I own a gaming PC and an X, and i spend way more the xbox. I've been with xbox since it first launched and I have no reason to abandon most of that for PC. I have no idea why people assume that most people will drop all of their friends behind for a new console/hardware. My friend that just built a PC now and is playing nothing but runescape alone, because nobody else wanted to switch to PC either though we all have one. Only times I use my PC are for pirating for playing games no on xbox.

When did I ever say I didn't have a playstation? I bought one the summer of 2017 and play it a fair amount, the same as I play my switch a fair amount. The ps4 is the first sony console I've ever owned though, and it's not that bad.
I was given a 360 as a gift like 9 or so years ago and it was pretty shit so I returned it in a few weeks, and that's by far the best xbox to exist. Huge and bone are 100% garbage.

I have an Xbox One X (switched from base PS4) and while I like it right now, I think one has to admit that clearly Microsoft doesn't care at all about giving you any reason to own an Xbox anymore if you already have a PC.

What exactly is Microsoft's strategy here? None of the studios they're acquired are what I'd call good developers, much less ones capable of producing triple-A blockbusters to compete with Sony. And their existing studios are busy making stale rehashes of last-gen franchises. There's a reason why Epic sold Gears to Microsoft, and why Bungie bailed. It's because Gears and Halo were temporary fads that are very much played out. And with Stadia releasing this year, and no sign of Microsoft's own streaming service, they missed the boat on that party too.

At this point, I don't see any way Microsoft can turn things around. Note that I don't think Sony's games are actually good, but they are undeniably massive blockbuster successes, the kind of which Microsoft can only dream of.

I just bought an Xbox one S because I’m dying to play some Halo again, and I really want to play Forza. It’s also cool to replay gears and check our Crackdown 3 which is highly underrated. I’m pretty happy with the purchase.

I only have a 2014 Mac so pc gaming is out of the question.

I got an xbone for obvious reasons: I had a 360 last gen and I wanted to keep my gamertag, most of friends had also 360s,
and I actually thought they were going to deliver on most of their promises, but they screwed me over. I bought an xshit hoping mostly for a fable title and scalebound looked like a promising exclusive which could have led to more interesting exclusives, but so far we have only got multiplats and the few exclusives are really shitty imo. At least xbox has the most powerful console (which is not even the one I own).

Microsoft knows that they don't have a leg in the handheld department, so they have some games published on handheld Nintendo consoles. What I want is MS and Nintendo to start using Cross save between the two consoles, so I could play games like Cuphead on my Xbox, and when I take it on the go with Switch, I could continue my progress.

Gamepass is literally the best. I chill with a bunch of my flatmates and play switch and xbox, and when we play xbox the guy just goes to gamepass and picks a game for us to play. We were playing mortal kombat and fuzion frenzy recently. If Microsoft markets this subscription more they'll make billions from it. Its literally Netflix for games and it's perfect.

I think the guys at MS are realizing that, as mega billion dollar corporation, they don't really need to compete head-to-head with Sony in order to make big bucks in gaming. They can still produce their own console hardware but push for multiplat PC releases.

Gamepass really is the best thing they've done in a while.
I finished so many games thanks to it that I would have never gotten otherwise. It has actually made me PLAY games instead of shitposting on Yea Forums.

at the end of the day for the people who want to bitch about console wars those xbox games are still console exclusive. i very much doubt these games being on pc will effect their console sales much assuming the games are good. that kid who wants to play fable is still going to ask his dad to buy him an xbox to play it.

MS exclusive sell much better on Xbox than PC, so much so that Gears needed Crossplay with xbox to have a population. Halo might been an outlier because PC owners have been asking for it since 2007, but other than that, I dont except much from PC sales.

See the sales chart i don't see any Xbox(or PS4) players getting the console for exclusives at all.
In fact many games getting crossbuy and crossplay means the multiplayer community will be more active for both Xbox&PC players, so i don't see Xbox players getting anything bad due to sharing their games to PC(and upcoming Switch).

having friends on a platform is more than enough of a reason to own one. multiplayer is one of the best gaming experiences imo. also you could use services like gamepass to test out new xbox games to see if you like it. you can also stream your pc to xbox now so it can be your in home streaming device.

Those sound pretty good. The number one things though that could make me buy an Xbox is if it got fable 4 as an exclusive.

Microsoft is probably the only console that can get game streaming done properly. I don't know if you can transfer your PS3 save to PSnow to play on PS4, but I know that with Google doing their own thing, it would have it own ecosystem meaning you can't bring your older games with it and you would have to start over. MS is giving you the ability to stream the games you already own to other platforms, so you don't losing any progress is what separates it from the other ones.
I don't like the idea of streaming being the norm, but I rather MS, Sony, and Nintendo have their own streaming service for their own ecosystem than a every company out there trying to force you to start from scratch.

microsoft not only has a much bigger server infrastructure than google they also have patents for some of the most advanced streaming tech. they also have nearly 20 years in the gaming industry and will actually be able to provide games on their service from 20 years ago till now. google's streaming service is based on linux and vulkan. all your old dx11/dx9 games will flat out not work on it unless the devs patch in a vulkan renderer. they won't be able to use an API wrapper because that introduces problems of its own. microsoft are by far an away in the top position for streaming and potentially for console hardware.
