>Today we're thrilled to announce Shantae 5! You're invited to join Shantae in a brand-new adventure later this year on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC... AND the newly announced Apple Arcade! Stay tuned for more details! Learn more about Apple Arcade at apple.com/apple-arcade/
will it be only shantae playable or can i at least rescue risky from peril while she's tied up and all disheveled looking with her hair strewn about all sexily like she was a rape victim
>didn't the last one just come out, I haven't even played it yet >2016 Well fuck
Joseph Anderson
perfect time to buy the ultimate edition then. With all the extra modes it's really good value for money at this point
Chase Clark
Her vest to be present or at least a clothing option. I'm super easy to please.
Blake King
Is the company that makes the Shantae games indie? This is important.
Hudson Lopez
well that's kind of an underwhelming announcement
Adrian Smith
Not really, they make shovelware for other companies
Matthew Watson
This better be a metroidvania and not HGH 2.
Jose Bennett
Wayforward isn't indie.
Logan Baker
Remove transformation or make them instantaneous. Of the games I've played Pirate's curse is the only one with legit strong gameplay also hottest art by far
Sebastian Phillips
And like literally every other Shantae game, it'll be worth it only for the waifus and fanart. Shantae is actually a pretty mediocre platforming games series tbqfhwymf.
Charles Gomez
4 was utter dogfucking shit and no one would care about this garbage if they didn't think with their dicks.
Adrian Cook
Well shit, I'm getting their games digitally but with a sour taste in my mouth.
Jacob Nguyen
This, Pirate's Curse is the only good game
Luis Bell
What if she had the vest from PC and the arm poofs from RR?
Alexander Perez
First game and Pirate's Curse are legitimately good. I understand transformations aren't everyone's thing, but fuck it, the first one played well.
I hope it will be a proper Shantae game, unlike Half Genie Hero which was a huge disappointment since it wasn't so much Metroidvania like the previous ones.
Thomas Jenkins
A game that isn’t shit this time. Preferably like Pirates Curse.
Eli Mitchell
>if they didn't think with their dicks. you're not wrong but if you guessed that it had to do with shantae herself you'd be kind of wrong with me because i want more risky
Jordan White
>Sudden announcement out of nowhere >On actual consoles and PC, but also whatever the fuck Apple Arcade is >Latter this year, which means they're gonna somehow pump out this game within 9 months at least
Only a few games of theirs are produced/published by themselves like Shantae series from the 2nd one and after and Mighty series.
Jace Price
>Still no Mighty Switch Force 3
Fuck You Matt!
Matthew Foster
>this game began development recently
dumbass this game has probably been in development for a decent time already.
Angel Butler
I don't have anything against transformations per se, it's the constant having to stop before an obstacle - transform - traverse obstacle - stop - transform - progress - stop before obstacle - transform - traverse compared to Pirate's curse where you did everything in one go. I haven't played the very first though so I don't know exactly how that works.
Brody Russell
Maybe it was in development for a few months before this announcement.
Leo White
I still haven't finished PIrate's curse. Am I understanding that the other 2 games aren't worth it?
Angel Foster
Yes, because surely they've done nothing since HGH but sit around with their dicks in their hands.
Hudson Harris
>>Sudden announcement out of nowhere How would you prefer it to be announced? Shantae isn't big enough to get some E3 slot.
Gavin Moore
i'm pretty sure they've been working on it longer than that, though i do think they're going to recycle a lot of the assets from hgh some guy apparently claimed that he was leaking information about a new shantae being in the works and hgh was just a smokescreen to just develop the resources or w/e
Jordan Jones
I think 4 is the least like how Shantae should be (metroidvania), but it's still my favorite. I like lots of toys to play with even though there's a lack of purposes for them. 4 > 1 > 4 (without DLC) > 3 > 2. Also I like dancing (most in 1 as well) and still like Risky's Revenge even though it's last.
Wyatt Rivera
nothing wrong with thinking with your dick
Adrian Gomez
We didn't even got a console version of Mighty Switch Force Academy. And yeah, I would love a 3rd game. Or a new Mighty game (like Mighty Milky Way).
>>Latter this year, which means they're gonna somehow pump out this game within 9 months at least I imagine they've been working on it for a while before the announcement, you doofus. Probably since right after HGH was released.
Aiden Hernandez
What the fuck is the Apple Arcade, and what are the chances of this thing holding back the game from being what it could if it was just consoles and PC
They are independently owned and fu d their own projects like shantae and mighty switch force But also still do work for other companies to make games like that ducktales remake. They're kinda weird like that
Chase Barnes
>Leave previous game HALF finished >Already making a new game Fucking hell. The worst part is I'll probably buy it because I like the games.
Cooper Davis
First two games are relics of their time. Pirates Curse manages to avoid this
Logan Brown
Apple's Stadia.
Jack Reyes
Might skio it unless otherwise a proven great game
I played a couple of her games and they are just okay. Not great exceptional works, but no bad either. Best part is animation and music, but everything else is just okay. I think there is a reason why most people that play these games just wanna fuck everything in it, especially shantae and all her forms
Michael Gonzalez
Why do retards think like this? Just because it was only announced less than an hour ago doesn't mean they started working on it today. It could have had years worth of content worked on already
Colton Bell
Shantae is good but old. Looks great for a gameboy game, but camera's small so at points you'll be taking a leap of faith, and may get lost when you first get started. Once you get your bearings, though, it's pretty smooth sailling, so it's worth giving a try at least.
