The stat increases and healing upgrades are finite items, you can't just grind them to maximum.

Using a DS4 didn't work until I went into Big Picture mode in steam and configured controllers.

The latent skill that increases your healing recieved can be grinded out, same goes for all combat skills increasing your dmg/posture damage.

Sekiro's difficulty is front-loaded. Not to say that later bosses don't put up a challenge, but once the mechanics "click" for you and you stack up on attack and vitality/posture upgrades, the game becomes significantly more manageable. Just get past the ogre and bull[shit] and you'll be fine. The game opens up significantly once you get to the castle and you can start fighting bosses at your own pace.
