.
>my brother isn't a homoerotic twink, he thinks he's a power hungry mega chad
Are you guys going to be weirded out when Vergil starts acting like V?
Give yourself a little break from hardcore weapon switching to focus on style switching, using trickster's Air Trick should be as natural as breathing for your Dante, like Nero's snatch, so start by focusing on teleporting to nearby dudes, switching to swordmaster for whatever aerial attack you want and possibly try to mix a good aerial gunslinger move like E&I's or Kalina Ann's
go cry
Lady's arc is incredibly powerful throughout 3. So much so that it weaves itself through the brothers' conflicts and lends context to them, while ushering forward. She's fixated on a singular goal, but her resolve isn't absolutely without pain. Killing Arkham doesn't provide catharsis--at least, not on its own. It also brings in a lot of pain to twine with that relief. Here's something that bothers me about the games that follow 3: We're told that Lady's a wreck, she drinks herself silly when she isn't out there wrecking demons (which is the only thing she knows how to do,) which we can clearly attribute to the events of 3 and the impact that her taking her father's life has on her. But we're not shown that, and it hurts the narrative a bit. 5 is great, but it's high-octane crazy, and you never get the chance to really sit with an emotional scene before going on to the next mission like you might in 3. 3 has you witness the brothers descending into the Underworld. Arkham falls from grave heights, and his feeble, battered body is still crawling. We see this, then we're shown that the brothers truly can't reconcile, and all of the arcs in the game reach a narrative head with the respect they deserve. You get a chance to catch your breath, and then it's time to go fight Vergil for the final time. At the end, Vergil plummets further below, beaten in more ways than one. Back on high, Dante dwells on it. Lady finds camaraderie with the demon, and together they shake loose just enough to bond further over slaying other devils. If you clear 100, you get to see Vergil cling on to his ego despite being in a similar state as Arkham (albeit, a tad stronger and worse yet, with no-one to stop him.) He goes after Mundus, and it ties well into DMC1. The point being, 3 has some low moments but the emotional spectrum the game weaves its narrative on is given the respect it deserves to be taken a bit more seriously. These are some of the heights people refer to in 3. 5 is still great.
>demon vergil was the nice guy all along
What, comfy hours are over already?
Story in 4 and 5 is shit, just pretend it's not there.
You have to think of every ability individually instead of mentally grouping them together by their weapon or style. Think of weapon and style changing as just obstacles to get to a specific move. This admittedly is a bit demanding mentally because you have to keep pretty much every attack that Dante has in mind at all times. Like instead of thinking "I want to switch to Cerberus now", think "I want to use Revolver now which first requires me to switch to Cerberus", then follow up with something like "Alright now I want to use High Times which means that I have to switch to Rebellion and Swordmaster, which I'll then follow up with Honeycomb Fire which means that I'll have to switch to E&I and Gunslinger".
I don't think so, the threads today are pretty comfy. Fujos are containing themselves
I FINALLY GOT AN S ON M10 DMD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Why do you think Dante bullied him so much when he was younger?
I don't think 5's story is shit. I do think it's less than it could've been, though. This is the side-effect of Itsuno going max CUHRAYZEE. 3 feels like a successor to 1 (from a development standpoint) and synergizes well with the original title. 5 is just high-octane fun but it doesn't really go in with moments of impact. It puts one foot in, at times (Vergil's arc, which is the highlight of 5,) but has another foot out ready to pivot. I wish they had given 5's story the respect it deserved and told it honestly.
Because he was a little shit
>Beryl dreams, remembering how the Beastheads corrupted her father. She awakens in a cave with Dante. Dante investigates and discovers they are in a parallel world where Mundus captured Dante as a child and Dante's brother Vergil led Mundus' lieutenants against him. Dante agrees to fight Mundus a second time. The village housing the rebel demons is attacked by an army, all of whom resemble Trish.
>Mundus' former lieutenants, Griffon, Phantom, Shadow, Frost, and Blade, give their lives to aid Dante in killing Trish, an action he regrets. Griffon leads Dante to Mundus' castle. Dante and Beryl enter and Dante defeats Mundus a second time while Beryl watches.
What the fuck am I reading.
I will bully every dmc character
each fucking one
>young anakin skywalker bullies eli from mgsv
How's Hell, Mundus? Not bored yet?
DMC will never hit the highs of 3 ever again.
The people who say that 5 is on the same level of 3 are fucking hilarious. These people think that plot = story and will argue that the story in 3 is just Dante goes up a tower, fights Vergil, goes down the tower, fights Vergil, goes back up the tower, goes into the demon world, and fights Vergil. There's no appreciation for the crafting of a legitimately good story where you have not one, but two foils for the protagonist with a superbly strong supporting cast.
Lady's story about feeling obligation to stop her father, because he's her family and he's caused so much suffering, runs countercurrent to Dante's apathy given his father's legacy. By the end of the story, Lady severs all ties with her father's monstrous legacy by killing him and even rejecting the name she gave him. Dante has fully embraced Sparda's legacy by embracing his demonic heritage and pledging to hunt down demons, protecting the human world.
And then you get the Dante/Vergil dynamic where you get to see the two approaches the brothers have taken to Sparda's legacy. Dante goes so far to reject that he even has a father and does everything in his power to deny his demonic power, while Vergil is obsessed with it and is doing everything he can to become a full demon to emulate their father. Vergil is the villain because he denies his humanity and never realizes how destructive the pursuit of power is. Dante ends up being the good guy, and victorious, because he finds a good balance: His demonic strength tempered by his humanity.
It's a great story with lots of well-paced dramatic ups and downs. Not to mention that Arkham gives a fucking great performance throughout the game. People who think 5 is on the same level are plebs of the highest order.
Exactly, vergil was a huge nerd so he's an easy target.
dmc5 tops 3 in terms of actual gameplay, 3 had some dismal low points in that respect
3 is easily the best the story has been though
3 is Itsuno's homage to Kamiya's work. It's a prequel after all so it needs to fit perfectly into the story and setting.
5 is Itsuno getting inspired by DmC and polishing DMC4's mechanics into new levels of crazy.
All the people who made 3's story, levels, music and even designs left Capcom years ago.
I love 5's gameplay but I can't really say the same for other aspects of the game, including most of the music but people have been waiting so long for a DMC5 that they're completely blind to these flaws and will pretend they don't exist just because the gameplay is great.
That's not to say 5 is bad game, it's just not what fans of 1 and 3 expected. Bloody Palace and more characters will hopefully help the game a bit more in this regard since gameplay is the number one thing that people care about in these games.
DMC3 is still my favourite overall game and will always have place in my heart but I can't deny I had some fun with 5's polished gameplay.
For sure. That post is entirely about story. 5's gameplay blows 3 out of the water for the most part.
The only thing I'd give to 3 is that it attempts to have neat setpieces for combat to disguise that the game isn't just a series of red barrier rooms connected to each other. They're hit or miss, but there is an attempt and the game doesn't feel as stale throughout as a result.
This is why I follow Star Trek rule with V. He's Vergil's split personality with his own entity.
dmc 2 novel sucks ass man
Do you think Itsuno’s seen this pic?
I hope he does
>he plays Devil May Cry for the story
>He's Vergil's split personality with his own entity.
Except he isn't. He's Vergil.
I've found the summary and a full text, now I'm not so sure I want to read it. The first one was great though.
REMAKE DMC1 & 3 and have baby Nero make a cameo!
Pretty much. I love 5, don't get me wrong. It's great to play and fun to watch cutscenes. But I feel like it was too afraid to have an actually emotional story unfold. I kind of get it. I imagine they wanted to tell a story that was just brief enough to get the player back to playing again. But they lost something in that. 5's gameplay is fantastic (debatedly unparalleled,) but the best we get in narrative is V(ergil's) arc. V is Vergil's humanity, weak and tormented by his experiences and his other half's actions. He's flighty and calculating, and talking to Trish makes him change that methodology a bit to where he wants to take things into his own hands (see it through.) He gets directly into the middle of it, even narrowly getting into it with Malphas (who he outright avoids at first.) Later, rather than have Urizen killed, he returns to him, giving Vergil a chance at redemption. V's journey also lends context for Vergil's motivations (which we knew before, but only in a broad sense.) This is all fine and dandy...but V joining with Urizen looks downright villainous because he wasn't given two or three more cutscenes in favor of just action. We have characters talking as they traverse levels, which lends some weight to the agency of characters (Nero, having been called deadweight, mentions that he can't protect anything without power, which alludes to why the statement bugs him so much in the first place) but I would have preferred more traditional storytelling. 5 had so much narrative potential, but going full CUHRAYZEE extended itself to the plot which is a damn shame.
