Some thoughts about 7 hours in, downed Butterfly and Firebull:

Pros
>gorgeous visuals
>decent music
>pretty good english voiceacting
>boss designs
>Emma
>massive areas with multiple approach options

Cons
>floaty movement (that awkward jump lol)
>pretty bad, weightless combat
>lack of weapon variety and builds turns out really is a problem
>some strange design decisions, like consistent putting tanky minibosses that oneshot you surrounded by gangs of trashmobs, and you have to either clear everything every time before fighting the guy, or sneak up to him, and pray that you dont aggro anything else while fighting him
>stealth aspect feels tacked on last minute
>all areas feel very samey so far, hopefully it improves as the game goes on, really tired of this japanese castle/mansion

Overall its a solid 6/10 so far, having a lot of fun with it for what it is while waiting for the next "real" souls game.

>opinions.
Neat.

7 hours and you've only reached that far?

Not sure what do you mean, I've beaten every boss so far on 1st or 2nd try haha, so if anything I'm probably really far in for that time played

Maybe youre not exploring in your game and just rushing through? Could be the explanation

Bump

Its the new hot mean to shit on people for taking their time with the game. Shitposters new angle is acting like journos took so long with the game because they are shit and that anyone who doesn't beat the game in under 20 hours is just garbage.

Zoomer here. What's the best soules-esque game to start with? I've been considering picking up either this, Bloodborne, or Dark Souls: RM.

>paying $60 dollarydoos for a 10 hour video game

Any except Dark Souls 2. They’re all good.

Demon’s Souls if you want something more akin to classic arcade games in structure, like Mega Man. Fairly minimalist, but in a good way.

Dark Souls if you like huge Metroidvania adventures and RPGs.

Bloodborne if you prefer horror over fantasy, and more visceral combat.

Dark Souls 3 if you want something more linear. It’s worth playing but maybe not the best starting place.

The first Dark Souls sound the best, but would Sekiro also be a good place to start? I like stealth in my games.

>pretty good english voiceacting
Why are burgers doing this?
They're the only ones who put up with shitty dub and actually defend it like it would kill them to listen to something different.

No it would be an overwhelming learning curve

>demons souls like mega man
>dark souls like metroid
WTF

I'm doing the japanese audio but I'm just skipping most of it because holy shit the line reads take years, and japanese has shit tier information density in the first place.

no it wouldn't. the combat system is completely different

same people who think naruto dub is good

Thanks for the advice, user. I'll start with the original.

>I've beaten every boss so far on 1st or 2nd try haha

how to spot someone who hasn't gotten past chained ogre

how do i git gud at this game? am i supposed to block everyone's attacks untill the red symbol appears to strike them? or do i just go agressive and attack them while occasionally dodging/blocking?

>How to spot a Tendie
Give it a rest already. You babbies already shitposted the game the whole month before the game's release, enough is enough. It's fucking immature to harbor a seething hateboner towards a game just because there's no Switch port. Grow the fuck up.

You can bait most enemies into doing basic attacks instead of combos or perilous attacks but it only works once or twice.

you have to keep attacking them and deflect when they're about to hit. you can't just turtle and deflect and you can't just mash attack, you have to do both at the same time

i thought it was bad at first but after beating the game i went from 5/10->8.5/10. It get's so much deeper and better. Shoot for the true ending if you can (hint: claim your free rice and eat it immediately always). The visuals are fantastic, and after you understand the combat it gets wayyy better. This game is ALL about breaking your opponent's posture. Focus on that after they drop below 50% hp where the decay isn't that fast.

>Playing with English Dub
Big yikes

>>all areas feel very samey so far, hopefully it improves as the game goes on, really tired of this japanese castle/mansion

>this game set in japan is too japanese :(

all the endgame locations except for the castle are unique and different

I don’t get why this game is so divisive. I guess the gameplay is different enough to bother people? I’ve legit seen multiple people saying it’s better than B.B. while others say it’s shit.

People refused to read the tutorial and are trying to play like it's Dark Souls or BB.

That or people who relied on summons are getting rightfully assblased. This game is now my official casual filter.

>You guys are really overreacting
Who is "You guys"?

Because it's hard and people are getting their ass handed to them. And so have I.

I think being unable to overlevel is a big factor. You can’t really control a games difficulty when you allow leveling and build diversity. With this game they can actually control the difficulty much more.

True. I bet that the game will be much easier a month or so from now when the optimal progression path is discovered.
