How good are you at counters? When he puts his shield up, shoot a projectile in it to force a counter if your quick enough. Laying mines also helps. Since he will run into them at some point.

Smack him in the face with the whip and drop landmines all over the place.

1) You can but you probably won't get as much out of it so I recommend playing 1 first since it's still a good game.

2) 2 is better but 1's worth playing as well.

3) It's great, an improvement over 1 in almost every regard.

Play both. Both are great!

When you get the health upgrade, kill the enemy shooting projectiles at the bottom. Then when you get to the ladder that covers the full screen, walk past the flamethrowers and crawl through the hole at the bottom of the other side. Makes it a million times more bearable. Also, don't forget that you can press the jump button to grab onto ladders.

Just don't overshoot the ladder after the upgrade AND miss the water. It is much too easy to fuck that up.

Just beat the game. Looking back on it, even the parts that frustrated in the moment were pretty fair in retrospect. BMZ2 is just a really solid game through and through that tightened up the few loose ends that held the first back. Excellent sequel.