I feel you. I'm enjoying 5 immensely. Mechanically it feels incredible. Some music choices are iffy to me but I enjoy the soundtrack and direction overall. But man, 1 is my favorite game (followed by 3, it's close enough to where it's like being ambidextrous with a mild preference of hand) and it feels like I've never gotten a proper sequel for it. Ah well.
It's not as good as the first novel just a warning if you want to read it. It's pretty much a prequel to dmc 2 that sets up the game.
Wow! Vergil is so daddy! I love him!
The one needing remaking the most is 2.
> Thrown out as the unneeded portion of Vergil
that right there proves my point.
Considering DMC2, that isn't the best advertising. Oh well, I'll try it.
Tip that I learned. You can keep enemies from flying away from your streak as Nero by using your buster mid animation attack right at the end. The punch will keep them close so you can use streak as a gap closer and still continue your combo.
Switchers are ruining the fun and happiness around this game, with their constant spam (about Bayo) and death threats.
I hope you Switchers all get rounded up and shot in the head. Y'all worse than Xbox and PS fans combined.
>Vergil uses the yamato to split himself
>all of who he is actually goes into V
>Urizen is just a power mad shell
>no memories besides hate and a desire to kill Dante and become more powerful
>Vergil has to watch his ambitions manifested into it's own form
>Dante suppressed Urizen
>Vergil gains his demon power so he can survive
>V is Vergil
NO VERGIL DON'T
Alright, lol have fun.
I honestly don't understand why so many people want what would be the worst version of the game? Like for indie games with minimal graphics I get but DMC 5 would have to take massive visual downgrades or FPS drops to run on switch. Do people like pseudo portability that much?
Let's have some fun
>favorite art
>favorite weapons/guns
>favorite characters
>favorite bosses
>favorite song
Anyone have a picture of that magazine in Nico's van showing Dante, Nero, and V fused into one character?
How many times do you need to be called retarded before you get it? Your zoomer bf isn't coming back.
Who's he texting?
>Swordmaster/Royal Guard
>Balrog
>Dante
>Vergil
>Crimson Cloud
Doesn't this happen frequently with split personality characters?
I swear Kingdom hearts which has a rather large fanbase constantly demand it eventually decided to revive all the split personality fragments somehow.
Any tips other than no damage.
By art do you mean move, style or something else like game artsytle, or literally just favourite piece of DMC art?
You think Vergil ever learned to drive?
just DMC art in general
No. But Nero would teach him.
what she said
V is Vergil, a side of Vergil he never allowed to show. V is what Vergil would've been like if he didn't have motivation and a lust for power.
He said it himself, all he wanted was to be loved and protected. But no one protected him that day, and no one loved him ever since. So he buried any inkling of V behind his cold harsh outer shell.
It was neat we got to see his softer human side, but that's all it was, one side of Vergil.
Don't feel sad we may never get to see V again, he is and has always been there, he's just hidden behind a power-hungry, motivated man.
v isn't coming back you fucks? let it go
hes dead you'll have to get off to fanart
You can't really split him back up if you want another urizen again.
motherfucker that's not how consciousness work. A person is made up of their id+super ego = ego.
Urizen have Vergil's memories, he just won't admit and don't care about it.
V is not just Vergil without powers, he has his own thoughts and consciousness, in the prequel novel he reminds how he's not prideful like Vergil would be and he genuinely felt remorse and try to stop the Qlipoth alone while waiting for Nero to comeback. The ending is just Vergil's powerlust overtaking him.
Nope, I give up, it's almost like a trash-tier fanfiction. Jesus christ, why.
Go suck a cock
Urizen had no reason to lie and nothing about super ego was used in this split and can't apply. It was his demon half and his humanity that split. His humanity contained his soul. It was Vergil. The demon side kept nothing but his motivation to gain power. It was basically soulless.
you sound nice...
>>"Lady never did this!"
What did I miss?
Humanity left by the wayside = birth of a different entity. V literally said to Trish "story of my birth"
why are you so illiterate.
Dual Kalina Ann. 'Hidden' weapon in DMC5.
gigalaser with GS lv 4 and DKA. Dante says either "Lady never did this!" or "wew, don't try that at home, kids"
>Nero tries to teach the basics
>Vergil would complain that he doesn't need seat belts, that he can fly faster, teleport and use other demon powers while sulking on the seat
>Nero would just threaten that he won't drive him to his favorite bakery anymore if he keeps sperging, and Kyrie won't make chocolate cake either
V shouldn't be brought back but probably will due to being a favorite now
gotta cash in on the thirst
i dont understand your reasoning, Vergil split himself into 2 leaving behind Urizen (power hungry side) and V (actually normal side), once they combined together in mission 17 outcame Vergil
how fucking hard is this for you to understand, did you not even play the game
I bet you they'll write it like how Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare came into existence where they were left over memories of Vergil's time as Nelo Angelo. It'll be memories of V from Vergil or other characters.
>cleave demon from human
Vergil's humanity was split from his demonic side.
You should learn to read the full paragraph mother fucker
I'm not even crazy for V but i don't see how peopel don't think he cant' be some bonus character not related to the story. Even fucking DMC2 Has trish as a playable character. And she doesn't have anything to do with the plot period
I want to like this series but its just way too cringeworthy for me, kinda like MGS
I just dont "get it" I guess but I really dont understand the appeal at all
I want to understand why its so loved can someone redpill me on it
hot men and cheesey jokes
Keep dreaming fujos.
>too cringeworthy for me, kinda like MGS
You're a normalfag that doesn't understand campy, cheesy humor. That's probably the extent of it. Maybe you'd like the gameplay of it, but people like you seem like you're the 'no fun allowed' type who can't just get the stick out of your ass and enjoy something.
People that have the looks of alpha male jocks but are actually super spergaiyan 3
GRIFFON SAYS THE N WORD
I'm not a fujo I just know that sex sells
This is Dante's wife, whether he wants it or not, say something nice about her !
You either embrace the cheesiness or cringe at them, I guess. Different stokes and all that.
So does Vergil absorb V or some shit?
(cont.) and if you wanna know why it's so well liked, it's because of that, and the combat. There's a lot more you can do, it's all about player expression, and there's plenty of difficulties to run through.
It's not what I'm wishing for, it's what I'm expecting. I kinda just want someone else to take his gameplay style and improve upon it, or for him to be a bonus character in the future.
I warned ya. Anything related to 2 is garbage.
How's the twins?
lame ass hoe
I'd think Vergil would enjoy it. Staying in the lanes. Obeying signals. In chaos, humans show courtesy and restraint. It's also rather therapeutic.
In reality, it's because Dante would never have the patience to pass a driving test and Vergil wants to rub it in
don't gotta get all defensive there not everyone has the same humor as you
maybe you should get the stick out of your ass before snapping at someone
with their powers combined
do you even understand what you wrote? Split into two, not Vergil abandoning his powers. His demonic side is more than just power. I'm not sure how I'm the one who didn't play the game.
V acts different BECAUSE he's not his complete self of Vergil, therefore he follows the split personality rule, except he literally gets his own physical form. V is not Vergil acting weak because he doesn't have his powers, it's because due to the lack of his demonic side, pride, arrogants, and lack of empathy and such, V is his own person. He was prepared to get rid of Urizen at the beginning.
V absorbed Urizen and returned back to his normal self. V was always Vergil. He just called himself V as an alias and so he could tell Dante Urizen was Vergil so Dante would do everything to stop him.
Bless Itsuno for this image
Not getting defensive, just telling you what is very likely the case as to why you can't get into something you cringe at. What games do you like, user?
You have strong sorcerous potential.
Please try to learn more about it.
If you have a child with one of the Sparda's (doubtful) actually teach them some of your powers unlike Kamiya's Eva who somehow taught nothing about her magic to her sons.
As soon as Dante gets back, she's gonna jump his bones and there won't be any TRICKSTER-ing out of this
>just realized V's ex color is green because Gilver wore green
Wew lad. By the way, what's the official take on Gilver so far? I'm not talking about fan theories "he was a clone made by mundus" here, but the statements from devs.
Not that user but V is another person. He has Vergil's sentiments and feelings, but he accepts and makes mention of having just been born. He's an incomplete aspect of Vergil's persona, growing in a changing world. Dante dismisses V and Urizen as just being Vergil, but this isn't totally true based on presentation.
