Just finished it last week, wasn't even that hard, the start was great but afterwards it was just boring and repetitive as fuck. Lost only one character and had him taken down from full health to dead before anyone in my party could act.

catalyst, while very helpful, doesnt actually guarantee a win nor does a lack of one guarantee a loss

it seems necessary to kill bosses act 2 and up quickly before taking a lot of damage even with enough block and debuff cards.

having an idea of what works and what doesn't, and each card's potential and how it fits into your current deck helps. Free your mind of templates and builds, you're going to be thrown DIFFERENT CARDS and DIFFERENT RELICS EVERY SINGLE RUN. If you keep pursuing the same build/template every time you're never going to get good. Sure' you'll get what your looking for offered to you 1 in 10 times, and that's how shitters like make it to a20 and think they're hot shit, but learning to work with what you get is what raises your winrate and actually teaches you how to be good at the game.

I wish they at least made him somewhat usable compared to the vestal.

I liked this game until the end. I had all items and maxed characters but at some point it felt boring and repetitive. I know it's indy and low budget but I would have prefer no level cap and more items, this would have make this game absolutely epic. imagine grinding your character level 6+ like having a fucking level 10 wipe everything out but knowing at any moment you can lose it

Salt and Sanctuary, I've been using polearms this whole playthrough and boy it took a long time to do real damage.
The Third Lamb as much easier to deal with using polearm and shield but the Wyvern Kraken was a real asshole.

Yes, beaten it without anyone dying, aside from crits for full health, only times I ever had someone hit death's door was when I had him instead of a vestal in my party.

Is it normal to feel like you hit a road block when all the dungeons are basically champion runs? I think I might've fucked myself by not having good enough party members.

Very disappointing game. The art is pretty, the soundtrack is good and the atmosphere is on point, but the gameplay is complete garbage. Play for 2 hours and you'll have seen everything there is to see, only there's like 40 more hours awaiting you if you want to actually complete it.

Occultist is very good at what he does; and what he does is Debuff and Mark Party Synergy with a strong if unreliable heal tacked to the side. He's got a pull, he's got a stun and even his regular attack can wreck Eldritch enemies with the right trinkets and traits.

He's by no means dominant and Vestal's ability to un-DD multiple party members at once is valuable, but he's hardly useless in comparison.

He's both unreliable as a healer and subpar at damage/utility. Marks are shit in nearly all cases and only somewhat good against bosses and by taking occultist into those missions, you're pretty much asking to be screwed over by his shitty healing.

does darkest dungeon take name of locations or people straight out of lovecrafts work? no? well then

I run Occultist with Arbalest more often than not and he synergizes reasonably well with other mark heros. Achieving MAXIMUM HEALING at deaths door is a problem, but often one I offset by increasing bleed resistances and being proactive about it, including running arbies bandage.

Keeping people alive with occultist relies on having a fast party and having a plan B. It's not easy to work around, but it does work.

The curse mechanic is interesting, but everything else about it is shit. The DLC maps themselves are garbage with dozens of fights with identical mobs that are both easy but also incredibly annoying due many monsters being both fast and prone to stress spamming.

Crimson court is an excellent dlc. Only brainlets bad at the game whine about it, and since DD is predominantly based on rng not skill you can really tell just how stupid these people are

I played it. My PC isn't top-of-the-line, but it's pretty good and runs most modern games on ultra settings without an issue - well, Hunt was an exception. It took me literal minutes to load the textures of a single object in front of me (I had plenty of time to sit and watch them load because my companion had killed the boss and we were camping while it was decomposing or whatever that mechanic is called). When my game wasn't running at 1 FPS, it was a great game, the best in the genre, as far as I know. Ironically, it's also unplayable.
I've read the forums and I know that a lot of people were suffering from the same issue. Have they made any effort to fix it?
