I'm interested in this game. Only soulsborne games I've played before are demon's souls and Bloodborne. How does it compare?

It focuses far more on it's combat system giving far more options and depth as well as far more ways to finetune your character with multiple interesting effects to build with. The areas are mission based rather than having a full world, and much of the story characters and lore are rooted in Japanese history and mythology, so you'll get more of a kick out of it if you know a bit about that. In general the game demands a much different approach, there's plenty to learn and enjoy if you want to actually learn and explore the combat (similar to DMC if anything), or if you disregard what the game offers and tries to teach (playing it like Souls) you'll have big problems until stumbling upon a broken strat giving an unfulfilling experience. You get out what you put in.

Same, thought I'm currently stuck because I just unlocked Way of the Wise and everything 1 shots me while I do no damage despite having my upgraded to the max for divine rarity. Even Living weapon no longer does any damage and 1 - 2 hits from any enemy knocks me out of it.

Maybe I've reached the point where I'm supposed to have a proper build.

Why the fuck are like 90% of the revenants wearing the Warrior of the West outfit?
Every now and then I see something different but I feel like I always have an inventory full of that set from killing them.

Revenants in NG and NG+ always either have Warrior of the West or Red Demon.

Later on you do see some different ones, a lot of mixed sets but I have no idea why.

It's an obvious to grind set with medium weight and simple yet strong effects, so many people that didn't want to think about their set took it. Those are the same kind of people to die and pass it on, and the same kind of people to gear mainly through revenants so it spread far and wide. Same reasons the Red Demon set replaces it later.

Fun game but some of the bosses felt cheap as shit. I personally had a harder time with it then any if te other souls games. I did like using the axe and Astarothing everything. I ROFL stomped every revenant I fought.

i played through the game and did some levels on higher difficulty.
really enjoyed it.
can't wait for the sequel/prequel