The combat is really fun and complex and the games don't take themselves too seriously. If that doesnt sound like a good time to you then you don't like video games for the right reasons.
Dude, it's not that difficult.
V is the humanity Vergil hid away while embracing his motivated demonic side.
That doesn't make V a completely separate person, he just represents a part of Vergil he refused to embrace in his lust for power.
Just like how the queer side you keep hidden away inside your mind isn't necessarily a different, 'you.' You just refuse to embrace that side of you that wants to kiss men.
If you got split in half and one of you decided to gobble cock all day you don't get to pretend that was a completely different person when you inevitably fuse back together.
Why did that rustle your jimmies so hard? Christ.
I love cheesy Nip humor, Yakuza is my fav vidya series. I just dont find MGS entertaining at all, Kojima writes like a literal 10 year old.
>I'm not talking about fan theories "he was a clone made by mundus"
It's not a fan theory. That's what the DMC5 novel said.
>V doesn't act like vergil
Are you sure you played the game?
It's fun and cool. Each game offers something different, though. If 5 doesn't appeal to you, look into 1 or 3.
Care to quote? It's time to re-read it.
I don't know, man, 'cringey' has just been the out a lot of shitters use nowadays to excuse their Fortnite addiction and their bad taste in shitty, no fun games. Either way, yeah, you'll probably enjoy it then if you like cheesy Nip humor.
>V is not Vergil acting weak because he doesn't have his powers, it's because due to the lack of his demonic side, pride, arrogants, and lack of empathy and such
this is true, but in whole you're just describing Vergil before the death of Eva which means..
>V is own person. He was prepared to get rid of Urizen at the beginning.
this is literally false, V acts as HALF of someone because he doesnt really have any of the negative emotions that were left in Urizen. V cannot be considered his own person without Urizen, his other half, which makes him into Vergil.
incase you're too fucking illiterate to understand, V = Vergil
Here's the piece I'm working on, it's gonna take a while to get done.
It's supposed to be IF Dante ever had a daughter... Thought it was a neat idea.
Hope you like it.
Cool thanks I might try it out
I saw that MJ scene from 5 and it just made me cringe into the next dimension
V isn't humanity Vergil "hid away" dumbass. If I were to take your id and your superego away and put them on display, you would be horrified how differently the act from each other and how you would. Nice try projecting though.
I'd fuck it
>I saw that MJ scene from 5 and it just made me cringe into the next dimension
Shit taste.
I don't where it is but one of summaries was talking about Mundus. It stated that Gilver was made from battle data collected from Vergil.
yea because Vergil would run away from fights. And say he wants to be loved and protected.
>that kid who judgment cuts portals to class
I already knew this
Thanks user, I see, I haven't got GS to level 4 yet cause I was only able to play at my mate's
I really don't understand people like you. How does something so goofy and silly make you cringe? Do you just hate anything that isn't serious and grim dark all the time?
3 has what 5 offers but toned down to where it's more palatable. The story is pretty engaging. There are some questionable enemies though. Play the Special Edition to get the most of it. DMC1 is atmospherically more like RE. Less enemies, better placements for them in higher difficulties. It's an old game, and while I think it's aged well, you might not. Still, it's got that patented Kamiya style to it if you're familiar, but it doesn't take off with QTE and stuff like that. I still think it has the most satisying DMD campaign in any DMC title.
Where is the dmc1 novel formatted like this at? I've only found a copy thats too ugly to look at to read.
>Lady never went ass to ass with Trish
>tfw Vergil never taunts back
V may be not his own "person" but he is his own entity.
also read again your logic
> V cannot count his own person
> but also V is Vergil despite lacking Urizen in the equation
>tfw Vergil isn't real
>making my way through SoS
>up to King Cerberus
>his health is low, so is mine, he's just gone into his ice state
>attack him but he launches that attack that rains down loads of ice needles from the ceiling
>Royal Guard it all while in the air
>the second I land I Royal Release all over his face and win the fight
>mfw
And in the end we are all satisfied
He can drive in 4SE.
wait till you finish high school before posting online thanks
He manipulated dante into beating urizen so he could transform back? thats not vergil?
When he's talking to trish he talk in first person and blames himself for what he's done.
His taunts, mannerisms and how he hates demons also reflect vergil.
You have to:
>Be Dante
>get S or higher
>wait until he's not attack
He will taunt back. It's the same taunt every time though. And he filters between 3 different sayings. Doesn't matter if it's S or SSS
that fight is a lot of fun to practice RG with.
But he is
Yeah, I see it
>Mundus sent his army to kill Sparda’s wife and sons. While they killed Eva, Dante and Vergil escaped. This unsettled Mundus as they would naturally grow up and want to take revenge.
>Mundus found Vergil first as Vergil didn’t assume a fake identity like Dante did. However, Vergil had inherited Yamato from an early age and was able to defeat the minions Mundus sent to kill him.
>Ten years after Eva’s death, Mundus found Dante assuming the identity of Tony Redgrave. Mundus sent demons to Tony and he dealt with them easily, confirming to him that it was Dante.
>Mundus decided to create a demon for the sake of revenge. Mundus created black knights using battle data from Sparda, Dante and Vergil. These knights were clad in strong black armour made by Machiavelli, a craftsman from hell. Mundus experimented with black knight prototypes, but their imperfect nature and the power limit of artificial demons meant that they were not enough to kill Dante and Vergil.
>It was around this time that Dante and Vergil began to fight. While traveling around the world, Vergil learned about Sparda’s seal and wanted that power for himself. Dante had a strong disdain for Vergil’s lust for power.
>Mundus captured Vergil and used him in his black knight experiments. This resulted in a knight so powerful that it was incomparable with the others. Mundus named this knight Nelo Angelo, but Mundus did not yet have perfect control over this knight. Mundus was able to win Vergil’s obedience by returning his amulet to him, a symbol of the power that he so desired.
>Mundus had the perfect revenge demon, but he wanted to bring Dante to the demon world rather than send Nelo Angelo to the human world. For this purpose, he created Trish. She was deliberately made in his mother’s image to take advantage of Dante’s strong affection for his mother and bring him to Mallet Island.
Still, it doesn't explain how he's got Vergil's amulet in the first place.
ESS2ESS
no that man stole his skin
doesn't count
Yeah King Cerb and Vergil are pure RG masturbation. Shit's fantastic.
V is literally his humanity you mong, the id and super ego is your headcanon. Thats' the point of V's arc, V is who Vergil is and cutting away the weak parts of himself is what made him who he is, it's a literary device not a logic one.
>V may not be his own "person" but he is his own entity.
not anymore, due to V and Urizen combining to make Vergil, also my logic works, V is Vergil but only a specific part of Vergil
V (human) + Urizen (demon) = Vergil
Royal Guard allowing for less perfect blocking at the cost of DT is a welcome addition. RG was always difficult for me to use and get the perfect timing on in 3 and 4. So allowing me to RG a bit early at the cost of DT I think was something that needed to be done. It still rewards the perfect timers by not taking DT and it still forces you to git gud since you do run out of DT
>Still, it doesn't explain how he's got Vergil's amulet in the first place.
Or how he had Yamato. Since it's all being retconned I'm just assuming the Amulet and Yamato he had were replicas.
I have to be honest, I'm halfway through DMD and I'm not enjoying it at all. I just got to Dante and got a D on mission 10. I kept dying to DT'd judeccas and furies after one or two hits and got by mostly spamming SDT. I was doing just fine getting S's and A's with Nero and V thus far with only the occasional slip-up, but I just gave up. DMD just feels like it sucks the life out of the game. It's no longer about doing cool shit and instead it's about never getting hit the moment a non-fodder enemy DT's. And from what I've heard it only gets worse.
He can't be his own person if he's part of someone elses identity.
Once absorbed the two halves of who vergil is combine to make the autism that is him.
>finish dmc5
>realise that ywn be hyped for anything like you did with dmc5 again
>yfw have nothing else to look forward to anymore
dlc and dmc 6
Where are the amulets now anyway? They aren't in Sparda in the end of 1.
now thats the vagisil i want
but irl
Where do people even get the notion that Dante knew V was Vergil? There's nothing to indicate that.
Sweet thanks
Sorry user, I can't help you more despair is real
>gaining extra DT with having it already full using RG fills your SDT gauge
is this true for any DT gains?
>this is literally the most Vergil has ever smiled
>Dante's soul is refilled with that smile
>mine too
God I'm so happy bros.
