My experience with JRPGs is rather limited, but I thought Persona 5 was an experience with poor pacing & too much useless fluff, seemingly at the expense of intricate dungeon design & evolution of its combat system since the earlier iterations. Maybe i'm not the target audience for it though, not really into all the social stuff in Persona, but gave it a go anyway

I unironically hate Persona, and god, I have tried to like it. It's by far the series I have forced myself to like the most, and failed. Persona is more like a VN disguised as an jrpg than anything else. 4 had fucking ONE AND A HALF HOURS of highschool anime cutscene before it gave me control of the character, 5 also feels like a long boring ass anime without barely giving me control. Those crap aren't games.
The OST is godlike tought. Someone that hates the game saying that only proves it's actually true.

I wouldn't agree. I would say it might have the best gameplay of the persona series, but it still isn't that great. And the story isn't that great, especially with the context of having played the previous games. It's especially bad that atlus can't make a decently paced story still.
