There are people who think Bloodborne is lovecraftian

>kafkaesque

>eldritch

Attached: 1281661229382.jpg (241x403, 36K)

it's how reddit refers to reddit shit without sounding derogatory and yes before you ask: lovecraft himself is redditcore.

>"indie"
>game is published by a AAA corporation

Attached: 1553015818612.gif (355x260, 1.68M)

it means like stuff based off man with niggerman cats work
like it has monsters or stuff like cthulhu

>survival horror

Attached: empty.jpg (329x398, 102K)

It quite literally is.

>survival horror
>it's actually just a walking sim

Don't you love how Lovecraft is no longer cool because twitter thought police found out he said nigger?

>open world

>evil thing appears nearby and stares at you before disappearing

Attached: 1533858053541.jpg (472x512, 73K)

It's overtly Lovecraftian

Stop portraying Cthulhu as a fucking octopus.

He's an incomprehensible being that just lives in the sea.

I really hope that's true, I'm sick of captain reddit and his ebin tentacle monsters.

>calls itself 'lovecraftian'
>doesn't have ANY racism

It's threads like these that convince me that Yea Forums is entirely illiterate.
I mean, how many of you go to reddit, ctrl + c a single word and then greentext it here with a smug not-anime girl

>it jumpscares you

Attached: harley.png (262x288, 124K)

That's why I love him more. He's a literal product of his time.

I would reply to you but I'm illiterate and thus cannot read.

>He's an incomprehensible being that just lives in the sea.

Just saying that something is incomprehensibly scary doesn't make it scary. That's the same thing as just saying it is scary. This unknowable horror stuff is weak. You should show, not tell, and Lovecraftian horror done like in the books is just telling. It doesn't work.

It's literally, explicitly, actually that

The absolute state, nation and fucking planet of you if you think it's not.

>battle royal

Everybody has known that for years, stupid child. People are tired of self-branded Lovecraftian horror media because it's overdone and poorly executed.

it is
that's why it's the worst souls game

I like how the user replying to you actually think that its Lovecraftian
when its horribly not

but what about tentacle porn

that's kino but it loses points if it references redditman

You do know right that Lovecraft recanted his racism in later years?

>bloodborne is Lovecraftian
>nothing drives you insane after seeing it
>no enemies are literally invincible from Lovecraftian bullshit
>B-B-BUT ITS LOVECRAFTIAN
more than anything it's just a generic bullshit curse over a old timey aesthetic

Attached: pizzadance.gif (164x170, 131K)

How fucking often do you hear "Kafkaesque" in relationship to a game?
Because I pretty much know two games that legit have that connotation.

Yes just like how Hitler had one ball and was jewish and killed himself and nazis went to the moon.

lovecraftian creatures aren't invincible
they just tend to be fucking gigantic

>"Lovecraftian"
>it just has tentacle monsters

Where?

Attached: 1536515283119.gif (1215x1452, 212K)

Wrong, in the lovecraft series there was actual god creatures. if i recall wasn't cthulu the weakest one?

the lovecraftian bestiary is a bit more expansive than just elder gods

It still portrays a version of Cosmic Horror, where a majority of those just near the amygdalas under the blood moon go mad. Its just in the players case, they get to revive over and over again. If you learn too much through the madman's knowledge, you gain more frenzy meter, which is the 'lovecraft' madness mechanic. Look to much into that you can't understand, and you just straight up die with the more comprehension that you have of what you're actually looking at

Bloodborne is Lovecraftian in the sense that it takes cues from Lovecraft mythology. In a storytelling sense, Lovecraftian is more of an indicator for the themes of Lovecraft's stories rather than its mythology, though of course they go hand in hand. And in all honesty, I'd rather have more Lovecraftian mythology than Lovecraftian themes in video games. Playing a video game where you're helpless, everything's incomprehensible, and all your actions are for naught might make a good walking simulator horror/puzzle game, but not much else. I feel like Bloodborne was a good step to get away from that.

>nothing drives you insane after seeing
Wrong?