>cringing at one of the best scenes in the game
absolutely atrocious taste
it's a miracle that you even give DMC the time of day with that shit taste
he knew at the very end when it was about to happen, evidenced by him running toward V
>They aren't in Sparda in the end of 1.
But they are? Still on Sparda in 5 too. And the handle of DSD.
>Tells him Urizen is Vergil
>Know's Vergil is Dante's reason for fighting, something no one but Vergil and Lady would know
>Uses DMC1 summons
>Calls himself fucking V
Are you talking about gilver? did he have an amulet with him?
He's probably a Souls faggot.
They were in Devil Sword Sparda, so I guess Dante absorbed them. I'm sure Vergil will be thrilled when he realizes that.
Now I know why I dont get it, I'm not a raging autist who goes on full defensive when someone doesnt gush praises about their fav game.
There's a line for me. Miracle Johnson in Yakuza 0 for instance, thats funny. Its an obvious parody and it takes the joke as far as it can go and ends before it loses its effect.
With that DMC cutscene (i havent played the game so idk maybe its part of a longer running joke) it just sorta pops out of nowhere and it doesnt seem to really be apart of anything bigger, its just purely random. I can understand enjoying something for "its so bad its good" like Neil Breen movies, but i dont see anyone saying its bad they think its balls to the wall insane amazing and I just dont understand the hype.
Thanks for the legit response
I'll try it out then
Maybe I'll like the later games if I start with the less crazy ones
I feel you. The ending made me smile so much.
Sshhh, I'm stealing Kalinas
>So Dante, whats with the new blade?
>Oh, uh. I got it from uh.. absorbing Dad's sword.
>Vergil's fucking face when
>You what?
Seek mental help
You're fucking scizo
Feels good
>You did WHAT with *my* Force Edge?
Dante is the wacky woohoo pizza man, he is supposed to be over the top and goofy.
Honestly if you thought that was "cringe" then don't even bother getting into the other games.
Bayo is going to be better. Just sayin'.
Been wildly confirmed and Kamiya is GOD.
>schizo for liking a good scene
then I don't want to be sane if that means I have to be as boring as you
Nice projection, Soulsbabby.
>Kamiya is GOD
>even though he fucked up the only DMC game he's ever worked on
>Bayonetta's never even sold 3 million copies as a fucking FRANCHISE
>better
I have this. Cracks me up everytime.
Need playable lady just so I can make a ton of screenshots of her
Ok? What does that have to do with liking the endng?
>nintendo exclusive
Hell no. Talk to me about Bayo 3 when it gets a PC or at least a PS4 port
I do like Bayo's more varied arsenal. Can't wait to see if 3 has anything to top Cavaliere and Dr. Faust.
>DMC would be a QTE shitfest if Kamiya stayed in charge
Thank God for Itsuno, bros.
He either made a mistake or he is crazy.
like Bayonetta 2 did?
>even though he fucked up the only DMC game he's ever worked on
What the actual fuck did he mean by this. You are aware Kamiya is literally the creator of DMC, right?
>But they are? Still on Sparda in 5 too. And the handle of DSD.
Nope, Dante placed the amulet on Trish's "corpse", and jammed Sparda into the ground near her. And that was the last time we saw that. I'll post the screenshot next.
He did. Picrelated.
Why did he do the dance?
I love em
Having Dante and Vergil finally being able to put their differences aside and act like brothers fills my dark soul with light. Sparda would be proud.
Now I'm imagining Nero controling Dante and Vergil by simply saying "You don't need to do it, but you're better than HIM aren't you?" and "What, you're going to lose to HIM?" and somewhere in heaven Eva is giving a thumbs up.
>Maybe I'll like the later games if I start with the less crazy ones
Almost assuredly. Dante is snarky in 1 but only up to a point. There's some early 2000s cheese in the game but it's endearing. He's a callous thrill-seeker in 3. There's some gun-fu wuxia stuff in the game but it just fits. Dante's character really goes wacky in 4, though.
No but people said it's not as good as the first so idc about it
>You are aware Kamiya is literally the creator of DMC, right?
quite, yet he only made 1 of them and it was bad
Here.
TRISH WHERE'S THE FUCKING AMULET
Okay, you got me. Great bait
i just dont like 1, at all
Me too. I don't know if you saw this one but here you go.
The only QTEs Bayo 2 retained was mashing after a boss fight to get more halos
I do wish Kamiya would calm down with his Space Harrier boner in every fucking game he touches but if you're gonna criticize a game at least get it right.
Great post. 5 had a good story, certainly better than 4's, and it accomplished what it wanted to do: serve as the backdrop for a crazy-ass action game while fleshing out the universe and giving characters like Nero and Vergil development/time in the spotlight.
That being said I definitely prefer DMC3's general tone. Every character in that game has a satisfying character arc, especially Lady who no other character has even come close to in terms of development.
I believe they are criticizing some his tendencies to add things.
He originally wanted QTEs in DMC1, had to be convinced by other memebers of the team to even include a jump button and had a love for gimmick levels such as the rail shooter segment.
I'm not going to knock his overall ability but I can see where people could complain about his tendencies.
GAMERS RISE UP
Is Vergil really autistic or is it just a meme?
idc if you like it or not or even think it's bad but you can't say he fucked up when it's the first fucking game in the franchise. He created the franchise that would go on to inspire countless other action games. You can't really argue the creator of any game franchise fucked up the first game.
>had to be convinced by other memebers of the team to even include a jump button
What the fuck how would the game even work without a jump?
user...
I think 5 wasn't intending to be a satisfying conclusion. If anything it's the opposite.
RE3 style dodge mechanic.
oh, now i see your point.
yes i am retarded, i just hate 1 and everything to do with it
That dumb idiot Dante left them with Trish. She probably just left them on the island. Order of the Sword probably has them now.
I don't think either the old novel or the anime are fully canon.
It would be interesting to see if they ever readapt it.
Would be cool to see Gilver as a boss for Vergil DLC, to tie lose ends.
Just what everyone always wanted!
Probably just a dodge button in combat and more scripted context sensitive jumps like you already see in several areas
>All the people who made 3's story, levels, music and even designs left Capcom years ago.
DMC5 had the same leader writer as DMC3 and 4, Bingo Morihashi. Same with Yuji Shimomura, the cutscene director.
Kota Suzuki was the lead composer for DMC5 and he's been with the series since 4 as well.
And moar
youtu.be
It seems that the amulet simply unlocked Sparda, but that's it. I don't have a pre-mundus save in 1 to check if the Perfect Amulet is in inventory along with Sparda, unfortunately.
Kill countless innocents once, blame it on Dad.
Kill countless innocents twice, autism is the only explanation.
Order found it then mass manufactured it.
Thus why proud souls look like shattered copies of it./s
Apparently there was also a Dante clone running around.
So it would have been neat to also fight him.
I guess he'd be Nate D.
or something like that.
Well, as far as I know it was mentioned in anime, and they even bothered to explain Gilver in DMC5 novel, so who knows, really. What they DID retcon is that Vergil wasn't captured by Mundus since the murder of Eva.
Anyone is playing the SMT Dx2 x DMC5 event? I just unlocked Nero and finished the Story Mode.
>Thus why proud souls look like shattered copies of it
You can't imagine how hard it triggered my autism back in the days.
If its intentionally cheesy then thats fine
Again I dont play these games I've just seen snippets that initially turned me off
>3 is Itsuno's homage to Kamiya's work
No, it's not. 3 was Itsuno being more motivated than he's ever been to prove he's a good dev because he didn't want to be remembered for the pile of dogshit that was DMC2. He took some advice from Kamiya, mind, but 3 was not an homage to him.
After the Dante and Vergil co-op DLC. Vergil and Nero get a DLC where the try to retrieve the Amulets of the Order. They run into his mother along the way.
It's so satisfying too after all those years of build up after their last battle we finally get a really heartwarming ending with the two bros. Dante's smile at getting his brother back is wonderful.
>tfw Jack "Crimson Tomb" Pott is canon
Don't need to be a definitive conclusion to have really good character arcs.
Nero and V had the best arcs in DMC5 and their stories are still wide open.
Do they have DT's available?
Thanks, friend. 5's story is solid, yeah. Good themes that aren't brought quite as high as they could've been because the story serves as, well, you put it best: "the backdrop for a crazy-ass action game." DMC is capable of moving stories, which is a bit odd to say. I hope the next title couples godlike gameplay with storylines that aren't just a vessel for action set-pieces.
Anted? Tedan? Edant? Tenda? Denta? Tande?
