That I like it.

>cute girls
>action gameplay or groundbreaking unique mechanics
>praised by fans, panned by critics

>we're in the age where a 12.6gb install is good
i bet cinematic experience shit is to blame for this

>i bet cinematic experience shit is to blame for this
Well, yes. What type of content do you think takes up most of the space on 50-100 GB games?

Cute anime girls.

wait, why is codex 14.4 GB

bitcoin miner

dress up
cute girls
shit to grind
cute young girls
not made by a western studio
no shitty dub
non school setting

4k textures

>size matters

jeez who would have thought

h-haha, good joke, user

Good music and art style. I can tolerate average or bad gameplay if it has enough charm.

Reminder that Call of Duty games weight 100GB now and that's without any DLC and even single player campaign.

It seems the shittier a game plays the bigger the install size.
You can't prove me wrong.
Just look at Rockstars games with their beyond shitty, laggy controls.

audio in 16 different languages, 4k textures.

It's not cutscenes those are all in game engine these days.

How long is this game?

Good gameplay that's challenging and/or deep in some way. Easy games with no learning curve are boring.

15-20 hours if you're not awful at video games

Don't worry about it user, it's fine.

Good to know the game being short rumors were not true.

This. I hate the fucking bloat and wish I could just pick one audio pack before I downloaded the fucking thing

whats the extra filesize for

Attached: 1539678426935.jpg (300x295, 26K)

That I can learn the game as I'm playing it, and that it doesn't feel like it's trying to waste my time.

I said don't worry about it, pirates have to make a living as well, don't they?

To not be a video game.

15 to 20 hours is very short for a game like this. Unless that's just with doing the bare minimum and no exploring.

Get fucked pirate scum

>pirates have to make a living as well, don't they?
but what do you mean by this?

Just don't worry about it user, you got your free game, be happy.

>cool japanese word: epic spirit shadows die more than once doesnt have 4k textures

dumb name made me apprehensive, this just fuckin ruined it for me

Attached: 1551030788821.gif (200x270, 1.09M)

how did they compress it to 12ish gigs?

what wizardry are these nips practicing to do so in current_year+4 where every game is 50gb+ minimum

Guys I just want to get into Dark Souls, and I really want to try Dark Souls 1, what's the major differences between the original and the remastered?

play dark souls

nothing, youtubers were just too retarded to know what remastered means, ie updated visuals

they genuinely expected RE2 levels of changes, which is a rework not a remaster

>At least good gameplay without cute girls/at least mediocre gameplay with cute girls
>Pleasing atmosphere/aesthetic one way or the other. Really need art/music to pull their weight.

I think that's all I really need, games that don't hit these marks rarely catch my interest in the first place.

Two audio languages and very little spoken audio at that and the same environmental assets are used over and over and over and over for the entire game.

Nothing really surprising desu

>he doesnt know about the keylogger
oh no no no, buy it next time

i'm 34 hours in and havent finished it
i think i'm at the end now, but still have a bunch of optional shit to do

Of all the things to get up in arms about, resolution has always been the one that baffled me the most.

drm free on gog, tits, vagiona

b-b-but fitgirl is one of the /good guys/ right?

right?

Because it already comes with the 3.5 GB day one patch you ultra-brainlets

Attached: 1509189976418.png (726x542, 341K)

honestly I have no idea which scenes are good or not anymore

They're meh, at most.
The fact that they literally sponsorize their miner it's shady. But I've never saw any suspicious activity when installing their cracks.

>my install is 15.6 GB
what the FUCK

Attached: 52.jpg (500x490, 48K)

That's because the suspicious activity occurs during the install.

Why do you think they're so CPU heavy and people complain about them taking hours?

fit-girl lets you select your prefered audio files
fit girl good

It's not like you can get the original anywhere anymore is it?

Can someone explain to me why the fuck Vermintide 2
With a whole 13 of missions
is fucking 73GB?

