Killing a mob 'higher leveled than you' is what qualifies you for the chance to obtain light from them. So you pull the level 24/25 mobs around the lower bunny fate and sync to the fate the instant you kill them which puts you at level 23. Same principle behind how people were cheesing blu leveling by killing an overworld mob with their main jobs, then job changing to blu before the server processes the xp allocation.
The rate at which the nearby mobs give light is fairly unique to each mob too, like the wolves proc frequently at a feeble rate, yarzons/walruses proc uncommonly but its always 1 bar at the minimum when it does, 3-6 bars if it lands on a multiple of 5 chain, etc. They're all roughly as good as each other on average so pick the one you like.

that depends on how dancer turns out. given they are likely slashing damage, it means ninja would be to dancer what dragoon is to bard.

if dancer can put up support levels at or near bard, then dragoon will lose its spot in raids as you could bring a heavier dps as you don't need to buff the mandatory bard

average queue is ~15 minutes for dps. there's several 'roulettes' that continously funnel higher level players into older content so it will never really be longer than that

For dungeons DPS queues generally won't be a problem, no longer than 20-30m usually, there's enough people doing daily roulettes or queueing on their own as they progress through the main story. Your bigger problem will likely be from Black Mage being really awkward to get into content for the first time with, since knowing the fight lets you sit down somewhere more optimally and react better to incoming threats.

Do note BLM isn't impossible when first-timing things, it's just awkward. You'll get used to it if you're set on being one. Otherwise your-mileage-may-vary on all the DPS jobs, though you can't really go wrong with any of them, even universally-hated Machinist has its perks. Shadowbringers will heavily shake up most/all jobs and their rotations regardless, so find what you like and get comfortable with it.

Ninja is a support-slave melee DPS, Dragoon is the standard all other melee jobs are judged by and is about weaving oGCDs in between GCD attacks, Samurai is hugely powerful and revolves around three combo finishers with an Iaijutsu finisher ability, Monk is about punching fast and sustained DPS. Bard is ranged and cycles through three stance abilities that grant the Bard and its allies passive buffs, Machinist is about setting your GCDs up that you can cram upgraded GCDs and all your oGCDs into a 10-second window. Black Mage is about unga-bunga big dick damage and is the champion of AoE damage, Summoner is about DoT and AoE burst-damage once it gains Bahamut access, Red Mage is a safety net for other jobs since it can heal and raise and is the most mobile of the three casters.

I'm fine with the notion that Scholar doesn't need to be overwhelmingly strong compared to the other healers.