>V's story is still wide open
Wut. V's whole thing was the exploration of the softer side of Vergil and it came to its conclusion when he fused with Urizen. It's as open and shut as you can get.
>finally understanding the true strength of style switching
How did I live with only Swordmaster beforehand?
>both FUCK YOUs of the series are said during the fight with Vergil
Really makes you think.
He's be called Alighieri
V's story is basically done. Nero's role of being under Dante's shadow is also done.
I dunno if the *5 versions have attacks with the Devil Triggers, but they use some move animations from the DMC games, Dante have a Phys Pierce attack, Nero an Elec Pierce one and I didn't check V because I don't like him.
Gravered Nyto
How many fucking tries did King Cerberis take without Trickster? Jesus
I never played 4 honestly so style switching was new to me but I immediately realized how fucking ridiculously strong it makes Dante compared to 3.
YYYYEAAAA
I FINALLY FUCKING BEAT DMD JESUS CHRIST VERGIL YOU FUCK I LOVE YOU FUCK THIS GAME I LOVE THIS
>Order mass produced amulet
>fed the resulting proud souls to summoned demons to keep them complacent
>being a more valuable demon currency than their fucking blood all the goddess statues in Fortuna would accept only them to improve a persons abilities, accepting orbs merely for items
you might be onto something here
>doing so well in mission DMD
>fury
what the fuck is the exceed timing for roulette spin, i never get it
Good job mate
I always found it weird that they made Vergil's amulet gold in 3.
Funnily enough I liked Vergin's amulet having a blue jewel since it reinforces the whole purple Sparda thing.
For Cerberus I literally just spammed DT for Health recovery and prayed the Cavaliere did damage. Definitely not my best play. Vergil is piss easy now that I can dodge all his shit without even relying on Trickster so that's a plus.
>mission 10
>what the fuck is the exceed timing for roulette spin
it's pic related
The only time the amulet isn't in Dante's inventory is when he gives it to Trish after the Mundus fight, same with Force Edge and Sparda
Have a taste of dis pear
>Fighting a fury as Nero
>It's a "three antenoras rush at you and then the judecca on the border of the screen takes half your health by tapping you on the shoulder from across the room" encounter
playable girls + vergil DLC when? Nude mods when?
>Nude mods when?
Already up
Is there a significant difference in Furies between SoS and DMD?
They're relatively easy for me to parry as Dante and Nero. A single color up or charged double kalina ann shot will stagger, follow up with RI for a kill or DT Buster and repeat.
I WILL GIVE YOU... DIS PEAR
Vergil ????
I always thought the amulet was in sparda sword, what's the red jewel then?
you're thinking of Shigeru Miyamoto
It's mainly Dante's characterization that bothered me in DMC5, probably the weakest part of the game's plot. Feels like Dante takes none of the events of the game seriously at all, even after Vergil's resurrection he's still just playing up the "bing bing wahoo wacky pizza man" flanderization most of the time.
I think the writers realized how much people like his cocky and arrogant DMC3 persona and decided continue with that in every subsequent games, at the expense of proper development. That brash personality worked in DMC3 because it's a prequel and Dante's supposed to be young. And it made sense transitioning from that to his more serious DMC1 personality.
Don't get me wrong, Uncle Dante is a fun character (definitely laughed my ass off during the Faust scene), but it's harder to get invested in the character when he's like that 100% of the time.
No, I will
youtube.com
Nah, they're the same. It's just DT'd enemies make a shitton of damage, so you're pretty much dead if you get stunlocked by one.
>judecca appears
>alt f4
Their best looks
A Soul Edge Reference, maybe an eye?
Maybe Sparda had a thing for red jewels.
>Feels like Dante takes none of the events of the game seriously at all, even after Vergil's resurrection he's still just playing up the "bing bing wahoo wacky pizza man" flanderization most of the time.
He felt pretty serious during the last Urizen fight and Vergil's fight. He's only uncle Dante after Nero shows up.
Did the guy who bought DmC Vergil’s the coat take pics yet? Asking because I want to order one and Dontes coat to cosplay as El Donte
Why are ladies tits so small tho
Nah
To some extent yeah, Dante's best moments are during those in-fight voice clips oddly enough.
Man, Sparda would've made a great multi-weapon in the style of the King Cerberus.
Sword form with the standard moves, hold button moves bring out the bitchin' scythe, and Sword Master brings out the spear/naginata style.
Perfect.
So what the fuck is that jewel in DSD?
To think, he's more toned down here than he was in 4. Reuben's performance is just very detached and non-chalant. Truthfully, he can't really do serious moments too well. I think that translates into how Dante is written here. To many people (including staff,) he IS Dante. That does play a part in how a character is written. I would've enjoyed seeing more vulnerability in Dante since the game spends so much time exploring Vergil's vulnerabilities (and slapping Nero in the face with his own.) Dante was cocky and arrogant in 3, but he was mostly grounded by how callous he was. In 5 he just resolves to kill Vergil right away with no real discussion or anything of the like. His characterization from 1 was tossed aside completely, and as the player I was sort of left to auto-correct for the missing character beats here with: "Well, I guess for Dante it's been-here, doing-this-again," which is valid but also poor storytelling. Dante is either calm and detached in his goofy way or bristling with a disingenuous level of anger. It kind of sucks. I liked that Lady was the one to discourage Nero from patricide, but why does it immediately come to that? Everyone just tells Nero "you can't kill your pops" as if there's no other alternative, but nobody save for Lady takes what that means seriously enough, and man, the kid just wants peace.
Not a fan of scythes myself but I can see it work out.
After the got rid of Rebellion for story reasons I think the needed to play it safe with Sparda's moves.
This pic perfectly describes the two idiots.
Imagine how quickly the plot of 5 could have ended if Nero just kept the Sephirophic fruit from 4.
Could have murdered the tree just by touching it.
IF YOU HAVE TO ASK
>After the got rid of Rebellion for story reasons
I'm still mad. It's the best Rebellion has looked since DMC2 and not only is it abandoned straight away but it's gimped to make DSD look better. I know there's a mod for it but I wish they would offer a Rebellion skin for DSD so I can use it with the benefits of DSD, can't stand that blade it's so fucking ugly.
The whole of its SM moveset could've been the scythe form like with Nevan. You could have had the changed DSD moveset to sort of bridge between the swords so it'd be less jarring once you get DSD. Instead they didn't even give it drive.
I guess they didn't want to give you a cool new moveset just to take it away.
Both pieces of the Amulet, fused together. Its also in Sparda
Good lord, you are the worst.
I just thought it was the jewel/thing in the middle of the sparda sword moved to the pommel.
AAAH ITS SO BORING
ITS TOO EARLY
I'm wiling to suspend my disbelief for Dante's wackiness in DMC4 more than 5. At least in 4 Dante's just on another job, he has no attachment to anyone in Fortuna outside of Nero at the very end.
In DMC5 he should be taking things more seriously for obvious reasons.
>Its also in Sparda
Nope
It would've been ANOTHER way for Itsuno to one-up DmC with their shitty angelic scythe bullshit.
Personally I think they shoulda kept the Rebellion whole and mainly use it as an "unlocker of hidden power", and let Dante canonically switch between his standard Rebellion moveset, summoned swords DSD, and multi-form Sparda.
>I guess they didn't want to give you a cool new moveset just to take it away.
Which is a bit silly to me, because you're highly encouraged to proceed with NG+. Sparda with a unique moveset, totally revamped moveset would've been great incentive to traipse through Dante's missions again. Granted, he has a lot of kit anyway but it's just one of those things.
But we figured out that Sparda's jewel =/= perfect amulet's jewel.
But as established a few posts ago, the amulet wasn't in Sparda.
It was still a separate thing in DMC1.
I guess a retcon might have occured?
So Dante can now also cut portals into the underworld, since the amulet is established to be the key in DMC1.
I don't remember, aren't you stuck with DSD until you beat SoS? Or can you change which sword you take?
King Cerberus on SoS got it for me. Going between trickster to stay on him, switching through Swordmaster(Aerial Rave, summoned swords, bike) and to gunslinger for rainstorm, and back through made those three really click for me. Gotta work on fitting RG in somehow.
I doubt Dante would've ever give Sparda to the Order with his precious amulet in it, fampaitachi.
You can change swords after beating the game once. But only after beating SoS can you use ALL of them at once.
Isn't Yamato needed for portals?
