Can we get an old gamer thread?
>need to stick my face right up to the monitor to read text because I can't see it anymore
I'm 35 and play Fortnite with my niece
Ask me anything
>women
>playing games for fun and not attention
kek
Can you show us your niece's feet?
What retarded and filthy animal goyim
why are you remaking this exact same thread with the same exact image you attention seeking fuck?
Does it even slightly bother you that your eyesight is crap due to starring at a screen for years? You neets are so beyond ok with ruining your bodies, its fucking disgusting and makes every functioning member of society want to punch you. Nigger.
>why are you remaking this exact same thread with the same exact image
First day on Yea Forums, eh
I’m 35
I spent the whole weekend not playing games except for a gatcha
I spent the mornings watching timeranger with my Gf and I spent the evening while she was at work working on my Plex server.
this is how i felt when i played dr1 on my crt
>take care of my posture and wrist
>take breaks and go outside
>work out regularly
>healthy diet
>go to sleep early
lmaoing @ ur life right now
Good for you. Im being serious.
Get some fucking glasses you dip
>young me
>can take physical punishment and quickly heal
>old me
>hit my knee against a table 6 weeks ago and it still fucking hurts
Getting old sucks
Dead Rising being completely unreadable was pretty common. I didn't know anyone that could read any of that shit.
I never understood carpal tunnel, just get a fucking mousepad.
>got first computer in 92
>been playing vidya since
>have a lot of fond memories of old games from the 90's and early 00's
>go and play some of them again
>they're nowhere near as good as I remembered and some are downright awful
Not sure if it's nostalgia or more tastes changing
I could read it because I had a giant ass crt tv from the early 00's somebody was giving away because flats were becoming commonplace.
Getting it out the door was a pain in the ass, glad Dead rising 2 was better now that I got the fucking controller support to work but NOBODY IS PLAYING IT ONLINE.
When does getting older start for you guys?
I've been waiting for it for almost 2 decades now but has not even started.
I take okay care of myself though, so I am thinking I will start noticing it in my early 40s?
You have let Yea Forums effect you too much. I suggest taking a break from the site.
Even if you're 'old' you can chose to live a healthy life. Take care of your body everyone.
It's exclusive to WoW players who are expected to mash buttons in sequence for hours at a time without stopping for a pull at the slot machine. They deserve it DESU.
Saying FFRK is gacha is a pretty big lie, imo. This game is so f2p friendly and easy that I refuse to call it a gacha.
I played Fortnite and i caught the carpal tunnel.
>old games make more sense than newer ones
>like the look of old games compared to newer ones
I had a boomer moment in DMCV where I couldn't figure out his to shoot then grapple to the other rooftop
I played every other DMC so IDK why this confused me
some old games just aren't good or don't age well, for example, one of my favorite games growing up was DEVIL MAY CRY 2. I knew some of the bosses and old things were tedious and awful but we powered through it back in the day, and looked at dmc3 with skepticism. Now nobody can even play dmc2, didn't stop tiny me from liking it or Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.
Getting Lasik surgery in 20 minutes
I'll probably be raiding tomorrow night
I do push ups and stretches at least before playing serious FPS shooters, but I also make sure to play at low sensitivities where I can use arm muscles that are trainable rather than high sens where you're basically just using wrist and guessing (though I got pretty good at guessing using wrist as a kid, you just can't do that getting older)
play low sensitivity with a big mousepad. You'll use your arm and train it, can still aim with wrist just do it minimally
there are these big ass mousepads what you can put near or even under your keyboard.
in older games you had to use your imagination to get certain things, also there were those urban legends what you heard from others, what were sometimes true. I often find myself in a situation where solving a puzzle is piss easy and I overcomplicate things. I still remember that Skyrim quest when you needed to insert the claw and all you had to do is just look at it and rotate it. I thought you have to look at the paintings on the wall to figure them out since they had similar things in it. Damn I felt like an idiot, but I would prefer if my solution was the case.
But DMC1 is perfectly playable today, an even older game. You can't just apply blanket statements like "games age" because its not true.
I know, I’ve played since launch and complete 99% of content and never spent a penny.
I just call it that because I’m tired of faggots REEEEEing when I don’t call it a gotcha.
people who play fps at high sensitivities using their wrist get it really easy
Are you a pedophile?
I'm on my mid 30s and never get eye strain. Clean/mop your fucking room.
Also you had over a decade to learn to position your arm/hand properly to avoid carpal tunnel.
reading in modern games has become a pain because the ui always has ridiculous tiny text. Makes me feel far older than what I really am.