Risky's Revenge is alright, but its issues stem from being pretty short, and was originally meant to be much bigger.
Half Genie Hero has the same issues. Short and levels are disconnected. It's not bad, but it's more style over substance.
Connor Allen
I don’t know what it is but considering both Risky’s Revenge and Pirate’s Curse were on I think Apple and Fire Tv whatever this is probably won’t hurt it.
Logan Johnson
if only i could ever feel what it's like being between shantae's breasts
if they're going for another artstyle i hope they use more "full" proportioned models as cute as the chibi look is, i doubt we'd get full 3D soon though if its the same exact sprites then hopefully they can jam a good chunk of features in so it doesn't feel like a half-genie hero level pack, having multiple playable characters in the base game and not as DLC campaigns would be great
Apple Arcade isn't a streaming service. It's for Macs, Apple TV, and iOS. The game won't be cutting edge so I wouldn't worry
Josiah Ortiz
i hope the art actually looks like that, the chibis don't do it for me. i'm hoping that the forms and level design actually function together this time like the first game. i also want the dance parlor back.
Bet you never played Pirate's Curse pea for brains. I will agree that Half-Genie Hero was extremely underwhelming, but hey it brought the series to the masses (more future games).
Nolan Allen
So Windows Store for the faggiest of fags? Gotcha.
Nice, I have all Shantae games so I'll get this one too. I should get the costume modes DLC in HGH as well, I never did.
Anthony Harris
Post your hopes for the game >Rottytops race 2 >Dance parlor returns >Cut down on transformations BUT in exchange the transformations are more versatile
Im so happy to see another Shantae title. I kept myself busy with the Ultimate Edition of HGH and Persona 5 in the meantime. I wonder if they will improve the dance mechanics? The art will no doubt be a treat, and we can always trust WF to provide kickin music~ I cant wait to hear new details asap...
It's a subscription service like Netflix, but you can actually play the games offline. Definitely for normies, though the announcement was interesting since they revealed a Beneath a Steel Sky sequel and new game by Hironobu Sakaguchi.
Bentley Jackson
>i doubt we'd get full 3D soon though We probably won't get full 3D ever. Matt said in a Nintendo Power magazine interview that around the gamecube era they tried out making a 3D Shantae, but it was scrapped since they couldn't make a 3D Adventure game without Shantae's hair always being in the way, so 90% of the time all you'd see of Shantae was a big purple poof
Jose Rivera
>still have to deal with garbage gameplay when will wayforward move on to eroges so characters aren't locked behind boring filler?
Looks to kawaii as fuck, maybe some appealing for kids audience. Not the lewd Shantae I remember from old games but anyways, I'll pirate it and let's see later
Henry Foster
controversial but >input dancing returns as the method of transforming and entry to a more robust magic system >level design and additional functions on transformations to make rapid switching unnecessary so the new methods aren't as intrusive. >fighter moves return >story is character driven rather than event driven, and characters have plenty of interaction with one another >bolo still suffers >skye remains single >perhaps meet the sultaness
Anyone know if the artbook that came with the Ultimate edition is scanned?
Gavin Morris
Kind of an odd way to reveal it, over twitter on a random Monday with no trailer or any details other than what systems it will be on. Also it releases this year, so you'd think they'd have something to show. I'm still happy but I'm just a little bit worried, too.
Did any of the Smash shitposters make a steve Wojak to spam with? It honestly seems like they only ever spam Shantae and Banjo
I've only ever seen 3 preggo Shantaes. So unless you have some new ones that aren't degenerate shit, don't post.
Nicholas White
>Snoy could've announced it on their Nintendo Direct
Asher Johnson
Pirate's Curse is the best but it's still just a mediocre game.
Brandon Cook
mildly curious, but i'm hoping for more information over the next week or two. they may hold off the trailer until the next nindies showcase or something.
They gotta find a way to streamline the transformations.
I had way more fun with Pirate's Curse than HGH because I wasn't stopping to change forms just to get to another platform. Just get that dash boost charged and leg it.
Either that, or give her fewer transformations with more utility.
Ryder Garcia
But why this game wasn't announced at a nindie showcase? That would of been prefect IMHO.
Colton Ortiz
oh I definitely have more than three shantae preggos, and some edits. her tummy is very big, but they're also very lewd so I won't post. more wholesome round tummies, if they can be found, would be appreciated.
Nolan Wood
Snoy had the perfect chance to reveal it today at their shitty Direct rip-off, but it stars a sexy anime girl so they likely rejected it.
Aiden Robinson
>Hopes As good as Pirate's Curse. >expectations? Half assed shit like the last one.
Luis Nelson
Good one OP. Very fu--
Oh fuck, its real.
Isaac Price
Shantae ffffffiiiive baybeee!! Thank god we can have shantae threads that arent Smash-oriented Maybe also some ones that arent just lewdposting? Wishful thinking.
the transformations can't be streamlined further and still have dancing. not only that but doing so makes more challenges about switching forms constantly, if you stay in a form for a long time there's no need for a fast transition. the second option is the way to go, so longer segments can be designed around the various abilities and properties each form has, and one of the character's most defining traits (which can also be tied to the soundtrack, a series strength) can be retained as a gameplay element. fast transitions also lead to one-note forms, because of how much switching gets emphasized.