>install pirated game
>choose english options

>suddenly a minimized inaccessible window with russian letters

Attached: Baldrick_thumbnail.jpg (294x400, 19K)

Games are only 50GB+ because a.) shittons of audio in multiple languages, b.) shittons of high res textures, and c.) laziness in terms of compression. You can still pull off solid games with small filesizes, Super Mario Odyssey was sub-7GB. Granted, Nintendo are also compression wizards but it can still be done.

>Why do you think they're so CPU heavy and people complain about them taking hours?
Because during installation it literally unpacks tons of textures, hence why the installation takes hours.

western devs have basically given on on compressing their fucking files

Torrents exist.

Kek.

>implying they ever tried

That's the best anti-piracy measures imo. The whole reason I stopped pirating shit was because everything was so huge

why dont more games/services let you do this?even blizzard lets you install separate languages and you can just download a new one when you want to change. instead of loading things youll probably never use if youre already comfortable with the default audio

Yeah because the file size it's any different in the original files, retard.

torrents are smaller, you idiot

It's good that my gaming pc is always offline.

I guess it's also part of the reason I don't buy a lot of modern games either but point taken

Laziness
Also there is this theory coming from industry anons that some boomer managers decided to "fight for disk space", meaning they make you less likely to install game from competition if their game already takes up all of your space.

i think you have it flipped, pirates compress their files and even let you skip downloading unnecessary files

Someone already speculated that they're primarily doing that because they're competing with HDD space on consoles, this then translate to mediocre porting and optimization on PC.

It has to have an entertaining gameplay loop that continually develops its key mechanic(s) throughout and increases in difficulty to sustain being entertaining for however long the game is.

>the best part of a game is the file size
Imagine the level of corporate slavery that leads a human life toward that way of thinking.

Yep I'm realizing that and feel silly for posting what I did.

That just makes it less likely for me to buy their game. Filesize bloat is why I still haven't played something like Doom, it's just so damn big that I don't want to fuck with it.

So do Miyazaki games run on a tight budget or something? While the games are well designed, they don't particularly have good polish, which I don't mind because the games are still charming anyway. But if you played Sekiro you will notice the highly compressed sound-files that have been re-used for the past decade, such as the fire cracking. Also the games don't perform great (on base PS4 at least) and there's a lot of muddy textures and the hair never looks quite right.

i have shit third world internet, file size is a genuine factor for me in getting a game

Atmosphere and immersion

Fromsoft has never been a AAA dev and you can see it in the generally dodgy polish of their games. Fantastic ideas with good enough execution, but they tend to have their share of technical issues.

He phrased it wrong, yeah. But there's some people that literally think that if a game isn't at least 50GB then it's a short game.
For real, I saw some diot arguing over file sizes and how they're not buying some game because they were thinking that because the game was less than 25GB it would mean it's a short game.

also because physical copy sellers sell games at release prices even after they should be at bargain bin prices

i still see games released half a decated ago that are still priced at a full 60$ equivalent

Also there are retards that believe that more memory = more content and refuse to buy games smaller than 20 gigs

Should I buy this game if the last third person action RPG I liked was Dragon's Dogma and I don't like Souls games?

zoomer are retarded more news at 11

Sekiro didn’t have a 3gig day 1 patch tho?

>groundbreaking unique mechanics
go on. after pats first stream, i saw nothing unique. watched up until the water part with the guy in the barrel

member when you can just copy/paste "Program Files" folders of games and you can play it anywhere? member when they were even mostly 500mb to 1gb?

used to have PvZ and sniper elite on a thumb drive and play them straight from that drive on school PCs

Yeah good thing they aren't the target audience, right? ahah

Oh wait, they are.

>Also the games don't perform great

bit of an understatement, they implemented a performance mode in the console editions that keeps sekiro sitting constantly in the fucking no mans land of 40-45 FPS for some reason, the absolute worst place they could be.

youtu.be/vmVM1LsbHvA?t=561

Attached: panic.png (296x390, 7K)

user, read the OP and then his post one more time.

Holy fucking cringe. Weebs are pathetic.

