Is the XBone controller any good?
I'm always wary with wireless controllers because I feel like the batteries are gonna make it needlessly bulky & heavy in comparison to wired

DS4

literally any controller you want. its personal preference, so just try out as many as you like and see what happens.

You can use the Xbone controller wired and it’s really light. Just take the batteries out and plug a cable in.

>DS4Windows
>not using Steam's own DS4 configurator

ahh yeah, how's sekiro working out for you user?

>light bar
>a positive

is it a mess to use on windows 7?
A lot of the shit I'm reading seems to only talk about windows 10 & when I googled "xbone controller windows 7" all I see is a bunch of shit talking about workarounds and how to get updates and shit for it

It was never that good

I've been using one on Windows 7 since 2014. You might need to manually install the drivers, but it works perfectly fine.

The DualShock 4, Xbox One controller and Switch Pro Controller are all perfect or close to it, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Built like an absolute tank and when something did break, it's usually very easy to fix because it was made to let you fix shit

that doesn't sound too bad, might pick one of those up if there's a sale or something then, since they seem quite a bit more expensive than 360 controllers atm

Microsoft has killed the 360 controllers? Fucking Microsoft man, it's the original Xbox circa 2005 all over again, they fully kill the support to force you to buy their latest stuff.

tell me how to fix the stick drift on mine then. already tried cleaning with alcohol

user, you don't know what you're talking about, and I can't be fucked to explain why again every time, but you should just know you're wrong and a little further insight on your part will tell you why.

Turn it off in DS4Windows.

I'm buying like 2 or 3 of those wired 360 controllers next month so I can be a grumpy old gamer stuck in my ways for the rest of my days. They just don't make em like they used to, or something

They literally killed the controller through updates, three or so years ago it worked perfectly, now you can't play shit.

It's not even a hardware thing, my Xbox 360 controller works perfectly in my pirated PS3

>hmm this launcher that everyone has already installed in their systems has a fantastic way of setting up my controllers
>wait nevermind I'll install some random chink's botnet instead with half the functionality

guessing you went through reddit.com/r/xbox360/comments/33d003/any_easy_way_to_repair_a_controller_with_left/ ?

I think I once had stick drift of one of mine & after opening it up & cleaning the internals, it got fixed for me

yeah they're getting real hard to find
I picked up the last one from a local store even though I didn't need one just to have a spare

I'll just use my 360 controller until it dies, basically only use it for Soulshit anyway

can't you use something like Xinput and say "fuck it"?

not sure if you're talking about xbone or x360 but my x360 works flawlessly on my w7 machine atm

>XInput supports maximum of 4 axes, 10 buttons, 2 triggers and 8-direction digital pad per controller, compared to DirectInput's support for 8 axes, 128 buttons, and full-range POV.
>XInput supports a maximum of four controllers at a time. This is an Xbox limit, carried over to Windows. Although as of 2010 few PC games require more than four controllers at once, DirectInput itself has no such limitation.

steam sounded promising but every time ive tried to use it , something just ends up pissing me off.
>For one is the stupid guide button chord config turns back on every time u setup controller support, and does not disable when you disable controller support, you have to go zero out the config manually (found out this shit was enabled when using retroarch pressing ps button my mouse would move and shit)
>no dinput config support
>rumble support is patchy at best sometimes doesnt work
>lightbar config terrible (i like coloring it by battery level on ds4windows, turns from green to red in a spectrum)
>plenty of other things I can't remember right now
The only thing steam does better is you can make like fake 4 button pads on the touchpad and shit like that, not sure how well it works in practice

Is that the reason the Xbox One controller didn't add any new buttons?
I want extra buttons on the back of the controller, damn it!

>fantastic way
It barely fucking works and if you want to configure it you have to trudge through the horrible big picture mode UI

Does that work with non-Steam (read cracked) games, though?

*blocks your path*

>You might need to manually install the drivers
Microshit have removed all official support for manual xbine controller driver downloads from their website so you have to do some digging to find an older driver.

This one

Attached: 1426352653.jpg (2030x1753, 212K)

Yes it does, I use it for GoG games all of the time for my Switch Pro

I've had two Xbone pads and both of them had issues: the first one has a broken bumper for no fucking reason, the other one keeps disconnecting at random and has sticky buttons (A and X sometimes). It might have been bad luck or just shitty manufacturing.
My old 360 pads still work despite the cable being wonky at times, the DS4 I bought has endured almost two years of Tekken torture and it still works flawlessly.

Reminder that if you're getting a PC controller you absolutely need to make sure it's xinput compatible no matter what if you want a clean, no hassle experience. Especially if you're playing a non steam game. Xinput guarantees no matter what game you play it'll just werk, without any bullshit secondary program input delay inducing wrapper or configuring bullshit. Never fucking buy a playstation controller for PC unless it comes with an xinput mode.