Your gut better be wrong cause I want less chibi characters like the artwork suggests.
Connor Cruz
They should make dancing serve a purpose other than transformations (you know, like how you could dance for money in GBC), to give you time to appreciate the dancing; but let you skip straight to the transformation whenever you need it.
>HGH is bad maymay Fuck you guys. The game is a definite step backward from Pirate's Curse but it's still good. As for the transformations, they need to find a way to integrate dancing into Shantae's movement, and make dancing more involved in general. Holding a button to cycle through animations is boring. The original Shantae made them require button combinations but even that was kind of dull.
Bentley Nguyen
Its honestly kinda creepy, but whatever I guess. As long as you leave the vidya discussion threads to us..
This is the problem with transformations in a nutshell and why PC has the best and smoothest gameplay. Which is both great and terrible since it shows what they can do when the game and player isn't being constrained by the transformation system, but to achieve this the one gimmick that makes the games unique has to be dropped cold turkey to become another metroidvania.
Brayden Edwards
>multiplat >will sell overwhelmingly on switch >shantae will still get in smash because nintendo are too retarded to leverage that for exclusivity even though it would boost sales significantly Who living the cuck life?
Maybe they could incorporate the dancing into her attack animations? Give her some light combos and heavy combos. Obviously a butt smash somewhere in there, along with her classic hair whip.
Then just have the transformations be more versatile. I mean really, bat and crab are cute and all, but put them in a mini-game or something, and just give us harpy and mermaid.
The correct option would be to allow her to transform from form to form. (even in midair so you could do something like Monkey Bullet into Elephant Stomp)
Landon Myers
i advocate for dancing to have additional functions like it did in the first game. i disagree that the forms should no longer be tied to it, i like the dancing, and the complaints people have with HGH are problems of level design and forms not being interesting. partially brought on by how fast the switches were, one note works fine for pirate gear, but the transformations fundamentally aren't the same. they worked fine in the first game, but they never iterated on that framework, dancing has great potential as an interesting way of doing magic, and i will never be happy with discarding it.
The game fucked up so hard though >return to levels but there will be no new locations to discover within these levels even with new danceformations >levels don't start off disconnected and only accessible by a world map only to allow players to discover paths that link locations and open up a second phase for the game while doing so >art style was shit
Juan Morgan
I think they streamlined it so people couldnt break the levels, but I completely agree with you. I would also like a return to the rhythm game-style dance transformations, but incorporate it into her combat system and have it end in her transformation. Increase the amount of enemies slightly, and put all of it together. That way there isnt a whole lot of wasted time and break in the game flow.
Obviously that means making levels long enough that they NEED maps, but yeah. Do that.
Christopher Thompson
>The best Shantae game is the one that does away with her main mechanic Don't get me wrong. I like Shantae and all but that's pretty telling about her concept.
Isaac Bennett
>Implying Wayforward didn't just forget about it
Landon Morgan
i can get behind certain moves doing damage. you could even center dances around it, complete the sequence and shantae catches fire, continue repeating the sequence and she continues to burn, and the damaging moves shoot fire. the fighter moves can be added to this for additional fun.
No joke, I was literally thinking the same thing like a month ago! Her magic would be incorporated into dancing, and have the enemies be damaged by certain moves. Have her hair more varied and do swoops, sweeps, spins and jabs as well as whips. Make the dance steps shorter for magic moves like fire or pikeball, and the reward should be getting to use it. Then have the transformation dances be dance-combat, with a successful pulloff being the transformation into the creature you chose to dance into.
What the fuck is apple arcade, is this some more streaming bullshit.
Juan Campbell
there's nothing wrong with risky's revenge besides being short
Ryder Baker
They claim to be but they really aren't.
Thomas Wright
>innies repulsive
Mason Gomez
Apple's new thing. Same as Stadia, but not cloud based.
Hudson Cox
I actually like HGH, I just didnt like reuse of the levels for the DLC you could just give me a 3d or 2d environment where I have to use transformations to explore and find secrets and I will be happy
Hunter Davis
I wonder. What if they surprise everyone and make a 3D platformer?
Aaron Collins
here's another layer. have the dancing be tied to the current BGM, the faster the song, the faster you can cast. if the time signature changes to a really weird one, then you'll need to adapt. an ingame walkman can allow you to choose the song that's playing, and do stuff you normally couldn't in certain areas. magical effects can either rely on completing a sequence and causing them, or repeating a sequence to maintain one.
Would this have been announced if there wasn't an Apple Arcade?
That's the part that bothers me.
Wyatt Campbell
Nah senpai, this is fictional innies. They're 10/10
Jordan Flores
Not today, no. Depending on how much they have to show, it might have been during the next Nintendo Direct, or maybe E3.
Grayson Smith
Are you my soul sister? Or brother, Idk if youre a boy or not That sounds absolutely amazing. On that same note, you can have the tempo of the combat music be linked to the difficulty.. But that might mean you have to create a combat version of each stage's BGM.. I wouldnt be opposed to it, but it might take alot of time to produce. The alternative is having one or two combat tracks that play each time you face groups of enemies
WayForward isn't an answer, they've contracted Inti-Creates the last two games.
Also, why is the background underwater
Dominic Jackson
It doesn't seem like Apple Arcade is the lead platform, nor does it seem like they really have anything to show yet, so it's likely Apple did give them some encouragement to make this announcement.
