What are some video games that were well received on release but people started being more critical of them and are now considered trash?

ever game made by rockstar

N64 trash

No, even that got it’s share of negative backlash back then.

Bioshock Infinite
The Last of Us
Resident Evil 5

Fallout 3

Isnt EP1 the opposite of this?

Also any 3D PS1 game.

Every game.

Nah, normalfags and brainlets still hate it.

That's because the movie is retarded, even for a star wars film.

Bioshock Infinite is the only example I can think of where an 'official' outlet revised its score downward after release.
People also initially went nuts for Super Circuit because HOLY SHIT PORTABLE MARIO KART but since then it's generally regarded as the weakest one.

Sekiro
Red Dead Redemption 2

Episode 1 was a joke when it was released, it was fun but still a mess. The PC version wasn't bad though. The PSX version was purely played for the lulz to be had on tatooine

90% of N64 best games.

redditlettermedia pls

No one will ever be able to make a coherent argument as to why Episode 1 is supposedly "bad", because it isn't. There is literally no argument to support that opinion and never has been.

that game was actually awesome
I played it before seeing the movie and it made me so hyped for episode 1

No it didn't zoomer. Everyone in my grade dressed as Darth Maul that Halloween.

It wasn't well received, zoomer

Star Wars in general is bad and the only reason anyone likes it is because of childhood nostalgia.

The Phantom Menace is bad too, but it’s not really worse than any of the others.

>the kids liked it!
Well yeah they liked the Last Jedi too
Much like TLJ, everyone else thought it sucked

Most games from that era have aged badly, but it's mainly to do with graphics or that there's been a ton of other games that built on those foundations, so for the most part I wouldn't consider them trash, just outdated.

With Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo Tooie on the other hand, the passage of time has revealed this games to be utterly broken even in terms of their basic structure

My dad liked it and he saw Empire in theaters.

Fallout 4

>well received on release
only if you were literally ten years old at the time
everyone else hated it

You sir, have been
D U M P S T E R E D

>linking Roger Ebert as any sort of quality assesment
He has always been the contrarian. The Armon White of his time. Only brainlets took him seriously while he was the guy that called Hellraiser "uncreative".
Literally Nostalgia Critic's rolemodel too.

Borderlands 2

Have you actually read the review or does your ADHD doomer brain only allow you to look at the stars? It literally says in the first paragraph that most critics disliked it.

>he was the guy that called Hellraiser "uncreative"
Oooooo how dare he.

Nope, but good to know you have bad taste. You're probably a weeb.

I still love episode 1 and all its games, there wasn't a better time to play SW games than when the prequels were coming out and I say this as 30yo who lost hours playing Battlefront 2. But this is a controversial opinion ofc.

Ikr

Yeah and third graders are dressing as Kylo Ren now, I guess that means TLJ is actually good.

Get a load of this retard

How old are you guys? People were talking about that movie for a long time. Ask any boomer, the Clone Wars was when everyone turned on Georgie. People used to wear shirts with the Naboo starfighter everywhere.

Heay Rain.

>I managed to find two (2) positive reviews that means it wasn't hated!
now go ask literally anyone born before January 1st 1990 whether they liked it or not, doomer

This pinball machine. I think.

>fans excitedly talking about the movie before actually watching it
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO

Dark Souls 2

Phantom Menace was fairly well received at first from what I remember. It's a strange movie and there was a bit of apprehension, but for the most part it was enjoyable enough as a standalone movie and people were willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as it was in part just setting up the trilogy.

When ATOC came out, the flaws of TPM were no longer forgivable since the excitement of what was coming next was gone, and what actually came next was genuinely shit

Legitimate 33 year old boomer here. The movie was universally panned by everyone but children and who gives a shit what children (your peers) thought?