Bad ressourcemanagement for once.
90 % of all games have left over bullshit that isn't used anymore, and haven't compressed shit of it.

In all it's a huge "fuck you" to the customer and should be sueable.

yes? hes trying to argue that sekiro has groundbreaking unique mechanics and im asking him what mechanics those would be. yes i know this thread is stupid but i genuinely want to know what makes sekiro so unique

>play shadow of mordor
>30-40gb
>only 2 maps
>maps so fucking small you can run through them on foot in under 5 minutes each
>DLCs are literally just a new save on the same maps but with different themes

Cute anime girls are very important to me.
If the girls aren't cute I won't buy your game.

Attached: 1552366944516.jpg (438x450, 36K)

Maybe it was already included in the PC version, but it had one in consoles.

this is so fucking aids why can japanese devs not even add a 30fps cap without frame pacing issues. Everybody else can do it no way is it that hard.

He's saying that those are the prerequisites for him to like a game in general, silly.

>said yet another random fuckhead who knows nothing about gamedev

That user is talking about what he likes in games, not about Sekiro specifically.

Attached: IMG_20180625_010641_138.jpg (640x640, 29K)

oh yea, woops.

yeah obviously I don't know how to program and make games but its an issue that 99% of devs have fixed.

im seeing a lot of sponsored youtubers but not a lot of streamers play this game lately

>wish I could just pick one audio pack before I downloaded the fucking thing

Attached: file.png (326x248, 6K)

Just don't bother expecting optimization out of japs games.

:)

>fixed

Fixed in that sense by very ugly workarounds and other trade-offs.

based pirate-who-roleplays-as-an-autistic-french-girl-in-a-movie

it also has a metric tonne of voice acting. In multiple languages.

Audio is the largest chunk of file size when it comes to games, followed by 4k textures.

Probably uncompressed audio. That shit always take the majority of space.

>tfw torrenting Sekiro on PC right now
Fuck the shitty PS4 and it's terrible performance.
They already got my money so I don't give a shit.

Attached: 1521861520287.png (700x600, 108K)

for real though, whats the point in playing any game thats not on the default english language only?

i genuinely cringe whenever my native language is used in anything other than casually talking to me irl

>games now have uncompressed textures and uncompressed audio, redusing CPU and GPU usage
>they still manage to be unoptimized clusterfuck most of the times

anons please, if game companies have to spend another dime in a department reserved for optimization then how would they pay their bloated HR? with jobs as significant as diversity officers and the like?

>gameplay feel
>mechanics
>atmosphere
>story
>visual design
if a game does two or more of the above well or to my taste, I will like it

Attached: 1448809486331.jpg (500x376, 65K)

>what if you can pay services like steam to burn games to CDs and mail them to you?

polish?

1.) That it's interesting/fun.
2.) Doesn't run like shit, pic related.
If your game is good but stutters all the fucking time regardless of hardware it's literally impossible to enjoy.
3.) Doesn't have some stupid shit that the publisher forced in that fucks with paying customers. Denuvo, always online for single player games, dlc and micro transatctions out of the ass and so on.

There is more, but these 3 are the main things that make or brake games, in that order.

Attached: results.jpg (5784x5368, 3.46M)

>game requires ubisoft launcher
:^(

>representation
>diversity
>inclusion
>lgbt, woman, pOc or trans main character
>villains are white males

that goes under
>3.) Doesn't have some stupid shit that the publisher forced in that fucks with paying customers.

You mean remake, not rework.

If you want to install XCOM 2 with all the DLC, it's about 100 GB. Game devs just don't give a shit about compression these days.

Room for experimentation. Without that, the entire game falls apart for me.
This ties in with a bigger focus on Decision making over Reaction time.
Room for preparation is also important.

>1.25 tb ssd space
>1 tb hdd space
>1 gb/s internet speed
>no data cap

literally couldn't care less about game size

Not him, but yeah.
Polish dubs are 100000 times worse than jap to English dubs.