Luke Wilson
Because all the transformations will be ocean based. The crab is returning.
Asher Sanders
to expand, I mean you can have the different tempos of combat music be influenced by which difficulty setting the player chose at the start of the game. Easy - slow tempo Normal -regular tempo Hard -fast tempo
Jaxon Watson
>Hopes It will be good as, if not better than PC >Expectations It will be a Shantae game
I don’t know if it was announced at their event but they were waiting for the Apple Arcade announcement
Michael Hall
If its anything like the prior games, it'll be a half decent platformer with pacing issues thats insanely overpriced. Unless its somehow incredible im not buying. Shatae should be a show, not a game.
Probably not, I imagine they would've waited until they had some proper footage to show first. Wayforward also announced that Shantae/Bolo game the same day the Apple Watch was announced.
HGH feels like their most genuine platforming attempt but I do agree that their entries up until that were a slog.
I feel they could do the Wonderboy format right if were faster paced at the start instead of buying hairwhip upgrades for it. The Mega Man X-ish format was okay but also kinda feels short.
Friendly reminder that Shantae is a mediocre series that people only care about because of waifus, its only redeeming factor. Yes, because it's not owned by another company.
Grayson Parker
no need for a combat BGM, there's no distinction between combat dancing and regular dancing, some moves hurt stuff, others don't. not much movement while dancing, but depending on the effects you're producing that isn't a problem. it wouldn't replace basic combat. if you want fighter gear/ moves to be involved as part of the dancing procedure, then you can have them be a result of simple sequences, and have a tier of sequences consisting of other sequences. as for difficulty, i'm not too sold on doing that, sometimes fast is easier, sometimes slow is easier.
Does 1/2 Genie Hero have a major decrease in difficulty over Pirate's Curse? I mean I beat PC with only two hearts and I see 1/2GH has a hardcore mode and a bunch of others.
Inti Creates just did the artwork, WayForward developed the games.
Owen Campbell
Hm... yeah youre right. I got a little carried away. Still its amazing how you managed to sync with me on these ideas. I didnt mean to imply that combat dancing would be different from regular dancing, either; the only difference would be if there are enemies present or not. They would still be moves that hurt anything that wandered into Shantae. I meant to add that the difficulty was also tied into the skill of pulling off the dances, since faster tempos would mean you can screw up more easily and slower tempos would mean you can plan ahead before the step even comes (a la DDR)
The base game is significantly easier. There is a power up that even gives you infinite magic making you invincible. Hardcore mode is harder that Pirate’s Curse but not in a super fun way really it just makes the start of the game frustrating. The extra modes are for most part harder as well but just overall aren’t as good.
Something lies at the bottom of the ocean that will allow Shantae to finally contact her mother face to face.
Lucas Baker
You can easily get a bunch of overpowered items and powerups to recover health extremely easily and shred through enemies in normal mode, so yeah. Hardcore mode exists to remedy that and it's way more difficult than anything in previous games.
Lucas Wood
They did the art for HGH too and also 5 from the looks of it.
Eli Diaz
Or one level is set in an underwater mermaid kingdom or something.
Christopher Cox
twitter.com/HerosShade/status/1110336986777350145 This looks like the only gameplay we have on Shantae 5 atm. So far, it looks like the artstyle was completely revamped and has a higher quality to it. The screen area also looks much bigger
the tempo isn't constant, it would factor in to how dangerous an area or section was, another tool to tweak what can be done, and bring the music more into the fore. the difficulty shouldn't make dances easier directly, just increase the window that's considered correct a bit if you really want to. higher difficulties would have more dangerous and numerous enemies, more erratic bosses, and less safety nets in platforming sections. it's not about making shantae more or less capable, but making the challenges and enemies more or less formidable.
most of the assets are done now since they can just use the stuff from hgh and hell they don't need to worry about making a lot of movesets
Owen Diaz
Yeah that sounds pretty good, honestly~ Hopefully WF is reading this thread. Maybe they might get some ideas! If they havent already thought of this stuff
are we getting away from Sequin Land? so tired of the same forest, jungle, desert, spookland stage combo. May as well ditch Boko, Sky, and zombitch as well. they're all tapped out.
What KIND of transformations do you guys want to see?
I'd like a Naga, tiger, Succubus, and/or Dragon
Colton Ward
I really miss this art style.
Jacob White
i doubt they come here. so far it looks like it repeats a lot of HGH, but with more interesting levels. spells are still an equipable tied to a meter, and movement looks similar. jury is still out on how many or how good the transformations are, but considering everybody complained about the HGH menu, i think at least the selection process will improve. we'll have to see as more information becomes available.
Neat, though I hope its better than the last one. That one felt like it was an episodic game that was haphazardly slappped together into a singular game.
Chase Adams
>hopes I hope it will make me erect >expectations I expect it to make me erect
I think it's time they should admit one of those things
- Pirate's Curse was the best game because of its tempo and volume of content so maybe trying to do dancing that doesn't work again and again with pittance of levels really isn't the best way to go about the series - Shantae is only good as wank fodder so where's that sex with Risky minigame
Nolan Evans
I hope they don't make the levels do that blank foggy shit after you cleared them like the last game.
