Why is a game being difficult a good thing? There is literally nothing you can do in a video game that is an actual accomplishment, so what’s the point? Tricking yourself into thinking you did accomplish something?
>inb4 “durr hurr get good”
Literally not an argument
Why is a game being difficult a good thing...
If you are unable to find enough reward in a video game for you to commit to putting the effort necessary to see through its ending at least, but most commonly appreciate the game to its fullest potential, it may be that the game you're playing isn't worth the effort, but it could just be that your means of consuming the medium are shallow & you simply can't be expected to fully commit to it. That's okay, but do understand that you shouldn't be catered to.
>Tricking yourself into thinking you did accomplish something?
yes
if a game is too easy it gives you time to reflect on how fucking pathetic your current course of action is
video games need to be challenging (mentally occupying) enough to stave off that moment of realization
How many times will you make this thread today? If you hate video games so much, just stop playing them
There is literally nothing you (i.e. an average person with no top 0.01% talents) can do with your life that is an actual accomplishment, unless you count shitting out human larvae with a fatty next door as one.
Moviefags think way too highly of themselves. They can't even match up to music, much less literature. In addition, they have even more potential to be as dumb as video games, but without the interaction that actually differs it from other mediums.
If the game is too easy than it's not a game its a manually cranked movie. A challenging game can increase one's critical thinking and mental agility. What is your definition of a real accomplishment?
>Anyone with a need for beauty/truth
>Michael Bay movies
>Some shitty song that's popular for a week
>Trash romance books
The medium does not determine the "artistic" value of anything, it depends ln the individual piece.
>Reading jewish books
>Watching films made by jews
>Listen to the shit promoted by jews that is mainstream music
I think i will keep playing my holocaust simulator, thank you very much
I’m not saying a game shouldn’t be difficult, but a feeling of accomplishment shouldn’t be the reason. The only thing any medium of “art” can really offer the consumer is information, if that information helps you get food, shelter, sex, or the resources to get any of those things, even in a very indirect way, it is useful. If it doesn’t, it’s just taking advantage of faults in your psychology to strip money from your wallet
this is true but is also true for film and music.
Accomplishment is subjective OP, your goals and what's important to you can only really be determined by you, for some people it's lifting a lot of weight, for others it's breaking records in a hobby like speed running.
I'm with you honestly I'm never cared for achievements in video games and see them as something i could do without, but that doesn't detract that other people feel satisfaction from completing a game, probably because of the time invested and grinding or challenge it takes.
>Not aging out of movies
They're so fucking boring, just watching some chopped up and rushed story play out for two hours while it encourages you to not think about about what might happen next. Same shit with TV and more or less anime.
Just read the fucking source material.
>mentally unstimulating
So far video games help my mind feel like I am doing something way more than my work for an example. Really just dont play shit games or dont play games at all if you do not like them.
Good goy
Old thing good
New thing bad
i really really hate this image
Because game design is a complex art form like any other, and properly challenging games force you to understand and appreciate the artistry in the design through the course of playing. Exactly the same as why intellectually challenging literature, film and music is considered more culturally important and of greater quality than others.
>that artstyle
is this made by the same faggot that puts a million words in his comic?
Wow, how retarded does one have to be to create this image. It's like he's got some kind of video game trauma.
Disregarding games' inherent potential for doing the same (if not better) as all of the things he says "will never age out" is just idiotic. A game can be literature, just as much as it can be a movie, or even a song.
It's the ultimate artform.
Because some people actually like taking on challenges instead of getting babied? Also, it's not that I want to feel like I accomplished something. It's just that games that are difficult but fair are more engaging and fun for me because you can't just sit back and beat the game with no effort. If a game is too easy, it doesn't feel stimulating and gets boring quickly. I might as well watch a movie instead.
Why are Yea Forums and Yea Forums so scared and defensive about videogames?
It's because they fear that they're unavoidably going to be recognized as the inherently superior art form?
It is the atavic human fear of progress and evolution?
I'm sincerely curious.
