Just got done with FF9 and now I finally know why everyone goes crazy for it.
Now I'm just gonna play Salmon Run until FF10 comes out.
How's FF9 and FF7? Really interested in playing them, never did as a kid.
GLAD YOU MADE ONE BECAUSE I AM FUCKING PISSED.
youtube.com
ALL. THAT. FUCKING. POP-IN.
anyone know how much nintendo charge to repair a joycon?
all the buttons of one of mine suddenly stopped working, with only the stick being able to input anything (despite no external damage and no water damage or anything; just stopped working after a a while of being unused since I have better controllers to use)
Haven't started 7 yet but 9 was amazing. Proper unpretentious fairytale story and likeable characters.
The battle and levelling systems have depth but aren't overly intricate to the point of getting lost.
There's hours of side quests and additional goals with their own characters and stories.
At the end I was kind of sad to say goodbye.
FF7 if you want a depressing story of redemption
FF9 if you want something uplifting and extra comfy
playing some Romancing Saga 2. Its pretty brutal but satsfying when you finally make progress. I dunno why SE ever sold it for 25$ as that’s insane when its obviously just a mobile port but touched up.
isn't ff9 on switch the mobile version or some shit?
I heard it had issues
9 started strong, but the game got progressively weaker as the story progressed, going full retard at the end. That's on par with Final Fantasy games I guess.
>Nintendo offers free one week trial of NSO for downloading the Splatoon 2 demo
>use it to play Tetris 99 instead
Although I already own Splatoon 2 so I didn't need a demo anyway.
Does it look like mobile trash? Does it run well?
The -only- issue is the overworld/dungeon music restarts after battle, which it didn't do in the original.
Instead of hearing the whole thing, you hear the beginning bit again. If you want to hear the whole thing you stand there or sort out your party in the menu.
Otherwise it's a perfect port as far as I know.
that sounds really annoying in a game built around random encounters
It's typical for Japanese RPG writers to raise the stakes via fantastical means, as opposed to social or political stakes. It's more accessible for younger players that way.
Yeah it dulls the adventuring parts a bit but it's by no means a dealbreaker.
Just finished XC2 for the second time, this time in Japanese. I can't express how much I love that game. Right now I'm trying to decide whether to play FFIX or FFVII, neither of which I haven't played.
There's no performance issues but the pre-rendered backgrounds were made for smaller TVs so naturally they look a little fuzzy compared to the models.
>buy a new set at a store you don't frequent
>put the old ones in the box
>get a refund
>made in Italy
how can you be surprised ?
The italian game industry is pure shit.
been playing path of exile. going to start on ff7 and yoshi once i start to get burnt out. how grindy are FF games compared to DQ?
The game looks fine on the other platforms, they just ROYALLY fucked up the Switch version and that's unfortunately the one I have coming.
>The game looks fine on the other platforms
You are not missing much on that garbage, it's a no brain copy of Ridge Racer
Just like Redout. Italians have no soul when it comes to make videogames.
Holy shit that is rough. There's straight up track edge elements that don't load in until you're getting there, which will actually have a meaningful impact on gameplay since they help determine distances on the fly.
I think it's fine as a racing game. It's no-frills and by-the-books but everything I've seen suggest the gameplay is on-point. Everyone who's played it say it's a quality racing game at its core.
But it just looks so terrible on Switch.
I'll probably have to get the PC version later to make up for it. It's a real tragedy.
So af friend lent me a switch with only Indie games.
Hollow knight was fantastic, but Im bad at it so cant finish the DLCs.
Celeste is making me extremely mad.
Dead cells is pretty good.
The messenger is weird, I enjoy talking with the shopkeeper more than playing the game.
the trailer they released is hilariously misleading
youtube.com
can't do that though as the one I have that's faulty is a red right joycon, which aren't sold separately..
I knew that anyway. I never expected the Switch version to be 60fps. Anyone expecting that was just fooling themselves.
But I don't think hoping for a relatively smooth 30fps racing game that otherwise looks crisp was too much to ask for. The fading in of trackside elements is utterly embarrassing.
They're promising some sort of day one patch but who knows if that'll help. All I have to go on right now is some very sorry footage.
Fast RMX looks better and runs at 1080p 60fps even in split screen.
No, it is absolutely not delusional to expect someone to try a little harder when 2 german dudes in their basements did a better job.
I downloaded a whole bunch of stuff but all I'm in the mood for is Hollow Knight.
I have that too but I don't like that much as a game. It's alright but it only holds my attention for about 40 minutes at most.
I was just playing it yesterday, actually (in anticipation of Xenon Racer, no less).
Just ordered a switch because I got fired today and need to forget about reality for a couple of u weeks
what are some good games? Already planning hollow knight
>I never expected the Switch version to be 60fps. Anyone expecting that was just fooling themselves.
Not really considering I fully expected it to run 60 fps docked.
IX.
To each their own, whenever I boot up Fast RMX I feel like playing through all the cups in one session and end up playing for almost 2 hours.
The point still stands about visuals and performance. Neo Kyoto is more visually pleasing than that generic city in the Xenon footage and it never dips a single time.
Breath of the Wild
Nothing
FAST RMX was tailor-made for Switch (well, really Wii U but the architectures of both seem to be very in line with one another). This was ported across from platforms with a notably higher spec.
What they should have done is contracted the porting to a secondary house. The similarities to working between PS4, XB1, and PC aren't difficult but if they wanted to do it right, the Switch version should have been done in a different paradigm to ensure quality.
Anything less well known you like?
That looks terrible.