Wyatt Reed
I think most of us do, but the OP pic looks better than the plastic-y look that HGH went with, so its at least a compromise between the styles if they go with that~ Hm.. we shouldnt expect radical changes, but I still love talking about possibilities. Discussing ways to fix problems and make them awesome are so much fun and they could lead to positive changes~
Reminder that Shantae probably has a nice patch of pubes
Jaxon Jackson
this game so far looks better than HGH, whether it lives up to PC remains to be seen. i'm optimistic it will be fun. and i want a rerelease/remaster of the first one
>Hope -Plenty of interaction between you and the characters -Traveling from town to town/Pirate curse system -New characters to give a shit about
>Expectation -Level based like the fucking fourth -Half-assed to shit -SJW pandering despite Shantae's look
Easton Rodriguez
They should just make it a porn game already
Zachary Russell
Same! I loved the first game. I also hope that the day/night cycle will return. And maybe the return of different environmental palettes for characters?
I want the last part of the game to not be the equivalent of HGH "Oh fuck we forgot to do anything with backer created content outside of NPCs in Scuttle Town and the Jew Snake, cram them all in these last levels."
Ian Perez
day/night was fun, but could be frustrating at times. pop in a dance to switch and all is well. different palettes for different characters was a technical limitation, but a version of it to simulate colored lighting could be nice. throw in cute costumes with minor tweaks to gameplay parameters for a little extra fun, you can even have broken ones at endgame so finding all the hidden goodies isn't such a pain, like wearing a bush to avoid enemies or x-ray specs to see hidden stuff, or have challenges centered around them.
Those bubbles are slightly transparent. You can still see everything. Be gracious.
Josiah Richardson
Can I have the source?
Charles Perez
Just do whatever species of monster girl that Monster Musume makes relevant. Cowgirl Shantae when? She could have increased defense, eat grass to find items, and produce Super Monster Milk on the fly at the cost of half or most of her HP/magic, whichever you prefer.
5 CUTE facts about Risky! -She's a good pirate queen! -She's bigger than Shantae ever will be! -She commands possibly hundreds of mortals without breaking a sweat! -I love Risky!!!!
She lost her bust support skull. Now her boobs look saggy.
Leo Hughes
I kinda wanna see a stealth section again, that was fun while it lasted. It could be in a snow level this time make a shadow moses homage wayforward you fucks, I know you like metal gear
Oh man, I just remembered when I argued with a dumbass who claimed months ago that Shantae is dead like Golden Sun because it didn't get a new game since 2016.
>PS4 version has beams of light all over the screen at any given moment because all the female characters are cute and/or sexy >Switch version is uncensored and will probably come with a unique mode or something
Nolan Sullivan
Hoping that Shantae busts them tiddies out. They need to just make this series an H-Game desu
Brayden Campbell
Should I play the Shantae games in order? I have Shantae GBC on my 3DS, and HGH on Steam.
the good: >Thank god they ditched the HGH artstyle >see through pants are A+ thanks WF the bad: >will most likely be HGH's engine >due to the praise HGH got from critics and WF dicksuckers, they probably aren't going to change much gameplay wise >releasing on fucking Apple Arcade doesn't fucking bode well for the scope this game might be going for and any mechanics that could streamline the process are definitely not going to be in this game since input lag on a streaming console/phone box would ruin it >shantae's boobs are smaller
>due to the praise HGH got from critics and WF dicksuckers, they probably aren't going to change much gameplay wise I hope not. Gameplay-wise it was so disappointing. And yet game journalists and shills treat it as a masterpiece for some fucking reason. And I say that as a huge Shantae fan.
Jason Martinez
why is that the comment you decided to take out of this
>>shantae's boobs are smaller Wtf are you talking about? They're pretty much the same size. Also she never had big boobs in the first place.
Lucas Morales
Critics gave the game massive praise, both in America and overseas, it's the highest rated game in her series and it sold the most. WF dicksuckers gave the game a shit ton of praise with I think the only critic to actually talk about the numerous issues the game had being SomecallmeJohnny. As far as WF knows, HGH's approach is the version of the series that Shantae fans and the general audience enjoys, so expect this game to play like that(and probably more tedious since it's also a phone game)
Cooper Russell
I doubt Apple Arcade shit will matter much. And the engine is confirmed HGH and visually looks pretty much the exact same. The good news is the area looks like it could be a dungeon.
Samuel Morris
>user puts an obvious joke in his post about the possible places this new game might mess up in >that's the only thing people actually care about
I’m willing to wait until we see the game at least before judging. WayForward is capable of good game design and thinking for themselves, and HGH had its scope severely limited by being a Kickstarter that didn’t hit everything they wanted to hit. Even then, the extra modes somewhat save it.
Blake Williams
I mean the game has to be optimized to run on literal phones, that kind of puts a limit on how much they can actually do with the game.
Oliver Hill
I'm so happy to see my reaction image being used
Jordan Martinez
its because the others are not really easy to prove or disprove so far
boob thing is...easy to argue over due to the visual information available to us.
>didn't hit everything they wanted to hit the game got twice its original goal what are you talking about?
Michael Thompson
I was also hyped as hell for HGH until I actually played it and got super disappointed. And when I was seeing all this positive feedback I was like "What the hell am I missing here?".
Kevin Miller
It's literally in the credits. Inti did the art for HGH.
Thomas Rogers
I just want more Shantae. I bough her games with my dick and they didn't disappoint aside for HGH a little.