Devilnetta games and twitch shooters highlight my reaction time getting worse every year, it's depressing sometimes cause I feel like a pleb when I used to be at the top of the scoreboard 9 times out of 10. I feel ancient and I'm not even 30 yet
>playing The Division 2
>some main mission in a lab
>shot some panels to open doors, first time this basic yet rare mechanic comes up
>one of the doors only has a panel on the inside of the room, but you can see it through a window
>it even says panel detected when you get close
>I don't notice it and moved around the area a thousand times, even backtracked a bit
Games have been holding my hand for too long with quest markers, I can't even do basic shit anymore.
28 playing Tibia right now in my free two hours a day.
How's the sex?
>obsession with twitch numbers
>obsession with streamers
>pointless eceleb drama
>devs need to constantly pump out blogs or faggots will cry about no communication
>everything is datamined the moment a game releases
worst timeline
why would you willingly play shit and let your niece play as well?
>go to sleep early
laaaame
30+ here and no problems so far.
Just get a good chair(No cocacola plastic chairs and your kitchen chairs aren't good) and posture and you will be fine.
Also f.lux for your monitor and a screen with LED backlight that doesn't flicker.
I would tell you to go walk outside too but most of you barely leave your chair for sure.
>friends constantly want me to get the latest looter shooter, survival game, or br game so we can all squad up
>all of them feel the same and I get bored easily, so I stop getting them
>barely play with them anymore, and they keep playing the latest ones
Is it an age thing? Those games just feel like work to me.
Bet u dont even play reflex arena KID
beat u 1 on 1 in any of your "serious" shooters... Baby mode cpma/qc/qw/q3/ut99/ut2k4/gaylo/xonotic/warsow/nexuiz
Eh, my eyes were always shit.
What I can't stand is how I'm out of gaming buddies. Everyone is busy elsewhere or have fucked off with gaming altogether. It has become an extremely lonely habit.
>Games have been holding my hand for too long with quest markers, I can't even do basic shit anymore.
I played Heroine Quest recently. It doesn't track any quests or anything like that. You have to keep track of it yourself, whether writing it down or using your fucking brain, but I forgot so much of what I was doing.
Luckily, if you just keep going in those kinds of games then you generally pick up everything you need.
I've lived like a degenerate for years, going to sleep between 4 and 6 am.
Now I get up at that time and baby, I've never felt better in my entire life.
F.lux is botnet use RedShift
>Literally impossible to avoid spoilers unless you go offline from the world
>YouTube recommendations spoiling shit with thumbnails
It's fucking ridiculous the lengths I have to go to avoid spoilers for x
They are, your friends arw dumb niggers. For what its worth i am sure they drop them a couple weeks/months in. This but unironically.
Go to reddit, you sound like a cringey teenager,
Everyone is on discord and is harder to make friends organically through game chat.
Bruce Willis is a ghost.
Given that smartphones have time-of-day-based light filters as a standard feature and fucking everything will ask for your location these days, I'm surprised it isn't naturally built into Windows.
This kinda happened to me with Dragon's Dogma
I was also playing Assassin's Creed Origins recently and had to force myself to not use the quest marker. I have to. Do it for most open world games, force myself to look at the world instead of the compass or mini map so much.
I was initially glad that gaming was going mainstream, but as the hobby was flooded with normalfags and later normalfag kids, I stopped being "The weird guy who likes games" and became "The weird OLD guy who likes WEIRD games".
Lol they do drop them that fast, though they quickly buy the latest one as a replacement.
>here, I'll mark the location on your map
>I've also sent my son to the exact location to create signal fire that you should be able to follow no matter where you are, even if you lose or forget how to open your map
Nothing wrong with quest markers.
Don't get lasik user, it's only being offered cheap because it is on the way out compared to the superior option, lens replacement. And to top it off, having lasik means you can't have lens replacement done in the future.
This exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I ran around the lab for a good 10-15mins looking for that last piece of data
>on Yea Forums
>functioning member of society
For Origins it's frustrating because they keep reminding you to use the eagle or the game will automatically do it to you if you get close enough
They did a better job with Odyssey
Not him but been thinking of LASIK, why can’t they replace the lens once it’s altered like that?
>your eyesight is crap due to starring at a screen for years?
back in my day nerds ruined their eyesight by reading books
Yes I can, because it's true. Plenty of games don't age well, like DEVIL MAY CRY 2.
