The game, World of Final Fantasy Maxima, on Switch looks like if it was a shitty port of a Mobile Game. The menus, the graphics, the everything looks like shit.

Why do people pretend this game is good? The characters are annoying and the game's gameplay is a blatantly lazy soulless version of the turn based system. Compare that with FFX-2's rendition of the turn based system which is still the best.

The nice thing is that you don't have to actually beat any of the minigames to proceed with the plot. There's trophies, the maduin memento, and some special scenes for getting perfect scores, but you can also fail every single one and never look back if you don't want to.

The Baby Tonberry hosts a trading and multiplayer lobby, the Master Tonberry is just coliseum battles. The baby Tonberry stuff only gives you a bunch of those Anima Coins or whatever they're called to get Seeds from The Girl Who Forgot Her Name once you buy everything from her store. Nothing is exclusive to multiplayer whatsoever and you don't need to even touch it.

Music is amazing and the characters are hilarious and charming. I think it has plenty of Soul.

Lann and Reynn are much better, most of the FF cast in general is great, Seraphie has a fantastic sarcastic yet deadpan voice, and Tama's much easier to handle when you just hear "desu" everywhere while reading -the instead of hearing her say -the randomly. Not to mention the Princess Goblin is Yu Kobayashi so your ears will be orgasming.

It's on the easier side for the main story barring the final boss who is a massive jump in difficulty out of nowhere. Character interactions are fun, the dialogue in general has some enjoyable jokes, the interventions are great, it treats the FF characters like they did in Kingdom Hearts where they kind of loosely follow their origins but they have their own take on everything so you don't really need any backstory on them at all, there's a lot of creatures to use, and the story's pretty okay if a bit predictable. Decent amount of side content and postgame is pretty rough compared to everything before it. Make sure you grab Maxima if you want more stuff to do at endgame and some more Mirages because things like Couerls and Yojimbo are Maxima exclusive.

One thing to note is chibi form is what you're going to be playing in for a majority of the game because the human form is inferior to literally any L sized Mirage.

I am, I even really like Lann, but I want to stop playing every time he moves and the thing that the Tama does it a tad bit irritating. The banter is off the charts though and there are entirely too many puns, I love it.

Also, I can't catch those squirrels in the first area since every attack kills them outright.

Equip Sylph and just use Tickle. Barring that, you can catch a Reaver Mu later on, and Carbuncle downgrades to it. You can also get the white variant in the Seven Sands I think.

It wasn't a bad final dungeon and the last boss was cool, it just wasn't nearly as good as the first half of the game and doesn't hold a candle to the written Memories.

I also felt like I wanted to hurry up and finish at that point, but in the end it was worth continuing on. The ending was really sweet, and bitter in a good way.
I would recommend the game enough to advise buying a cheap 360, if you've got the spare cash around anyway. Obviously don't if you are poor, right and proper.

Switch and Xbone come with Maxima and the $15 2P Mirage DLC along with the Day One DLC and the Magitek Armor P from playing the demo by default. PS4 and PC have to buy both DLCs but a physical copy of the PS4 game is always the Day One Edition (At least from what I've seen) so to get the Magitek Armor P you just have to download the demo and run through it which takes like 20 minutes (Not needed for PC). Not sure on the Vita. PS4 and Vita are the only ones with Sora, PS4 version runs fine and they gave it a patch to fix problems Pros had which made it blurry.

As DLC? Don't see it in the store. Also the Ps4 version doesn't have Jap voice and is only included in the day one physical version but strangely the Vita version has the optional update for free!

Anyone tried Switch version? I beat PS4 one long time ago, and never touched it again.

The update is available on PS4 so I would only get it if you want the portability like I did. Performance is fine, but the visuals take quite the hit on switch. Especially if you try playing it docked.

I need to get back to finishing this, but with Chocobo Dungeon out, FFVII out tomorrow, and both FFX/X-2 and XII out next month, i'm not sure when i'll get back to it.