I think the issue isn't that Dante doesn't take things seriously. Because he does, his in-game dialog constantly tells us that. The issue in how his seriousness is portrayed. He's still just being incredibly laid-back. Where's that righteous anger he had for Mundus after Griffon died, or after he thought Trish had been killed? Where's the crying soul that withdrew and brooded over the supposed death of his brother in 3? It's stuff like that that gets to me. Going from 3 to 1, his character makes a lot of sense. But his characterization in 5, while faithful enough to his character in 4, feels totally different from 1 & 3.
didn't you have to have both amulets for that?
Is there literally any point in having both Sparda and Rebellion equipped with Irregular Full Custom? They have the exact same move pool, right?
My headcanon is that Dante can probably will the sword back into taking Rebellion's form at least.
I was originally thinking it could basically become the sword equivalent of Pandora after absorbing a few more Devil Arms, but that was already kind of Donte's gimmick with his Rebellion.
Yeah.
But Tr*sh would.
Not to mention the first time he loses to Urizen, he gets real serious and tells Nero to run. Granted him doing goofy shit in the middle of a destroyed city feels out of place, there's like millions of dead bodies around him and he's still fucking around.
I still enjoyed the story of 5, the ending felt sweet and getting your arm plus a DT back to beat the shit out of Virgil felt great.
Also is the Buster Arm just straight useless once you beat the game? Does it do more damage when charged up or anything?
I like DSD, but it is just a dumb thick anime sword with organic elements to it.
She took it with Dante's approval.
I like the idea that Vergil is actually super dumb and dense but he just covers it up extremely well with how he carries himself and with shear weeab edge
He's retarded when it comes to anything that isn't murdering shit with his folded steel
Imagine if we got an update to the photo mode that made it much deeper than it is now. THAT would be cool if we have nothing else to really expect.
>these faces
Perfection
Buster Arm does a shitload more damage than the regular, especially when charged. Charged version also doesn't need to grab certain enemies only when they're staggered.
>They add filters and a selfie mode
>makes mediocre game
>saves industry
From what I recall of the cutscene she actually didn't.
She just went ahead and disapeared with it because it was basically hers.
5's story is really good. The "problem" is that it was written as a conclusion to the story of the sons of sparda and way too many people expected a tragic story with Vergil possibly dying. The bulk of complaints I've seen about 5's story are disagreements in the direction of the story, never an actual substantive rebuttal.
People didn't even think DMC's story was all that good until "YouTube philosophers" made videos interpreting the game's events and everyone here started thinking the story was genius.
DMC5's story elements are really good too, tackling the topic of determinism and how the fates of the sons of sparda could've been reversed had their circumstances been just a bit different.
>Inb4 generic shonenshit story
The game addressed what was just manga headcanon for most of the fan base clamoring that Vergil wasn't all that bad and where his need for power came from. This has made some people mad, as there were a lot of fans who liked the fact that Vergil was irredeemable, especially back in DMC3.
Personally, I'm happy that Vergil turned good. The jackpot cutscene at the end, and seeing Vergil in the van, are better than any edgy ending anyone on here could have come up with.
Damn, Dante really doesn't want another Nephew.
Can you revert merging of devil arms? Asking for a friend.
>Can you revert merging of devil arms?
what do you mean? choosing rebellion/sparda instead of the new sword? yes.
I figure it's possible if unlikely.
I think the'll have at least one of the older sword come back.
Just be happy Dante didn't also eat Yamato as well.
I can see Dante's personality as logical if you infer he's got depression. While his heart is awake to justice, he doesn't care too much about his own well-being since he hasn't faced a worthy opponent since Mundus and so only coasts through life at the bare minimum while doing what he can to slay demons and help people.
He gets depressed from killing Vergil in 1 hence his personality in 2 and the anime, takes time to slowly recompose himself after escaping hell. He gets a little better and wisecracky to cover up the sadness when he's around close loved one.
One day, Trish throws Sparda into the hands of the Order, so he, in his stoic public persona, shows up and kicks all their asses. Then some little shit kid with a demon arm and white hair pops up, and he gains a little interest before seeing the Yamato confirm the lil shit is his nephew. Now with some light in his life, he begins to play the role of uncle and slowly genuinely unwinds.
That's my take on explaining the inconsistencies anyways.
I want to play as Vergil NOW
He better be as OP as he was in DMC4SE
I learnt it in DMC4 practicing on Berial. Constantly staying on his fat fucking head swinging, tricking to dodge stuff and then jumping on top of him and using rainstorm to dodge the bullshit fire pillars.
Also made it a reflex to switch to trickster when I get hid midair to recover
It's not in the cutscene, it's in DMC4 novel. Also, I was wrong, she did take it without a fucking permission.
>This was never once mentioned or even hinted at in the game, but the three new devil arms in DMC4 originally belonged to Dante even before the start of the story; he got them from some of his past missions. It was Trish who took them without permission along with the Sparda sword and gave them to the Order to earn their trust and let her join them in her attempt so spy on them as Gloria.
>The novel says that Dante is not one to get attached to materialistic stuff (except for those he got from his family of course) hence he rarely bothered to keep any devil arm he might have found in his missions, but sometimes when he is in need of money thanks to the amount of debts he's got (a reference to the anime) he finds it handy to keep some of them so he can sell them to a devil arm collector acquaintance (not the same guy Lady knows).
Nope. Sorry Sparda, you have to accept all your power is now inside dante. Also you need to accept your wife is dead and your children are deranged.
Lol no. Rebellion is there for nostalgia, but if you want access to your old moveset then just stick with Sparda since it does more damage on certain moves.
Unless you KNOW you can style by round-tripping Rebellion AND Sparda, then just stick with the one you like.
>4
>FOUR
>Devil arms
Jesus christ, fuck Trish.
Defend this, DMC babies.
The ending of 3 is pretty much establishing that Vergil isn't a terrible guy. He's a power hungry asshole that doesn't mind fucking up his brother, but he's not purely evil. Pretty straight forward anti-hero really.
Good to know, I've never been good at noticing the damage it does, but I'm glad it still has a place.
I fucking love how Nero plays now, he seemed a bit too simple in 4 but the new Devil Breakers give him just enough to keep him really fun.
>this evil society is trying to obtain nukes
>I'll infiltrate them by giving them some nukes so they'll trust me!
9001 IQ
I feel 5 had way stronger themes than 3 did thanks to V and Urizen. It's probably the strongest the themes of the franchise have been expressed yet. You've got V who represents humanity and sensibility and Urizen who represents power, you've got Nero somewhere in between those, and you've got Dante who only sees Urizen as Vergil.
It's similar to what 3 did with Jester and Arkham representing the polar extremes of Dante and Vergil with Lady as an outside perspective; but unlike in that game, you actually get to play as Nero, Dante and V which gives you a better sense of involvement in motives.
I imagine some people who are used to the bread and butter rebellion moveset from 3 and 4 would prefer to use that over DSD and its summoned sword stuff.
No wonder Dante wants to stay in hell. Lady and Trish are fucking leeches.
>Digging up the weeds in my yard all week
>Keep hitting branches barely 5 inches below the dirt.
>When I break them open, they've got blood colored sap and the interior wood looks like bone.
What's the password for Dante
God I can't even fucking believe Tr*sh fans even exist
when he says "Devil May Cry" you gotta respond with "is a rockin', don't come a knocking baby YEAH"
truly Shakespearean writing
They get out of hell and the first thing Vergil does is kick them to the curb.
By the way guys, if you're missing any purple orb fragments, you're probably gonna find one in Diverging Point: V. There's one hidden in the section where you have to destroy the blood clots. There's also a secret mission hidden in that section, too.
V proves Vergil is a repressed slut. When he gets out of hell, he's going to have some interesting outfit changes.
IT HAS BEGUN
Devils never cry.
>"Dante, i think vergil left some demon root in my garden. I will give you 2 pizzas for you to clear it up"
Guys, dmc5 is a blatant ripoff of mgr.
Use Royal Guard at some point in every battle
Twosome time and rainstorm are great for building up your style meter quickly since they don't do much damage but have a lot of hits
>That's a pretty nice SSS rank you've got there, it'd be a shame if something...unfortunate happened to it
Even knowing it was in there that purple orb was hard as hell to find.
A genius plan, Trish.
>Eva makes Sparda's sword get bigger
Kamiya why
Say jackpot and he'll be there in a second.
"Sorry. Too boring."
Trish is undoubtedly a leeching cunt. But lady at least has some justification for taking most of the share in a job.
