When I first played WoW Vanilla, many years ago, I had no fucking idea what I was doing. So I rolled a human rogue, got her to about level 34 before quitting, fast forward a few years I think lich king had just been released I picked it up again, rolling an orc warrior which I have to this day as my main. If im going back to classic, im gonna roll that human rogue again just for nostalgia

I don't think I can play anything other than human. Might race change later if it's available, but I can't pass on that rep bonus. Not going to have near the same amount of time to play that I used to, so I'd like to get as much mileage as possible from the few hours a night I do get.

How do you guys feel about no RP-PvP servers? At first I was mad, but now that I think about it, it's kinda a good thing. Vast majority of the people interested in rolling on RP-PvP servers aren't interested in RPing, thry're just tourists there for the """mature community""" or because they like to sometimes observe RPers in silence. Most of these people would rather roll on normal PvP over a normal RP server, meaning that while it sucks there's no RP-PvP servers, there will at least be servers with an RP community being more than 5% of the playerbase.

I only wanted to play on rp-pvp for the lore friendly names and possible fun world events happening, I can see where you're coming from.

I thought Blizz said the RP-PVP servers would arrive laters, just not at launch.

Having played on them on retail in their prime I can safely say RP-PvP servers were never good. The pvp was way better on pvp servers and the RP community was way better on RP servers. RP-PvP servers always had this weird thing going on where the tryhards that couldn't cut it on a real pvp server would reroll there and try to flex their e-peen and it never lead to anything good.

You'll be out of the starting zones in 30 minutes and hanging where everyone else is. Gay roleplayers should be gassed.

Considering enhancement Shamans got cucked in 1.12 and didn't get a decent rework until TBC I feel as though Blood Rage and the Axe Specialisation racials will do me no good as a Shaman.

Yeah, there's always Hardiness for Orcs but there's also the reality that a lot of the disables in this game aren't even stuns and in any case you have a trinket to break you out of any pressing stuns anyways.

Hardiness is RNG, and fear, polymorphs, slows and so on don't apply to it. So from an already small pool if disables it only has a chance to work. In some engagements it may not even proc. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's RNG.

Take a look at Tauren however and it has a reliable 8 yard 2 second AOE stun on a 2 minute cooldown with only 0.5s cast time. Matched with grenades you give yourself some pretty solid control on top of Frost Shock and Earthbind. It's something that can be relied upon and with the ele/resto build I'm rolling with having some form of peel is vital. Let's not forget that Rogue trinkets in particular don't break them out of stuns. So they're particularly weak against stuns. This could be a life saver you can rely upon.

So yeah I'll be going ele/resto while levelling as a tauren shaman and I'll play resto heavy build while I raid. I understand any orc bro's choice. I'm just playing it safe. Aside from that, I like Taurens a lot more aesthetically.

It's the truth. Don't take my word for it. Wait for Blizzard to send you a free weekend or just play a free trial. The world is dead. Everyone gets to level 15 and just sits in stormwind or orgrimmar for the entire course of the game spamming dungeons. World PVP is non existent as it is but sharding makes it impossible. Nu WoW is a perfect example of how to take the 'massively' out of MMO.

historically you're pretty much correct. Emerald Dream server is the only rp-pvp server that maintained near 50:50 A:H ratio and went out its way to keep wpvp alive with longterm guild feuds, even in xpacs where wpvp was all but dead. But even ED had it's fair share of unironic ERP (a military themed belf guild was notorious for it).

Don't raid heal in a pvp spec. You'll be dead weight. Rogues have to roll with the likes of combat which isnt exactly optimal pvp either. Non-geared warriors would rather play arms warrior for mortal strike but we all gotta make sacrifices to perform well in raids. I fully intend on playing resto/ele for PVP cause I want to actually be capable of defending myself while bringing utility and some off heals to the mix. But for Resto I seriously suggest you look up
a player called egregious. he has a in depth guide on resto shaman build up.

I never did any raid content because I was a casual kid when vanilla was out. When playing healing specs in optimal environments is there any obligation for healers to contribute to DPS at all or should their focus be entirely on healing?

I'm coming from FFXIV where healers are expected to pull their weight with DPS contribution.

Sometimes there are good ones. But it all depends on officers being able to reign in the autism that ruins fun.

Its a game where healers are expected to heal hard and nonstop, even when there is little damage coming out you're spamming out low ranks because a stop in healing could ultimately mean death.

Healers don't dps at all. You occasionally cast a buff/debuff but it's pretty much staring at green bars the entire time.

Not really, depends on the dungeon, chances are if the tank outgears it you can DPS for a good most of the time. Since if you're in like T2+ you're not stepping foot in dungeons unless to help friends.

Priest is probably the best class for you if you want to do different stuff. They have a magic remove/manaburn/CC. You can also play them as a dps spec in dungeons because they are really easy if you know what you're doing.

Yeah, if you can get a nice group of people who want to tell and interesting story, and not just wank off their characters, shits so much fun. Especially if you manage to get people to get out and leave the cities. One thing I regret from childhood was that I didn't really learn that until towards the end of Wrath.

