And Rockstar spent hundreds of millions on GTAV, up to and including wasting time on those character switching scenes that LITERALLY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GAMEPLAY - literally an hour and a halfs worth of nothing

And despite that - DESPITE THAT - despite every sacrifice to turn GTA into a movie, GTAV's story is only a little longer than GTA:SA (including the DVD San Andreas movie though, SA is longer)

GTAV is a mess, and I mean in everyway, whether it's cheats, mods, etc SA beats V - and unlike the 4 kiddies, you can't use "but muh based single player DLC!!!1" to defend your game

PS2 generation GTAs were leagues ahead of the PS3/4 gen GTAs

Even just by watching speedruns of GTASA and 5 you can tell how much more fun it is to play SA. It is also amazing how they had a lot of the things that are present in GTA5 and more.

This is what I like most about GTA:SA speedruns, so many little things that make it more interesting to watch

Having to eat is one of the most underrated mechanics

Gigantic map with 3 large cities and many interesting smaller locations and sights in between.

Genuine feeling of being in a different area each time.

Interesting and varied missions throughout the whole game, but still with a certain story continuity.

Variety of different interesting characters that didn't necessarily have to be narratively interwoven.

Shit ton of different weapons that actually felt distinct from each other + 'joke' weapons like dildos and flower bouquets which could only be found in certain spots.

Many rewarding easter eggs and stuff you'd never normally notice in a standard playthrough but only by exploring.

Great variety of cars, boats and planes and nice side activities with unique touches, like the mountain bicycle race or when you fuck niggas up with the giant harvester lol.

World felt alive with pedestrians, restaurants and shops you could visit, some of which were unique to their area.

This is still the best GTA game by far. I liked GTA IV but I was so incredibly disappointed with GTA V, because they blatantly lied about the size. Yeah sure it may be big, but what does that do for you if it's just one city with a giant flat wasteland surrounding it??? Also the city itself was the shittiest of any GTA ever. So incredibly flat, lifeless and boring. You could tell they planned to make it better but didn't give a shit at the end and scrapped a lot, like the many restaurants and shops that look clearly like they were meant to be entered at some point, but then they decided to leave the feature out. Also they got so lazy with everything in favor of cinematic moments. The guns were TRASH because every gun felt the same just with different fire rate and bullet spread. Characters were obnoxious for the most part. I'm sort of hesitant to buy the next installment now.

Not many activities or ways to have fun, just a more open and better designed Hyrule Field from OOT - it lacks that screw off mentality of SA and SR2

I know Switch/Nintenfags need a win, but I played it on Wii-U and it's not that great of a sandbox game.

The game is good on it's own tho, and the DLCs are games with stories of their own that occasionally feature the other protagonist and characters.Rockstar made that a big point about the DLC long ago.

It aged horribly and the gameplay is complete garbage.

saints row 2 didnt take itself too seriously but still had some really awesome badass moments. sucks that it went the wacky route with its sequels. 3 and 4 were garbage

The PS2 version is unironically perfectly fine, considering of course the fact that there will be some slowdown and such from it being on the PS2. No content or effects are missing from that version.

The Steam version is actual horse shit and doesn't deserve any money, and neither do any other modern re-releases/ports. Rockstar is too cheap to renew music licenses so they would constantly patch out music from the soundtrack, and to my understanding the PC version was fucked up through updates to the effect of essentially being a backport of the fucking mobile port, for some fucking reason. (the only re-releases not based on the mobile version to my knowledge are the digital PS3 and PS4 rereleases of the PS2 version, both of which will have music patched out anyway).

So yeah pirate. I forget which specific patch you want to get but there's a specific patch that everyone uses for online and mods.

PS2 is THE best version. "Worse" doesn't mean the object above it is bad too.

SA's story is awful like a big pile of fast food, It doesn't actually taste bad and you can stuff kilograms of it down your throat in a sitting, but it's going to make you dizzy, clog your arteries and damage your rectum if you do it often.
V's story is bad like that same fast food cook trying to make a 5 star 10 course meal and a gourmet cake.
