If you have a bad time from far vs Yuzu, Yuzu has a really bad time with you in her face.
In general, once you get in on her, staying on her relentlessly is the most consistent way
to keep her bullied. Half screen distance is where Yuzu is strongest. Aside
from point blank, there is a certain spacing around 2-3 characters away where Yuzu's moves
are either too slow, or have too little range to contest.

For most characters, there is no shortcut to getting in on Yuzu. Dash block is the only real
option, once you get close enough, punch her when you think she'll exit stance. Winning vorpal
will make it much easier to get in, as you'll probably be able to use some move and CS to
force your way into getting her into a block string at the very least.

The first button to enter stance is very slow, like 16f+ minimum. Once in stance, all her buttons
become rather absurd considering their range, becoming 6-10f, all cancellable, all
essentially frametrappable. You shouldn't always respect stance because the Yuzu will start
cutting block strings short and get away with some unsafe things, just know that odds are stacked
when you try to make a read to contest it.

All her stance moves get 1 press each of A, B, and C. The first move entering stance is free.
Additionally, she can reuse a button that's already been used by committing to exiting
stance after it, and with the penalty that it'll be the slow 16f+ version. So you can
expect a total of 4 or 5 moves maximum each stance.

Yuzu has no high except her air normals. You can down back her all day if you want to.
She primarily gets her hits in because you want to not block. The only thing Yuzu can truly
do to make you get hit, is go up close and throw you. Eventually it comes to the point where
Yuzu has to make feints, call out your defense, or some other hard read to make you crack.
Try to shield her from far and mid range. Be wary of green shielding, especially at closer
ranges where she can try to shield break you with assault, 6c, or throws.

Her parry 4B can only parry mid and highs, starts on 7f. Once the parry is triggered, there's a HUGE
vacuum hitbox. It's possible to block though, whether it's from CSing or it just caught
a projectile and not you. She is completely invincible the whole way through once the parry
triggers, so the best you can do if you bait it is take your turn putting her in a block string.

tk j214b (circly air slashes) stance exit is +3.
tk j6c j214b stance exit is also positive.
FF has a purple flash before her unblockable comes out, so you can just use that as a cue
to jump or something. Uncharged FF 44/66 is very plus, and 0 on stance exit. FF can also
be feinted to do nothing however.
(j)214b in the corner for oki is varying degrees of plus depending on tech timing.
Raw teleports are unsafe for Yuzu, if she teleports as her stance enter, you can just mash
her if she's nearby.
2b (scabbard poke) is 0 on block.

Vatista willingly gave it away and it ceased being her wing once Kuon's mind turned it into the Insulator.
Presumably Hyde still has trouble with it because he's still inexperienced as hell. It's like a level 1 character using a sword he barely has stats for.

Asking here because I have no idea where I'd find it but a few months ago I saved a twitter post that had a Seth setup where he did an unblockable setup and comboed off the unblockable and then looped it into another unblockable. I think it might have involved a FF in the middle but I'm not sure. Thing is that tweet got deleted and I dunno if it was posted anywhere else or someone made a similar setup/did it in a match. Hopefully someone else knows what I'm talking about and where to find it?

I'd say almost half the cast is waifu compared to GG's amount.

Also, I happened to catch a Kamone stream by chance yesterday morning and he was showing off some neat things to do with Linne that I never thought of trying like rolling immediately after shooting ground kuugas or using 214AA to side switch when in a corner.

I imagine he's talking about really blatant fetish designs than actual female characters.

That one was similar but I think the setup was different. Like it wasn't as resource intensive I think? It was still in the corner and I think the first unblock was helm breaker > EX orb with another orb already out and then comboing off the unblock > ex orb hit. Might be remembering wrong, but I definitely recall helm breaker being used in the corner

It's a good time to comment since somebody else showed up, but in general, I think you're being too aggressive as Phonon. It's good to have the mixups and ability to play as her up close, but you're pretty much playing at my ideal range. Now if only I could remember to jump or use kuuga when I'm reading that you're going for lows a lot.

Anyone know if the face portraits are all done by the same artist? It's jarring how some of them look great, and others look really derp, like Wagner looks like a bored aspie, and Yuzu has no face.

It's all Yoshihara and I chalk that up to making original cast's portraits around 7 years ago while some of the more recent ones have a lot more character to them.
It's beyond me why they chose certain faces next to the lifebars, Yuzu could have used a goofier smile. That being said, Wagner also has every reason to be bored of said situation.

Habits die hard. It took more matches than I'd like to admit to start punishing that consistently after I noticed the pattern.
I'm pretty certain it's the same artist. I agree that there's some weird looking ones though, even between different portraits of the same character.

I can't think of a character where throwing fireball is useless outside of Enkidu's raw super fireball.

I've been working on TRM setups to beat OS/shield with my normals more and have been trying to put it into practice to blow up shields. Most of the cancels into 5a and 2a after hitting you in the face at point blank with b/cs was to blow up your shields. I was missing a lot of the cancels into throw from dash cause it's like a 2 frame window with button dashing and I'm not consistent yet. Lot's of Phonon's pressure is scary up close because she can make shield whiff and has good frame data on shit like 5c (-2) and natural traps.
As for you, you really need to take advantage of how hard phonon has to commit when she needs to antiair something right in her face. FF throw OS is like the best thing I have and it's slow as fuck. My DP is only head invincible on like frame 9. You can't let getting hit by FF/FF OS or DP scare you out of jumping in my face because it's super committal and usually just a guess on my part. Maybe not totally wakeup but you have more opportunities in your pressure resets. Use your double jump and jump back kuuga to bait/punish FF in neutral too.

What are some good meaty options for Eltnum?
Whenever I knock people down I usually just run up and 2A a bunch or don't run up and reload instead if I need to

Think I'm gonna go reset my router. Sai and bench can make another lobby for the time being.

You can gorilla to spend bullets for 22B and be like +8. Eltnum's A/B buttons are more than enough for people to respect you though.

His teleports can be quite hard to get down along with his projectiles that allow him to do all kinds of mix-ups.

At least that's how I view him on the difficulty level.

Lots of opportunities to get in some crazy overheads too.

it's more about catching 2a mashes and 3acd oses in elt/seth/whoever else
if I establish the grab game around 5c I can start using frame traps and staggers to catch mashes and work throw mix stuff and get more respect for my resets

I meant to ask about Chaos instead of Seth. How hard is Chaos? I keep getting the names of Seth and Chaos mixed up.

Chaos, like Seth, also demands inputting a flurry of specials to combo with Azhi exclusively but you need a lot more awareness in where you and Azhi are positioned but he the basic functions of his moves are a lot easier to grasp.

One spot I have a lot of trouble in is at that ~2-2.5 character distance away after blocking a string. I get blown up trying to B out because it's not enough range, but I'm afraid of doing Cs because they're slow.
I heard I should dash block to inch closer in that scenario but doesn't that make me lose my turn and put me back in the same scenario?

Have a mix of 2C for anyone trying to approach on ground and 236A for literally everything else I guess. If you got CS and meter, try 421C to force your way through with a reversal you can combo out of.

on the bright side, trying to pick up that 236c and knowing exactly how to route it for having that much juice left is definitely showing improvement in my awareness