That said, when I was on Horde Shadow Council in 2007-2012, I fell in with a group of people who by sheer chance happened to be around my age, plus or minus a year. So what there was a bunch of shitty middle and high schooler RP. It was awful, it was cringy. But it was fun.

TBC, most of what you're gonna be doing is dynamite and sapper charges since that shit hits VERY hard and gets tons of threat.

I did this in vanilla and you are going to be frustrated as shit. Still cannot decide between mage or warlock. I am worried that I will not have enough time to get the gear I need to pvp, so I'll never achieve that true lock powerhouse. On the other hand, mage doesn't need as much gear to be successful, but locks are much rarer than mages. If I roll a mage I might not have the time to distinguish myself from other mages, and I'll have trouble finding groups for premades/raids. I don't even want to be a hardcore raider or get R13. I just want to occasionally premade for fun, and raid twice a week or so. I also enjoy wpvp and will definitely be collecting all the bullshit pvp items/engineering.

There's a glut of hunters early on because they're simple to play and level. But melee and casters outpace them so fucking bad in vanilla as new raids come out. So they lose dps compared to other classes and there's always too many of them.

It's gear progression and utility. Mages get a free 6% spell hit from talents and there's zero fucking spell hit gear until BWL/ZG. This means mages are shitting on locks for all of MC. Mages can AOE grind and level a lot faster and their CC is perceived to be better. On private servers locks were very absent through the MC tier.

They eventually catch up in dps but it's kind of too little too late for a lot of people and summoning every lazy retard is annoying.

I'm not worried at all about raid dps. Locks get taken to mc for banish and utility from stones and curse of elements. My guild on nost let me in my first raid at lvl 58 because they needed an extra banish THAT badly.

Mages have to gear against each other and compete for dps slots. There are also more mages competing, but there are generally more raid slots for mages.

Another benefit of Warlock is I can keep the same spec for pvp/raiding (although I'll constantly wish I had conflag anyway)

I never did it in live so someone else may be smarter, but i don't see why it wouldn't be. It works because you can skip 99% of the trash in dm:east and the bosses aren't hard to 2man.
use grounding totem when the one dude does his sacrifice thing and it will eat it.
You jump down, avoid the lashers/plants, kill invis satyr, pull water monster back into the room you were just in, kill him, hug wall, go through pool, dart across and hug wall again, go through tunnel, do sacrifice guy, jump down and out, sneak to big tree, talk to him to do the roleplay, keep avoiding plants while going to the door, go through door, avoid big trees and jump onto ledge thingee, warrior jumps down and you heal from up there, boss dies, you wait until combat drops, then jump down. check for red book, mine thorium, exit instance, repeat.
when you get it down it only takes like 10 minutes, if that, per run.

Again, this is pserver experience and i never did it on live, so if bosses hit harder or something else, i couldn't say.

Either. Enhancement Shaman got reworks sometime around 1.12 and it recieved nerfs to windfury AP but stormstrike kinda got a buff to balance it. I honestly think Blood Rage is suicide in PVP most of the time except against maybe casters you're right on top of. Trolls are a bit more flexible but most of their racials are meme tier. Taurens have war stomp which is honestly really nice considering they completely lack hard disables otherwise.

Yeah in our guild we would always do the pulling onto tanks. Part of the trial was chain pulling MC solo to the tank. In bwl kiting those belf mages was a great help cos of the invuln bubble they did. UBRS had a ton of kiting options to make pulls easier on the group. Hunter was a lot more engaging than people think. Even in naxx still doing pulls and kites.

So much of the stuff in the Warcraft RPG was worked on by Blizzard. Northrend was mapped out first in the RPG, the Shado-Pan were first described in it, etc. It also fleshed out the Titan lore, and introduced Norgannon, Aman-Thul, Aggramar, Eonar, etc. Felo'melorn (the fire mage artifact) was originally in the RPG fluff, as was the importance behind the Lich King's helm

It was canon until something introduced ingame contradicted it, and then it was tossed out wholesale in Cata. By which point dwarves got shaman anyways, and the shamanistic aspects of Wildhammers were made even more obvious in-game. Hell, people were justifying dwarf shaman to begin with. because of the Wildhammers

That's because the way that blood elves were given paladins was seen as hamfisted. The Light, which was viewed as an abstract metaphysical force powered by faith, now had magical crystal windchime angels, and blood elf wizards were somehow able to drain it and give it to chosen warriors who were frankly, not really beacons of faith. It just seem convoluted, and I think that's why Blizzard went with the whole "oh M'uru was actually okay with it the whole time" thing because of how weird it was.

Whereas, all you need to become a shaman is to have a connection with the four elements. Tauren had a shamanistic tradition most similar to orcs. Troll shamans share witch doctor duty with troll priests because making a custom class for a race is too much work. Wildhammer dwarfs were shown to be living in harmony with nature, had a close relationship to gryphons, and had lightning hammers. It's not a giant asspull to let them be shaman like blood elves.

That said, justifying Bronzebeard dwarves getting shaman because Magni read a book so hard he turned into a diamond is almost as dumb as Blood Knights. Blizz should've just had dwarf shaman be Wildhammers.