Something about it permanently reshaping your cornea, so lens replacements won't fit properly compared to a normal eye.
Don't even start with youtube thumbnails. It's always some faggot screaming or a bunch random text. Pure fucking cancer.
Why are you having sex with her?
Only the last version because they wanted to go "smart".
Windows version sucks, its there since 1803 but will fail every now and then.
How the fuck do you sit while gaming? I do this and feel like I’m fucking up my back
move your ass further back
>Google one small thing about Sekiro
>Youtube feed is suddenly full of lategame boss spoilers
For fuck's sake
Posting on this website already means you failed, retard.
This. Staying up late was great because it was a novelty as a kid. Now? A good night's sleep most nights is priceless.
the state of gacha fags
>27 years old
>unemployed for the past few months
>playing single player action games and JRPGs almost exclusively
>tfw barely interacting with anyone even online because my online friends have full time work
Waiting for Cross Tag Battles new DLC to come out so I at least have an excuse to try interacting with others some more.
Stand up or get a stability ball to sit on, all chairs are bad for you in the long run.
Wait, what? I don't remember the words being blurry in that game.
It sneaks up on you in your 30's.
I went back to gaming on a CRT & my eyes hurt LESS now for some reason. If you're old & don't play on a CRT I don't know what's wrong with you.
Early days of HD console gaming were fucking awful for readability. Like the second 720p became standard UI designs just decided that literally everyone must have fuckhuge megascreens, and made all the text in games tiny as shit. When I got SF4 vanilla I couldn't read ANYTHING because I just had a fucking 20 inch CRT.
>tfw shit just hurts for no reason
>tried to go back to gaming on a CRT a while ago
>couldn't deal with the tube buzz
Once you stop being used to it I guess you just can't go back. How much older do I need to get before I stop being able to hear that fucking buzz?
I'm mid-late thirties now though.
All my great-grandparents lives to late 90s-triple digits though and grandparents are alive and vital, so that probably helps.
>play Diablo
>feel carpal tunnel building up
>"I should stop playing Diablo for today"
>open Path of Exile
To be fair you could just load up some noskill build and fly through content on a single button via flicker strike or something.
Goku kills Thanos and then dabs with Scooby Doo and Secret Squirrel
>Is it an age thing? Those games just feel like work to me.
It is in that as part of getting older you have to take responsibility for your friends and become a sort of dad/leader for them when it comes to fun.
Your average fuck is exhausted after work and just wants to braindead some dopamine into their system anyway no matter how boring the task is and friends are the easiest source of that feelgood chemical even if its something stupid like drinking beer and watching paint dry.
Here is what i had to do to stop my friends from being MOBA/Survival/battleroyal losers
>looked up tutorials on setting up sven coop dedicated server to play custom coop maps
>looked up how to play gamecube online on pc so we could play digimon world 4
>looked up how to play dragons dogma online so we could coop the campaign
>setup times and dates for group events like watching kungpow for the 1000th time or binge watching the original dragon ball while we played something like minecraft or an MMORPG
Im currently trying to encourage my friends to exercise so that they are not exhausted after work and that way I can shift small amounts of group responsibility onto them because at the moment it is just a never ending battle of me leading them around to games that are fun for the whole group and not just stupid shit that makes everyone angry and bored.
>try Apex Leggos
>can barely aim my guns
>people shoot me from accross the map before I even see them
>kids screaming in voice chat
Yeah, am too old for this shit. I will just play my 4x and turn based RPGs like the 30 years old boomer I am.
follow up to this, i would like to add that im not forcing my friends to play with me. All I do is suggest shit when they ask and my friends have gone from absolutely hating each other because of all the losing in apex legends to actually laughing and having fun after work. One of my buddies finally gained the confidence/life to divorced his garbage wife because he realized what it was like to enjoy life again instead of just going through the motions.
It is important to help your friends have fun and stay away from braindead games like apex legends, fortnite, league of legends, and so on
>Load up l4d2 after years of not playing
>Keep hitting my teammates unintentionally
>"user stop throwing on purpose"
How do I shoot stuff?
the guns in apex legend are designed to miss as much as possible outside of the Peacekeeper which is always on target. The game is designed around close quarters fighting and even with a fully kitted gun you are going to see the majority of good players getting in close or rushing because of how horrible the accuracy of automatic weapons are
>Join TF2 as Scout
>"Hey old man user just joined lets take it slow for him so he can catch up!"
