Know what bugs me most about the story in ME3? Other then the ending, the lack of unity. A theme in the game is how we need to really the galaxy under the one banner to fight the reapers, yet the game dosn't really reflect this to the extend it should. You should have gotten a batarian team member and have one of each species represented on the Normandy.

I feel that you could also do a lot more with that, it would cause a lot more conflict between parties, species and people too, since that thing would trigger their lust for war and they would believe it to be their own genuine wish when it was actually just manipulation. It's way better than giant squids that genocide half of the galaxy to get us an edgy setting.
I also found that manipulative aspect of indoctrination interesting as fuck, it would have been cool if it wasn't just single villains getting evil but you experiencing that shit yourself. It would make the Renegade route way more meaningful since it would actually amount to you giving in to said war-indoctrination whereas the Paragon route would you be fighting your instincts.

The only thing the Alliance is set up to be is composed of human upstarts who are considerably weaker than the dominant council races, and who are colonizing rapidly. I don't think much more worldbuilding is necessary than that to explain why outer colonies are hard to defend against agents of the fucking Reapers. You still haven't said how any of that conflicts with what was set up in the first game at all. And you know what you call explaining aspects of your world you haven't already touched on? Worldbuilding.

From a creative perspective I agree, as far as aliens go they're not very interesting. They created a race that's infinitely more interesting than they are.

Asari and Quarians are the least interesting aliens that have a handful of based characters. The others range from good to entirely one-dimensional (such as the volus).

It was explicitly a thing. Benezia didn't have any Reaper tech. Vigil also talks about the Reapers using indoctrinated sleeper agents.

I wished I could have saved him when I played the games. It would also have been interesting seeing his reactions towards the illusive man he knew as an enemy from the war and his reaction if you choose the synthesis end in part 3. I always found him more interesting than Garrus.

I know that most planets were just empty zones, but fuck me that was comfy. Especially the one in the system with two suns, blue and red. I miss that, gave a feeling of exploration and mystery. There was also that ball artefact on a planet, gave you a kind of vision under the form of text. ME2 and 3 could've been much more. I love the whole franchise, andromeda set aside, but imagine what it could've been.
