It was good. Overrated, I don't know. Maybe a little bit, I actually like the first Investigations game better Turnabout in Flames best case. The original trilogy sure is overrated, though.

Not really, at least with modes, if they included penalties, they at least tried to push you in the right direction. Logic chess was guess and hope to win if you don't get an obvious tell.

It felt like as shitty flow chart of shoving things to connect to one another.
Plus you had multiple old numbered cases, because one one old case isn't annoying enough.

The absolute worse was the retcon for manfred von karma where the forged evidence wasn't his fault, and play it like he wasn't a total asshole who forged evidence, intimidated witnesses and did other shit

I half-agree. Recipe for Turnabout is tied with Big Top and Kidnapped for worst case in the series, and I'm genuinely glad no attempt has been made since this game to add more Fey bloodline drama because holy fuck did they ever run that shit into the ground.
But Stolen Turnabout is the best case in the game, and so that's where we part ways.

And even then, it became huge gambit by the culprit.

Beyond the writing, Edgeworth Investigates as games just don't work as well as the mainline entries. I liked AA because in between trials was minimal, then this added LucasArts type bullshit.

Oh man, I'm the total opposite, the museum one was my favorite in the series but everything else was just ok.

Serenade has its weaknesses, but I like the interactions of the characters, whereas I hate every single non-recurring character in the two I mentioned, and in the case of Recipe even think Maggey was being an unjustified bitch.

(The killer of the first case was childhood friends with the killer in the final case, and they were the sons of the victim and killer of the third case, of and the 2nd and 4th cases are used as a way to give motive to the main killer because of their shitty upbringing.)

AA1 had the best story, atmosphere, and music. I'd argue that it had the funniest writing as well but that's not a hill I'm willing to die on.

I haven't gotten around to AAI yet, but don't even joke about Recipe being anywhere near as shit as Big Top. It sucks, yes, but Big Top is at least eight tiers below that, and Recipe at least has Furio fucking Tigre going for it.

No theme has ever recreated the feeling of Investigation 2001 in my book. It's such a lonely atmospheric theme that really reflects the game well. Just going in and out of different cold looking areas with no clue on what you're meant to be doing but at the same time, it has a small drive that's saying "This place, it has clues I just need to find them." Which works especially well in 1-2, 1-3 and 1-4.