>>>/underage/

That one is a third party with grip buttons.

Attached: 1525992219320.png (700x467, 457K)

What brand and how much is it? I have to replace my current Xbone pad.
I also forgot to mention something going on with the right stick axis which results in seizure inducing camera bullshittery in racing games.

The garbage battery life of the DS4 (8 hours maximum) is enough reason not to get it

You need to get that xbox 360 accessories program that reads it as a 360 controller. I think there's more shit to do if you want it wireless but just keep the cable plugged in and it works fine.

>both left and right triggers are the signed difference between both triggers. pushing both triggers in cancels them out to 0.
are you serious? I thought that was an issue with the emulators I use

made shooters unplayable because I couldn't even aim and shoot at the same time

Attached: 1551121329092.png (632x1172, 142K)

Isn't DS4Windows the one with spyware or malware? Or was that some other DS4 program?

switch pro controller

I''m trying to play sekiro on pc with one and the fucking batteries disconnect when it vibrates. Lost so many lives because of this piece of shit.

dinput is objectively better but the reality is nobody supports it anymore thanks to Microsoft. SFV even removed it in a latest patch because it was fucking with xinput controllers. The only reason I can use my Pokken controller for so many games is because steam finally recognized it as a Switch controller and I can rebind shit through their wrapper.

Same, I bought a couple sealed ones on Ebay.

Wish Inhad gotten some DS3s. Even the ones that say first party and list the manufacturer as Sony are still third party "P3 PRO EDITION" shit.

Thanks user

>shoulder buttons become around 70% responsive after a few months of light use
Oh boy I sure love playing games as if I'm playing on a busted Chuck E Cheese cabinet. Also the sticks are fucking terrible. Dpad and face buttons are alright.

Fuck I forgot I need to pick an extra one up. These are my favorite controllers ever.

>he plays wireless

Zoom zoom.

>not playing all your games on a mechanical keyboard
>not keeping the neighbors awake until 3 am with your constant CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACKing

I used an F510 and an F710 for years. It took me coming across a very cheap Xbone controller I planned on reselling to realize just how completely trash those triggers are on the Logitech controllers. WAY too stiff and at such an angle that it's trying to shift your thumb's position on the face buttons or sticks too.
It has three advantages over the Xbone controller. Its face buttons are actually a higher quality than Microsoft's own, the switch for D/X-input is nice, and the triggers have this lip where you can jam your middle finger onto it and mash a button with your thumb faster than fucking turbo mode. But it's still not worth it over Xbone's amazing triggers and stick placement, and this is coming from someone who used to be a huge symmetrical stick-fag.

some extra points for ds4windows that I like is the ease of setting up macros (alt tab especially) compared to steam's shitty solution and having the touchpad double as a stylus in desmume. haven't been able to get it to work in citra but maybe it's just the build I'm using.
the only problem is that I went through 4 ds4s to get one that was reliably built without any janky analog sticks or triggers. my 360 and switch pro were fine out of the box. anecdotal, but I've historically had a problem with the build quality of sony's controllers since the original ps1.

I'm 50% of the way through Sekiro using that gamepad. It's fine.

Anyone?

Is this any good? how's the dpad on this?

You're thinking of the one for DS3. Always-online interface written in HTML that had ads in it and gave you BSoDs. Supposedly DS4 support is incomparably better, but I don't have a DS4.

Bone controller gives a horrible first impression. Feels like a third party 360 out of the box. I'm a consolecuck primarily and initially it feels like a step down. You have to use it for awhile to see its great.

the DS4 controller for some reason has more input lag when wired than when it's wireless

Just get a mayflash adapter so you can use literally any controller you want on PC

Why is the dpad on the ds4 so fucking mushy?

It feels like shit. Are there any good controllers left ?

Is there any easy way to swap Pro Controller between PC and Switch? I use both daily and I really don't want to connect back and forth daily. My 8Bitdo SNES controller has that option, can switch between PC X-input and Switch with a simple button combo, but I don't imagine the Switch Pro has something like that?

Keyboard and mouse, zoomer faggot.

Not every game is better with kbm

you're thinking of motioninjoy or something, chink spyware xinput wrapper for the ps3 controller

Its got a surprisingly great dpad, the only thing that isnt great are the bumpers but even then they arent bad.

the wired and wireless modes of an xbone controller both have more latency than wireless ds4 with a wrapper. I'm not even kidding

The wireless 360 controllers were the worst. Microsoft deserves a class action law suit against the faulty battery packs that got loose and randomly shut off the controller.

No offset thumb sticks, no buy

>Not using this beauty, with it's perfect Dpad and triggers and switch on the back for native Dinput or xinput.