>is human meaning shes most at risk
>also means she has basic needs that dante doesn't like food, sleep etc
>he technically stole her revenge kill against powered up arkham
>broke her bike
>keeps stealing her rocket launcher
>also a homeless orphan that helped rebuild his business/home after vergils demons fucked it up
I'd still tell her to fuck off and be neros side kick at a certain point though.
I'd let her open my hell gates, if you know what I mean.
Before I do.... Anything to the picture.
I'll just put what I drew so far and then I'm gonna get back to it.
who'd win?
Legitly the worst enemy in the franchise.
Imagine the things Dante would do for that much money up front...
Once the dorks of sparda come back, Vergil is giving them crazy bitches the boot and he's absolutely gonna take all the fucking jobs and do them perfectly just to compete with Nero
Get gud
Also Lady, in the anime, claimed she gives him loans now and then if he's desperate. She just bugs him to pay her back (which he never does) so if they do a job together she always gives him less. But it's justified at least.
>git gud
If it weren't for Devil Trigger or SDT they'd stand a chance really. Dante and Vergil go full on anime power levels in this game.
She never had huge badonkadonks, even in 4 they weren't humongous or anything
Was it explained in the novel where V got the money to pay Morrison?
>implying Vergil won't open his own agency Devil Shall Cry across the street
LITERALLY USE THE TRICKSTER MOVE THAT TELEPORTS YOU ON TOP OF HIM
Morrison and V leave the bar and talk outside. He asks V if he has any money. While Dante will take jobs regarding demons even with no payment, having money would be beneficial as business hasn’t been booming. In response, V casually hands him dozens of paper bills. Some of the bills appear to have blood stains on them.
Morrison hears a groan behind him. He turns around and sees a man lying in an alleyway surrounded by blood. It appears that he has been attacked by a large bird.
V stretches out his right arm and the bird rests on it. Morrison asks V if that’s his bird, and the bird itself replies that he’s his own bird. Morrison notices that this isn’t like a parrot repeating speech, the bird appears to be able to talk on its own.
The bird jokes with Morrison that money is money, but if he’s a clean-freak then they’ll go to the bank and swap them for cleaner notes.
V tells Morrison that if he’s dissatisfied with the amount, they can collect more. Morrison has a feeling that more people would need to be hurt to get the money, so he says this amount is fine. After all, it’s enough to help his friend living in poverty.
Morrison, V and Griffon make their way to Dante’s office, but Morrison has two or three places to go first.
Vergil will never do that. He'll just fix up the dmc into a respectable buisness and constantly annoy Dante until he considering running away But never does because he's actually filled with light
Oh... My bad, I meant learn how to play.
Vergil took his arm remember?
How viable is Faust cheesing? Will I run out of orbs fast or will hatting everything help?
A bit of both.
This is fan fiction right?
No, it's legit.
lightning revolver gives them a special knockdown that they can't teleport out of, you've got more than enough time to do whatever the hell you want to them
I bet that's how Vergil got around looking for Sparda too. If he needed money, he just mugged people because "lol humans". God what a dick.
>visits Nero
>sees his dad trying to smug someone
>wtf dad
>"I thought you said you needed money to buy dinner for the children."
jesus christ
Its pretty much a fuck it I win button once you have left over orbs.
If you unlocked everything there really isn't anything else to waste it on
>Vergil mugs people whenever he needs money
Kek
Kek, I sincerely hope they were shitposting
>lightning revolver gives them a special knockdown that they can't teleport out of
This is the kind of info that doesn't end up anywhere for some fucking reason with DMC games. It never ends up on a wiki and all the actual game guides on clickbait websites are shit like "these enemies are a problem so focus on them first"
I remember finding out about the way Vergil could pin a blitz down and use distorted max motivation dragon breaker to kill it instantly. Had to watch a stream for that.
is there a link to the new novel?
Ahem
>Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by a characteristic triad of symptoms: impairments in social interaction; impairments in communication; and restricted interests and repetitive behavior. People with autism have social impairments and often lack the intuition about others that many people take for granted.
>Atypical empathic responses have been associated with autism and particular personality disorders such as psychopathy, borderline, narcissistic, and schizoid personality disorders; conduct disorder; schizophrenia; bipolar disorder; and depersonalization.
He's like that as Gilver too, by the way. "I don't need money, here are your tons of cash" attitude.
No I don't. And now I'm worried.
Dante would probably humour Ner-I mean Raiden and let him think he won, would have heaps of fun with Sam and probably become mates, and just be rude to Bladewolf, who would bond with Nero instead. Vergil would kill all of them with no hesitation though.
That's not the Fallen, though.
Give this demoness a name.
I can see vergil and armstrong becoming great friends.
There have been a ton of dmc videos on YouTube that go into great detail on how to beat and style on every enemy easily. But if I remember right even the video for blitz doesn't give much advice besides never stand still and hope they don't drop on you. A great concept but the worst execution possibly ever of any dmc enemy. And that's including bosses.
I wouldn't find playing the whole game as a Fury.
>tfw no fury devil arm
WHY
Why not just write snatch them back
i hope no one notices ahahahah
IKR? I even found a special song for them.
youtube.com
That works with most things
>can overture enemy mid air and keep comboing them indefinitely
Itsuno already is behind your front door.
Motorcycle to the fucking face
Based chadsuno.
I just use DSD to fight everything.
Someone's never fought a Blitz.
>Id super ego mumbo jumbo shit
There’s a reason psychology counts towards arts credits instead of science credits.
I wanna hug it
Neither of those can do this Judeccas are just frustrating to fight.
>Feels like Dante takes none of the events of the game seriously at all
I can't take an opinion like this seriously when he clearly did.
I just S-Rank Mission 19 on Son of Sparda, why didn't Vergil's Ex Colors unlock?
It’s flashy, fast and badass. You might want to try a dull boring game like Mass Effect 2.
I'm using gold orbs through DMD and you can't stop me. I'd rather be done with it and replay them for better grades if I feel like it later than bang my head against a wall.
you're so funny
I feel like jamming out when I hear King Cerb's theme song play.
You get EX Vergil from Heaven or Hell mode.
Implying godorbers can get better grades at any point. Scum.
BROS ANY SFM YET!?!?!?!?!?!?!?-?-?-?-?-?!?
Other sources say you can get it earlier by S-Ranking him on SoS
How the fuck do I beat Urizen 3? I figured out a pattern of airborne fighting phase 1, then phase 2 with the damned Summon Swords, stick to the ground so I can dodge those easier then phase 3 is the killer for me. He just teleports all over the damn place then kills me in like 2 hits. I'm done with DMC for the night, frustrated as hell
If you're looking for porn you have come to the wrong place.
I did that in both DMD and SoS and didn't get his alt colour. Only unlocked after HoH
>literally all he wanted to do was dance as a kid
>decades later and he still has that itch in his human side
I get dead poets society vibes from this
I found just staying in his face and using enemy step to reset your air tricks/sky stars.
Swords formation was a lot of help as well.
I stayed in the air for basically the entire fight except when he'd summon swords and I'd ground trick then dash all over the place till the swords were gone.
Can you shoot the swords to get rid of them? I wonder if air fireworks would work when you're sitting on his head
Cuck
What if Vergil's humanity took the form of a child? Haha.
>Every buster animation
>Especially PACK IT UP FREAK SHOW
I can't wait to see the buster on Cavaliere and King Cerb
>It's a Judecca on DMD episode
Duck
Any of you anons have the video of Nero riding punchline to superman by goldfinger?
You might have to complete both credits fights in one go, on SoS or higher. Which obviously is REAL easy on HoH.
I've been using Rebellion for a bit of a challenge so I'm not gonna be using Swords Formation, but that Enemy Step sounds useful, I might try it. I also just stay in the air with Balrog blow mode and Cavaliere. You can shoot the swords but I do not have the skill to switch to Gunslinger and shoot then switch back to trickster back fast enough. So I just Trickster away. I also gave up with Royal Guard because there's so much godamn shit going on I can't block anything worthwhile
>Maybe he would be harder to be hit
>Characters like Dante or Trish would be a little more sympathetic?
>Nero would be even more messed up
>It tries to attack you with your Royalguard up
Where the fuck is the mod for old orbs
Buck
Fuck
I will always love Itsuno, the man has been involved in so many of my favorite games.
Succ
Lucc
>Nero uses it like a zoomer and has exclusive bright neon filters
>V uses it like he's about to slit his wrists on camera and all his filters are just monochrome or sepia
>Dante barely knows how to use it and his filters are all just 80s nostalgic ones
You get it from beating DMD, thats how I got it at least.