>....*milk splash*
>POW POW POW POW POW POW POW POW
>Kill six of them in their front that weren't paying attention after FaN-jumping their sewers
>boom bringer taunt in front of their spawn door
Never underestimate the bored 32 year old when he isn't drunk, high or arguing with his wife while gaming with you.
Born in the late 80s, I'm usually dead-center or a little past the median of the age range of millennials. Probably because I work in healthcare I'm always incentivized to keep an eye on things. Get my CMP, CBC, A1C, cholesterol/organs looked at. Stopped eating like shit, watching my processed red meat and carb intake, and started exercising more regularly cause I can't just tank this shit on an adolescent's metabolism and a natural proclivity towards muscle tone. Now it's just water, black coffee or plain tea these days. I've got no long-term health issues or family history for me to be worried about but it's scary seeing people your age damaged through their own life decisions. I had a friend hospitalized after his legs started swelling and his skin started turning the color of a freshly baked pastry. His fratboy-level(literally, he was in a fraternity in college) drinking habits had caught up with him and he only just barely avoided having permanent liver damage and kidney failure. But it's even scarier seeing people fall apart through no fault of their own. Seen a guy, helped get /fit/ in high school, last time I saw him he had somehow ballooned to over 400 pounds. Cancers destroyed his organs, died before he was even 24. The random cruelty of the universe.
But at the same time, I live in a major US city surrounded by other millennials so between indie game stores and all the bars regularly running Smash Bros/Mario Kart stuff when sports isn't going on it's not hard to find people with an interest in vidya deeper than a diet of "Call of Duty/Fortnite/Halo, AAA cinematic experience, annual sports game, whatever Rockstar put out recently."
It does hurt a little when it's harder to find time with your old friends to link up, and when you do, they're only interested in the aforementioned category of "popular multiplayer shooter." Everything I know about Overwatch I learned against my will.
The older you get the more you start to develop this "overdrive" mode with gaming where you basically berzerker all of your faults that make you suck due to being old... for about five minutes. I can't keep it up forever but I can hang for a little while, then the eye-wiping and heavy breathing subsides.
im a zoomer and i hate how tiny text got with the ps4 and 1080p being everywhere.
Im a zoomer and I eat healthy because i hate taking smelly, greasy shits
>still have old recorded ut/cs/tribes 2 footage from 15+ years ago
>I actually haven't gotten worse, I was never that good and just had a higher opinion of my ability when I was younger
on the plus side I used to be a chieftain shitter back then and I can reliably win on immortal now
Your chest is supposed to be hitting your desk.
I'm 30 years old and starting to notice I only play games when I get into an addiction loop. I played Dead by Daylight for over 1500 hours, took a break for two months (started dating), now I went back and I don't find it fun at all. Played Apex Legends for 3-4 hours a day in the first week of release, trying to unlock a character for free, took a break, now I don't care. Also seems alien to me that I used to care if people trashed me on the mic or threatened to report me.
My grandpa told me when I was 10 years old that when I grow up I'm going to not give a shit about video games and I guess the old boomer was right. I only play games now late at night, right before bed, instead of watching Netflix.
Stop having sex with her. I'm her brother.
>youtube finally forces me to update phone app
>video closes to YT frontend if I minimize for too long to do something in another app, have to track it down again every time
>app closes if I clicked a link to a video and try to exit it to YT home page
>app randomly decides whether or not to go full screen in horizontal
Am I a boomer now or is this shit just fucked because Samsung?
I am a sick man... I am a spiteful man. I am an unpleasant man. I think my pancreas is diseased.
I'm not ruining my body as much as normalfags do with alcohol.
Bit younger than you but in a similar boat, over time I've kind of "outgrown" video games. Not in a conscious or pretentious way, just tastes change and you start to get excited about other things. I still play path of exile as a timewaster.
The only thing that sucks is as this happens to me and my close friends and we don't all get into the same game, gaming time dwindles. Sucks even worse when we all live spread out now and that gaming time was our only regular meaningful connection.
Increase windows ui and text to 200%, then in firefox hold crtl and mouse scroll wheel up to increase the size again to 200%, now you may be able to see a bit better.
>The only thing that sucks is as this happens to me and my close friends and we don't all get into the same game, gaming time dwindles. Sucks even worse when we all live spread out now and that gaming time was our only regular meaningful connection.
I can also relate with this. We'd play games every other night for 3-4 hours and it was a great way to connect, catch up, and hang out without actually hanging out (too much distance and we live in a boring area with nothing to do but eat). Now all of us are bored with games and only play like once or twice a month, just for the sake of conversation.