Attached: 41fNaGns7FL.jpg (500x328, 26K)

Dualshock 4 has the better quality and more features, but depending on your bluetooth card/dongle, it doesn't always have the best connection wirelessly. It also has some trouble emulating the xinput control scheme for very specific games. Other than that it's okay

I personally stopped using the ds4 because of the connection issues with my new PC, but the xbox one controller + the proprietary dongle is really good

Attached: bouncing-truck.gif (211x177, 145K)

What the fuck did you do to yours? Mine's been chugging along fine for a year and a half now after my old 360 controller busted.

So should I get the DS4, XBONE or Switch Pro controller?

I'm looking for something that feels solid, has a good D-Pad (important) and HUGE battery life

How much though? People get autistic about latency but if it's like 50ms nobody is ever going to notice that.

Wii U Pro

It fell off the couch once and landed on the trigger. Opened it up and the paperclip wire holding it in place was bent. I keep bending it back but I think it's permanently weakened.

>not realizing there's different tools for different jobs
do you use a hammer to put in screws?

driving for example is absolute aids on m+kb, and while I'm not quite there to get a steering wheel & pedals, a controller is significantly better due to analog sticks & analog triggers

Wii U pro but you'll need an adapter.

>analog triggers

Attached: 1549247051421.png (645x756, 22K)

>50ms
>no1 notice
What? it isnt anywhere near 50ms i believe its the different between 1-2 and 5ms but 50ms is yikes

>Wii U Pro
Not sold in my country

woops

wiiu/switch doesn't have analog triggers?
what the fuck?
cmon ninty

The PS4 controller doesn't work with half the pirated games I try to use it on, for some reason, even with DS4Windows. I just bought some chink-brand 360 pad off Amazon after my original 360 pad broke and it works pretty well.

I was thinking of buying an actual Xbox One controller, but then I decided to hold off till E3 to make a purchase to see if Microsoft is releasing a new controller any time soon, which I assume they will be if a new console is coming out.

>which I assume they will be if a new console is coming out.
is there even a point in them releasing a new console?
didn't they just bring out the xbox one super elite edition or whatever?

the switch doesnt, not even the pro controller
the wii u had i think

Steam Controller, WiiU Pro, and Pokken Controller for various different types of games.

I dunno, every rumor I've heard says they're planning on having two new consoles at E3 this year. I don't really plan on buying them at all but if the controller is nice I will pick that up.

xbone. plug and play and feels comfortable to use.

>I want my button inputs to not be instant
based retard

that's user error , at least get the correct version that is still updated in 2019

XBone controller is objectively speaking the most well designed controller available for purchase right now.

I have it, it just doesn't work with some cracked games for me like Sekiro. I don't know why, and I don't really care enough to troubleshoot it because I don't think the Dualshock is that much better than a 360 pad.

It's definitely user error. If you do it correctly your computer reads the controller exactly as it would read a 360 controller.

Attached: 360.gif (296x340, 1.62M)

I'm pissed Sony added all that shitaxis crap so I cant use it with PS3.

I got this yesterday. I like it

>Dualshock 4 has the better quality and more features

The ds4's quiality is fucking garbage m8, it feels like cheap, light plastic that's going to break at any time, it even creaks when you hold it tight.

The 360 one was cheap but it also didn't feel like it was gonna snap at any time.

Also the touchbar fucking sucks.

how can you guys stand chinese controllers, their analog sticks suck hard, they're more like 6-dir d-pad than proper analog sticks

not to mention that many times the rumble doesnt work and the triggers are just regular buttons

Attached: 100% haram.png (638x345, 152K)

Generally if a controller is $15 and sounds too good to be true it is. I've bought enough chinese shit and there's always something wrong with them.

xbone since native compability
also its looks much better than whatever abomination sony made

ditch DS4W and launch games inside steam big picture

Xbone seems pretty good and light. I bought one of those Elites used, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

after turning off rumble, random shut downs stopped. you are right though, it's a design flaw.

I like the combo ds3+scp

>Falling for the analog jew

It's a mess on Windows 7 if you want to use it wireless because they phased out the dongle that works on both 7 and 10. Its fine wired

The design for these controllers are great but what is the deal with how awful not just the d-pad has been but also the sticks wearing out quickly? The rubber on those things melts real fast even in just a years use. If it weren't for that shit it would be the best controller of all time and I'd have bought many wired ones.

xbox 1

Anyone know if the ebay seller hongkongsuperseller is selling legit 360 controllers? Only seller I can find with brand new wired controllers and they look real, but I'm not sure if there are convincing knockoffs out there. Most of them are easy to spot

>being this new

I prefer the wired ones. Also I'm talking about the 360 controller specifically here so what is your post even?