You know I honestly really appreciate how they gave dante a ton of moves with each of his weapons. In DMC4 he was really limited with each weapon and it honestly made me hate playing as him. Now he's actually may favorite to play again. BASED ITSUNO
Wrong
>Dante's photos are all pizzas
>Are you guys going to be weirded out when Vergil starts acting like V?
No cause Im betting this is how he would act if he wasnt traumatized in the first place. Besides I also believe this is how he swoons women unlike Dante whose just a dumb lazy jock who say cheesy pick up lines but easily fooled by women
5Dante is the best he's ever been, and now his skill ceiling just got higher.

I know every enemy has a different function and there's nothing actually wrong with the enemy variety but I wish there was some more visual distinction, looking at the enemy roster in the void is a little depressing. There's nothing really whacky or colorful that stands out there, not that I'm asking for DMC4's awful enemy designs mind you.
Do you want chess back?
I get a minor panic when Riots spawn in, thinking they're Furies.
>expensive DLC jacket
uuuhhh k
MIGHT MAKES RIGHT
>The "problem" is that it was written as a conclusion to the story of the sons of sparda and way too many people expected a tragic story with Vergil possibly dying. The bulk of complaints I've seen about 5's story are disagreements in the direction of the story, never an actual substantive rebuttal.
Most people I see who dislike the story, even dumb game journalists, dislike it because it's uneven, unfocused, and poorly paced. What about those are insubstantial?
>tackling the topic of determinism and how the fates of the sons of sparda could've been reversed had their circumstances been just a bit different
No way. Paying these ideas lip service by having Vergil have his little monologue about him and Dante's places possibly being switched at the very end of the game, while he's still, for no discernible reason, facilitating the end of the world after V returned to him, infusing him with a sense of regret and guilt over the destruction and death his powerlusting ways have caused over the years, is not tackling that topic.
Dante saying in the middle of a battle that true power is making the choice to fight like Hell to protect the things that are important in your life is not tackling the issue.
There is nearly no actual work done during the game to properly address these kinds of ideas. Nero as the protagonist doesn't fit well enough as a Vergil parallel to act as a foil because he doesn't actually pursue much power in the story. Nero talks about needing power to protect things, but he doesn't actually look for power at all. He gets Devil Bringers and then runs straight to Urizen again. He doesn't attempt to unlock his DT, it just happens. He doesn't seek out Sparda to gain a power boost, V does that. Nero isn't colored as Vergil, but saved by personal choices or by the people around him.
I personally don't give a shit if Vergil is bad or good, you can make a good story out of both paths, but DMC5's story is not good.
Yeah but what if he carries over the clothing choices? He's "liberated" now after all.
So does vergil like pizza too or is it not confirmed yet what his food taste is? I always imagined dante liked greesy american pizza while vergil goes to like fancy authentic pizza places
>Not only gets back his arm, grows 2 more
Reads like something out of a Chad/Virgin meme
He's lived as a repressed, autistic fuck that likely did nothing to feed his human desires. No he doesn't. If anything, he only ate when necessary and he'd feel guilty for enjoying it. Though, if his favorite ends up being chocolate cake I'd laugh.

>I want chocolate!
>NO I WANT THE CHOCOLATE!
Guess which one is which
WHAT THE FUCK
I used only one continue with fucking red orbs and enabled the Auto-Assist by mistake twice.
V's rush mission is really bugged, I'm going to post a webm of something retarded too.
Look at how Angelos HP just falls down, and I'm given full DT bar. What the actual fuck.
Thats gonna be a hard one considering hes too repressed to actually wear something like that. His music taste and love for literature will still be there but as of clothings? I dont see him going for it despite the fuse. Hes trying so hard to appear regal yet powerful to compensate his inner faggotry for so long that he would find those clothings embarrassing. Unless of course he would do those secretly. I can see him tap dancing with a straight face though and reciting poems to show how man of culture he is
FUCK YEAH
Fuck off with that shit.
The one who calls mom is Vergil, obviously.
He's not repressed anymore user. If you thought he hadn't changed after he merged, that's not true. He was giving Dante what he owed him, a final fight. When he gets out of hell, he going to be a different man.
You thought it was so funny stealing my Cane earlier. Bird Bitch.
Humans don't work like that, girl.
Checkpoints are counted as continues.
V is Vergil
Didn't use checkpoints either.
Don't bully the chicken, Vergil. His mocap actor was Dan, you two are the same.
Urizen is Vergil too. And Vergil is Vergil. Don't forget that.
Why are there starring signs when you're in a boss fight?
>His mocap actor was Dan
Seriously? How did Dan mocap a bird?
>Griffon's actor was Dan
For real?
Hes still a little repressed to me but he did screw loose and learned how to relax
Yeah.
We all know how.
I really hope Reuben releases some footage of the mocap. I wanna see this.
As an arts dropkick as much as I feel offended, you're correct. Freud's psychology theories are all absolutely bonkers bullshit he came up with while high on crack and I have no clue why anyone still regards his theories as valid
beakly
V was Vergil for the exception of his lust for power. Urizen was his motivation given form. V is Vergil. Urizen was a feeling. Itsuno even said "V returns as Vergil". The are the same person. Not al alter ego. Not "one part of him" or "the other half" he was everything that made Vergil who he was. Imagine watching all the bad parts of your personality walking around and causing chaos unchecked but really had no mind of it's own. That's the situation Vergil was in. That's the canon. This isn't hard to grasp.
>DON'T YOU DARE POST IT
>Reuben face when
I like how Vergil looks in 5 but your pic is the only time I feel he has resembled dmc3 version. Not sure what they did but I see it
You're delusional as fuck in your headcanon. V is his human side, and Urizen is his demon side. Fuck, they share the same pre-split memory, the only difference is that you have to forcefully persuade Urizen to merge because even he realizes they've (Vergil) fucked up and this is a way for surviving of both of them. There's no good and bad. There are only human and demon, which want to survive. And the human side isn't pure and kawaii as you think he is, you idiot.
It's not headcanon. It's out of Itsuno's fucking mouth. V is not his own character. He was actually Vergil, the real Vergil. All along. You need to stop thinking it's a different character.
I just noticed he has ur a faget face on the thumbnail.
Aaaand where exactly I disagreed with that? I'm not sure you get what I'm trying to say here.
Get in here
THERE'S ALREADY A DMC THREAD YOU RETARDS
Dante is the one that keeps borrowing money from Lady. He's lucky she's pretty lenient when it comes to paying her back. Even when he owns her money she still will give him jobs to do for money. Too bad he causes a shitload of unnecessary collateral damage. Hell, even in the DMC4 secret ending he kicks down his fucking doors to his office, I bet she had to pay for that as well.
>they share the same pre-split memory
Urizen literally says he has no memory of their mother or the events of Vergil's childhood.
CAN YOU FUCKING LOOK WHAT I LINKED BEFORE YOU POST YOUR SHIT?
i was only pretending to be retarded
>they share the same pre-split memory
No they don't, V is shown to remember his childhood and pretty much everything, whereas Urizen responded to Dante that he has no recollection of the night the brothers lost their mother, and that the illusion of their childhood home is merely something the tree itself made.
They have memory problems, V didn't recognize his hometown at first too.
It's pretty obvious Urizen doesn't remember jack shit because Vergil ejected every negative association from himself, including his childhood. It just so happens that all those negative memories, thoughts and feelings are Vergil's humanity and make up who he is at his core and without them he's just an insatiable monster. It's not hard.
Why would the tree, which is a natural non-thinking phenomenon, make an illusion of the Sparda family childhood home without the influence of Urizen, who is one half of Vergil and a member of the Sparda family who grew up in said home and has spent the last month hooked up the tree?
I don't know, ask Itsuno and Bingo, but that's literally what Urizen said.
You're being stupid user, Urizen recognized Dante and, whether you want to think it's conscious or unconscious, created the illusion of the family home. There's no fucking way for the tree to magically do it on it's own.
THIS. Thank you.
He knows Dante cause the desire to defeat his brother was the only thing keeping Vergil going, this desire is in the core of him wanting more power.
Nice memories like their home in times before the attack would mean nothing to Vergil's demon, at most it would be something deep in Urizen subconscious, but not something he would remember just like that.
Charged buster one shots furies on DMD dealing 9000 something damage. Devil bringer deals 200 damage barely scratching them. Non-charged buster deals twice the damage of devil bringer.
Implying Dante wouldn't love the fact they he now has a lot of money in the bank and can drown himself in pizza and ice cream and he barely needs to do any work.