What games do you play because what I consider a good game could be different for you
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Steamworld Dig 2
Dead Cells
i've been playing chocobo's mystery dungeon. currently working on the clocktower dungeon and a few other side things - finally unlocked the thief job. hopefully the rest of the bosses in this game won't be as ridiculous as leviathan was.
>At the end I was kind of sad to say goodbye.
that's how you know you've played a really good jrpg.
Kind of to be expected when you're dealing with an HD port of a game with prerendered graphics. The background is just a picture.
Surprised they managed to find assets to upscale for the REmake and RE0 ports.
I've been considering picking up chocobo's mystery dungeon, how has it been so far?
Five year old games that you can pay twenty dollars for instead of getting them for a dollar on Steam like every other Switch owner.
Is outlast for the switch good? I loved that game when it came out.
also kinda interested in skyrim
>Famicom Emulator App
How?
The better choice is to play the original
I don't disagree. I've got it on my PSP (although I never play it).
it's great - especially if you liked pokemon mystery dungeon, since the new "buddy system" makes it play more like that.
jap account lets you go on the jap eshop
Anyone here still buy physical games? Just got BOTW so I’m playing that, and so far it’s just as good as everyone has been telling me. Next game I get will probably be Xenoblade 2 or Dragonball FighterZ. I want to try more fighting games and JRPGs. Really hoping Mortal Kombat 11 runs well on the Switch.
Dead Cells run great on Switch.
I’m waiting for Diablo 3 to go down in price but you could always give Paladins a shot it runs at 60 FPS so it feels pretty good for a shooter
Beat Blaster Master Zero 2 last night, great stuff. Now I'm gonna mess around with puzzle games I'm trash at, and play Salmon Run and some Taiko.
Only games off screen are Katamari Damacy and Sonic Mania.
Those are some real good games user. I've been meaning to try out Metal Slug for ages, but I'd either just be credit feeding or take ages to beat it with a limit so I'm not sure what I want to do.
>Celeste is making me extremely mad.
Why's that user, I find games that give you as quick a restart as Celeste does don't piss me off very much.
I always buy physical, I really need to get a case like that like I have for my 3DS games though.
Midgar...
we’re almost home bros...
I'm looking forward to tomorrow night.
>Hopefully the rest of the bosses in this game won't be as ridiculous as leviathan was.
Prepare to get your shit destroyed by some of the later challenge dungeons.

I keep my games in the case I got for my switch like I do with my 3ds
Dunno of I should prepurchase FF7 or the Ace Attorney Trilogy...
What do you guys recommend?
How the fuck do you have the switch show all of your games like this?
I can't make it past the 3 levels in Nuclear Throne. I've probably only done it twice and immediately died.
Don't get dragonball fighterz unless you have friends to play with. Online's already dead for the game. Story mode is a chore, Arcade stops being fun after a while. GT Kid goku dlc killed any interest I had in the game.
Neither. The AAT is shit looking and not exclusive. And FF7 should have had a physical release for max irony.
Just go to the far right on the main page.
Does anyone else feel the Story Mode is too short? I remember Planet Robobot being longer.
Same. I played a lot of it on steam but the joycon controls like ass
I used to do that with my DS, never got a 3DS case or a Switch case though. Maybe I'd get one if I saw one that looked cool, but I don't go out much, and I'd probably rather just shove my vita in my pocket over taking my switch anywhere.
Have more than 12 games and go all the way to the right.
>try to play bayo 2 again after beating on wii u
>piece of shit pro controller stops working
I hope sega listen to that survey they had and just port this to pc
Skyrim is great on the Switch. Comfy to play in bed (I promise I'm not Todd)
Well then what should I get? I got $30 to spare :/
I agree, Skyrim for switch is surely the best version yet
I'm playing on pro and not having that bad of a time control wise. Just something about it is fucking me up. I platted Gungeon on ps4
Playing through DOOM. Wanting to get Katamari, hope it goes on sale soon
Got my switch in early january with BotW, Splatoon, Odyssey and Smash, haven't gotten past splatoon
Honestly I wish I had gotten into nintendo consoles earlier, I would have loved to see the miiverse
at least you expect the challenge dungeons to be hard going in. leviathan was a regular boss fight in a normal dungeon.
It doesnt makes me mad enough to drop it, but its just very hard for me at least, especially because I played a lot of hollow knight and Deadl cells and all 3 games have different button for the Dash/roll so I fuck up a lot more than I should.
That sounds a tad more infuriating then, well keep at it you'll get there eventually. Or drop it on one of the B sides because you're bad like I am.
Will Cuphead get a physical release in Europe?
They aren't bonus dungeons, you're expected to clear them early on along with the main game ones.
Updated my list, just added onto my old picture so there are going to be some duplicates.
But keep I mind I have physical and digital of some games. (They deserve the sales) so not all duplicates are the same.
How's the DOOM port? I'm not as picky about 30fps vs 60fps as others here. I wanna know what gyro feels like, too
i know. i've already done a bunch of them. i'm currently up to charlotte's (which is really hard because of the 1hp limit) and chocobo dungeon 2 cid's (which i'm underleveled for).
Charlotte's easy, some of the later ones will kick your ass.
You have the exact same library I do except for the VOEZ demo and Metal Slug. That's freaky.
That's a lot of games. Is switch your only console?
Is Death Road to Canada any good? The physical has me mildly interested, but it just seemed a bit boring as far as rogue lites go from watching gameplay.
It's fun in co-op, but it didn't hold me enough to play repeatedly like in Enter the Gungeon.