There was more stretch goals than what we got. At least two more chapters, full voice acting, and a fucking animated short
Chase Williams
The extra chapters. It was kinda clear with the way Nega Shantae was used in the main game and what the chapters were conceptually that the game was envisioned with those as part of the complete experience. It’s also telling with how short some of the back levels in HGH are as well that they kinda ran out of money at some point.
but now it's limited to multiple factors: >development for multiple systems >development for mobile phone compatibility(Apple Arcade) >budget consists of how much they made off of HGH minus any funds spent on developing that Contra clone, Mummy Demastered, and any other games they made since HGH along with general salary accommodating for the new employees they've hired since then >development being split from 5hantae and that Contra clone they're making, and the debugging work they're doing on Bloodstained instead of everyone working on HGH.
So I should play all the games in chronological order then?
Julian Gutierrez
It’s not like Shantae games are super graphic intensive games and the series has been on iOS in the past. Also chances are if anything goes it would be the 3D elements which would unironically make the game look visually better.
who plans their kickstarter project around what could happen if they hit the later stretch goals? any competent developer would have an idea of what their plan of attack would be if they just barely hit their goal and would have some general idea of the scope they could feasibly hit with just barely hitting their goal. Plus that's some pretty poor money handling if they ran out near the end of development... other projects have made less and still delivered much larger scope games...
Well, the other stuff you said is basically >yay artstyle change >yay see-through pants (the promo art might not be the same as the in-game art)
>boo same engine (not confirmed) >boo same gameplay (also not confirmed) >boo release on Apple Arcade (doesnt mean it cant be on other systems)
And I didnt really have anything to say about that. I just thought complaining about her boob size seemed kinda petty and wanted to say they were consistent since like, the last 2 games, if you care about it that much..
It looks like dungeons have returned, so Im really happy about that
I don’t think the multiplat thing is as big an issue. Shantae has been on phones before too.
We don’t know about the funding or how long it has been in development either. For all we know someone is bankrolling them, and Shantae has gotten bigger between HGH funding and now. Hell, she didn’t even exist in Japan back then and now she’s getting boxed releases on shit in multiple countries.
I’m not saying it’s guaranteed great, but it isn’t a guaranteed shitshow either. I’m taking the wait and see while being optimistic approach until proven otherwise.
Grayson Gutierrez
i'm talking about gameplay, you can't have super streamlined transformation shit or half the shit that was mentioned earlier in this thread if you're limited to the control scheme of a phone
Gabriel Fisher
how are dungeons confirmed, all we see is a literal jpeg that's just shantae in front of some water with a silhouette of her house
Charles Bell
Yes. I think they claim HGH is a prequel, but honestly, it feels like a sequel. I think it even references past events from the GBC game, so I don't know how that could possibly be true.
>New Shantae game >Will still never appear in Smash
Why live
Logan Anderson
That’s completely null with phones now since they all support controllers. It probably will have shit touch controls but WayForward would have to be completely retarded to let that hinder the other versions since it shouldn’t even be an issue for the mobile version.
Hudson Nguyen
>I don’t think the multiplat thing is as big an issue it's more that they're making all versions at the same time where as before it's been one then the other would come when they made enough to port it, now they are simultaneously releasing, which is good because they must have more money, but bad because it's going to cost them more to actually finish this, and considering that HGH was missing a shit ton and overall was pretty bare despite making twice it's kickstarter goal, that's a bit concerning.
Not sure why anyone would say otherwise it most definitely is
John Foster
>Hopes Literally anything even remotely interesting to validate buying a game just because a cute girl is in it. >Expectations Another mind-numbingly bland platformer with absolutely nothing of interest beyond cute girls. Not that the cute girls are bad but I'm not buying it when I can just watch the parts that have cute girls and immediately get the only reason to buy the game.
Andrew Bennett
They also announced a new Contra-like game, Spidersaurs, disappointingly enough, it's an Apple Arcade exclusive. I can only imagine this is another subscription base platform.
Brody Gray
Looking forward to this game’s release and more lewds when it drops.
well considering they're advertising the Apple Arcade version more(it was literally announced because of it) it seems like the main game will be built around that service more than the Switch or PS4.
Christian Scott
It looks like different art altogether. If it is using the same HGH sprite, it might just be a placeholder. But from this clip, it looks a bit different to me.
I wouldn't doubt it if it turns out Apple is helping fund it and that's why the game is coming to their phone streaming thing.
Xavier Morgan
Not the one I was talking about. It was specifically a Golden Sun fan who taunted me (January~February) and said Shantae is dead like his series.
Ayden Cook
Just give us Pirate's Curse gameplay, a giant world with lots of levels to explore, transformations to be instantaneous, and the art to not suck. I like HGH but after PC it is a letdown.
Isaac Gutierrez
Apple Arcade isn't streaming. It's a "pay us and download what you want" service.
Leo Young
it's still a stream to your phone and PC service though...
Jack Gray
you remember any specific words that i can use to search for it?
William Williams
not really, they have “console experience” games too
Jaxson Harris
that pokedex ui looks pretty gross
Alexander Nguyen
What romhack is this?
Isaac Bailey
but the games are made to be played on phones... that's the whole point of the service
Joshua Murphy
or apple paid them to announce it at a certain time.
