Do you miss custom moves?
Do you miss custom moves?
No
not really, they were too tedious to unlock and were either absolutely broken-tier or barely changed anything. Makes sense to keep them for mii characters but nothing else. Probably wasted resources in smash 4 to add them.
>they could have applied custom moves to echoes like Daisy, Lucina and Dark Pit to have a quick, cheap differences in playstyles
>instead, they scrap them all entirely
I can live with them not returning for all fighters, but not using them on the echoes was a missed opportunity.
Nah. They were shit.
no, they were a pain in the ass to unlock and had piss poor balance, if smash adopted a capcom style style system where your entire special set got swapped at once and shit was balanced better it could have been interesting
they had potential to be interesting/different but with the actual way they were implemented (arguably aside from palutena) no
Why do I get the feeling Bass and Proto Man were added to Mega Man's final smash because they were originally fully-modeled and intended as Echo Fighters that would use his unique custom moves?
Nah, it's probably because they wanted to use the trophy models they made for 4 for SOMETHING.
Aren't their models taken from Smash 4 trophies?
Sort of. They could have been implemented better though.
So much negativity in here. I personally miss them; a lot of my enjoyment in Smash 4 was playing with custom moves on against friends. It made fights a lot more varied especially when we used random stats with random moves since we had them all unlocked.
Sure, the execution could've been better, but it was still a whole lot of fun, especially with mods.
>TFW you'll never get a Proto Man or Roll echo with Mega Man's custom moves
I'm with you it would've been perfect. The only echoes to have actual differences were chrome dark pit and ken.
you need to go back
Same. A lot of characters had really unique custom moves and were fun to fuck around with.
Imagine actually paying for a Wii U and Smash 4
>Echoes didn't get balanced versions of custom moves
disappointing
>move
>slow move
>fast move
>thunder move
>Lip's Stick move
>wind move
No. They were lazy as fuck if your name wasn't Mega Man or Palutena.
>Dude normal attack
>Dude strong but slow attack
>Dude weak but fast attack
And for recovery’s:
>Dude higher recovery but no damage
And then you had developers pet palutena with 4 fucking movesets
what about Mii Fighters?
It was Palutena's gimmick in a game where practically everyone had a gimmick.
Imagine the amount of effort they put into these moves just to put them behind three or four layers of randomness in order to unlock then discard them in the next game.
That's Sakurai bias for you
I honestly forget Mii Fighters have been in Smash.
Nah I still have them since I main mii gunner in this game unironically
yeah i thought it was bizzare in smash4 that dark pit and lucina were so similar when they had custom moves sitting right there, literally just give them the 2nd set of special moves instead of the first and they'd be a very different character. in fact showing how many custom moves they could make for smash 4 proves how lazy echo fighters really are and they should at most be semi-clones with different specials.
Gunner secondary here, excellent taste in characters.
yes and no
I liked messing around with them and some were just downright retarded fun like ganon's sword warlock punch
on the other hand, obtaining them was ass, and I hated the ones that were just "the same attack but bigger and slower" or the opposite, those weren't fun at all.
if they brought them back then I wouldn't mind them being spirit functions or something like "spirit gives you x version of x special move" to give more of a reason to use some spirits over others but that'll most likely never happen
>Miis
>Mega Man gets the same treatment
>b-b-but it makes sense
>Palutena doesn't
>no other Kid Icarus or Kirby character gets it
I would if most of them were good. This guy only got 3 kinds of homing attacks which were not that good. Couldn't they at least give him the bounce move or tornado spin?
Daisy is different but its just that she is slightly worse than peach her turnips are a little bit worse at kill %, its irrelevant outside super high level play though.
>Sure, the execution could've been better
That's a fucking understatement
>uncreative variations
>have to be randomly unlocked
>can get duplicates
>a lot are objectively worse than the original
> Introduce Custom moves
> Doesn't add Ray from Custom Robo
Seemed like a wasted potential, the series got no representation in Smash 4
I liked them but they were so slow to unlock that I didn't get nearly close to all of them before getting burned out on the game. Custom moves felt like an appropriate addition to the series. Maybe they could have found another way to implement them, but one way or another I think they should have stayed.
I miss WHAM Kong.
I don't play peach or daisy so I didn't know that
exactly
>mfw ken got in but not proto man
I just wish some of the customs were made into defaults in Ultimate.
And by some I really just mean Koopa Drift, that shit made Bowser Jr. actually playable.
Not really, but I'm sad that they didn't expand upon it in a more balanced manner, along with the equipment.
I was hoping for
>custom moves relegated to 3 sets, so you can't just pick all the best moves and leave the shit ones, you pick whichever one of the sets you like best
>no need to go into a menu to customize it, just make it an option when selecting the character, go down by your name and shit and select moveset 1, 2, or 3
>custom equipment could have been reworked into an exclusive thing for mii fighters, where you have points to allocate into your fighter
>every 2 points in one stat decreases another by 1, i.e. 2 attack gives you -1 defense, 2 defense gives -1 speed, 2 speed gives -1 attack, etc.
>could make each stat range from -50 to 100, starting at 0 of course, and give players like 180 points to allocate
>skills could have been bought with the points too, shittier ones like starting with an item could have cost like 10-15 points, really good ones like vampirism could have cost 40-50 points, etc.
>no unlocking bullshit, have all this customizable shit available from the start
I'm still playing the 3ds version and I just rekt some faggot named psycho
Wii U had some fun games and I don't regret it. I still go back to play Nintendo Land with friends from time to time.
Smash 4 is one of the few games I regret buying though. And I bought it twice.
Beat was a better up special than Rush desu
This. What a waste considering Sakurai is so hellbent on replicating things if not outright recycling them. Then again, this is Sakurai we're talking about, so of course he wasn't going to build on an already good feature like always.
