Holy shit, how did he fuck this up so much? The entire reason it was scary in the first place is that you DIDN'T see them move. Instead, you just noticed them get closer and closer, making the jump scare unexpected. If you actually see watch them approach you it defeats the whole purpose.

I feel like the series was scarier when it was jankier. Everything just looks clean and generic. Not that I've ever really been a fan of the series, but I'll admit the first game looked creepy.

I hate how complex the story became after the third game
It felt like a nice wrap up with the murderer getting karma'd by the springlock suit, and the souls of the kids finally being freed with the burning of the haunted house
Then the fourth game and onwards kept making it more convoluted and random, expanding on random shit like the bite, and introducing new specifically named human characters with the stupid novels
It was definitely better being more simple, vague and mysterious, it left a lot up to player interpretation which is what made it so compelling and also scary

Looks terrible. VR is a really dumb idea. Not only does it look like a shitty fangame (because everything after UCN basically will be), but watching the animatronics lumber around and being able to see them from whatever angle you want completely kills what made the games at the very least unnerving, and that'd be the specific poses Scott arranged them in. This became less true as the series went on, but it's a big reason, I think, the first one got to so many people.

The jumpscares also follow the trend Scott's had ever since FNAF2, which is that they're weak as fuck because the camera doesn't involuntarily shake, and also not as common but still, you fucking watch them come up to you. Don't get me wrong: I hate jumpscares -- but why make them so fucking poorly? Is it because you know your biggest audience is 5-year olds and they can't take a legitimate jumpscare?

It just makes me feel like such an idiot for finding the game's concept and characters so charming back when the first one came out and I've been ground into dust ever since. At least UCN embraced the fact that whatever horror element the games may have possibly had was quickly superseded by the mechanical challenge of the higher difficulties, something which was really just a result of Scott being a bad developer.

Nobody was important in Pizzeria Simulator since it's like a fifth of an actual game, but he's still in the canon ending and managed to be the face of Ennard instead of Ballora or Funtime Foxy. He's also the mascot in the form of Helpy. And he made it into the books.

First time I ever heard about FNAF was threads on Yea Forums praising the demo that was released to promote the steam greenlight page for the first one.

no one likes FNAF because of the jumpscares (unless you're a 5 year old obviously), people like it because of the tension of trying to survive just a little bit longer to make it to 6 AM.

the idea of losing so much progress when you die is a lot more nerve wracking than the jumpscares themselves

I really can't fault him for it, he seems like a nice guy, prices his stuff pretty cheap even though he could get away with charging more, and he's really just giving a bunch of dumb kids exactly what they want.

I think it looks kinda fun, too. Especially the segments that are brand new, because they don't seem as constrained as the parts taken from the current games. Cleaning up Chica especially seems like it has some potential for good shit.

FNAF is a resource management game with a hilariously convoluted story, a cool atmosphere, an interesting aesthetic, some underrated humor, and a decent amount of tension. The jumpscares have nothing to do with it outside of the youtube audience.

I honestly am kind of excited for the movie. They say they're using actual animatronics and that makes me super happy. Could be Krampus levels of good if done properly with a hard R rating.

It wouldn't be the weirdest thing to happen in FNAF. The protagonist of the sixth game was claimed by a robot skinwalker earlier, and is still alive thirty years after losing all his organs and bones.

There was also a character in the books who, with the help of his sister, made a fully accurate android replica of his deceased daughter that could somehow age into an adult. She was obsessed with sit-ups and never noticed that she was a robot, which probably means that she was "FULLY MODELED" as well.