Levi Flores
what shantae game shoula i start with
Landon Robinson
but they are also making an Apple Exclusive game too, chances are Apple gave them a certain amount of money in exchange for an exclusive and Shantae 5
Carter Murphy
iTODDLERS BTFO
Christian Cox
Release order: GBC, RR, SatPC and HGH
Blake Taylor
I tried looking for it in the archives but I couldn't find it.
Jackson Cook
makes sense. We'll give you some money if you make us an exclusive for our new service and make us a port for your newest game.
>Section where you transform into giga mermaid and tear thought waves of enemies with ease culmination with a 1 on 1 against either against another giant monster girl or Risky Boots in a steam powered boat mecha! >Return of squidsmit >Treat the transformation more like stances with full sets of moves so you can fight while in animal form with more than 1 or 2 moves ergo making fighting with the animal forms not a chore…
people do hate her, but with a new game it gives people the opportunity to say what they would do to fix her shitty formula
Justin Myers
No no user, those are the shitposters. If it's not Shantae they're using for shitposting, it's literally any other character people want in that isn't already in. Why do you think Smash threads don't have Ridley or KRool shitposters anymore?
Zachary Myers
>Treat the transformation more like stances with full sets of moves so you can fight while in animal form with more than 1 or 2 moves ergo making fighting with the animal forms not a chore… lol no, WF cares more about having a million transformations that only have one use, especially since people didn't call them out for that with HGH
James Hill
Most rosterfags are cancerous parasites who come here from other sites because of the hype season.
Ryder Morris
Full frontal?
Juan Roberts
>the "Yea Forums is one person" meme Shantae is one of the better liked games on Yea Forums, based Roy even funded enough to put some fine art in the HGH gallery. Smashfags just love to shit on everything.
Nicholas Brooks
This. And they whine and complain about the same 3 things without having ever even played the game
>New Shantae game is announced >I'm flooded with people complaining about her age oppose from the fact we got a new game to begin with I felt it coming and I'm still disappointed.
Nathaniel Cox
Is that a knick knack reference?
Cooper Howard
Please go back to Sprites.
Ian Smith
Kirby series changed that, so can Shantae.
Wyatt Campbell
but WF isn't HAL, they operate completely differently. Chances are, they literally won't change a single thing about how this game plays(especially since it looks like the same engine)
Robert Ward
I hope it's as good as Pirate's Curse. 1/2 Genie Hero was fine but Pirate's Curse was way better.
Hard pass if it looks similar in visual style to HGH.
Isaac Mitchell
I'm guessing your favorite is 2
Grayson Miller
Sorry user, you missed a trend last year where people were making a ton of Knick Knack themed smut by taking a character and making them look like the character Sunny Miami
Jacob Reyes
>that ducktales remake I completely forgot that came out. I'm glad they got Alan Young just before he died.
Asher Garcia
That honestly wouldnt suit her style. Shantae does whatever she pleases and being tied down would only slow her down or give Risky or her other arch nemesis's a target to make Shantae go after instead of doing her job and that just sounds boring
Logan Ward
No, but I'm fine with all her friends being in-lesbians with her.
You know what this announcement really means? New rottytops theme remix
Isaiah Kelly
>years worth of Shantae news, between the kickstarter updates, the game actually releasing, and Smash predictions/shitposting >time for round 2 Give me my fucking Mighty Switch Force 3. Give me anything else at all god damn.
I hope they don't revert back to pixel art, the hand drawn shit is good stuff
Hudson Martinez
why the butt and not the belly?
Chase Thomas
never ever, now that Shantae's making money, that's all Crap Bozo cares about
Jackson Morgan
MSF isn't that fun, man. I get that your boner is for Patty, but there's only so much you can do with the switching mechanic.
Dylan Barnes
And another Old Spice mashup to go with it.
Dominic Robinson
>Section where you transform into giga mermaid and tear thought waves of enemies with ease culmination with a 1 on 1 against either against another giant monster girl or Risky Boots in a steam powered boat mecha! That sounds both sexy and awesome.
Nathaniel Ward
>I'm flooded with people complaining about her age Isn't she a genie? She's not even loli-looking.
Jonathan Ortiz
I hope it's just a fun game, Half Genie hero is one of the worst platformers I've ever played.
If it's similar to Pirate's Curse or even Shantae 1 that would rule.
Luke Young
Pixel Shantae is legitimately better than that flash-tween looking shit. But I doubt they'd go back now, when they thought it was necessary for a console title, so I'm sure you'll get your wish.
Shantae is pretty sexy. How long until people complain and the games are censored?
Wyatt Torres
get fit, you'd easily find a cute brown girl if you are in shape. Then with enough work you can convince her to dye her hair purple
Thomas King
I only saw one post on twitter about it myself, but they were acting as if it's some "well kept secret" that she's 16, and claims the series sexualizes her, and it's just weird. Fan art aside, I feel like the series isn't THAT sexual, at least in regards to Shantae herself.
That's just the default outrage when they want to complain that she's hot but know they'll be laughed at.
Christian Torres
Why wouldn't they? You don't spend all that time and money to make all those assets just to chuck them after a single game. Pirate's Curse was still using stuff made for the cancelled GBA game. Working from HGH means they have the full cast playable, an entire suite of enemies and NPCs, and some environments all ret2go
Nathan Turner
Big Breasts: The Game
Grayson Cruz
More funky jake kaufman music plz
Hudson Rodriguez
I agree with this. It seems like a parody of sexual situations. It is more played for laughs at how silly and weird it is in everyday life, but it never goes anywhere actually lewd. If it was a different series, it might actually get lewd, but it never does. It plays it for laughs and then moves on.
Calling her "16" was a mistake. She's just a cartoon. If they had said she was 18 all those annoying prudes would have had to look elsewhere for something to get a stick up their ass about.
Charles Sullivan
Is this what the games look like? I'm interested in trying this series but not if it's lazy flash shit like this.
Nathaniel Thomas
No they're just a single A 20+ year old company with a SINGLE failed franchise that achieve cult status by pretending they're an indie franchise staring a magical genie waifubait.
Grayson Miller
>tfw the best Shantae game didn't even play like a Shantae game
Depends on if they found out the artist that designed her did all that weird shit with her.
Dylan Bell
Doubtful, being that she was a fan made character. I don't know what their agreement looked like, but it would be wise for them to move away from that for rights reasons.
They are, but everyone will claim that them simply having an IP of their own on multiple systems means they aren't, but then those same people probably think Yacht Club is indie.
Jaxon Scott
What weird shit?
Camden Ward
>tweening automatically equal bad.
Jace Brown
Funny How so many Minor Characters (Giga maermaid, Squidsmit, Twitch and Vinegar) Have more fans than Sky!Shantae vs Risky is pretty much BOOBS VS ASS.
Hard not to notice. I think the key to making a true Shantae game as fun as Pirate's Curse is to make transformations even more streamlined. HGH had the right idea, but I bet they could do it even better than that.
Pretty much this. I wouldn't be surprised if this game takes place later in the series so they can just make her 18.
Elijah Anderson
the Switch eshop release of Ultimate Edition is actually 25% off right now until 4/7, so it seems like a good idea to grab it there, but I'm not sure if there are better deals first other version before or in the future
Daniel Peterson
Needs to be a porn game already.
Brody Garcia
Goodnight anons, hopefully tonight I have dreams of cuddling with cute brown half genie.
Landon Reyes
its pretty retarded where they are complaining about a character cause of an arbitrary "age" applied to them. its fictional, who cares. You're telling me these fucks would clam up the moment she was announced as 18 with not a single design change?
Zachary Scott
Sky is pretty and all, but super vanilla and doesn't have much to her personality aside from coming off as a bit of a nag. She's the responsible one, but not many people like that kind of character. Not nearly as fun as the carefree Rotty, for example.
These people take fiction way too seriously. And not even in a fun way.
Bentley Phillips
>2 threads both 450+ replies >no mention of how incredible the '5' design in the logo is you degenerates are interested in one thing and one thing only
Connor Smith
It's because they want to feel morally superior than everyone else without actually going out and doing something good, like stopping real 16 year olds from being sexualized
where's the other thread?
Michael Ramirez
...
Isaiah Taylor
Not as fast as pokemon lewd artists. First peice was made the minute Scorbunny was revealed.
Tyler Roberts
I thought it was super cool but I just didnt think to mention it.
Its grade A promo art user.
Nathaniel Watson
lol, if it was a purple snake it would've bit em
Ian Powell
wrong
Nolan Collins
>Days like these make for great out of nowhere birthday gifts for people.
Have you ever had a surprise new game reveal for a series you love on your birthday user?
Connor Jenkins
Will they get a better VA for Rotty?
Ryan Barnes
Which Shantae is currently the best, I downloaded the one on DSi shop years ago when i first got my 3DS, the game did nothing for me, i felt super confused because everything id seen about these games screamed that they were up my alley but aside from the decent presentation the game felt really bland and boring, id like to give it a solid second go someday but maybe theres a better game?
Ethan Garcia
Honestly, I actually enjoyed Half Genie Hero. I dunno why people hate it so much. It's not the best game I've ever played, but it's fairly enjoyable for what it is.
Jacob Campbell
>Not announced on Nindies
Does this means she is not in?
David Stewart
Unfortunately I haven't played Pirate's Curse, I've only played Half-Genie Hero. Why does everyone hate HGH? I enjoyed it myself.
Christopher Powell
I really hope they add more aspects of 1 into this game, that title did so many things right. The dancing, the minigames, the overworld, the kung fu moves, you could easily defend yourself in any form, lots of secrets and cool shit to find. Dancing wasn't just transformation, you could also learn teleport dances and shit.
We'll likely now get some more info at E3...what a better time to right after or some time after during the Direct a Smash reveal?
Jackson Gomez
Not bad, people just expected more.
Jose Rogers
nah more likely they aren't going to say anything until the end of the year like a month before the game releases, save a few snippets of gameplay on their twitter
Gavin Hernandez
she's in bros
Colton Hall
yeah right...
Brandon Cooper
Please be more like Pirate Curse and less like Half Genie Hero
James Moore
Risky better be lewd is all I'm asking for.
Adrian Hughes
It's a perfectly fine game, the problem was it raised a shitload of money and people were expecting something great at the minimum. It certainly doesn't help it came after Pirate's Curse, which was a hell of a fun game.
>PS4 they will heavily censor this game, won't they?
Aaron Ward
WF doesn't fall for the censor scam. People tried it with HGH and they didn't give a fuck. At the most, Sony might demand alterations to it on their console. All the more reason to just get it on Switch or PC.
What would happen if Risky figured out she had an entire legion of fans that were basically at her beck and call given our "Sure I'll do it for lolz" attitude?
